I found this place through the help of yelp. My boyfriend and I came to Chinatown to explore the neighborhood. As I was yelping nearby treasures, this particular egg puff location came about. In NYC there is a little cart on a corner street that sells these bad boys, but you usually have to wait at least 15 minutes and it's pretty expensive. When we arrived, we were a litte bit "lost". It can be a little bit tricky to say the least to locate this amazing gem. It's located all the way in the back of this small strip mall. When we arrived, no one was operating the cart, but within a few seconds, we were greeted by this lovely lady. We ordered 30 pieces for $2.75!!!!! THIS IS A DEAL!!!! In NYC, it would be $5.00 for 30 pieces. We thanked her and continued exploring Chinatown, but we didn't get far. We were too consumed with eating these delicious puffs and in a matter of a few minutes, all 30 egg puffs were gone.....OH WHAT TO DO....yup you guessed it... We came back for another bag. The lady had a big smile on her face. We told her how much we loved them. I miss these so much!!! I would take a 4 hour drive for these amazing puffs. read more

Been here a couple of times. Good egg puffs for $3 a bag. One bag is super filling, so don't overorder. Also they are in brown paper lunch bags, so the oil goes through. Don't put this in your purse or bag! I like my egg puffs a little more crispy than how they are served here. It's more chewy than I'd like, but that's how most of my friends like theirs. Still, egg puffs are hard to find in the area and these are as cheap as they get. read more

I grew up eating egg puffs from this spot every week ever since I was little. The flavor and taste of these egg puffs are one of a kind. I've tried egg puffs from other places but the taste is just not the same and comparable. Only downside about this spot is the time she's selling and it's also cash only. But it's definitely one of the best! read more

Hidden in the back, a true Boston gem. Lightly sweet and a perfect snack to grab with coffee or milk tea. Wish it was fresh instead of premade sitting there but still had a good light flavor. Would recommend! read more

Considering this is the only place in the entire Boston Chinatown that you can get this stuff, it's an automatic 4 stars already. "egg puffs" are a Hong Kong staple that i grew up with. They come at $1 in Hong Kong for a bag, so although the $2.75 seemed like a rip off at first...I got over myself. These things are meant to more belgian-waffle like than pancake when it comes to texture. Flavor-wise, they are sweeter since you're not meant to eat them with syrup. Meaning, they should have a crunchy crust that has a good bite to it, but the core should be soft and chewy but NOT overly doughy. My only complaint is that the center was so doughy it was like eating doughballs. Good thing they're hot and they have "nice vendor lady" on their side. Again, I remember this is the only place in Chinatown i can reminisce my child/teen-hood, so...I'm gonna leave it at that. read more

I grew up with this particular stand full of delicious Asian-styled "pancake balls" or "egg puffs" as they are called. Back in the 90s up to early 2000s, this particular location used to be known as the notorious 2nd floor where you got your grimy and delicious Asian cuisine stands (Juice Bar was there too). The thugs and teens hung around there, along with the random arcade games. Egg Puffs was among those stands, and I knew the owner/maker as a child. When 2nd floor was shut down and converted into apartments/business places, the Egg Puffs disappeared. I thought that was the end of my childhood there. Boy, was I wrong about that! About 1-2 years ago, I noticed there were food stands forming in the 1st floor. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the same owner with an upgraded Egg Puffs sign making them the same way as I remembered it! Ah the joy and nostalgia I felt when I received my bag full of 30 egg puffs! :D The texture is maintained in the balance between soft fluffy centers and crunchy exterior of the egg puffs. The flavor is sweet, but not overwhelming to make your teeth rot off. This is definitely the only egg puff stand you will find in Boston, and I highly recommend getting them! $2.75 is the price (cash only) at that time. Be warned, there may be days when the batter runs out for the day, and the stand WILL close due to that! read more

When visiting Boston for a day, it was really surprising to find a nice small shop that sold egg puffs. First of all, they're very inexpensive; it cost $3 for a bag with what felt like a never-ending pit of egg puffs. Realistically, I'd estimate there were about 30 or so. For those of you who haven't had egg puffs before, they're a simple egg batter snack made with what's very similar to a waffle iron. There isn't supposed to be a mix of flavors or textures, but rather think of them as tiny pancakes but a little sweeter. As far as egg puffs go, I really enjoyed that these were so full on the inside and with sweet taste that wasn't overwhelming. I've had some egg puffs that are really airy and hollow on the inside but these here are a step above the rest. Mind you: CASH ONLY read more

Believe the hype, these are addictive! Think little robin egg shaped sweet waffles that are stuck together like monkey bread. And if you think $2.75 is too expensive for these, you need to calibrate your expectations of food pricing in the big city. Most bakeries in Boston charge at least $2 for a single cookie... 1 order of these is easily enough for two & how can you not feel good about supporting a small business such as this?!? read more

These are amazing and a great value. I grew up in NYC and these could easily hold their own against the egg puffs in NY's Chinatown.

