I probably ordered the wrong item on the menu? My "Ultimate Skillet" was 75% potatoes, just filler, not much else. No meat, barely any other vegetables. Eggs and cheese on top to cover the potatoes. Lots and lots of roasted potato chunks. Dry. On the side, they thought the best pairing with potatoes is an English muffin. More dry carbs. The only thing to make it less dry was the bottled jam that was like syrup. I started dipping the potatoes in the jam. Needless to say, I was hungry and I was suffering to finish this meal. read more

I've seen so many Egg Harbor restaurants throughout Illinois and decided it was finally time to try it! My friend and I were able to walk in without a wait. This location is a cute, casual farm-style decorated restaurant. Our server was friendly and attentive, and service was fast. The food is decently priced and there are a lot of different options available. We ordered: - lobster scramble (4/5): lobster w/ seafood mix scramble topped with hollandaise sauce. It's so soft yet filled with a balanced amount of lobster/krab meat and veggies. It's served with buttered and toasted English muffins and a berry jam that tasted amazing. The potatoes weren't seasoned, but well cooked. - shrimp and grits (2/5): I was disappointed. The grits were rather dry and the dish overall did not have any flavor or seasoning. It was served with biscuits and honey jam, which made up for the dish. I would not recommend. Egg Harbor has great service, but I have mixed feelings about the food. If I were to return, I would definitely consider ordering other menu items. read more

Egg Harbor food is excellent and is the best restaurant in all of lake geneva, so I was very glad when I found one in the state of illinois the service, the young babies are very sweet and kind and very helpful.The obvious is a joyful place where people sit around and laugh and talk and enjoy themselves is definitely worth the trip.And they have great prices.I would suggest this restaurant to anyone and their skillets are amazing read more

Visiting from out of town and the best part of the experience was the other customers. First the silverware was dirty. Had to request multiple sets for our party of six. Crispy bacon was raw Skillet was overcooked with burnt potatoes and lacked protein. Minimal bacon stuck to the skillet. I was able to rescue some sausage and service was very slow. So glad Zi had sunflower seeds to eat read more

Great spot off of Michigan! Stayed at the Intercontinental and got on the waitlist through their website. Ten minute walk, sat down for 5 minutes and our table was ready. Great choice of scrambler, skillet or omelette. I selected build your own skillet. I had turkey sausage, jalapeño and cheese. I also chose sweet potato's versus regular for the extra vitamin A. They also have fresh squeezed orange juice. We ordered a cinnamon roll to share which was perfect for sharing and very good. My wife got two eggs and fruit. The homemade jam was really good on an English muffin. Great spot with something for everyone for breakfast. read more

In a town where everything is expensive, highly taxed, and generally snobby (sorry, staying on the Magnificent Mile and unfortunately, that's the general vibe)... this place is a gem! We found our server Jacqui was a refreshing ray of sunlight on a rainy Friday morning. The atmosphere inside is cute, airy and bright. Coffee - the worst part of our meal. It was ok, but not great. The coffee pot needed a scrubbing. Espresso shot - oh, much better than the coffee. And cheaper. Bacado Omelette - This was pretty much the best omelette I've had in the last 5 years. Simple, and oh-so-good. It was a shame that we only discovered this place at the end of our trip; otherwise, I would have come back here this omelette every day. With my keto restriction, I subbed the potatoes with a side salad. Side Salad - poppy seed dressing was delicious. The salad was surprisingly (since everything else was so good) NOT fresh. They were definitely not chopped up that morning as the ends were browning. I'm still giving the place 5 stars cuz the omelette was so good. Matt's Meaty Skillet - good, but hubby was so jealous of my omelette. It was on the salty side, though overall, pretty flavorful. Come back? Of course. And we're all sticking with their omelettes over their skillets. And espresso over their coffee. read more

After an early morning flight and an early check-in at the Sheraton we stumbled over here for some essential fuel. Wife enjoyed her Tuna melt and I enjoyed the cinnamon roll pancakes- these were like taking a cooked cinnamon roll, cutting it into slices and then tossing it back on the flat top for a few minutes to crust em up; delicious. Washed it down with a Bloody Mary- good mix disappointed it wasn't served with an olive though- pickle and lemon were their choices. Solid spot if you're in the area. read more

