Interestingly Shashuka(one of my favs) and a signature Habanero Hash with chorizo and accompaniments, I ordered and added avocado. Rest of the table had an avo toast, a meaty skillet and an omelet, so we ran the gauntlet of many items... Great breakfast! Had to wait 20 min for a table, but ordered coffee and enjoyed it outside while we waited. My wife enjoyed the spicy Bloody Mary with a ton of garnishes with her tasty Avocado Toast. Toast was full of flavor on crusty Sourdough. My breakfast sandwich was full of perfectly scrambled eggs, bacon, and cheese, along with tomato. If I got it again, I would leave off the tomato. Came to get breakfast with my friends for one of their birthdays. We were checking on yelp and were drawn to the amazing pics of food and the high reviews so wanted to give it a shot. The restaurant itself gives a nice spacious small diner vibe. We were greeted right away and seated. Our waiter gave us our menus and came to us quickly. Since it was our friends birthday, we decided to all get some drinks to start it out. we got the strawberry-orange and orange mimosas. Came out it cute glasses but taste-wise, I think it wasn't the greatest hit for our group since most of us barely drank more than half. Could also just be the early morning. For our breakfast, we ordered Avocado Toast w/ over-easy eggs, Lobster Scrambler, Garden Scrambler, Shakshuka w/ side of corn beef hash, Cinnamon Swirl Pancakes and Classic French Toast. Our server also must have heard us mention our friends' birthday because he surprised us with birthday pancakes for her, which was a really nice touch. The food came out quickly and was delicious. The best in our opinion was the Avocado Toast, Lobster Scrambler, Shakshuka and Cinnamon Swirl Pancakes. The corn beef hash fell slightly flat for me, was a bit dry, but was decent once I mixed it with the over-easy eggs. Personally the Cinnamon Swirl Pancakes were quite exceptional but I love cinnamon. They seem to do exceptionally well with their egg dishes and the pancakes. I would definitely want to return to give a shot to some of their other omelettes and pancakes! read more

This breakfast place has a great patio and a large indoor seating area. We were waited on very quickly and the server was so friendly and grabbed our drink order pretty fast. Delicious vanilla cold brew! The joes health scrambler was absolutely perfect. It was filling enough while being served with fresh fruit and an English muffin. To drink I got the orange juice which was really good but it came in a glass like 3 or 4 inches tall which wasn't enough and was too expensive. The service and the creative and broad menu earn the stars here - the execution left a little to be desired. This was our first time so it could have just been an off day, but we both felt like while we had lots of great options to choose from, the ones we chose were disappointing. For example you can see in the picture that the strawberry crunch French toast was just doused in the strawberry cream cheese so much so that there was no crunch at all. This was a great choice to grab breakfast on my final day in downtown Chicago. It was amazing. Our drinks arrived so fast and the food options were great and everything we ordered was delicious. Great spot for a large breakfast or a quick bite if you come when they open! They have something for everyone on the menu. I got here just before they opened at 7am but they let me come in early. The food came out fast even as the place started filling up. I can see how this place will get busy. Cappuccino - this came in their regular mug so it was giant! GF Cinnamon Roll Breakfast with 2 eggs over medium, bacon, and sub mixed berries for potatoes - the gluten-free cinnamon roll was good. The roll itself was not overly sweet; the cream cheese frosting gives it sweetness. It was a little undercooked for how I normally liked them but that probably helps it from not getting dried out. The bacon was undercooked for me too; the fat parts were white and squishy. The egg whites were cooked with a runny yolk. The berries was maybe 1.5 cups of blueberries, strawberries, and blackberries! Such a large portion! My waiter said the dish usually comes with a fruit cup and potatoes but I didn't want the latter. The fruit cup would have been melon slices so the berry cup was perfect. I had so much I took the rest of the berries with me in a to go cup! My server Omar was great. He suggested a gluten-free menu as soon as I mentioned I am GF. He will take care of you if you get one of his tables! Let me also say the gluten-free menu is large, 2 pages with everything from gf sandwiches, gf pancakes, egg skillets, and more. They have many options and will notify the kitchen to cook your things more carefully of you tell them you're gluten-free. read more

