This was a great choice to grab breakfast on my final day in downtown Chicago. It was amazing. Our drinks arrived so fast and the food options were great and everything we ordered was delicious. Great spot for a large breakfast or a quick bite if you come when they open! They have something for everyone on the menu. I got here just before they opened at 7am but they let me come in early. The food came out fast even as the place started filling up. I can see how this place will get busy. Cappuccino - this came in their regular mug so it was giant! GF Cinnamon Roll Breakfast with 2 eggs over medium, bacon, and sub mixed berries for potatoes - the gluten-free cinnamon roll was good. The roll itself was not overly sweet; the cream cheese frosting gives it sweetness. It was a little undercooked for how I normally liked them but that probably helps it from not getting dried out. The bacon was undercooked for me too; the fat parts were white and squishy. The egg whites were cooked with a runny yolk. The berries was maybe 1.5 cups of blueberries, strawberries, and blackberries! Such a large portion! My waiter said the dish usually comes with a fruit cup and potatoes but I didn't want the latter. The fruit cup would have been melon slices so the berry cup was perfect. I had so much I took the rest of the berries with me in a to go cup! My server Omar was great. He suggested a gluten-free menu as soon as I mentioned I am GF. He will take care of you if you get one of his tables! Let me also say the gluten-free menu is large, 2 pages with everything from gf sandwiches, gf pancakes, egg skillets, and more. They have many options and will notify the kitchen to cook your things more carefully of you tell them you're gluten-free. read more

My boyfriend and I stopped here for brunch after a long day of travel and it was just what we needed. The menu is large and has great variety, fun fall specials, and they don't charge extra for add-ons like syrup, chocolate chips, etc... The service was also wonderful. Both the hostess and our waitress we very friendly and accommodating. I recommend looking on the website ahead of time to check out the wait time. We jumped on the wait list on our walk over and timing worked out perfectly. They did forgot my coffee until the food came out which was a bummer, but they offered a togo cup. One suggestion is to add all the coffee options to the brunch menu. I would not have known they had cold brew or lattes if the waitress didn't inform me! read more

I'm not a breakfast/brunch person but I always enjoy my experience here! They have flavorful food and unique twists on classic breakfast/brunch items that make it more interesting than other breakfast and brunch places! I've been to both locations and the menu is the same. I enjoy savory options. I like the skillets and crêpes. The café drinks are also rich and tasty! They have great Blood Marys too. The staff are nice and friendly, and the service is pretty quick. The ambience is casual, but they have their own vibe/branding that's apparent in both locations. You can even buy their merchandise. The only thing I don't like is the servers stand there with the credit card reader when it's time to pay so you feel a bit rushed doing it. read more

My wife and I went here on the tail end of our 13th wedding anniversary weekend. We had sort of a wait; as to be expected for early Sunday morning breakfast. The place is cozy and definitely lives up to it's name. You can tell the place has its regulars and gets some good business which is a plus! Our server Charity M was great. Being in tourist central Miracle Mile), it was no surprise that this spot was jumping on an early Friday morning. We were quickly seated and served coffee to help us shake off the morning fog. Good strong coffee, but how about the food? Our server, Elijah, was very helpful with menu suggestions, and he didn't steer us wrong. (Outstanding service from Elijah, by the way...) I want to share that the food is pretty good but that's not the reason for a 3-4 star review. The restaurant was clean and lively and cute when we arrived. You could do an online waiting so you can be in line ahead of time. But when we arrived, expect to still be waiting for a waiter, menu, drinks, etc. the waiting time was so long and when we ordered drinks, our server often forgot about it and brought the drinks kinda late. The food was pretty good. I got one of the omelets, can't remember the name but all sounded really good. The drink was a frozen honey cappuccino and that was pretty good. However, my friend got the maple syrup bacons and we had to ask to return it. The bacon was burnt, and super hard. Like you could pick it up and hit it on the plate and it tasted burnt. That was pretty disappointing. Otherwise, food was good but service was pretty lacking. Honestly I would still recommend because all food tasted pretty good. Just keep in mind if the service. Egg Harbor is my favorite breakfast spot in Chicago! I'm not sure if it is because I grew up eating at Egg Harbor's Lake Geneva location, but every time I eat Egg Harbor here in Chicago, it gives me a very homey and satisfied experience. My favorite thing about Egg Harbor is that they offer unique menu items that you cannot get elsewhere, they prepare them with perfect flavor and plating, and they do it at an affordable price point. I've always believed that every restaurant in Chicago should offer a menu that doesn't simply mimic everybody else. My go-to recently has been the lobster scramble. It is very tasty and flavorful. They include a side of potatoes along with an English muffin & jam, which all-together provides a very filling meal. They also make very good coffee and will prepare it just how you ask :) I can think of two breakfast/brunch restaurants in Chicago that everyone should try, and Egg Harbor is one of them! read more

