We called ahead same day to reserve a table. We were seated and attended to very quick. Our server was super nice and attentive, and the food was great. Their menu has something for everyone and I like that they have a build your own. Our table got mimosas which were really tasty and I ordered an omelet which I didn't expect to be as big as it was, I couldn't finish all the food. Every thing we tried was really good and tasty, would recommend this place and would be back whenever we are in the area. read more

We arrived around 9am to wait for about 25 minutes. Quick moving line! Food came out quickly and was delicious! The fresh jalapeño in the skillet was perfect balance for the dish (I also despise pickled jalapeños!)... and the iced brown sugar latter.... omg! Way better any others you may have had, especially a big chain! read more

I am an Egg Harbor fan and have been to this location a few times. I was excited to return in December with my wife and was disappointed. Maybe my build up was too strong...it was 8 am and pastry seemed to be from yesterday and our food was not hot. But I am not taking it off my list, everyone can have a bad day. My go to is the Traditional Breakfast an upgrade to the bourbon bacon. When eating out for breakfast I typically swap fruit for potatoes but the Harbor potatoes are worth it. Their iced coffee drinks are yummy too. read more

This was a nice and tidy place, solidly good service. I got the strawberry crunch French toast, and it was pretty good. Thick slices of challah, house-made strawberry cream cheese, fresh berries, and some of their granola sprinkled over the top. It was a creative twist on a classic. However, I also got an iced chai latte that was flat and devoid of almost any flavor, so that was disappointing. Otherwise I'd probably give this a four-star rating. Based off the drink only, it'd be a single star, but giving three because everything else was still good. read more

DELICIOUS. Egg Harbor Cafe would be my go to brunch spot if I lived in Chicago. Everything I ate was so good. My husband and I showed up at 1pm and we didn't have to wait too long to be sat. The place is cute and gives a home feel. The menu is quite large so make sure you peruse it all. Our waitress was attentive and checked in on us pretty often. I got a matcha latte, which in my opinion wasn't very good. I personally like a matcha that isn't too sweet and this one was sweet and watery if that makes sense. My husband got a brown sugar latte which was also sweet but not overly sweet and it was also STRONG - definitely woke me up. My husband got the Habanero Hash and Eggs which was FULL of flavor. My husband eats spicy and this definitely met his standards. The texture of the hash browns was perfectly cooked and he got his eggs just like he liked. I personally do not chorizo so I did not get to try it but he loved it. I got the Dynamite Veggie White Omelet which was also super full of flavor! The English muffin was toasted nicely and paired well with my omelet. It was cheesy and warm, a true comfort breakfast. The fruit was fresh and I liked that they gave me more than just melon and cantaloupe. We also got the lemon poppyseed pancakes, which were the star of the meal. These pancakes were the fluffiest and softest pancakes I've ever had. The lemon flavor was not overpowering; there was a glaze on top that added the perfect amount of sweetness. Truly so so DELICIOUS. I salivate at the thought of them because of how good they were. I would come back to Egg Harbor Cafe for these pancakes alone. read more

Cute little breakfast place with a great variety of options. The coffee came in cute mugs and tasted strong. The "Shauna's sun-up" yogurt was filled with fruit and granola and was a healthy way to start the day. The banana bread accompaniment was a tasty treat. The Swedish pancakes were delicious thin crepe-like rolled pancakes with lingonberry butter and lingonberries, which made it really unique. Service was good and both dishes were delicious. They had a lot of other good-looking options on the menu. I recommend coming early to avoid a busy time, and then have a great breakfast. read more

While visiting Chicago we decided to get something to eat. We were hungry so we stopped here. The restaurant was closing soon but they still let us in. The people were so kind. The restaurant was clean. The food was just okay though. I felt like they gave us stuff that they just wanted to get rid of before they close the kitchen. My meat in my skillet was hard, as if they burned it and the potatoes were hard too. They ended up giving us new potatoes; they tasted fine. I don't think I would eat here again if I visited Chicago. read more

