Everyone enjoyed their breakfast from here! I give bonus points for the gluten free menu and the option to sub sweet potatoes. They were busy when we arrived but it was not a bad wait at all. The restaurant was clean and had a farmhouse vibe to it. The food was excellent so I can see why all of the tables were full
The food is good but expect a wait! Could be because it was Lollapalooza weekend, but there were so many people waiting when we arrived. They told us the wait would be around 30 minutes and that's exactly how long it took. We have an excellent server named Jacob who was attentive and quick with our requests.
Breakfast was so good! I had the Geneva Rösti with fresh fruit & strawberry orange juice. Outstanding!
Visiting Chicago for the first time with our 1 year old son. After searching for a breakfast spot, we came across egg harbor cafe and thought it might be the perfect place to fuel us up for the morning. We had a short walk from our hotel. There was no wait when we got there so we were able to get immediately seated which was perfect. It was around 8:30am on a Friday morning. They had an area where we were able to park our stroller and had high chairs and a kids menu available. The food came out super fast and was delicious. Our son ate everything on his plate (eggs, toast, chicken sausage). I did a build your own with sides and got the sourdough toast, turkey bacon, eggs, and a side of avocado. It was fresh and tasted great. We also got a side pancake that we all shared and it was so yummy. My husband got one of the scrambles and he said it was really good. Perfect place to take kids, not crowded when we went but was starting to fill up around 9:30am. The restaurant was clean, open, and you got a good view of the city with the big windows! Great place to check out for a quick and easy breakfast.
Egg Harbor Cafe is a very large and loud restaurant with a lot of food options. I had a build your own scrambled which was delicious. I chose all the sauces (hollandaise, red salsa, sour cream) and they were all great and complimented the food nicely. You can tell the hollandaise and salsa are made in house. The jelly that came with the English muffin was also really good. And the potatoes were flavorful and not greasy. Our server was attentive and very personable. Definitely recommend this place for breakfast.
Wow what a great experience. Service from Jacob was amazing and the food was really nice (my husband had the biscuits and gravy, and I had the crêpes with avocado and mushroom). Coffees were delightful... Real maple syrup, homemade jam. Swift service and the ambience is darling! That's the price of all was they do not use seed oils so they're fabulous breakfast potatoes were made in beef tallow (what an amazing surprise! 5-stars
Went to Egg Harbor Café after it was recommended by somebody at the gym for a delicious breakfast. Boy, she didn't steer us wrong. The service was absolutely excellent. She gave us the tip to put our names in ahead of time as this is a very busy location. We had the most delicious strawberry mimosas. I had the Joe's scrambler. It was so yummy and so cheesy along with potatoes and an English muffin. This is a must to see!
Did a pickup order and took it back to the hotel since we were still packing up as we were leaving that same day. We will dine in on our next trip. But ordered the Strawberry Crunch French Toast. Yes, Im aware that takeout and sitting in isn't the same thing. But the hotel wasn't even a 5 minute walk away. So, it was still fresh, in my opinion. Long story short, ate all of the French toast in one sitting. Then fell asleep for a goid hour, hour half. So, I'd say it's delectable for my taste. The kids cheeseburger also worked for an appetite, but not too much on the heavy side. Perfect for a youngster or if you're not hungry. As mentioned, the ambiance seemed welcoming and will sit down the next time. Also, the service was exceptional as the order was ready by the time I arrived. Thank you Egg Harbor Cafe.I will be back!
Came back again and still enjoyed the food and overall experience. Service remains friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere is bright and welcoming. One thing I wanted to mention this time around; the chairs can be pretty loud when people move them across the concrete floors. It gets a bit irritating on the ears, especially during busy times. Adding cushions or pads underneath the chairs would probably make a big difference and help reduce the noise. Overall, still a solid spot that I'd return to, just hoping for a small fix to make the dining experience even better.
After running a race, the natural next step is brunch. My girlfriend has been raving about how much she liked Egg Harbor so naturally I had to give a try. On a cold day, the gourmet hot chocolate was a great starter for me and really set the tone for my meal. I ended up getting a skillet with all sorts of fixings that had me very full. The English muffin on the side was delicious and the jam was fantastic. Bonus points for their gluten-free menu. They have so many options and take great precautions to ensure that gluten-free customers can dine comfortably.
First time at Egg Harbor Cafe and our last stop before heading home. This is definitely one of our favorite places we ate. We will definitely be coming back. We enjoyed brunch with delicious dishes. We ordered a Matcha Latte, a Chai Tea Latte, a Latte and Coffee. All the drinks were served hot, not too sweet, just perfect in a cloudy snowy day. For our main dish we ordered a California Club, a Smoked Salmon Avocado Toast, a Traditional Breakfast and a Barrington Benedict. All dishes were served promptly. There were no left overs. My party was very happy with everything they ordered. Our waiter, Christian P., was very nice, polite and attentive. Great service. This is large space but has customers constantly coming in. I loved the decor. My favorite were the coffee cups they use. They also offer them for sale.
We came here after putting our name down at another place, and decided to walk the block to see if there were more options and stumbled upon Egg Harbor. All staff we encountered were kind, and shout out to our server as I had many questions that she helped me through. You can find just about anything on their menu which is a plus. I ordered the loaded potatoes with a side of their homemade cinnamon roll. Both were just ok! Both were equally dry, unfortunately. Even with adding the icing that came with the cinnamon roll, and the melted cheese on the potatoes. My fiance got a breakfast sandwich, which was also just ok. Loved how bright it was inside and how spacious it is! There appeared to be a patio area that seems like it would be hit with nice weather.
I was honestly extremely disappointed with my experience here. The biggest issue was the service. There was literally a hair in my fruit, and when I pointed it out, our server didn't apologize or acknowledge it at all. He just stood there until I specifically asked for a replacement. I found his behavior throughout the entire meal extremely rude and off putting. On top of that, it was incredibly stuffy inside the restaurant. As for the food, it was just alright. I honestly don't see myself coming back, especially because of the rude server.

