I always try to give every winery a fair chance, and this one was definitely friendly--the staff greeted us warmly and made us feel welcome right away. They do offer a big selection of wines, which I was excited to try, but unfortunately, none of them really stood out as memorable compared to others I've had. The seating and vineyard views were very plain, nothing that really added to the overall experience. I've visited just about every winery on both the North and South Shore, and while I appreciate the friendliness here, I'd have to honestly place this one in my bottom five. read more

This winery has very friendly and helpful staff. It was my first time here and we were lucky to have been able to get a table under the tent. We had to make reservations. There were 5 of us. We sat at a smallish round table but it was plenty of room. Their wine tasting is not like others. Their flight of wine comes in this spiral looking thing. Up top there is a cad tells you what you are tasting in order. They have mostly snacks to much on while you drink. This winery is kid friendly. Plenty of space for them to run around if need be. Their outdoor tent seating area has a few tables. The inside area of this winery has no indoor seating. The only things in that area are a small gift shop area and a restroom. I am not a big wine person so I did not finish my flight. My friends helped me with it. This is a nice winery to come with friends, family, or on a date. Especially, if weather is great. If you are in the area, I deff recommend stopping by here. read more

This was a wonderful and fun winery. The gentleman was very enthusiastic and offered great advice of restaurant recommendations while we were in town. The other staff members were so nice as well. They all help each other. The wine flights were great and we loved the presentation. Since they are not allowed to serve open plates, we ordered a few individually packaged items like cheese and blue cheese stuffed olives and crackers. Came here with my friends and had a great time! Love how there are so many options for new wine tasters and wine sommeliers alike. Also enjoyed how the staff and one of the managers Tony were very patient and helpful when explaining the menu and the history of the vineyard. I got the Sparking Wine flight and enjoyed almost all of the 5 wines I tried. Love how they come in a little staircase with a card detailing the type of wine/notes so you know can follow along. The card also notes what types of food the wine pairs well with. My fav was probably the 2021 Rosato Merlot because it was more fruity with plum and watermelon notes. The 2020 Delaware was also very solid with the apple/grape-y vibes. Also got the try different types of vermouth which I very much enjoyed cause I like flavored/infused wine. For food, they only have packaged food but the fish dip was very taste. The cheeses were alright. Appreciate how the utensils and plates were all compostable! We got a lot of perks because someone in my party was a member. There is a new release flight exclusive for members. We also got 4 flights off along with some other discounts? Nice venue, but found it strange how they treat people coming for a tasting. First the gentlemen stopping the cars that drive up the lane (security guard??) asking why you are there was rude and off-putting to start. We had an infant with us and he directed us to park 100 meters up the gravel away from the entrance when there were plenty of spots closer. I guess those spots are only for wine club members.... When we walked up and we're greeted, we were asked if we had a reservation. We didn't realize one would be needed considering the 5 other cars in the driveway we walked past, but they seemed like it was a stretch we could sit and pay for a flight. Maybe I'm used to living on the west coast and visiting Sonoma and Napa venues that aren't as uptight, but everything experiences here felt like it was a deterrent to stay and try the wines. None of the wines blew us away, but some of the staff were friendly. I'd much rather have just stayed at Wolffer winery and enjoyed the scenery there. They were packed and much more accommodating. Doubtful we'll return here. read more