Was seated quickly on a Thurs morning for two. The waiter had a number of tables to wait on but was attentive and quick. We were seated at a booth and right away noticed that the seats were not cleaned. Lots of crumbs and the floor wasn't swept before new customers were seated. The food tasted ok and the latte was good. However, the skillet was drowning in oil. I ended up picking out the pieces that weren't drenched in oil to finish. read more

Egg Harbor has a bunch of locations around Chicago. This location on Illinois Avenue is a busy location but a great spot close enough to everything. If luck is on your side, Cecilia will be your server. She somehow manages to be a kite in a hurricane. Whirling through the dining room at breakneck speed. She's super and you'll love her. While I didn't eat off the Egg Harbor the two times we were there my dining companions did and believe it when I say they didn't have any issues. Let me repeat that, neither dining companion had an issue with their meals. One of my dining companions is very particular. Cecilia had him in check and made him extremely happy. No small feat mind you. One would say that she took on an impossible mission and left Ethan Hunt in her dust. I do have to say my Oat Milk Latte with an extra shot was really good. If you're a vegan skip the plant-based sausage as it is most likely cooked on a shared cooking surface. I learned the hard way. read more

Yesterday was my birthday (turned 54) and my boyfriend took me there. One of our favorite breakfast restaurants in the city. Our server was friendly and over the top which was fine We both ordered iced Americano (they were out of Nitro cold brew) and strawberry orange juice which was good. I had the Belgium Waffle and Bacon. The waffle was fluffy and good. And smells amazing. My boyfriend had an Eggs Benedict which looks amazing. The place was busy which is good for them. We ordered a pickup order for $100. We tipped graciously and my friend said to check the order before we left. The guy said its all there. It wasn't. They failed to include the biggest meal in order. One order of eggs dry and looked gross as if they were reheated (not that they were but totally had that look), the avocado on their avocado omelet was so old and dark it needed to be picked out. Avocados don't do well once cut open, but I had a Buona Beef hamburger recently and it had avocado and it was much fresher looking. Potatoes were okay. Fruit was okay. The omelet with egg whites was good, but I'd skip that avocado omelet. Bacon pieces were laced on the bottom making it inedible. Tossed it. Not a fan of this Egg Harbor. The order had a big error we caught before we left. Something else was missing, but we realized after we left. Sucks to have a meh experience. Disappointing. Potatoes good, egg white omelet decent, fruit fresh-ish. Only reason for 3 stars read more

Amazing Gluten-free menu. Nearly everything on the regular menu can be modified to make the meal GF, and they make sure to avoid cross-contamination in the kitchen. We were in town for four days and had breakfast here every one of them. The staff is friendly and authentic, and they obviously take allergen safety very seriously and we felt perfectly food-safe and taken care of the entire time. read more

I really enjoy breakfast food and was really excited to try a local Chicago breakfast joint! I got the Lobster Scrambler and banana blackberry mini pancakes. The toast and jam was soft yummy bread with delicious jam, and the eggs were absolutely incredible (it was scrambled eggs with lobster pieces and a creamy base). And the pancakes were to die for! The staff were friendly, definitely not faking it and the restaurant was clean and nicely laid out. If you're looking for a solid breakfast spot in downtown Chicago then I 100% recommend this spot!! read more

Cute place with good food and good vibes. Walked here from our hotel on our last day in Chicago and was surprised with how large this restaurant is. Super tall ceilings and a ton of tables. The menu is quite extensive. I had a hard time choosing, but ultimately went with the Farmer's Market Benedict. I was definitely disappointed with the flavor of the hollandaise and thought the dish could use more flavor overall, but the potatoes were amazing. I especially loved that they were topped with scallions. Joe's Healthy Scrambler was excellent and the portions were great. The playlist on the speakers was awesome. Staff was friendly and plentiful. Prices were decent. Overall, had a nice experience and would probably return if I find myself in the area again. read more