Great service--kind, patient and accommodating. The ambiance is lovely--trellises to make the space feel warm. Lots of thought around how to make it welcoming for kids, too We came for the food--and we're not disappointed. My husband got the San Antonio skillet. It's got a kick yo it but was cooked perfectly. If you're unsure about the chorizo, it's a perfect peppery and crisp one. Go for it! I tried the farmers Benedict and was very impressed. The hollandaise has a very smooth and light texture, with a subtle hint of basil that perfects the stack. I might skip the artichoke next time, but overall it was Wonderful! Not nearly as heavy as Benedict can be. And VERY fresh vegetables. Which earns an A+ in my book. I'll be back next visit to Chicago! read more

Went to brunch here over the weekend and was astounded by the extensive menu. However, I was significantly less impressed by the food. We ordered: -crepes -sweet potato skillet The poppy seed dressing that came with the crepes was a very odd pairing. I didn't enjoy the sauce and left it off the crepe, which made it dry and hard to wash down, although the actual flavor wasn't necessarily bad, just plain. The sweet potato skillet was decent, but similar to the crepes, it was dry and needed something more, like an aioli and more seasoning. Overall, the food was bland and would benefit greatly from a few star sauce options and some added herbs to give more flavor. read more

Delicious. Fresh. Rustic. This cafe is so cute and the food was fast and fresh! Elizabeth with a wonderful waitress and had great advice when it came to the menu. What we ordered: -Pot of Coffee: husband said it was good coffee. -Toffee Latte (hot): Devine! The whipped cream was my favorite part, but it was so good all around! - Aztecs Omelet: my husband said the dish was good and the Chorizo made the flavor a hit! The potatoes and English muffin came as sides and made the dish very filling! - Lobster Scramble: OMG! Decadent and soooo worth it! It was so creamy and filling. My hubby was definitely jealous! I subbed my English muffin for a berry bowl and the portion did not disappoint! The takeaway, we will be back! Great food, great spot, and great service! Add this place to your list. read more

So impressed by this spot! They managed to maintain a super cozy and homey feel while also excelling far past most of the classic cozy diners! Quality of the food was great, customer service was great, and they even had an ENTIRE GLUTEN FREE MENU! We got the berry oatmeal that came served with milk (I subbed oat milk), brown sugar, jam, an english muffin, and TONS of fresh fruit. I loved that they let you add the sugar yourself so that everyone can get the perfect sweetness for your liking. The fruit was great and super fresh. Probably the perfect oatmeal IMO! Also ordered the gluten free griddle cakes combo. They were super nice and let us sun the eggs for potatoes and didn't change extra. The pancakes were SO FLUFFY, would've been great for normal pancakes but for gluten free, they were incredible!!! Not many good gf pancakes so these were a real treat. read more