OH. MY. LORD. Childhood me is freaking out one hundred percent right now. I honestly can't even handle typing right now because so many emotions are running through my head because of these little egg puffs. I haven't had these little bites of heaven since I was a kid in Hong Kong running around the playground. But enough of me raving about my childhood. These puffs are like mini-pancakes made by a god. They are bite sized sweet pancakes. The batter is questionable - poured out from an unmarked plastic jug, but nevertheless amazing. It's in the very back of a food court type place, which in itself is about the size of a restaurant. Anyone who likes sweets or pancakes should take the time to stop in here. ASAP. You won't regret it! $2.75 for 30 of the little treats?! Can't beat it. read more

An older Chinese woman runs this egg puff fry stand in a small food court. She is warm and friendly though she doesn't say a lot. Apparently the egg puff is a Chinese spherical answer to the waffle I haven't found in new York (it's taken off in Boston though.) At the end of the somewhat meandering bland place is her grill. She serves her waffles hot and as you tear them off the waffle/honeycomb looking structure, they taste like mini pancakes and are delicious. Just the thing to distract from loneliness. read more

Simple, tasty & inexpensive. Three words that rarely are said together about most eateries but the simply named Egg Puff cart reminds the wonderful street carts in my homeland of Thailand & the streets of New York City. Specialized stands that make one thing & one thing only but they do it very well. The one person stand creates hot puffs for sweet dough that melts in your mouth. They are always fresh, I've never seen more than two set of puffs ever waiting. All this for the price of $2.75. This is usually my go to after having sushi and/ or dumplings in the same mini food court. I really wish that more places like this existed. It is one of the purest eating experiences one can have & they are provide very consistent product. Next time you are in the Chinatown or Theatre District area stop on by. The warm smile you get will be just as good as the bag of joy they serve. read more

Egg Puffs - Bag of joy for $2.75 - Waffles Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

Well, it was quite an adventure finding this place. Even after locating the secret compartment (spoiler alert: it's a door) to this "food court," I stood there looking like the clueless white girl that I was for a minute before figuring out that you need to go through ANOTHER door and then go all the way to the back to get to this little cart. But it was worth any hassle, plus $2.75, because these little egglets were just about magical. If I had to describe it, I would say it's like a tiny, fluffy and sweet pancake. Or maybe it's more of a cake? Or maybe they're just warm eggs filled with happiness and unicorn tears. Whatever they may be, they're delicious and seriously addictive and I can't believe I've lived this long without Egg Puffs in my life. read more

Arguably one of the most authentic place for egg puffs in Boston. I've tried egg puffs in Hong Kong and I can confidentially say these are comparable to the ones in HK. This stand has been around for as long as I can remember (over 15 years) which just shows the sustainability of this snack. You can find this egg puff stand inside a mini food court ran by a Chinese lady. 30 egg puffs for $3, cash only. There's no space to sit down as this is an on-the-go snack. read more

I haven't been there for a while since the pandemic, they have some new styles and you can't miss the salted egg yolk!!!!! That tasted really good read more

Egg Puffs only sells these small egg shaped snack size street food. It's located in a food court type place in a building in Chinatown. I have been to Hong Kong a couple times in the past but never got to try these out. With that being said, I don't have a good comparison on what it should taste like. I have to say I am a fan. If I were to compare them to something Americans are familiar, I would say it tastes like a waffle or pancake- some sort of breakfast food. The consistency is good, a bit crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. It's $3 for about 20 puffs. Not a bad snack in Chinatown, especially if you're fan of waffles. read more

Egg Puffs - Egg puffs $3 - Waffles Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

Seems like every time I come here the price keeps getting hiked up. It's just baked pieces of dough, not crack rocks.... Use to be an excellent snack but for another quarter you can get a ban mi from Mei Sum, or like...5 warm taro buns... You do the math. read more

