Perfect for your thai fix! Moderate portions and a great mix of Thai options with great descriptions so no one has to guess what will work for their palate. The spring rolls were amazing and I could eat 4 plates of them! Their tofu plate was huge with insane amounts of vegetable and sauce goodness. The Chicken cashew dish could have used more sauce and marinated flavor but it was a very big dish that worked great for breakfast leftovers. A downside is this place is crowded and loud- we had people need to move tables because there literally wasn't room for the waiter and diner in the same spot. The bathrooms are likewise cramped. We walked in from a convention a few blocks away, and were able to get seated pretty quickly. The place was bustling, and I'll admit, a bit cramped. The energy was great, and the lighting was very fun. We had some empanadas, which felt like a fun twist on a samosa. The crust was a bit flakier, but the filling really brought the dish home. I'd recommend these to anyone eating here. I ordered a classic, drunken noodles. It had a great spice level for my comfort. I will say that it wasn't anything special as far as the dish goes, but sometimes a solid, well-known dish is exactly what you want. Everyone else with me seemed happy with their dishes as well. Under the sparkling Christmas lights, my friend and I enjoyed the Wednesday special, Thai for Two. That's two appetizers, two entrees, a dessert, and a bottle of wine for $68. Between the two of us, there was plenty to eat and drink with some leftovers to take home! I have to say that I am so glad that my original plans fell through because I would not have had the opportunity to try out Beau Thai for the first time. Now, I have a go-to spot for my Thai needs whenever I'm in Shaw. The first thing I had, which I absolutely loved, was the Thai Chili Mango Margarita. This delicious beverage has a nice mixture of sweet and spicy. *Don't worry, the beverage is not THAT spicy.* The margarita is mixed with a Thai-chili-infused tequila, curaçao, mango, lime juice and agave. I do not know why, but the combinations of these flavors really worked for the beverage (and me). While I'm not ha huge fan of beverages with more than three ingredients, this margarita made me rethink my general rule. Beau Thai's food menu is huge, which made it hard to decide on what to eat. I decided to keep it easy and go with a couple appetizers. The first was the steam dumplings, which were amazing. The dumplings are filled with a mix of chicken, pork and shrimp. I'm not sure what was the sweet sauce that accompanied the dumplings, but I need to have more of it. I thought the nine dollar price tag was fine for the dumplings. My other appetizer was the pork belly ($10), which was served with a spicy lime sauce and thin rice noodles. I also had an order of fried rice because I did not know that the pork belly was served with rice noodles. Overall, the service was above average because the woman bartender was on top of everything. She never left me hanging or waiting too long for a drink refill. While the food was delicious, I thought it took a little longer than expected for the food to arrive to my section of the bar. Ok, so it was not a super long wait. However, I caught myself thinking: Hmmm, the food probably should have been served by now. Perhaps, the restaurant makes things to order instead of reheating certain items. That (very) minor issue aside, I really look forward to returning again and trying more things on the menu...especially the cocktail menu. read more

The vibe of this restaurant was very chill. Its a cute and trendy with what appear to be family photos on the tables and around the walls. The service was very awkward. It felt like the waitress was new. It took a long time to get water and even longer to finally put in the order for drinks and appetizers and even longer to put in the food order because she wouldn't take it with the appetizers. We had a couple drinks that were all terrible, but the food was pretty good. The spring rolls were overpriced for essentially three rolls they sliced in half for some reason. The pork belly was super delicious! Highly recommend grabbing it if you stop by. Honestly surprised Beau Thai isn't rated higher - this is THE spot to go for Thai food in dc. The atmosphere is nothing special and I've always considered it more of a to-go/uber eats spot, but dining in was a nice experience as well. We got a round of cocktails that were tasty, and the usual order (pad thai, drunken noodles, dumplings) -- all very very good. I've been wanting to try Beau Thai for a while now but we ended up just doing take