Egg Harbor Café has plenty of seating and a really nice outdoor patio area. I ordered a skillet, and it was packed with great flavor -- definitely hit the spot. I also tried the strawberry orange juice, which didn't taste too much like strawberry but was still refreshing. Our food came out fast, and the whole experience was smooth and easy. I had one of my favorite brunch in this restaurant with my friend. It's indeed a little gem!! I ordered an egg white veggie omelette and a sourdough toast side, while my friend got shakshuka and 2% milk. Both main dishes were amazing and we liked them. For me, I was at first a bit worried about my dish, as I never had egg white omelette before. Surprisingly, it was out of the world. The egg white was soft and lighter than full egg, and it was packed with fresh veggie. Plus, the tomato mash on the top of it was warm and thick; you can even see some diced tomatoes. It was also served with a side salsa verde which tasted a bit sour, thus adding more flavors to the omelette. Service was awesome as well. Our waiter greeted us warmly and explained the dishes we have question about with great patience. When he found that another stuff gave me sourdough with butter on it by mistake (I opted out butter), he immediately took it away and replaced it with one having no butter. Finally, the cafe was all wooden-style and beautifully decorated. This gave me a "feeling of nature", which really brightened my mood in the early morning. read more

We used to live in Streeterville but this place was not open at that time. We were in the are fall of 2022 and we had to take advantage and dine in. Food was fresh and the portions were big enough to share with my wife. The coffee is nice and service was excellent too. We even bought a pair of matching mugs to bring back to Texas. They are hand crafted and the logo is so darn cute, zoom in on bean and check out the rooster standing on top. Highly recommend this place. read more

Highly recommend using their waitlist; especially on the weekends when they're busy. When we joined the waitlist it was 45 mins with over 20 parties ahead of us. Before coming on this trip I decided to look at different brunch places all around Chicago. I bookmarked this place to try and it was the Egg Harbor Cafe. When we got here the place was busy and filled with people. We waited about 10 minutes to get seated. Our server was super quick with us and asked for our drink orders. During that time they had a special menu which I ordered from. It was the pot roast skillet. I'm a fan of pot roast so I thought it would be a nice hearty meal. The only thing I wish they had more mushrooms in it. The vegetables were quite limited in the meal. But it did have a ton of beef. Also tried the Winter in Italy French Toast. Wow that is some super sweet French toast. I would say having maybe half of that is what you would need. My friend had a healthy breakfast which he did enjoy. Overall it is a nice place to have food at. The menu has many items from sweet to savory. The coffee was just ok. read more

Came here with on Sunday for brunch as our hotel was a short walk away. There was a bit of a wait, but definitely was worth it. I had the Shakshuka which was poached perfectly, the cheese melted nicely into the sauce which I soaked up with the English muffin. Came with a nice jam. I like Egg Harbor Cafe a lot, and I'm glad they've finally entered the Chicago market since they used to be solely in the suburbs. There have been times when I've gone to Glenview or something just because I was craving them. They have really good juice and their jam is really good too. But I'm disappointed that they've changed their menu! They used to have rosti on their menu, which is a Swiss potato-based dish of which Egg Harbor made a breakfast entree. That made it a bit different from the other breakfast places around, and that uniqueness is now gone. The food was good, but I can get an omelet at one of 50 other restaurants. They do do curbside, though, which is a big deal because I want to grab something on the way to work sometimes but parking here is negligible. The most frustrating part was placing the order, to be honest. I called to make an order, and there was the standard annoying menu, option two being placing an order. But... wait, that just sends me a text with a link?? Not helpful in the least. There is an option to talk to someone which is what I had to do but geez that's really freaking annoying. read more

