Duckwalk wasn't my favorite winery of the trip. As others have mentioned when you walk in, it isn't really clear where to go to check-in. The interior seems to maybe be an old church or something like that. They do have a large tasting bar. You grab a sheet and pick the four wines you'd like to taste. They then write them on a paper plate with plastic cups. Now for the price of the tasting, the paper plate and cups work. However, I would honestly prefer to pay more for the tasting and have it be a bit of a nicer setup. You then take your cups outside. The outside area is big an open, but there was no patio cover, and the plantings etc left a little to be desired. The vineyard was quite beautiful though. My favorite of the wine was probable their reds. If you are looking for a cheap place to do a tasting with a decent sized outdoor area, then Duckwalk does fit the bill. If you are looking for something a bit fancier this may not be the best fit. read more

Although the reviews aren't the best, and locals don't recommend this, we still stopped by. While there was no one else there, we did share a red wine flight and a glass of Chardonnay. We even purchased two attractive tee shirts. This place does have a nice logo and name. The wine flight was in 4 really cute small etched Duck Walk monogrammed glasses. One of the cabs tasted like it had been open a few days back, but the other reds were fresh. I think if you choose the red flights they pick out, you should always have fresh, tasty wine! And you usually can't go wrong with whites, since they still taste good even if not freshly opened. When we went, someone was starting to play music. I've been to this winery twice - once on a wine tour bus and once on my own. They're known for their sweet dessert wine and other notable varieties. The space inside is one very large room with a stand up bar where you can do wine tastings. They also have a little store where you can buy bottles of wine, some clothing items and other little things. The grounds this vineyard are on are very beautiful. The vineyards are right next to the tasting room, and we happened to go right before harvest so we saw grapes hanging on the vine. I wouldn't say this space has a lot of charm. Compared to other more quaint and high end wineries, I think this spot is just OK. Their wines are reasonably priced, and they accept a lot of tour buses so there is value for your money. If you're looking for affordable, sweet wine - this is your spot. read more

I stopped in here recently, coming back from my weekly Sunday drive to the Hamptons. I only went to the tasting room for wine sampling. It costs $13 to sample five wines. I sampled only dessert wines. Matt was my server. My favorite was the Blueberry Port, which I chased afterward with some dark chocolate. Matt explained that the dark chocolate intensifies the wild Maine blueberry flavor. I did not taste the difference. Maybe I would if I were given a higher quality brand of chocolate, like Godiva or Valrhona. My least favorite wine was the Boysenberry Fruit Wine. I asked Matt if I could have some chocolate with it to improve the taste. He responded that champagne makes the best pairing for the creation of a "boysenberry mimosa". So he popped open a bottle of champagne and added some boysenberry wine to it, and I still did not like the wine. Matt was an outstanding server who is knowledgeable about all the wines he gives samples of. I could see him becoming a sommelier who pairs food with wine. Snacks, like cheese and crackers, are available for purchase in the tasting room. Duckwalk's website states that appointments can be made for wine sampling; and that groups who are more than 15 minutes late may be asked to purchase the bottle in lieu of the tasting. Of all the vineyards on the east end, this may have been my least favorite that I've ever been to. We walked into the large tasting room, there was a lot of "bar" space but only 1 person behind it so we waited for a long time to helped. They give you the menu and say pick 4 and that's it. I attached a picture of what they give you, but it's literally 4 plastic Dixie cups, they pour it and send you on your way. There's so many options of vineyards, I just recommend going to one that's going to serve you in a glass, one wine at a time, describe it to you and have a place for you to sit. read more

With many screeching, loud members. I guess with Covid, the pubs are closed and limiting numbers. For winery visits I prefer a more serene space with music, which they did have. The outdoor space itself was relatively spacious with a nice view of the vineyards. The service was friendly and it was nice to sit outside on a warmish sunny spring day. I selected all reds with the Cabernet Sauvignon being my favorite but wasn't smitten with any of them. Maybe the screaming got me on edge. The cheese, a flavorful Beecher was quite good. They had Carr crackers which didn't eat. I do plan to try their other location on the North Fork and hope for a better experience. Went to Duckwalk for a friends birthday. We did a tasting. The staff were all super nice. You got to choose four of their wines. They had every option from whites, to reds, to rosés and dessert wines. They even give you a little piece of chocolate if you get the dessert wine. They had a live band outside that people were enjoying. You can also sit inside or outside. It was an extremely pleasant experience. It was dry but it's in oak barrels which I love.. hate steel barrels.. it was def deserving of the gold . Make sure u try this. Next choice was gatsby red #9. it ripe bold full bodied red wine, plum cherry and spice flavors. It's a semi sweet wine. This is my first Vineyard to visit and to participate a wine tasting with a group of friends. Something new to do to celebrate my birthday. We brought in our own food to make our own cheese and meat board with few other things. Half of us went for wine tasting, took our time and just chit chat. I don't remember how many wines we are allow to try out but I'm sure it's like 4 or something. There was 2-3 other parties there and we were all friendly with each other plus the staff that works there. This is an amazing winery plus PET-FRIENDLY!!! Elaine was super attentive and friendly. I bought in my doggie and make sure they allowed pets in order to go inside to try the wine tasting. She recommended great wines that catered to my taste. The wines were refreshing and delicious! I ordered the Windmill White, Windmill Rose, Great Gasby and the Aphrodite wines. All are semi-sweet which is what I like. My fave was the Windmill White and Aphrodite dessert wine. I also got some crackers and cheese to go with the wine. Cute spot and the wines were very tasty! We had a tough time getting into Wolffer so I suggested we try this place out. We started off with a tasting - walked inside, chose a few wines and then sat outside to drink them. Gone are the days where they give you wine glasses - boo! However, the plastic cups worked just fine. I thought their Sauv Blanc tasted really great & their blueberry sparkling wine was also tasty. They had a lot of outdoor seating and a one man band, who was actually pretty decent. Lots of Eric Clapton and a Rolling Stones song or two! Outdoor Patio Tasting: Duckwalk on the South Shore is a small and intimate vineyard. Inside, masks are required. There is no seating inside, only out back on the patio and on the side of the building. Located in Watermill, take Sunrise Hwy until it ends. Keep going East and Duckwalk will be on the left. There's a large parking lot on the side and back of the building. Entrances are in the front & back of the building. Bathrooms in the front. Inside, the winery is fairly large, nice and wide open. There are lots of wine, snacks, and cheeses for sale. Outside, the patio is beautiful with brick work throughout. A little pond and waterfall give off a relaxing vibe while overlooking the small but well kept vineyard. On the weekends, live music on the patio! I saw lots of people bring their own food/snacks in coolers which is a good idea. Due to COVID & social restrictions, seating is only outdoor. Masks are required. Tables are spread far apart outside. The bathrooms were fairly clean. No reservations are required (a lot of other wineries out East are requiring reservations with a credit card). The prices are very reasonable! Tastings (4 kinds of wine) cost $12 each. This is a great way to learn what you like before buying a large bottle. Bottles will cost around $20. The service was just ok, not overly friendly. Overall, I'm happy with my first trip to Duck Walk! The prices are great. This is a great place to visit on a beautiful summer day. read more