This place is beautiful! I come here often as. UChicago student whenever I'm around at the downtown campus. I got their avocado toast which came with a side of eggs and fruits. The service was okay, a bit slow because it was on a busy weekend, but we were able to get a table within less than 15 minutes even though we had no reservation. Overall, great food and great atmosphere. The food was a bit overpriced in my opinion, but this should be expected given the area the cafe is located in! read more

They have flavorful food and unique twists on classic breakfast/brunch items that make it more interesting than other breakfast and brunch places! I've been to both locations and the menu is the same. I enjoy savory options. I like the skillets and crêpes. The café drinks are also rich and tasty! They have great Blood Marys too. The staff are nice and friendly, and the service is pretty quick. The ambience is casual, but they have their own vibe/branding that's apparent in both locations. You can even buy their merchandise. I want to share that the food is pretty good but that's not the reason for a 3-4 star review. The restaurant was clean and lively and cute when we arrived. You could do an online waiting so you can be in line ahead of time. But when we arrived, expect to still be waiting for a waiter, menu, drinks, etc. the waiting time was so long and when we ordered drinks, our server often forgot about it and brought the drinks kinda late. The food was pretty good. I got one of the omelets, can't remember the name but all sounded really good. The drink was a frozen honey cappuccino and that was pretty good. However, my friend got the maple syrup bacons and we had to ask to return it. The bacon was burnt, and super hard. Like you could pick it up and hit it on the plate and it tasted burnt. That was pretty disappointing. Otherwise, food was good but service was pretty lacking. Honestly I would still recommend because all food tasted pretty good. Just keep in mind if the service. The menu is large and has great variety, fun fall specials, and they don't charge extra for add-ons like syrup, chocolate chips, etc... The service was also wonderful. Both the hostess and our waitress we very friendly and accommodating. I recommend looking on the website ahead of time to check out the wait time. We jumped on the wait list on our walk over and timing worked out perfectly. They did forgot my coffee until the food came out which was a bummer, but they offered a togo cup. One suggestion is to add all the coffee options to the brunch menu. I would not have known they had cold brew or lattes if the waitress didn't inform me! read more

Egg Harbor is my favorite breakfast spot in Chicago! I'm not sure if it is because I grew up eating at Egg Harbor's Lake Geneva location, but every time I eat Egg Harbor here in Chicago, it gives me a very homey and satisfied experience. My favorite thing about Egg Harbor is that they offer unique menu items that you cannot get elsewhere, they prepare them with perfect flavor and plating, and they do it at an affordable price point. I've always believed that every restaurant in Chicago should offer a menu that doesn't simply mimic everybody else. My go-to recently has been the lobster scramble. It is very tasty and flavorful. They include a side of potatoes along with an English muffin & jam, which all-together provides a very filling meal. They also make very good coffee and will prepare it just how you ask :) I can think of two breakfast/brunch restaurants in Chicago that everyone should try, and Egg Harbor is one of them! read more

Lots of thought around how to make it welcoming for kids, too We came for the food--and we're not disappointed. My husband got the San Antonio skillet. It's got a kick yo it but was cooked perfectly. If you're unsure about the chorizo, it's a perfect peppery and crisp one. Go for it! I tried the farmers Benedict and was very impressed. The hollandaise has a very smooth and light texture, with a subtle hint of basil that perfects the stack. I might skip the artichoke next time, but overall it was Wonderful! Not nearly as heavy as Benedict can be. And VERY fresh vegetables. Which earns an A+ in my book. I'll be back next visit to Chicago! read more

Went to brunch here over the weekend and was astounded by the extensive menu. However, I was significantly less impressed by the food. We ordered: -crepes -sweet potato skillet The poppy seed dressing that came with the crepes was a very odd pairing. I didn't enjoy the sauce and left it off the crepe, which made it dry and hard to wash down, although the actual flavor wasn't necessarily bad, just plain. The sweet potato skillet was decent, but similar to the crepes, it was dry and needed something more, like an aioli and more seasoning.