The food amazing! It was very difficult to pick something because of everything look and sound so delicious. We got three different dish. The traditional meal is always the basic and good. I got a egg salad sandwich with cheese on both side with a tomato slice. It was decent. I wish it could had been better. The avocado toast was good. It had a little sweet taste that I expected. But it was still good. The popping salad with the egg salad sandwich was good, but it just got too sweet with every bite. Im usually not a sweet person. The sausage link was good, it had a savory taste and not sweet! The service was great! The waiter and waitress were awesome! They were quick with cleaning up and always asking if we needed anything else! Great customer services! The atmosphere was nice. It was quiet at 7 in the morning but it got more lively as time came. Had a great breakfast and overall experience here! Every time I pass by Egg Harbor, it looks super busy. I went in on a Monday at 9am and I still had to wait 10 minutes. Not that I minded at all, just wanted to make a reference to that so you can plan ahead, especially if you're going on a weekend! The staff were all so kind and accommodating. Service was attentive without being smothering, and inside there are a lot of seating options. I love that the whole restaurant is windowed walls; makes it feel so airy and bright. I had a cold brew and a veggie Benedict which was so good! Everything came prepared well and I had about half of my entree and took the rest home, so portions are great! They also have a coffee bar and to go counter if you need something on the run or don't want to wait for a table. I definitely would ré-visit! read more

This place was amazing!!!! I had the banana bread french toast with eggs and bacon!!! Delicious! Hubby had the strawberry crunch french toast with eggs and sausage and he savored every bite. Definitely recommend trying this place. Coffee was good too. They bring you the karafe in case you want more. Our waiter was the best. Super nice and attentive!!! I was in the mood for breakfast this morning which is rare. I turned to Yelp and started looking up breakfast places nearby. Egg Harbor has an impressive rating so my friend and I decided to give it a chance. Upon arriving, there were many people waiting to be seated. The host quoted us 20 mins for a table. They probably sat us in 15 though so two thumbs up for that! I created my own skillet with ham, pork chorizo and pepper Jack cheese. I subbed the French toast for a biscuit. I also got the brown sugar latte. The skillet was okay. The ham and the chorizo was probably salt overload. I couldn't even finish it because of how salty it was. The biscuit was amazing. You can tell it made in house. The exterior is so crispy and the inside was soft and buttery! The latte was also excellent! I would def return to try their other dishes. read more

Love getting brunch here! It always smells so good when you walk by and the food is just as good as it smells. They have huge portions of your favorite sweet and savory dishes. I'm a fan of their skillets and will usually try to share a sweet dish like their French toast or pancakes. The prices are very reasonable for their portions and the quality. It does tend to get pretty busy during peak hours so there may be a wait! read more

The egg harbor Cafe seems like an institution in the downtown/ magnificent Mile area. The only real challenge here is getting a table, definitely put your name on the wait list through the Yelp app. The cinnamon roll was delicious and you should probably get that and share with friends and family. We got the skillets and enjoyed them. The wait staff are excellent here, our waitress was a gem. The disappointment for me personally was they removed the biscuits and gravy off the menu. Prices were also a bit high, close to Los Angeles prices, but considering you're in the rich area of town... It makes sense read more

I really enjoyed this spot. Stayed downtown for a night recently, and the next morning we were looking for somewhere sit down for a hearty breakfast. While Wildberry typically comes to mind, the wife and I were feeling adventurous and decided to try somewhere new. Quick search around the area, and Egg Harbor was very close to our hotel. No reservation needed on the weekday morning. It was almost empty. Staff and servers were all very friendly and welcoming. Food options range from omelettes to skillets to pancakes and various specialties in between. Ended up going with the lobster scramble and carnitas skillet. Both were excellent. Fresh, flavorful, and well seasoned. While I'm not usually an English muffin on the side kind of guy, I'll say it was delicious with their fresh made jam. We chose the restaurant based on reviews and proximity. The green iced tea they serve is delicious. I found the ultimate skillet to be kind of meh. It was very mushroom forward and could have used more ham, cheese or onions. Cremeni mushrooms would have been a much tastier option than the white sliced button mushrooms used in this dish. Their homemade jam, while tasty, is much too liquid. It gets absorbed into the muffin and can't be spread on top. Consequently, you need twice as much as you are served. This place is ok. Not a breakfast I'd rave about or order again. read more