Duckwalk Vineyards is located in Water Mill, Long Island. We did not make any reservation and walked in on a Saturday evening at about 4:30 PM. It was just the two of us and hence there was no waiting. The weather was nice and sunny. They had live music playing. Just a heads up, it is about 2.5 hours from Upper West Side and the Vineyards close at 7. So I recommend you to reach early in case you plan on spending more time there. By about 5:45, most of the people had left. The live music was great. Nice country music playing while you sip your wine. They do not have a cafeteria. So I highly recommend you carry food with you. For purchase, they have pretzels and crackers and cheese. They were very strict about everyone wearing mask when indoors (wine tasting). The restrooms were okay. The staff was very nice and warm. We opted for 2 wine tastings and then purchased a glass of wine. They are $12 each. We get to sample any 4 wines from the menu. All wines cost between $ 17-40 Range 2018 Riesling: semi-sweet wine and not too dry. I enjoyed a chilled wine in 90 degrees. Southampton White: this is their highest selling wine. It is slightly fruity and makes a great refreshment! 2016 Blueberry Port: this is a dessert wine. It is made with blueberries and grapes. The wine comes with a milk chocolate and the way to have it is alternate bites/sips of chocolate and wine. The blueberry overpowered grapes and hence didn't feel like a wine at all. Would avoid this. Gatsby Red: probably my favourite, this is sangria wine. It isn't dry at all. It's slightly sweet and leaves behind a strong after taste. Does not taste like very "winey". 2015 Malbec: unlike other Malbecs, this felt way more fruity and much sour. Far from my favorite wine profiles and other Malbecs. 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon: fruity with ripe tannins and a long finish. The fruity notes made it different than the other Cabs. 2018 Reserve Chardonnay: Fairly dry and oaky. Not a big fan of white wines generally, but I went for a second round of this one. One of the better ones I had during the trip. 2018 Sauvignon Blanc: Dry again with notes of lemon. This was much milder than the reserve chardonnay. Must have if you're looking for something light on the palate. Brut: Pretty straightforward and nothing out of the ordinary. Warm day and sun had me reaching out for a bubbly. read more

I visited this winery for the first time this weekend. I saw on their website to call for a reservation for a party of 6 or more. I called the day of and politely asked if there were any last minute reservations available for a group of 10 and was told with an incredible attitude that it was first come first serve. The woman then explained the tasting of $16 per person and that she would probably have room in the cask room for us but it would be first come first serve. We arrived a couple hours later and the woman at the front cashwrap was immediately angry we were there and yelled that we needed a reservation. I told her I spoke to someone on the phone who said we would be able to come without one she then said "yes it was me, I'm the manager". We had gotten a table already no problem and my party was seated while she was still complaining to me that we were there all while I'm trying to pay. I kept very calm and was polite and finally said "that's totally ok I'll take my party of 10 elsewhere, I don't want to inconvenience you any longer." To which she only then let us buy the tastings. I didn't want to write this review because I love supporting local places but that woman is losing you business and she is a terrible manager for a place of hospitality. I work in retail so I get that everyone has a bad day but after seeing multiple reviews similar to my experience, don't let people treat you like the manager treats you at Duckwalk. If you're feeling elevated, but for some reason want to be brought down to earth, this is your place. You would think it would be hard to complain about a winery visit - especially one on a spring Friday - but Duckwalk Vineyards had all of the appeal of a piece of dry, unbuttered toast. Here's what we got: an unwarm greeting at the door, a soulless ordering experience at the counter, and wine flights served in plastic ramakins better suited for a side of ketchup. Oh, and they were served on paper plates, with Sharpie scribbled abbreviations for the wine types. There was no warmth extended and no pride of place or product. The wines were meh, the brut (sparkling) was my favorite, but I won't return here. I liked that this place was flexible in that we could bring our food and sit on the grass. You could buy a bottle of wine or a sample of 4. We got the Cabernet Sauvignon. The wines here are super great! My crew left with two bottles of different wines each! I only drink white wine and rose. I was surprised I did not like the rose, it was a bit too dry for me. Their white wines were absolutely delicious. Every winery I go to, I try a staple one from each. My favorites were the Windmill blush and Southampton white. As for covid, the vineyard is super attentive to this! Unfortunately, the tastings are served in plastic cups so it feels much less formal than a normal tasting, but of course given the world right now it's the right move!