I'll start by saying our waitress was a great part of the experience here. She was very bubbly and personable. The location is in downtown Chicago and has small diner vibes. We got the shrimp and grits and the lobster scramble to eat and a coffee and strawberry orange juice to drink. Both orders came out fast. The lobster scramble had a good flavor and had a decent portion of lobster. However, there was some artificial crab in there, so I can tell why the price was so reasonable. It was kinda hard to tell what was real lobster or not. The shrimp and grits was pretty bland. There was a lack of flavor other than the cheese that was on the top. I think they would do well to add some Cajun spice to the dish and rename it, perhaps. Coffee was good, and I like that I get to pour my own cups from a pitcher left at the table. The strawberry orange juice was pretty okay as well and tasted fresh. Overall, it was an overall good experience, but I expected more from the dishes, which is why I only gave four stars. Service was great, and the extra sausage gravy was probably some of the best I've had since coming to Illinois. I'll come again another time to try out some other stuff, though. Probly get the biscuits and gravy together. Maybe update this review as well. read more

I probably ordered the wrong item on the menu? My "Ultimate Skillet" was 75% potatoes, just filler, not much else. No meat, barely any other vegetables. Eggs and cheese on top to cover the potatoes. Lots and lots of roasted potato chunks. Dry. On the side, they thought the best pairing with potatoes is an English muffin. More dry carbs. The only thing to make it less dry was the bottled jam that was like syrup. I started dipping the potatoes in the jam. Needless to say, I was hungry and I was suffering to finish this meal. read more

I ordered the Maple Bourbon Bacon, Lobster Scrambler, San Antonio Skillet, Blue Lagoon Latte, and black coffee. The Maple Bourbon Bacon was crispy, thick, chewy, and sweet. It was the perfect combination of Maple syrup on the bacon. Lobster Scrambler is a lobster omelet over hollandaise sauce with a side of potatoes and an English muffin. Lobster Scrambler would have been better if the dish was not drenched with hollandaise sauce. I had to scrape the hollandaise sauce to the side so I can taste the omelet. San Antonio Skillet was actually my favorite dish. The pork chorizo was cooked to perfection. The jalapeño gave your mouth a good kick. The potatoes on this dish were more crisper than the ones on the lobster scrambler. Blue Lagoon Latte was made of blue butterfly flower tea with coconut milk. Blue Lagoon Latte tastes like coconut ice cream but in a drink form. It was mainly for photo ops. I really wanted the Toffee Latte, I asked our waitress if we could make the toffee latte dairy-free, or substitute the milk with almond or coconut, but she was unsure if it was possible, so I settled for Blue Lagoon Latte... Great spot off of Michigan! Stayed at the Intercontinental and got on the waitlist through their website. Ten minute walk, sat down for 5 minutes and our table was ready. Great choice of scrambler, skillet or omelette. I selected build your own skillet. I had turkey sausage, jalapeño and cheese. I also chose sweet potato's versus regular for the extra vitamin A. They also have fresh squeezed orange juice. We ordered a cinnamon roll to share which was perfect for sharing and very good. My wife got two eggs and fruit. After an early morning flight and an early check-in at the Sheraton we stumbled over here for some essential fuel. Wife enjoyed her Tuna melt and I enjoyed the cinnamon roll pancakes- these were like taking a cooked cinnamon roll, cutting it into slices and then tossing it back on the flat top for a few minutes to crust em up; delicious. Came here about a month ago for brunch on a Saturday morning with a group of five. Being that it's in downtown Chicago there was a 40 min wait (So I recommend rsvp'ing ahead of time). Once we were seated in a booth, we were able to enjoy ourselves. It was comfortable, busy, but cozy and inviting for the start of a weekend. Our waitress was really kind. I got a make my own skillet from the GF menu and a oatmilk matcha latte. The skillet was delicious and the matcha latte was really frothy (Lacked matcha tbh) but the warm oatmilk made it a nice enough beverage kind of like warm milk lol. I've seen so many Egg Harbor restaurants throughout Illinois and decided it was finally time to try it! My friend and I were able to walk in without a wait. This location is a cute, casual farm-style decorated restaurant. Our server was friendly and attentive, and service was fast. The food is decently priced and there are a lot of different options available. We ordered: - lobster scramble (4/5): lobster w/ seafood mix scramble topped with hollandaise sauce. It's so soft yet filled with a balanced amount of lobster/krab meat and veggies. It's served with buttered and toasted English muffins and a berry jam that tasted amazing. The potatoes weren't seasoned, but well cooked. - shrimp and grits (2/5): I was disappointed. The grits were rather dry and the dish overall did not have any flavor or seasoning. It was served with biscuits and honey jam, which made up for the dish. I would not recommend. Egg Harbor has great service, but I have mixed feelings about the food. We chatted a bunch about the old country and had a pleasant conversation about being from the same province in the island. Great reminiscing, great food, great service. Yum.