Delicious. Fresh. Rustic. This cafe is so cute and the food was fast and fresh! Elizabeth with a wonderful waitress and had great advice when it came to the menu. What we ordered: -Pot of Coffee: husband said it was good coffee. -Toffee Latte (hot): Devine! The whipped cream was my favorite part, but it was so good all around! - Aztecs Omelet: my husband said the dish was good and the Chorizo made the flavor a hit! The potatoes and English muffin came as sides and made the dish very filling! - Lobster Scramble: OMG! Decadent and soooo worth it! It was so creamy and filling. My hubby was definitely jealous! Went to brunch here over the weekend and was astounded by the extensive menu. However, I was significantly less impressed by the food. We ordered: -crepes -sweet potato skillet The poppy seed dressing that came with the crepes was a very odd pairing. I didn't enjoy the sauce and left it off the crepe, which made it dry and hard to wash down, although the actual flavor wasn't necessarily bad, just plain. The sweet potato skillet was decent, but similar to the crepes, it was dry and needed something more, like an aioli and more seasoning. Overall, the food was bland and would benefit greatly from a few star sauce options and some added herbs to give more flavor. read more

Lots of thought around how to make it welcoming for kids, too We came for the food--and we're not disappointed. My husband got the San Antonio skillet. It's got a kick yo it but was cooked perfectly. If you're unsure about the chorizo, it's a perfect peppery and crisp one. Go for it! I tried the farmers Benedict and was very impressed. The hollandaise has a very smooth and light texture, with a subtle hint of basil that perfects the stack. I might skip the artichoke next time, but overall it was Wonderful! So impressed by this spot! They managed to maintain a super cozy and homey feel while also excelling far past most of the classic cozy diners! Quality of the food was great, customer service was great, and they even had an ENTIRE GLUTEN FREE MENU! We got the berry oatmeal that came served with milk (I subbed oat milk), brown sugar, jam, an english muffin, and TONS of fresh fruit. I loved that they let you add the sugar yourself so that everyone can get the perfect sweetness for your liking. The fruit was great and super fresh. Probably the perfect oatmeal IMO! Also ordered the gluten free griddle cakes combo. They were super nice and let us sun the eggs for potatoes and didn't change extra. This place was a super cute brunch place!! Classy, chic, but cozy. The food was phenomenal, fresh, hot, high quality. I especially recommend the omelets and side potatoes with green onions, service was very fast and our waiters checked on us several times for drink refills. Most prices were between $14-17. $4 Coffee was nothing extraordinary but still tasty, and it was nice that they left the pitcher on the table so you could refill it at your leisure. All the staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful, even with the tons of hangry people they undoubtedly interact with on the daily, so props to all of them! Only reason it's 4 stars is because we had a few issues with getting a table, though we came on Memorial Day so that probably had something to do with it. We had some trouble with the check in. We did the online "jump on the waiting list" and arrived within our ten minute time window, but when we got there we were told it would be another 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, we got a text saying we had been taken off the waitlist, and I had to go in person again to get a table, so all around about 30-40 minutes wait. The girl working the check in was super friendly and kind, the issue just seemed like a website fluke or something. All in all, great experience and highly recommend! read more

My husband and I tried Egg Harbor for the first time before a 10am movie at the AMC down the street and we enjoyed it so much, I think this may be a new weekend movie tradition! We got there around 8:30am on a Sunday, so we didn't have to wait for a table, but by about 9/9:30 am we definitely noticed folks waiting around for tables (and more people were coming by the minute). We each got some hot coffee and an entree - I got 'Greg's chili and eggs' and my husband got a tradition breakfast + a maple bourbon bacon upgrade. We were both EXTREMELY HAPPY with our meals! My egg white omelette was jam packed with the chicken chili which was so heckin' tasty. Very well seasoned without being spicy. Their housemade jam is also killer on an English muffin. Another really pleasant surprise was their coffee rocked. I'm used to the ever flowing bitter coffee typically served at diner type restaurants, and the coffee at Egg Harbor blew away those expectations. It was almost fruity and served in a SUPER CUTE mug. I will need to purchase one of those the next time I go back. Overall, a really fantastic brunch spot with friendly staff, tasty food and coffee, and it's pretty decently priced.