out, so this is a take out review. The flavors of everything was good. The pad thai was great, we got chicken with ours. We also got chicken pad se ew which I thought was delicious as well. Penang curry is one of my favorite go to's, and I was pleased with the flavor of this one. I also tried the wonton soup, which honestly, might have been my favorite of all the dishes. While the flavors were great, my biggest issue was the portion size. It might be a product of skimflation, but the portion size was very small. The Penang curry was tiny, and the pad thai and pad se ew were small as well. The wonton soup was too small to really share with anyone but I was content with that because I wanted it all to my self. As you can see, the paper containers are less than half filled with each entree coming in at $17.00. I might order from here again, but the price was disappointing given the portion size. I can't comment on the service or the ambience, but the food travelled well and the flavors were great. read more

This was a recommendation from one of my friends who had been here before and loved the food. We came here for a friends birthday (04/15). We had a reservation for 7:00 p.m. & was told that if we didn't arrive by 7:00 p.m. our reservation would be released. Well of course we were all fashionably late. Apps: the apps were good Entrées: Most of the table ordered the crab fried rice which was just OK...I did like the salt fish that one of my companions ordered. The fish was not dried out and had a nice flakiness. No one ordered dessert. Atmosphere: the decor was cute but I wouldn't suggest this as a date spot on a Saturday as the other patrons can get rather loud. Solid Thai spot in Logan Circle/Shaw. We showed up at peak dinner time on Saturday but managed to sneak into what might've been the last table. If possible I'd make a reservation. We tried a variety of dishes, including pad see ew, drunken noodles, kao pad nam prik pao, and yellow curry. I think everything came out well, though there wasn't anything incredible. I am always partial to pad see ew and Beau Thai did an excellent job. The beef was flavorful and approaching melt-in-your-mouth status. The vegetables were cooked to a nice crisp-tender. If I were to nitpick, I'd say that the noodles clumped together just a little bit, but it really wasn't that big of an issue. He felt there was a hint of spice but definitely not spicy. Red curry was ordered at the table. This was flavorful and hit the spot for the person that ordered. My family came here for a late-ish dinner. The place wasn't too busy so we were seated quickly. The dining area is pretty big. Service was pretty quick and friendly. We ordered papaya salad to start. It was pretty good, I liked it. Papaya salad done right is nice and refreshing. This one had a a little more spice to it than I'm used to which was a welcome surprise. We ordered 2 different Drunken Noodles (pork and tofu), Kao Pad Nam Prik Pao, & 'Scott's Favorite' (lemon-marinated chicken with lemongrass). The drunken noodles were flavorful and cooked well. My only gripe is that the spice seemed inconsistent. We ordered both dishes as "Thai spicy" (their terminology) but the pork was clearly more spicy. No matter, I enjoyed them and they were on par for what I've come to expect for drunken noodles. It was my first time having Kao Pad Nam Prik Pao (essentially fried chicken thigh) and it was alright. It was fried to a nice crunch while still having the thigh by juicy but I felt it lacked in flavor. Maybe it could benefit from some kind of sauce? The fried rice served with it added some flavor; it was a little sweet from what I'm assuming was coconut milk. It was satisfying, but I'd probably try another entree before ordering this again. Scott's Favorite was definitely not anyone of our favorites. It was just ok. There was chicken, there was lemon, there was lemongrass. It wasn't bad, but it was nothing special. Found this gem on DoorDash and can say I was thoroughly pleased. The packaging was sustainable and the food stayed hot well through delivery. I ordered the steamed dumplings and green curry with pork. The dumplings were pretty decent. The green curry was savory and spicy; just what I needed on a rainy day. The only con to the dish was that the eggplant were cut really thick. Other than that, everything else was a perfect balance. I've only ever gotten takeout from Beau Thai, so I can't speak to the environment inside. The shrimp cakes are a delicious appetizer and come with a sweet chili dipping sauce. I always go with the pad thai which is the best in DC. As you can see however it's a small portion.