I absolutely love this tiny place in chinatown! I crave it allll the time. Eggpuffs are so addicting and the old lady is really nice. I definitely try to stop by this place everytime I'm in chinatown. 2.50 per bag which probably holds 20 little eggpuffs which taste like waffle-ish pancake. read more

I love these egg puffs ! they are not too sweet but not too bland either. They are tiny little things like waffle that come together. The lady who sells them are very nice, too :) I had these yesterday and some of them were burnt, however SHE MADE THEM AGAIN FOR ME ...she will do the same for you. Quality is a priority at this small vendor ! The only reason why i took one star off was because they don't have that crunchiness like the one I had in Hong Kong and Shang Hai. But please don't let this stop you from getting them they are absolutely amazing :) read more

The owners of this stand can basically be my grandparents. I've lived in the Boston area basically my entire life, and this was my childhood favourite. I've enjoyed egg puffs ever since I was little and my mom would give me some money to go buy a bag for my sisters and I to share. This food court area used to be a lot different from what it looks like today, and I remember when there was also a banh mi stand right next to it! I love the egg puffs here. They're perfectly made, and I've never had them burnt or anything! I've always found them to be the most delectable treat and so utterly perfect. I love it here, and will always be coming back! read more

I love these things! The lady makes it fresh as you order. Some kind of pancake batter I guess but it's great! You gotta eat it while hot so you still get the crispy edges :) read more

5 stars for price and total satisfaction If you've lost your wallet, but somehow found $2.75 in your pockets, treat yourself to a bag of these morsels of carby goodness. Even if you have your wallet, do yourself a favor and find the egg puff lady. The batter is just the right amount of sweet and it's an easily shareable treat if you and your friends are stuffed from a meal. read more

Open seven days a week now! So get your egg puff fix any day 11-7pm! Best egg puffs in this city. Actually, I don't think there are any other ones you can find in Boston or Cambridge. You can't beat this for the price and taste. Take a bag of fresh egg puffs, walk around the park, much on it, and it's pretty much the best thing ever! The best ones are the still soft, but gooey and hot ones. Melt in your mouth amazingly good! read more

I've never had egg puffs until this place came into my life. I used to go to avana a lot (the sushi place right next to the egg puff cart. It's normally made by this old grandma who's really nice. It's the best when she makes it for you right then and there but sometimes she has them made. (Not as good). One time she burnt one a little bit but I said it's okay and she gave it to me for $2 instead of $3. These egg puffs are not too sweet which is why you can eat so many without feeling guilty. (Although I am sure they are still really bad for you) It's slightly crunch on the edges and soft on the inside. I recommend eating it immediately. It's so warm that even in the Boston cold, it will warm you right up. read more

My friend and I were visiting Chinatown and randomly stumbled upon this tiny food court. I noticed the poster for egg puffs, so I immediately wanted to check them out since I don't see them too often. One woman has two of the molds going at once. I got lucky and didn't have to wait at all for my egg puffs, which were only $2.75. I did wish they were slightly crispier, but they still made for a nice snack. read more

I FOUND IT AGAIN!!! This cart has been here ever since I was a little kid! I used to get them every time my dad took me to Chinatown (which was a lot). It was gone for a while when they renovated the building, but the same really nice old lady is still the one who makes them. Bless her heart, they are so good! They're little egg shaped puffs made from a batter that's just soooooo amazing! Definitely a must have, hands down. You turn into a kid when she's bagging them for you=) read more

Delicious egg puffs. Only 3 dollars for a fresh batch and they are more on the doughy side which I love. Definitely would go back! This place is cash only so make sure you bring Some or else you won't be able to get any and you'll be disappointed! read more

Doesn't look like much, but these a highly addicting and delicious, a MUST TRY!!!

ohhh egg puffs! My friends are obsessed with these.. I hate it when it's leftover...that means it's cold! If you want a fresh batch, you have to wait for her to make it..that takes about 10 mins or less. Pretty much the only place in boston to have these..otherwise you go to NYC.. I've had really good ones in asia, a bit crispy on the outside and soo soft inside, these are just soft all around... I mean even the quality in asia is going down, so these are okay. Maybe I should get a egg puff machine on my own and make them .. food for thought. :P read more

Must stop for the chocolate egg puffs, yummy and such an innovative fresh addition! Easy to find-go to the back past the other vendors.