Top 5 favorite breakfast places ever! I absolutely love Egg Harbor. From the coziest mugs to the delicious entrees, it's the perfect brunch stop! What we ordered: - Joes Healthy Scrambler - if you're looking for a lower cal breakfast that's still super tasty, this one's for you! The scrambler is mixed with egg whites, mushrooms, spinach, and tomato, and served with a wheat English muffin and fruit - BYO skillet - Over easy eggs, Ham, goat cheese, and green pepper. If you're a goat cheese fan, order it! They definitely do not skimp on the cheese. - Avo-Rizo Burrito - super filling and delicious! A large flour tortilla stuffed with pork chorizo, pepper Jack cheese, eggs, avocado, and cilantro. Served with salsa and sour cream. All three entrees were phenomenal, we will definitely be back! Only downfall was the parking, so plan ahead or find a SpotHero! read more

The place was not as great as the other reviews make it out to seem. It was not bad but any means but definitely not stellar in anyway. The service wasn't the best either. Not as friendly as I would hope but our server was helpful enough to give recommendations when I asked. I ordered the Cinnamon French toast and upgraded my plate to also get eggs and sausage. Definitely not worth the price as the portion was so small. I wouldn't come back here, but we were looking for something close to our hotel and quick-- it did the job. read more

The food was great. I recommend the lobster scrambler. Good ambience and we were seated very fast! The menu prices on yelp are out of date. Look at the pictures people upload instead for an up to date menu. The place is clean. This place was a super cute brunch place!! Classy, chic, but cozy. The food was phenomenal, fresh, hot, high quality. I especially recommend the omelets and side potatoes with green onions, service was very fast and our waiters checked on us several times for drink refills. Most prices were between $14-17. $4 Coffee was nothing extraordinary but still tasty, and it was nice that they left the pitcher on the table so you could refill it at your leisure. All the staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful, even with the tons of hangry people they undoubtedly interact with on the daily, so props to all of them! Only reason it's 4 stars is because we had a few issues with getting a table, though we came on Memorial Day so that probably had something to do with it. We had some trouble with the check in. We did the online "jump on the waiting list" and arrived within our ten minute time window, but when we got there we were told it would be another 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, we got a text saying we had been taken off the waitlist, and I had to go in person again to get a table, so all around about 30-40 minutes wait. The girl working the check in was super friendly and kind, the issue just seemed like a website fluke or something. All in all, great experience and highly recommend! read more

I was so excited to try this place after walking by and seeing their menu. The guy who answered my call and took my order was sooo nice and patient ! He basically told me we will make you whatever you're in the mood for as I couldn't decide on my omelette toppings. I ordered a create your own omelette with two sides of potatoes to go because Covid. I was able to sit outside in the sun and go in to pick up my order after only about 7 mins! Everything came out perfect !! It was $17 but totally worth it! The omelette was huge and came packed with all the veggies I had asked for. The two sides of potatoes were over flowing in the Togo container and made me really happy. After eating my breakfast outside the restaurant in the sun I decided I wanted a coffee. Didn't want to find a Starbucks so I went back inside and asked what kind of coffee they had here. Big shoulders which I had never had before. They were so kind and let me try the original roast. WOWW this coffee is so smooth with a yummy cinnamon note! Perfect with just a tiny bit of cream and sugar. I can't wait to dine IN here when Covid is over, beautiful bright airy breakfast spot! read more
My husband and I tried Egg Harbor for the first time before a 10am movie at the AMC down the street and we enjoyed it so much, I think this may be a new weekend movie tradition! We got there around 8:30am on a Sunday, so we didn't have to wait for a table, but by about 9/9:30 am we definitely noticed folks waiting around for tables (and more people were coming by the minute). We each got some hot coffee and an entree - I got 'Greg's chili and eggs' and my husband got a tradition breakfast + a maple bourbon bacon upgrade. We were both EXTREMELY HAPPY with our meals! My egg white omelette was jam packed with the chicken chili which was so heckin' tasty. Very well seasoned without being spicy. Their housemade jam is also killer on an English muffin. Another really pleasant surprise was their coffee rocked. I'm used to the ever flowing bitter coffee typically served at diner type restaurants, and the coffee at Egg Harbor blew away those expectations. It was almost fruity and served in a SUPER CUTE mug. I will need to purchase one of those the next time I go back. Overall, a really fantastic brunch spot with friendly staff, tasty food and coffee, and it's pretty decently priced. Just be sure to get there early if you don't want a long wait on the weekends! read more

