Amazing Gluten-free menu. Nearly everything on the regular menu can be modified to make the meal GF, and they make sure to avoid cross-contamination in the kitchen. We were in town for four days and had breakfast here every one of them. The "Shauna's sun-up" yogurt was filled with fruit and granola and was a healthy way to start the day. The banana bread accompaniment was a tasty treat. The Swedish pancakes were delicious thin crepe-like rolled pancakes with lingonberry butter and lingonberries, which made it really unique. Service was good and both dishes were delicious. If luck is on your side, Cecilia will be your server. She somehow manages to be a kite in a hurricane. Whirling through the dining room at breakneck speed. She's super and you'll love her. While I didn't eat off the Egg Harbor the two times we were there my dining companions did and believe it when I say they didn't have any issues. Let me repeat that, neither dining companion had an issue with their meals. One of my dining companions is very particular. Cecilia had him in check and made him extremely happy. No small feat mind you. One would say that she took on an impossible mission and left Ethan Hunt in her dust. I do have to say my Oat Milk Latte with an extra shot was really good. If you're a vegan skip the plant-based sausage as it is most likely cooked on a shared cooking surface. I learned the hard way. read more

Yesterday was my birthday (turned 54) and my boyfriend took me there. One of our favorite breakfast restaurants in the city. Our server was friendly and over the top which was fine We both ordered iced Americano (they were out of Nitro cold brew) and strawberry orange juice which was good. We ordered a pickup order for $100. We tipped graciously and my friend said to check the order before we left. The guy said its all there. It wasn't. They failed to include the biggest meal in order. One order of eggs dry and looked gross as if they were reheated (not that they were but totally had that look), the avocado on their avocado omelet was so old and dark it needed to be picked out. Avocados don't do well once cut open, but I had a Buona Beef hamburger recently and it had avocado and it was much fresher looking. Potatoes were okay. Fruit was okay. The omelet with egg whites was good, but I'd skip that avocado omelet. Bacon pieces were laced on the bottom making it inedible. Tossed it. Not a fan of this Egg Harbor. The order had a big error we caught before we left. Something else was missing, but we realized after we left. Sucks to have a meh experience. Disappointing. I really enjoy breakfast food and was really excited to try a local Chicago breakfast joint! I got the Lobster Scrambler and banana blackberry mini pancakes. The toast and jam was soft yummy bread with delicious jam, and the eggs were absolutely incredible (it was scrambled eggs with lobster pieces and a creamy base). And the pancakes were to die for! The staff were friendly, definitely not faking it and the restaurant was clean and nicely laid out. I probably ordered the wrong item on the menu? My "Ultimate Skillet" was 75% potatoes, just filler, not much else. No meat, barely any other vegetables. Eggs and cheese on top to cover the potatoes. Lots and lots of roasted potato chunks. Dry. On the side, they thought the best pairing with potatoes is an English muffin. More dry carbs. The only thing to make it less dry was the bottled jam that was like syrup. I started dipping the potatoes in the jam. Great spot off of Michigan! Stayed at the Intercontinental and got on the waitlist through their website. Ten minute walk, sat down for 5 minutes and our table was ready. Great choice of scrambler, skillet or omelette. I selected build your own skillet. I had turkey sausage, jalapeño and cheese. I also chose sweet potato's versus regular for the extra vitamin A. They also have fresh squeezed orange juice. We ordered a cinnamon roll to share which was perfect for sharing and very good. My wife got two eggs and fruit. The menu is quite extensive. I had a hard time choosing, but ultimately went with the Farmer's Market Benedict. I was definitely disappointed with the flavor of the hollandaise and thought the dish could use more flavor overall, but the potatoes were amazing. After an early morning flight and an early check-in at the Sheraton we stumbled over here for some essential fuel. Wife enjoyed her Tuna melt and I enjoyed the cinnamon roll pancakes- these were like taking a cooked cinnamon roll, cutting it into slices and then tossing it back on the flat top for a few minutes to crust em up; delicious. Washed it down with a Bloody Mary- good mix disappointed it wasn't served with an olive though- pickle and lemon were their choices. Solid spot if you're in the area. read more

I'll start by saying our waitress was a great part of the experience here. She was very bubbly and personable. The location is in downtown Chicago and has small diner vibes. We got the shrimp and grits and the lobster scramble to eat and a coffee and strawberry orange juice to drink. Both orders came out fast. The lobster scramble had a good flavor and had a decent portion of lobster. However, there was some artificial crab in there, so I can tell why the price was so reasonable. It was kinda hard to tell what was real lobster or not. The shrimp and grits was pretty bland. There was a lack of flavor other than the cheese that was on the top. I think they would do well to add some Cajun spice to the dish and rename it, perhaps. Coffee was good, and I like that I get to pour my own cups from a pitcher left at the table. The strawberry orange juice was pretty okay as well and tasted fresh. Overall, it was an overall good experience, but I expected more from the dishes, which is why I only gave four stars. Service was great, and the extra sausage gravy was probably some of the best I've had since coming to Illinois. I'll come again another time to try out some other stuff, though. I ordered the Maple Bourbon Bacon, Lobster Scrambler, San Antonio Skillet, Blue Lagoon Latte, and black coffee. The Maple Bourbon Bacon was crispy, thick, chewy, and sweet. It was the perfect combination of Maple syrup on the bacon. Lobster Scrambler is a lobster omelet over hollandaise sauce with a side of potatoes and an English muffin. Lobster Scrambler would have been better if the dish was not drenched with hollandaise sauce. I had to scrape the hollandaise sauce to the side so I can taste the omelet. San Antonio Skillet was actually my favorite dish. The pork chorizo was cooked to perfection. The jalapeño gave your mouth a good kick. The potatoes on this dish were more crisper than the ones on the lobster scrambler. Blue Lagoon Latte was made of blue butterfly flower tea with coconut milk. Blue Lagoon Latte tastes like coconut ice cream but in a drink form. It was mainly for photo ops. I really wanted the Toffee Latte, I asked our waitress if we could make the toffee latte dairy-free, or substitute the milk with almond or coconut, but she was unsure if it was possible, so I settled for Blue Lagoon Latte... The potatoes weren't seasoned, but well cooked. - shrimp and grits (2/5): I was disappointed. The grits were rather dry and the dish overall did not have any flavor or seasoning. It was served with biscuits and honey jam, which made up for the dish. I would not recommend. Egg Harbor has great service, but I have mixed feelings about the food. Simple, and oh-so-good. It was a shame that we only discovered this place at the end of our trip; otherwise, I would have come back here this omelette every day. With my keto restriction, I subbed the potatoes with a side salad. Side Salad - poppy seed dressing was delicious. The salad was surprisingly (since everything else was so good) NOT fresh. They were definitely not chopped up that morning as the ends were browning. I'm still giving the place 5 stars cuz the omelette was so good.