1 star The food at Egg Harbor Cafe on 220 E Illinois is good, but the service left much to be desired. Our server arrived in a rush, with no eye contact, shaking his head, and clearly upset even before reaching our table. Our order had three mistakes, and despite pretending to understand, the server got it wrong. To top it off, we were charged for an item that never arrived--a pancake--and even after explaining this, we were still charged. The poor service made the entire experience embarrassing for me and my family. It's disappointing because the food was good, clean, and served quickly, but it's hard to enjoy a meal when the service is so bad. The server either had an attitude or just wasn't in the mood. I hope management addresses this behavior and considers some training because I genuinely like the food here. As for the food, we ordered a custom omelet with mushrooms, green peppers, and cheddar cheese, which I'd rate 7 out of 10. It was fresh and prepared quickly, though I felt the eggs were slightly overcooked--it's challenging to get the right temperature for an omelet. We also ordered a hot chocolate without whipped cream, but it arrived with whipped cream. However, the employee (not the server) who brought it suggested fixing the error immediately, which was appreciated. Unfortunately, when the actual server returned, they were clearly in a disturbed mood, further dampening our experience. Started off okay--waited to pick up a rental car at the neighboring address-- so I dropped in to get coffee. Waited outside for a second but my rideshare said they were ten min late. I went back in, walked past the same server I bought coffee from, and sat down with my coffee I bought five seconds prior. Manager or whoever the jj reddick looking guy is gave me the dreaded, suspicious and side-eyed "can I help you with something sir?" there are mad people in here btw And I'm just sitting here. If I broke an egg rule just tell me nicely. I don't think I look that sketchy but egg harbour seems to think I need to explain why im here, even after making a purchase. Our server, Rachel, was absolutely lovely--so kind, attentive, and genuinely made us feel taken care of throughout our meal. The food was delicious across the board. We had a fantastic breakfast at Egg Harbor Cafe! My wife ordered the Caprese Avocado Toast, and I had the Eggsceptional Skillet Combo with bacon, mozzarella cheese, and tomatoes. I loved that I could choose my own ingredients, and the dish came with a side of fresh fruit and Banana Bread French Toast, which was a delicious bonus. The food was fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared, and the service was top-notch. Even though we came in with a stroller, the staff was incredibly accommodating and made sure we were comfortable. Great place. Located a block or so east of Michigan Ave and a block north of the river/Apple Store. Plenty of eating space inside and out. It was fairly close to our hotel about a half mile away which wasn't bad. When we got there, it was relatively crowded. I thought they only had a few tables inside and had the outdoor dining area but when I went to the restroom there was even more dining. Once our table was ready, we were seated outdoors since I figured why not enjoy the day. Perhaps not the best since it was noisy with the traffic and when the bridge went up just more pollution and noise. Once the bridge went back down - noise level went down and the smell of pollution moved. Food wise - we enjoyed it. I opted for the Nutella crepe which I finished with the help of my kids. My kids got full order of cakes which was a lot for them. My wife got an eggs Benedict which she enjoyed. Service was good - was attentive and kept refilling my coffee cup. Prices was reasonable, was a casual environment. I would come back again for breakfast and perhaps eat inside next time. !

Unfortunately, breakfast was mediocre and gave us a basic chain-diner experience without anything that made the food memorable. My boyfriend ordered the standard eggs Benedict. He said it was fine, but he would not return for the food. I ordered a bagel with cream cheese and a salted caramel latte. The bagel was completely standard, and the latte tasted like regular coffee with too much flavored syrup added. Chicago has so many excellent independent coffee shops that I regretted using my morning caffeine allotment here. Nothing was truly bad, but nothing gave us a reason to return.

My friend got the burrito, iced coffee and strawberry orange juice.

Just happened to be walking by it on our way to the Field Museum and were wondering where we would eat, so we stopped in. Quaint little place inside the Pittsfield building. We were greeted and seated promptly. Decent sized menu and they serve breakfast all day, so it worked out well for us. I'm not a breakfast person, so i ordered the Pastrami sandwich, but my daughter ordered pancakes w/strawberries and sausage. Food came up quickly and it was good. We ate every morsel on both of our plate. Service was good as well. We'd return.

