Last week, a couple friends and I stopped in after one of them, who is from the area, spoke highly of it. We made reservations for Friday night at 8:30pm. Upon arrival, we were told we would have to wait 10 minutes because they were a little behind schedule. Fair enough, yet 20 minutes later, we are finally ushered to our table. We begin to settle in, and our waiter appears. We tell him we need another minute, which is followed by another 10-15 minute wait for him to return. 9pm and we have no drinks. We finally do order, except when it arrives, the food runner hands me the wrong dish. The waiter doesn't appear for another few minutes, only to quickly confirm they are correcting the mistake, no apology though. My pasta dish arrives after I insist that the table begin eating without me. I ask to have my food packed, and the busboy brings out two tins. I ask if he could pack it himself, seeing as almost every part of this experience was already relatively stressful, and it as if he has never heard these words before this moment. He asked me "What do you mean?". I just take the tins, pack my food and we pay the entire bill. Not one thing went right. We specifically chose this restaurant for our first night visiting, and to have been treated as if we weren't welcome, or appreciated for our patronage is infuriating. No gesture was made. I'm not walking in expecting anything but a table when I make a reservation, a reasonable wait time and my correct order, but they could have offered a round, a dessert, an apology, ANYTHING for the borderline negligent service we experienced. Not returning and very disappointed. The food was very good and I would have loved to enjoy it. The valet attendants were great though, 10/10. read more

The short: super impressed with this spot! Food, service, vibes & views are all amazing. The longer: we came with a large party for a bachelorette dinner. We had a table outside for 18, and the restaurant let us split the bill by two separate tables. The service was super nice & pretty fast. The complimentary bread was warm. My bottle of montepulciano was fabulous and seriously affordable. We shared the duck pizza and it was RIDICULOUSLY good. Like, really good. And, my halibut fish special was one of the better pieces of fish I've had in a long time. It had a homemade pesto sauce and some veggies. The restaurant has wraparound outdoor porch seating with beautiful views of the ocean. There's nice outdoor lighting and decor. I would definitely come back and would love to spend some time here with a more intimate group. Was great. Not anymore sad to say. Wait staff is wonderful as always. The food is unfortunately not what it was. Pricey. The veggies that come with entrees are awful. I ordered Branzino one of the priciest main courses. The veggie it came with was something cold and hard to describe. My husband ordered the salmon and asked when ordering to replace the cold corn side he read on the menu with spinach. His side was fresh and delicious and he shared some with me. The water glasses on the table looked old and nasty and neither oF us chose to pour water in them. Not sure what's going on here. As regulars we're disappointed. read more

Our dinner at the Edgewater Restaurant in Hampton's Bay on Long Island was a 5-Star experience from beginning to end. Although we were only having dinner for two we were able to put our names on the waiting list using the YELP app. Our table was ready when we arrived, and checked in with the hostess. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. Our steaks were cooked just as ordered, and the pistachio ice cream desert was the perfect finish to a wonderful meal. Started off with lamb chops that were good but lacked something from when we had them a few weeks ago. Had the Caesar salad and crab cakes that were delicious. I had an early dinner here with a pretty big group, we were 8 total and had a lovely outdoor table. The view of the water was beautiful and we were situated right next to it, loved the view. The ambience was amazing and the vibe was very fun. The service was great. Being in such a large group small things like filling water are sometimes overlooked, not here. The waiters and waitresses were very attentive and helpful. The food was amazing. We got lots of appetizers and then for our dinner everyone loved it. We took home leftovers and they did not make it through the evening! The menu has so many good options you cannot go wrong. My favorite appetizer was the crab avocado salad. Made reservations for 7:00pm on a Saturday night. Seated in good time. However when it came to service we were not pleased at all, which was shocking to us because we read many great reviews. Waited 20 mins for anyone to bring us water, which was warm and not refreshing at all. Waited another 25 minutes until we asked a bus boy if we had a waiter or waitress. Waiter came about ten minutes later and took our order. Food runners brought our food with good timing, our waiter was no where to be found. We had to ask the same bus boy if he could please wrap our food for us and he did. He was very polite and well mannered and was working very hard while our waiter was being caressed by the blonde waitress at the kiosk.. My wife had the shrimp oreganata over risotto. The shrimp were under cooked. The risotto was thick and pasty. Otherwise it was fine. Since her entree was underwhelming, she ordered a basket of plain bread, for which we were charged. They cleared the table and eventually brought us a basket of garlic bread. No plates. I'm in a bridal party for my friend from college and we threw her a bachelorette party in the Hamptons since she loves the beach. We stayed at an air bnb nearby, about two miles away. The house owner gave us a list of restaurants. Edgewater was recommended as one of her favorites. We were able to get a high top booth near the bar for our slightly larger party and it was perfect. Our waitress, Nicole was amazing. She was super friendly and personable. She checked if my gluten free pasta could be made alla vodka when I asked. It was also the best gluten free pasta dish I've had in my life and it was the perfect amount of food. Unfortunately, I don't have the opportunity to come to the Hamptons often. The headline: it's okay, nothing to jump and shout about. The highlights of our visit were the Koi pond off the deck and the Black Girl Magic bridal party that was there on the same night and paraded out after their meal like they were super stars. Go on, grrrrrls! In all fairness, our experience may have been influenced by our circumstances and mood. My 20-something daughter and I had just spent several days vacationing all around Long Island, from Riverhead to Greenport through Shelter Island to Sag Harbor and Montauk, and were on our way back home to Manhattan. We had planned to make a stop at Cooper's Beach and end with a nice dinner at Edgewater. We got a bit turned around and didn't reach the beach until nighttime, and hadn't made a reservation for dinner so we had to wait about 40 minutes for a table. While we waited, we decided to try to extend our stay so that we could head to the beach in the morning, but there was nothing available that was tolerable and less than $500 a night. By the time we were seated, we were hungry, tired, disappointed and deflated. With that caveat, I have to say that the meal was underwhelming. I ordered the steak special for the night - a NY Strip with shrimp - and my daughter ordered the filet mignon from the regular dinner menu. It was fine, but I suppose I must have expected more. Also, I was unable to finish my meal, and told our server that I'd like to take home the last couple of bites. When he brought the boxed leftovers back to the table I realized he'd taken that literally: he packed the two bites of steak and had tossed the leftover potatoes. Oh, well. Went back with my wife's 2 late 80's aunts. Went early (naturally!) As usual, the service (except the bus girl) was very nice as was the food. Wife and aunts had the codfish special, which they thoroughly enjoyed. I had the braised short ribs which were also very good. All in all, Edgewater does not disappoint. read more