4.5 stars. This was my clear top selection from a three winery tour with friends on a spring Friday. Wine variety and quality, an elevated presentation of flights, and a genuinely warm welcome from vineyard staffer, Anthony, all made it so. The visit started a bit flat with a "just the basics" intro from another staffer. We were the only visitors at the time and our group is friendly, curious, and genuinely likes learning about wineries and their specialities. We are also accustomed to Napa and Sonoma vineyard tours. The colleague was pleasant, but offered very little information and seemed more transactional. After requesting more background, we ordered our flights. I ordered sparkling and friends ordered rosé, orange, red, and vermouth flights. They came to the table on elegant elevated racks (unlike the terrible plastic ramakins the wine flights are served in at Duckwalk Vineyards). The sparkling flight was consistently good, with the 2019 Petillant Naturel Sylvanus, a favorite. It is more rustic and less pressurized than a typical Champagne and had a lovely taste. Bottles were purchased (and served later at dinner!). Anthony joined us as we started to taste. He was warm and gregarious, giving the welcome we wished for upon arrival. He shared the history of the winery and the wines, learned that it was our friend's birthday, and brought him a special glass of wine. Anthony later brought us (also gratis) a large round of bread made by a stellar bakery using yeast produced by the winery. The bread, too, quickly found its way to the dinner table that night. Meats, cheeses, and olives ordered from the menu were all served in individually wrapped packages, requiring visitors to gingerly open packages and arrange charcuterie plates while trying to not knock over your wine flights. Perhaps a better system can be identified. All in all, this was a lovely way to start our tour, with Anthony providing the hospitality to make it a special visit. read more

Wow. I am shocked that I've never heard of Channing Daughters before today. The wine offerings are full of variety and at a solid price point of $18 for six tastings. They are so easy going and allowed a substitution for my friend who wasn't keen on the spicy vermouth. We felt welcomed and free to ask questions while we roamed between the vines and sipped some exquisite wine. The art sculptures add another layer of intrigue as you walk up past the vines. We eventually sat on one of the shaded benches sipping our favorite glass from the tasting, the Sparkling Pettilant Naturel. I do wish there was more shaded seating outside and maybe some low key music which would've enhanced the overall experience. I will absolutely be looking for them at the local liquor stores now! read more

This vineyard is in a beautiful setting. There is artwork inside the tasting room and outside throughout the vineyard. They have an extensive selection of wines and is the first vineyard that I have been to that also makes vermouth. They make six different flavors of vermouth, each with seasonal herbs, spices, fruits, and botanicals. The bottles themselves are decorated with all of the ingredients used to flavor the vermouth. The wines are all very good, and there was not one that I did not enjoy. read more

I went here recently for a group tasting as part of a bachelorette party. They have both and indoor and out door space. Even though it was pouring rain the outdoor area was covered and we were able to stay nice and dry. The tasting was good overall but they should have tried to appeal to more tastes. I think they got a little to adventurous especially towards the end. The tasting ended with this jalapeno and chili pepper vermouth (let me just say it was not a hit). We were a big group so it would have been nice to have more water available between tastings. They did have a little tray of crackers. At the end we walked around the property and checked out some of the wooden sculptures that the owner has around. read more

I've honestly never been to a place with worse service :( Maybe it's because I am not a local, but this winery only treats people nice/promptly if they are from their wine club (which we weren't in because we were just visiting the Hamptons). The only reason I may go back is because the wine is actually pretty good. I would only go there to buy a bottle and leave. As soon as we come in, we were asked to stand on the side of the entrance because we were not wine club members and they needed to look for space for us; meanwhile there were handfuls of people outside laying in the grass, standing, etc. with their wine at hand (which we verbalized we were okay with). They let in about 8-10 wine club members behind us while we stood for about 10-15 minutes not knowing what's going on. We could not order a wine flight or any food because we did not have a table... while there were people laying on the grass with flights and food on the ground. There was also an area with tables outside that others were sitting at unreserved/unattended so I don't know why we couldn't sit there and get food. We drank one glass of wine and left. It seemed like they were promoting wine club service exclusively and were withholding basic accommodations for us simply because we were walk-ins, even though they had plenty of space/ways to make it work. And if you decide to get a reservation, you have to pay money just to hold a spot (which doesn't go towards your stay to my knowledge). It really left a sour taste in our mouths when we visited, I wish we had gone somewhere else. read more