When we arrived around 8:15am, there were plenty of tables inside and outside on their tree covered patio, and the staff let us know we could sit anywhere we liked. We chose a table inside but the outside area is beautiful if you want to enjoy the Chicago summer. Our server arrived quickly and was very friendly. The kitchen was so fast it felt like she took our order, walked back to the kitchen, and returned with our meals. Their standard egg breakfasts come with a stack of pancakes - you can pay a little more to upgrade to one of the fun flavors, so we chose blueberry. The portions were so massive I ended up ordering two side dishes for my breakfast, and I still couldn't finish it all. The blueberry pancakes were filled with fresh blueberries and SO good, the egg scramble with feta was delicious, and the home fries were pretty good. Our server asked if I wanted them crispy. I said no, but I should have said yes. They were a little soft - still delicious - but you can tell they'd be even better with a bit of a crispy edge. The prices may seem a little high, but when you see how much food you get for the price, you'll realize what a deal it is. Each meal could easily feed two people! We were in and out in under an hour and everyone who worked here was lovely. We will definitely be back to try more of the menu on our next visit!

This location was in close proximity to The London House Hotel. It was literally around the corner. If you would rather not eat at the hotel, I strongly suggest checking out this spot. When we walked in we saw the computer screens that are utilized to place orders. However, the staff did mention that if we had any questions about the menu we were free to ask. I ordered the turkey bacon & cheese sandwich and my friend opted for the original royal west. I had coffee to drink and my friend had the honey lemonade. After paying we secured a table at the rear of the restaurant. When our food was ready they simply call out the name you placed the order under and you must retrieve your own food. This is bet much a self serve restaurant! The egg sandwich was just as good as I recall it being the first time I tried it. The eggs are soft, flavorful and just melt in your mouth. Everything about this sandwich is positive! My friend did not realize his sandwich came with an over medium egg. He does not like over medium eggs so he did not enjoy his sandwich as much as I enjoyed mine. However, I let him try mine and he understood why I was hyping this place up!! Now what he did enjoy was that honey lemonade. He is still taking about that lemonade! The only suggestion I have is to allow customers to sample the drinks. When we were leaving my friend was going to get a lemonade to go, but said since he enjoyed the lemonade so much he would give the tea a try. I asked if he could sample it first and I was told they don't offer samples, unfortunately he did not enjoy the tea as much as he enjoyed the lemonade. The eggs on these sandwiches are PERFECT, and don't even get me started on the brioche bread... OMG. Whoever came up with this concept knew exactly what they were doing. The funniest part? This place was literally sitting right behind our hotel the entire time, and we didn't go until the LAST DAY of our trip. ‍ Talk about missing out! My wife and I both really enjoyed it, and now I'm wishing we had discovered it sooner. If you're in the area, definitely stop by and give them a try. Egg Tuck gets the stamp from us. I regret to share that after trying them a couple times, I find myself less than impressed. Speaking with others working in the building, they generally share my sentiment. The one thing I want to give them credit for is their pastries. These are of high quality, flaky, fresh tasting, and not sugar bombs. Alas, I then made the mistake of ordering breakfast, and then later an appetizer at happy hour. So... For breakfast, I got a combo which consisted of eggs, meat, bread, and potatoes. The eggs were more of a over-hard than over-medium, but after spending some time in the container, this could have been radiant heat of everything else - in others words, forgivable. What isn't forgivable is that the potatoes had three times the normal amount of salt. Before you say yikes, I have a bigger one for you: the chicken sausage; this was burnt to the point of charcoal! Yikes. Then came a different visit at happy hour. I wanted to order the first item on the drink menu, but they were out of an ingredient. I wanted to order the second, but they were ALSO out of an ingredient. The drink the bartender made me was good, but not what I initially wanted, or the backup I wanted to it. As for an app, I ordered the spiral potato, which failed as bad as the breakfast. First, it was cooked inconsistently, with the inside being underdone. Worse still, it too had an obscene amount of salt. A case when I sent food back. Final verdict: I will give T.G.E.C. credit for great pastries, but that is where I have to stop. While the prices are somewhat reasonable, in exchange one gets WAY oversalted and overdone or underdone food. See a drink you like on the menu... they don't have it. At this rate, I rather go elsewhere, for the area is far from a desert.

My coworkers really enjoyed the tortilla soup and the housemade sodas. I also ordered a 77 Fog Latte, which is their version of a london fog and it was solid. The ambiance is clean and open. There is a lot of natural light that comes into the restaurant. I think this would be a great place to study or do work. Service was quick and friendly. I would come again.