Stopped by on a weekday morning for breakfast. It was quiet and we were immediately seated. We were seated by a window and I had a nice view of the city. Water was brought quickly and I started with a cappuccino. Cappuccino was good. For my entree, San Antonio Skillet. Potatoes, chorizo, bacon, onion, fresh jalapeño, tomato, & pepper jack cheese. Topped with eggs (over easy) and served with buttered English muffin. Very good, but very filling. You'll feel like you'll need a nap. My associate did not have the same experience. He said the biscuits and gravy were no good and he could taste the powder. Warm, hearty breakfast to start my morning on a chilly morning. read more

Fantastic breakfast location downtown. Cute decor but more importantly out of this world food and super friendly service. No wait on a Friday morning ~9:30. Seated right away. Attentive servers but not overbearing. Avocado toast comes with eggs of your choice and a fruit cup. Fruit was fresh with lots of variety. Scramblers were both beautiful and tasty. The pancakes were huge, tasty and had a dusting of powdered sugar. We plan to be back before heading home! read more
This is a beautiful new breakfast/lunch location to bring your family and friends, or just come by yourself. The wait right now is significantly shorter than any other breakfast diner in the area but don't expect this to last long. You can grab a drink at the front desk to go as well- and they have a great selection of specialty coffees. The interior space here is one of my favorites of any breakfast spot in Chicago- it's full of natural lighting and is very spacious. You can do plenty of people watching while you wait. You can definitely bring a large party here and be seated comfortably. They have a very extensive menu so you can pretty much find whatever it is you want. I love their harbor potatoes and buttered English muffins with jam- which comes with most of their egg dishes. read more
Pretty good! I was hesitant to come because we've already been to the one outside of Atlanta but I'm happy we came. We ordered cassies crepes and sweet potato skillet. The crepes were so good, filled with eggs, avocado and mushroom yes please! Plus it came with an English muffin and potatoes. The sweet potato skillet had chunks of apple, Brussel sprouts, bacon and egg and came with an English muffin as well. So so good! And the service was great. We highly recommend coming here. read more

The service is wonderful, and the servers do a great job. The food was pretty great, except the potatoes. They'd clearly been sitting around for way too long and had become mealy, cold, and dry. They were well past the point of serving, so we just skipped them. The smoke salmon and sausage Benedict were great, as was the massive skillet. It IS loud as hell in here, so be aware. read more

------------------LOCATION: 4/5---------------- There is little to no parking here so you may need to find parking around the area. This is a good place to go if you're shopping around the Magnificent Mile. --------------------FOOD: 4/5------------------- I've been here a couple of times already and everything I got was beyond satisfactory! I previously had the San Antonio Skillet and it was tasty with my over hard eggs. Hash browns were a bit on the softer side and I prefer mine on a crispier side. -------------------SERVICE: 5/5------------------ Service was great -- they were attentive. -----------------ATMOSPHERE: 5/5--------------- Music wasn't disruptive and there's plenty of light, which makes this place perfect for brunch. --------------------PRICE: 4/5-------------------- The price is decent for what you get here. The portions are also pretty big. =============OVERALL: 4.4/5.0=========== I'd definitely come back here again and take my friends and family for brunch here. read more

So much potential... As I've said before: I will always salute an unexpected food combination that has been deliciously executed. That said, do yourself a favor and get the Lobster Scrambler. It's a saucy, flavorful dream. and the plate portion is definitely enough to take home leftovers. While the food was definitely 5-star worthy, the service and experience left much to be desired. I made a reservation ahead of time on a Sunday and ended up waiting two hours AFTER my reservation time before I was seated. This, after going in for updates and being told 15-30 more minutes several times. I ended up having to leave after being seated because I was told it was going to likely take another hour before my food came. I chalked it up to the place being super busy on a Sunday. Per the hostess' recommendation, I came back early the next day. I was immediately seated. But somehow, despite the place being almost empty, service took for-ever and nobody seemed to care. I don't understand what the issue is here, but they've really got to work improving the service here. read more

Spent the weekend showing a friend around downtown Streeterville and were searching desperately for brunch on a busy Saturday morning. We walked by Egg Harbor Cafe after doing the Riverwalk and was met with a very nice staff and only a 20 minute wait. The atmosphere was open and spacious. I went with their Avocado Toast special that day as I wanted something relatively light, and had my eggs over medium. Also as a very big sweet tooth I ordered a Blueberry White Mocha that set me back about 5lbs and was absolutely worth every penny. My particular breakfast wasn't anything special, my friends however ordered their more well known skillets and were thoroughly pleased with how they turned out. You can't come to Egg Harbor Cafe and not get something with eggs. Definitely plan on coming again and trying their skillets or omelets. read more