1 star The food at Egg Harbor Cafe on 220 E Illinois is good, but the service left much to be desired. Our server arrived in a rush, with no eye contact, shaking his head, and clearly upset even before reaching our table. Our order had three mistakes, and despite pretending to understand, the server got it wrong. To top it off, we were charged for an item that never arrived--a pancake--and even after explaining this, we were still charged. The poor service made the entire experience embarrassing for me and my family. It's disappointing because the food was good, clean, and served quickly, but it's hard to enjoy a meal when the service is so bad. The server either had an attitude or just wasn't in the mood. As for the food, we ordered a custom omelet with mushrooms, green peppers, and cheddar cheese, which I'd rate 7 out of 10. It was fresh and prepared quickly, though I felt the eggs were slightly overcooked--it's challenging to get the right temperature for an omelet. We also ordered a hot chocolate without whipped cream, but it arrived with whipped cream. However, the employee (not the server) who brought it suggested fixing the error immediately, which was appreciated. Unfortunately, when the actual server returned, they were clearly in a disturbed mood, further dampening our experience. Lastly, we ordered a great poppy seed lemon pancakes; the quality and taste were on point. In summary, the food here is good, but the service needs significant improvement. read more

Started off okay--waited to pick up a rental car at the neighboring address-- so I dropped in to get coffee. Waited outside for a second but my rideshare said they were ten min late. I went back in, walked past the same server I bought coffee from, and sat down with my coffee I bought five seconds prior. Manager or whoever the jj reddick looking guy is gave me the dreaded, suspicious and side-eyed "can I help you with something sir?" there are mad people in here btw And I'm just sitting here. If I broke an egg rule just tell me nicely. I don't think I look that sketchy but egg harbour seems to think I need to explain why im here, even after making a purchase. I had such a wonderful experience at Egg Harbor Cafe! From the moment we walked in, everything felt warm and welcoming. Our server, Rachel, was absolutely lovely--so kind, attentive, and genuinely made us feel taken care of throughout our meal. The food was delicious across the board. Everyone in our group was beyond happy with what they ordered, and it was clear that everything was made with care and quality ingredients. We had a fantastic breakfast at Egg Harbor Cafe! My wife ordered the Caprese Avocado Toast, and I had the Eggsceptional Skillet Combo with bacon, mozzarella cheese, and tomatoes. I loved that I could choose my own ingredients, and the dish came with a side of fresh fruit and Banana Bread French Toast, which was a delicious bonus. The food was fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared, and the service was top-notch. Even though we came in with a stroller, the staff was incredibly accommodating and made sure we were comfortable. I recently had the pleasure of dining at Egg Harbor Cafe in Chicago and it was an overall good experience! Great place. Located a block or so east of Michigan Ave and a block north of the river/Apple Store. Plenty of eating space inside and out. Waiting lists are inevitable at good places in Chicago, but at least this one moves quickly. Good coffee drinks, great menu, delicious food and excellent service. read more