Yum!!! Egg Puffs is a little cart inside 42 Beach Street next to a Banh Mi stand and a sushi stand. The lady who owns the cart makes the egg puffs right there for you once you order. An order of egg puffs will do you $2.50 for 30 pieces. They are light and fluffy, with a pleasant sweet eggy taste - kinda like a puffy pancake but waaaayyy better! read more

The BEST egg puffs! Much better than the ones in NYC too. If you get them at the right time, they're hot, soft, and slightly crispy around the edges. You just go up, ask for a bag, and eat them on the go. I feel like this is the only place to actually get egg puffs in the area. I used to get them when I was in chinatown when I was little and they're just as good now, albeit more expensive. The lady who makes them upgraded her cart too. It used to be half the size it was without the cute little chick logo. read more

This place was pretty hard to find. It really is at the intersection of Tyler St & Harrison Ave. Once you're at the intersection, just look around for a place that says Food Court... The place itself really isn't a food court. Itz a size of a small cafe space, cramped with 3 (or 4) different places inside. Needless to say, I was pretty excited when I found this place. Finding these egg puffs were like tracking down an amazingly good food truck. Anyways, I finally go in the food court and saw the cute, pink little cart. I was so happy, but I didn't see the old azn lady that supposably works there. The paper on the glass says it opens from 11AM-6PM. I got there at 12, and had to wait a while for a young lady to come in. She took 10 min to prep everything, and I got my puffs for 2.75!!! The puffs weren't as great as I thought it would be, but it was still pretty authentic and yummy! read more

A common Chinese comfort snack, these egg puffs resemble American waffle bites or even similar to cake pops. Tucked away inside a building, it was hard for me to find this place because it's located in a mini "mall plaza." You have to open the front entrance to a foyer where you then open another door to get into the room in which Egg Puffs shares space with a Japanese eatery. There should be signs for "Egg Puffs" and the other restaurants outside the front entrance so keep an eye out for that. I was attracted by its resemblance to waffle bites. Can't I just make these at home? Most likely but I had to see what the rave was about. I knew I had to have a taste of Asia, see what makes their version so special. For $3, you get about 30 ping pong sized(maybe smaller) egg puffs inside a brown paper bag(be careful grease can seep through!). Slightly seared on outside for slight crisp bite and super moist on the inside...it was like eating chips; popping one after another into my mouth because it was so addicting. Great to share with friends too. Another reviewer said that they used to charge $1.25 which now I come to think of it, sounds more reasonable. I also saw that it was raised to $2.75 but now it stands at $3. Glad to see business is booming but I feel like if they keep raising the $, it might steer away potential or past customers like me! Also if you can, try to get freshly cooked ones rather than the pre-made batch that has been sitting out. I had a pre-made one, still tasted warm and very delicious but I wonder what a fresh batch would compare. read more

Not as good as the ones in HK but it will satisfy your craving. Come earlier if you want fresh ones cos the lady that makes it probably leaves around 4pm? We had to settle for the ones that were sitting out although they were still a little warm read more

Egg Puffs - Waffles Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

It's amazing how sometimes the most simple things are the best. This older woman pours pre-made batter out of a jug into a classic "Danish" pancake ball pan (or some Chinese and Cambodians use it also for other things) and cooks it over 2 stove top burners. She then flips it and places it into an electric skillet to keep warm. I'm not sure what the overhead for rental etc costs but the supplies and ingredients are pretty basic yet people LOVE that stuff. The egg puffs are like a sweeter version of a fluffy pancake. Since they are cooked in a ball pan, there is an even outer layer of crisp to contrast with the soft and (sometimes) gooey inside, which probably contains raw eggs ans we shouldn't be eating. Nonetheless, the treat is delicious and special! read more

As far as egg puffs go, this place is only ok. The smaller pieces make better for sharing, but at $2.75 for a bag of 30, it's definitely more expensive that what you typically find. To my knowledge, it's the only place in Boston so the prices are warranted. The smell is fragrant and subtle sweet like a waffle or little pieces of pancakes that straw from the whole. My co-workers liked it, but if you are a true egg puff snob you may be disappointed or happy that it can fill your Boston egg puff void. read more

It's definitely a fun little snack, comparable to waffle bites, only softer. Slightly crispy on the edges and doughy on the inside. They aren't overly sweet, so powdered sugar or with a chocolate dipping sauce would be really wonderful! It's worth the $3 to try these egg puffs, but they are a tad over rated for a simple dessert. read more
