We found our server Jacqui was a refreshing ray of sunlight on a rainy Friday morning. The atmosphere inside is cute, airy and bright. Coffee - the worst part of our meal. It was ok, but not great. The coffee pot needed a scrubbing. Espresso shot - oh, much better than the coffee. And cheaper. Bacado Omelette - This was pretty much the best omelette I've had in the last 5 years. Simple, and oh-so-good. It was a shame that we only discovered this place at the end of our trip; otherwise, I would have come back here this omelette every day. With my keto restriction, I subbed the potatoes with a side salad. Side Salad - poppy seed dressing was delicious. The salad was surprisingly (since everything else was so good) NOT fresh. I had one of my favorite brunch in this restaurant with my friend. It's indeed a little gem!! I ordered an egg white veggie omelette and a sourdough toast side, while my friend got shakshuka and 2% milk. Both main dishes were amazing and we liked them. For me, I was at first a bit worried about my dish, as I never had egg white omelette before. Surprisingly, it was out of the world. The egg white was soft and lighter than full egg, and it was packed with fresh veggie. Plus, the tomato mash on the top of it was warm and thick; you can even see some diced tomatoes. It was also served with a side salsa verde which tasted a bit sour, thus adding more flavors to the omelette. Service was awesome as well. Our waiter greeted us warmly and explained the dishes we have question about with great patience. When he found that another stuff gave me sourdough with butter on it by mistake (I opted out butter), he immediately took it away and replaced it with one having no butter. I like Egg Harbor Cafe a lot, and I'm glad they've finally entered the Chicago market since they used to be solely in the suburbs. There have been times when I've gone to Glenview or something just because I was craving them. They have really good juice and their jam is really good too. But I'm disappointed that they've changed their menu! They used to have rosti on their menu, which is a Swiss potato-based dish of which Egg Harbor made a breakfast entree. That made it a bit different from the other breakfast places around, and that uniqueness is now gone. The food was good, but I can get an omelet at one of 50 other restaurants. They do do curbside, though, which is a big deal because I want to grab something on the way to work sometimes but parking here is negligible. The most frustrating part was placing the order, to be honest. I called to make an order, and there was the standard annoying menu, option two being placing an order. But... wait, that just sends me a text with a link?? Not helpful in the least. There is an option to talk to someone which is what I had to do but geez that's really freaking annoying. read more

The food amazing! It was very difficult to pick something because of everything look and sound so delicious. We got three different dish. The traditional meal is always the basic and good. I got a egg salad sandwich with cheese on both side with a tomato slice. It was decent. I wish it could had been better. The avocado toast was good. It had a little sweet taste that I expected. But it was still good. The popping salad with the egg salad sandwich was good, but it just got too sweet with every bite. Im usually not a sweet person. Egg Harbor has an impressive rating so my friend and I decided to give it a chance. Upon arriving, there were many people waiting to be seated. The host quoted us 20 mins for a table. They probably sat us in 15 though so two thumbs up for that! I created my own skillet with ham, pork chorizo and pepper Jack cheese. I subbed the French toast for a biscuit. I also got the brown sugar latte. The skillet was okay. The ham and the chorizo was probably salt overload. I couldn't even finish it because of how salty it was. The biscuit was amazing. We chose the restaurant based on reviews and proximity. The green iced tea they serve is delicious. I found the ultimate skillet to be kind of meh. It was very mushroom forward and could have used more ham, cheese or onions. Cremeni mushrooms would have been a much tastier option than the white sliced button mushrooms used in this dish. Their homemade jam, while tasty, is much too liquid. It gets absorbed into the muffin and can't be spread on top. Consequently, you need twice as much as you are served. This place is ok. The service was okay, a bit slow because it was on a busy weekend, but we were able to get a table within less than 15 minutes even though we had no reservation. For our breakfast, we ordered Avocado Toast w/ over-easy eggs, Lobster Scrambler, Garden Scrambler, Shakshuka w/ side of corn beef hash, Cinnamon Swirl Pancakes and Classic French Toast. Our server also must have heard us mention our friends' birthday because he surprised us with birthday pancakes for her, which was a really nice touch. The food came out quickly and was delicious. The best in our opinion was the Avocado Toast, Lobster Scrambler, Shakshuka and Cinnamon Swirl Pancakes. The corn beef hash fell slightly flat for me, was a bit dry, but was decent once I mixed it with the over-easy eggs. Personally the Cinnamon Swirl Pancakes were quite exceptional but I love cinnamon. I really enjoyed this spot. Stayed downtown for a night recently, and the next morning we were looking for somewhere sit down for a hearty breakfast. While Wildberry typically comes to mind, the wife and I were feeling adventurous and decided to try somewhere new. Quick search around the area, and Egg Harbor was very close to our hotel. No reservation needed on the weekday morning. It was almost empty. Staff and servers were all very friendly and welcoming. Food options range from omelettes to skillets to pancakes and various specialties in between. Ended up going with the lobster scramble and carnitas skillet. Both were excellent. Fresh, flavorful, and well seasoned. While I'm not usually an English muffin on the side kind of guy, I'll say it was delicious with their fresh made jam.