Only had time for dinner here once but I will definitely go back! We loved the service and the ambience. Even though we were inside there was a pretty view of the bay. We ordered the pear and Gorgonzola salad, chopped clams linguini, broiled oysters and Prosecco to drink. All of it was delicious and well portioned. A Restaurant with a view! After a wonderful Fire Performance in the Hamptons, we decided to enjoy the rest of the night by heading out to a lovely Seafood Restaurant. With little time left we searched the nearest locations with great reviews that have outdoor seating and right away upon arrival we knew this was the spot! Not only did the food look great but it tasted amazing! We even got something custom for us by replacing the shrimp with Lobster instead. The environment was very peaceful and even tho we couldn't see the ocean view it was lovely being outside. The ambiance was exactly what I wanted. We didn't wait too long for our food either. Amazing drinks. I got a Mexican Mule and it was fabulous. We ordered apps for the table and the burrata has got to be my go to. The view of the bay from the restaurant was great. Our server Brittany was very quick in serving our drinks appetizers and meal while it was pretty busy. I ordered the chicken parm and I think it was one of the best i've had. 10/10 read more

This is a review of a takeout order. Edgewater seems to have polished Covid pandemic protocols to make this challenging time a pleasurable experience! My first time as a customer even though I've lived nearby for 25 years! I'm so sorry! Called for a takeout order at 5:30 PM Saturday evening, I was told order would be ready at 6PM. I arrived at 6:02 and hostess told me to see the bartender. The restaurant was very busy even by pandemic standards but all protocols were being observed and I felt very comfortable. Bartender asked my name, kitchen brought out my order packed in a shopping bag at 6:04 and I was on my way at 6:05! The food was packed in such a way to ensure freshness and presentation! Now the food: Crab bisque was smooth and flavorful, not too brothy or thick, near perfection! Fried Calamari could have used one or two more minutes in the fryer but was obviously fresh! Lobster Pasta is one of their signature dishes and I now see why, absolutely decadent! Orecchiette pasta with a generous portion of lobster meat with mushroom, a little cream, a little tomato and a little sherry! Extraordinary! This is going to become my go to place this summer! Went here for an early New Years Eve dinner. I was initially wondering if they would have had a special menu but fortunately the regular menu with really great specials were available. In spite of the early seating time, the restaurant occupied at the proper capacity, with plenty of space between tables, and plexiglass dividers where appropriate. My guest and I were seated promptly and politely. Our server, Tim, made no waste of time in coming to greet us and our experience was off to a great start. We started with the fried calamari and it was done to a very light seasoning and completeness. The breading was light and the meat was plentiful. It came with two dipping sauces, a red marinara type that was good and the other a green pesto. The pesto maybe lacked a little flavor but it was ok. For my entree I had the special of Zuppa di pesce. This was completely filled with mussels, clams, salmon and scallops. This was such a great choice, excellent flavor and quite plentiful. Dessert consisted of the chocolate lava cake. Even though it doesn't look that big, it is certainly enough for two people to share. Edgewater came highly recommended from a security guard at one of the wineries nearby. My friends and I were looking for a place overlooking the water and Edgewater met the expectation. We didn't have a reservation and was seated immediately on a holiday weekend. We were given the option to sit inside vs. outdoor and chose outdoor for obviously reasons. The ambience outdoor is great. They have a deck and a lawn area for seating. Theres also a Koi pond once you enter- very zen. I didn't go inside other than to use the restroom lol; restroom was clean. The staff was extremely attentive and nice. They all wore masks. shout out to Jeff. I had the Lobster pasta which was highly recommended. It was delicious, the lobster and mushroom was so fresh and the pasta was cooked perfectly. The portion is huge!