Came here last year for a work function. This place is OK at everything else except the wine. If you come from the west coast and used to hitting up Napa valley and Sonoma, you will be shocked at how bad the wine tastes here (and I'm not even really that much of a wine snob). It doesn't matter how cute the presentation is. My party tried all the flights and I feel like I want to spit out most of the wine I tasted, it's just not good. +1 star for the grounds and so so service. Judging by all the other 4-5 star reviews, I'm going to chalk it up to taste differences for east coast wineries? This is the only winery I have visited in Montauk, it didn't leave a good impression of what the region has to offer. read more

We met some friends and family for an afternoon. Since we all have young children, we took the kids to the lawn area so they could run around and not disturb others. We ordered a good amount of wine and snacks and all was well until a few of the kids were thirsty. There was a cooler of waters, so we got 3 waters and were at our table when the winemaker came up to us and aggressively accused us of stealing and being entitled. Maybe he was having a bad day, but that's not our fault. We are locals and instead of going back, we'll open a bottle of wine in our backyard from now on. The rest of the staff were incredibly apologetic, super nice and said that he has a "temper" / "hot head." they were so so nice and felt awful, so I really hesitated on writing this for their sake, but this guy should not be talking to customers. read more

Had an absolutely amazing experience, thanks to our host, Anthony. Visited the winery with a group of friends who love wine. The winery offers standard tasting for $20 for 5 wines, in a fixed flight. However, Anthony recognized that we are really interested in what the winery has to offer, so he really customized our tasting. In essence, we went through an absolute majority of the wines Channing Daughters makes. First we had few of the whites which were quite good. Next we had a full experience of the "orange" wines (skin-fermented white wines)- the wines were absolutely phenomenal - maybe a bit geeky, but everyone in our group loved them, and we had "non-geeks" with us. The reds were outstanding - Syrah was lean and peppery, another red was an excellent red field blend, Blaufrankisch was outstanding - we had 6 or 7 red wines, and they were all excellent. Channing Daughters makes 6 different vermouth wines - we were able to taste them all - they were all different, but all equally outstanding. Definitely a great visit - excellent wines, very friendly atmosphere - if you like wine, this is a perfect place for you. read more

I was really impressed with the fact that they do you're regular type wines, but also some unique wines and they do them all well. I enjoyed a glass of rosato di merlot and it was very nice! Soft and not sweet! During the tasting we got a vermouth and it was really good. Warm and raisiny but not too heavy. And they do sparkling!!!! They are fermented in the bottle, we liked it so much we got a bottle to take home. Sylvanus petillant natural. It was bubbly and dry like a champagne type wine but softer. We all enjoyed it very much. I have to say this might be my fav vineyard!!!!! read more

Once we arrived we made our way outside very nice field the tasting was set up outside They guy handling the wines was really nice & helpful when explaining each wine. We started with a couple of white wines they were good they had a nice one with a hint of an orange color this was really good. The reds were ok for me since am not a big fan but overall the wines were better here. Drinking tends to make u hungry they had crackers out prefect for snacking good idea to have. Channing daughters is a beautiful location, amazing wine, and WONDERFUL service. Our group did a white, red, rose, orange, and sparkling flight and every wine was loved by all or at least two people(our group was 4 people). Not a single disappointment. This place wasn't terrible, but, I seemed to like the selection at Wölffer more than I did here. I did try a Sav Blanc here that was pretty good - on the drier side which I like. My sister did a flight, which she said was pretty good. The man tending to the wine flights outdoors was super funny and friendly but I have to say the staff indoors were a little more uptight. They weren't rude or mean to us, but they just didn't seem as friendly as the people outdoors doing the tastings. They were knowledgeable about the wines they served, though. The atmosphere just didn't seem as welcoming as some other wine stands I've been to. I felt like I had to drink my glass of wine and go, whereas at Wölffer I could have purchased a bottle, sat outside on a blanket and sat there for 2 hours without being asked to leave. The price was a lot less than the other place though, that is for sure! Overall, a great experience and I would recommend their wines to friends who are in the area as well as friends visiting. However, I think there are some wines that taste better than what they serve there. read more

