If you used to come here pre-COVID, it's time to return. There is a new owner, and she has greatly improved the quality of the food! It used to be a mediocre lunch of last resort, but now I actually buy lunch here on purpose. It's basically an office building cafe, so you won't find and extensive menu, but it's wonderful to have this revamped breakfast and lunch spot in the building. read more

Came here unexpectedly since we had to change our plans (South Street Diner lost electricity and was temporarily closed), so we walked around and stumbled into this place. Quiet and unassuming, we had no idea what to expect. However, the food we ordered were fresh, delicious, impressive, amazing, and fabulous. In short, I was in my feelings. I ordered the waffle (with maple syrup - you had the option of honey and regular syrup), apple danish (since it's fall, after all) and the caramel bliss (espresso, milk, vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, frozen caramel bits). I thought I was going to fall into a sugar coma but everything balanced each other well and none of these items were intensely sweet. They were the perfect level of sweetness. Their regular coffee was tasty. I'm hooked on this place... Lawddd faddah. Also, the persons who served us were exceedingly helpful and attentive. I'm happy I stumbled into this spot since I plan on visiting it again the next time I visit Boston. I recommend checking it out. read more

Today I was in the mood to change up my coffee and decided to try Kneeland Cafe. It is a quick 5 min walk from my office and figured why not stop in. I expected to pay close to what Starbucks charges for coffee, but was pleasantly surprised with the affordable menu. I ordered a large hot cafe mocha and a breakfast bagel. The service was quick and attentive. I was third in line, and was out within 5 min. The inside is cute and cozy, with classic cafe pictures and a small table to look out onto Kneeland st. This is a pleasant surprise! An small eatery tucked in Chinatown serving great and affordable food, what more can I ask for? I went in expecting to pay through my nose but was surprised to see the variety and quality. Imagine sandwiches and drinks at unheard of prices. It's one of the few places which has mango iced tea, my summer and winter go to drink. Iced coffee was strong without being bitter or that burned bean taste. Just wish they have a bathroom close by. The convenience factor of this place is great since it is in the same building I work in. I have been coming here at least once a week for the last few months. -The staff is always friendly. Usually there are only two people working in the morning and on a few occasions neither have been in the front to wait on customers. -Their prices are great-- $2.25 for a medium iced coffee and between $4 and $5 for a breakfast sandwich! Cash prices are cheaper and take less time then if you had to pay and sign for a card. - The menu can be a little confusing. There is an item on the breakfast menu called a 'vegan' start that contains both egg and cheese. Overall, I enjoy coming to this cafe, but there are certainly some quirks. read more

When you take people's orders through the phone that's when you charge the persons card not whenever you feel like it. That's how you confuse yourself and add in whatever you feel like. I know you're able to charge someone when you're talking to them on the phone because I've waited in line when you have done that before. I always have my card on me the only reason I call my order in is like every other person when they want their order done faster. You never give me any receipt, you always rip them off the bag before you pass it on to me. Or if I come in and give you my card right then and there you have me sign off on the receipt but never give me one. But, I like how you start off your little story by adding in jabs. Shows how guilty you are and yes I made sure I wrote this review before my work to warn other people since I'm not the first person you have done this to. Accusing me of sending you a private message is pretty hilarious to me. Either you've ripped off another person named Ruth or you've made a fake profile of me to send yourself a ridiculous soap opera message to make yourself more like the victim. It makes no sense why I would send you a message on a different profile with my name to have another profile with my name. So next time you try to frame people put a little more effort into it. Honestly, this place is wonderful. I've been working at Tufts Med for over a year now, I've seen what the area has to offer, and I'll just say this: 1. Best breakfast sandwiches in easy walking distance, hands down (not including Mike and Pattys, but that's a bit far off). Get the Spicy Start on an English Muffin. $4. It's incredible. 2. Best smoothies in the area, hands down. You can pick whatever fruits you want from their selection and they blend it fresh, I recommend yogurt and orange juice base. Their smoothies are simply thicker and better than what you get at the multiple dedicated smoothie places nearby. Under $5 too. I get them all the time. 3. Best cookies you could ask for. They heat them for you, it's like going to the Otis Spunkmeyer booth at the bazaar as a child, they melt in your mouth. This is all I've tried there so far. The consistency of quality and low price has really impressed me and my coworkers. We all go there regularly. I'd advise people to start doing the same. read more

I work in the building in which the café resides, and at first, I was very excited at the convenience factor. however, my excitement was soon squashed. The first red flag was the difficulty, and almost hostility, I received when paying with a debit/credit card. Myself and co-workers have all been told numerous times that " we charge you more for using cards." This rubbed my the wrong way, so I looked up Massachusetts State Laws regarding this "fee" and quickly found that businesses are not allowed to tack on extra change as a penalty for using a card, however, they are more than welcome to offer a discount for those paying with cash. FINE. The menu prices listed, however, are their cash prices, so when you do pay with card, you're charged more than the menu price. I realize this is a small verbiage formality and that I'm just sounding cheap, but my feelings of being cheated have only worsened with additional transactions... I have ordered the same latte, same size, same flavor shot, same woman making it, three times. The first two times, I paid with card and was charged $4.00. The listed price for my latte was 3.25, so I was confused at how tax and their 'card upcharge' fee tacked on an exact extra 75 cents. The third time around I happened to have cash, and sadly when handed my coffee, was again charged $4.00. At this point I was already unhappy with their menu pricing, so I contested it. The woman didn't know how to react. Her tactic was to point at the menu board and claim that the latte is 3.25 and tax is not included in that price. After some more discussion she reveals that my flavor shot is .35 ( which is not mentioned on their menu board). At his point I'm feeling like I might just be crazy, but she turns her computer monitor to me and punches the order in. She comes out with a total of 3.79 or so, just hands me 30 cents, and apologizes. So my question is this, if I am being charged 4.00, but their system thinks it received 3.80, where does that 20 cents go? I realize that 20 cents is a small sum, and that I may be over reacting, however, after the numerous confusions and issues I have had with payment alone, I feel as if there is some shady money handling here. I still do not know how they calculate the price they charge, based on the price that's posted. Will Not Return. read more

We live right down the street and were so excited when the cafe opened! I drop in for a quick breakfast on my way to work. The service is quick and the food is delicious! Well priced for the area, and coffee is pretty good! They have a good selection of breakfast sandwiches and some delicious pastries. Service is always friendly - was slow in the beginning but definitely improving. As others noted, there were some growing pains in the beginning in terms of temperature regulation and credit cards (I can't remember the last time I even had cash in my pockets!), but from what I've seen they've addressed the challenges and are constantly improving.