Visited on a rainy weekend without reservations with a group of 10. Only half of us wanted to do a tasting so they were able to accommodate us. There was a person manning the door so might be hard to sneak into without a reservation. Once inside, a lady charged us for the tastings and showed us outside to an open spot. Our guy was really friendly and was pretty generous with the pours. Each tasting was about half a glass. It was $18 per tasting and included 6 samples. I didn't enjoy any of the pre selected samples and the last one was vermouth. They did have very unique wines with one being made with oranges. Been here twice and had Anthony as our guide both times. He's the best! Super knowledgeable and extremely friendly. The flights are great; very reasonable prices. Recently, I tried the rainbow flight (red, pink, white, orange, petnat)- nice variety! The food (cheese, crackers, meats) are overpriced, but that's my only complaint. The view is beautiful, nice secluded space, relaxed vibe, the staff is friendly, and the wine is delicious. John our server was great and super helpful but this winery needs a few more tweaks to make it nice. First off they need to work on the atmosphere. There is a lot to be desired with the scenery. Maybe put some plants around the condenser units so that is not what you're looking at during your tasting. Also the website shows that you need to make reservations two weeks in advance for a tasting. It is not clear that the $5 fee per person that you pay for the reservation is to sit in a tent. You do not need to pay or make a reservation to sit at the other outdoor tables. Also this $5 pp is not not deducted from your check. It is an additional fee which is ridiculous. If you have 5 people or 8 people they are going to give you the same table but you will pay more for the reservation. Lastly how hard is it to make a cheese board? Instead when you order food they give it to you in plastic packages. It looks cheap and also the three cheeses were not even good. If you're in the south fork stop here as there are only 3 wineries but don't plan on spending a long time. read more

If you're planning on going to Wölffer Estate, cancel those plans and come here instead!! This winery is small and charming with lots of interesting woodwork scattered across their property. It's a little off the beaten path but it's worth the find! The first approach is impressive while you drive through the vines on a dirt road (drive slow! Keep the dust off the vines!). You can do a tasting either inside or outside on the patio. However, there's none to very little sitting - mostly standing. We walked in and went to the bar inside to do a tasting. Carl was very helpful and attentive. He also knew a lot about each wine we were tasting. The flights are reasonably priced, $16, and it covers all the wines they make all from reds to sparkling wines. They also make orange wine!! We've never tried orange wine before and we loved it. It was kind of smoky and seemed like a wine you could drink warm or chilled. There was even a vermouth tasting on the menu but Carl was nice enough to let me swap it out for another sparkling :). After our tasting we each got a glass and looked around the grounds. Like I said before there's lots of woodwork scattered around the property so be sure to take funny pictures with them! There's also a field right next to their vines where horses roam and come up to the fences. It was such a lovely day and we could've spent all day there! But let me leave you with this question - what's fancier than sipping wine while admiring artwork and petting horses? read more

I don't even know where to start. The wine and service here set the bar extremely high. I typically visit the north fork for wine so this was a welcoming change. They use grapes that no other LI wineries do, and experiment in a way that no other LI winery does. We each (a group of 4) got a tasting, and tasted all the vermouths. The only LI winery that does vermouth. Super impressive and delicious. It was a pleasure to have Kat walk us through our flights. Very knowledgeable and interested in the products. So far this is the only winery I visited where I signed up for their wine club after having just one flight. Their vermouths and sparkling options really stood out, but everything is excellent that I tried. Really can't wait to go back especially when it's warm enough to sit outside. read more

Will not be returning to this winery. I made reservations on Tock for tent seating. I approached the hostess and she asked if I had a reservation and I replied yes and was seated. Did not ask for the reservation name. My party arrived exactly on time for the reservation. My waiter was a nice gentlemen and attentive. Food was okay.. overpriced for packaged food. There was barb wire in front of grapes so can't take great pictures. The reason why I will not go back is because I wrote an email explaining I was charged for being a "no show" for reservation. I explained they never asked for my name. They wrote a passive aggressive email saying they will give me a refund but " as a courtesy because I was "late". Which I was not. Just not what I was expecting for how much I spent there. read more
