This fun restaurant, located in a strange area of the Near West neighborhood, is a real treat once you walk through the front doors! This beautiful, chic restaurant was quite busy on Valentine's Day evening. Our server did her best, but many parts of the meal were overlooked because she was definitely over-stretched on this particular evening. We remained patient and despite this ended up having a great dinner! - Umami doughnuts come in two varieties. So we got one of each, the roasted mushroom miso much better than pork confit and black cherry. - Ahi Tuna Crudo was a smaller portion but was good, as Ahi Tuna always is! - Chinese Broccoli had a nice char and delicious cheddar crisps - Beef & Veal Lasagna was a heavier portion and very rich - Crispy Chicken Ballotin. While I'm not one to typically order chicken dishes, but I don't regret this one! It was delicious with the gnocchi and I would definitely recommend! All in all, it was a good experience & I would definitely like to come back and try more things, as the menu items are continually changing! read more

5 Star introduction for my first visit to Eden! First, allow me to chronicle a back story. I've been going through a quarter life crisis so, I was on the prowl for a meal to gift myself as a farewell to my 20's. I was looking for something I could enjoy on my own and naturally transfer my sorrows into food. Too depressing for this review! Done! I came across Eden's Chef's Counter Menu. Five courses for the price of a mani-pedi (opted for no wine pairings). Eden is not on restaurant row and I second guessed the GPS when it directed me opposite. Approaching, I thought, "Oh no I don't feel comfortable leaving my car under the tracks in this neck of the woods." Thankfully, Eden has a brightly light parking lot! From the lot, you can see the row of tents that house a harvest of home grown vegetables! I was welcomed by the host with complimentary coat check. There were only three tables of people in the restaurant (more people came later in the evening). I knew this would give way for an intimate experience. I pulled up to the Chef's Counter with a birds eye view of all the action. Servers Josh and Mitch couldn't have been more welcoming and friendly. They made service top notch, replacing dinnerware, refilling tea instantaneously, and made conversation with me. 5 Courses were: (full list of ingredients are depicted in the picture of the menu.) -Roasted Sunchokes- presented by server. This was excellent. Tied for first for favorites. The small portion was hearty and crispy. -Ahi Tuna Crudo - presented by the server. This was excellent. I loved the complexity of this dish. This dish had the most gourmet feel to it with the different piped mouses and textures on the plate all complimenting the tuna. A little crunch as well. -Chestnut Tortellini - presented by Sous Chef. This pasta dish topped with freshly grated parm was very good but didn't stand out among the rest of the items. I did love the cashew texture. -Carta Fata Sea Bass - present by Sous Chef is the show stopper dish and another favorite. Carta Fata is a cooking technique that uses a sealed transparent pouch. This was presented still pinned then Chef opened the bag releasing steam and the most aromatic smell! I couldn't wait to dig in! Stew-like, best eaten with a spoon as to divulge in all of the flavorful broth! Excellent! -Black Chocolate - presented by Pastry Chef Stefano Tulipano. If you like that show Zumbo's Just Desserts on Netflix, it was like the moments when the contestants present their desserts to Zumbo describing their dish. Only, all my brain could comprehend was, "chocolate." Chocolate every other word! Woohoo! Yup, just like that for a fabulous ending. Overall, coming into this experience I knew I was going to receive smaller portions than normal and that it wasn't going to be Michelin star rated. I was totally ok with that, however, I'm not sure the items on the tasting menu are for everyone because the fare was light. Filling for me, but others might not be full by the end. I would recommend sticking to the normal menu if it's your first time visiting. Go for any of the protein dishes. Server Mitch was kind enough to show me all the plates that were coming out of the kitchen and let me tell you everything looked plentiful and mouthwatering especially: bone marrow, chicken, steak, and cauliflower crepes. Presentation is phenomenal here and ten times larger than my tasting plates! lol If you want to really splurge, do the tasting menu along with regular menu items. P.S. Special shout out to both Chefs who took good care of me. Chef Stefano, is bubbly and infectiously happy in nature! Chef Bryan is as cool as a cucumber, he even had everyone sign my menu to take home! How sweet! These guys are the real deal and it's so reassuring because their genuine hospitality makes this restaurant far from pretentious. We had a work dinner here the other week and it was fantastic. I can't wait to come back and try it on my own. We started with a charcuterie board which was superb. Great variety of meats and cheeses with a delicious sausage spread. We had a couple other apps which were also quite tasty. While not a big fan of the sunchokes, the lamb meatballs were good and had a tasty, light sauce. I got the grilled salmon entree and it was fantatsic. A bit of a salty, peppery seasoning on top, grilled to perfection to create that hint of a crisp exterior with super flavorful interior. The carrots were the other great part of the dish. This is probably one of my top 10 restaurants in the city! I've been here for dinner and brunch and both were an excellent experience with innovative and delicious creations as well as great service! The restaurant itself has a relaxing and fun ambience. I didn't get pics of the dinner but here ate some pics of Easter brunch! I wanted to update this review as I went back for their tasting menu and man can I say it was absolutely outstanding! The level of service from the server to the server assistant and even the GM is top notch! The server was so amazing he even took us to show their garden where the chef grows all the fresh produce! My friend and I went here for restaurant week and had a fun girls night out! It's nice to have a high quality dining establishment right near the United Center. I loved the ambiance, it has a modern feel. The service was friendly and prompt. In terms of the food, it was very good in general but there were a couple things I didn't enjoy as much. The cauliflower appetizer was excellent and well seasoned. The lentil brik entree was tasty but the flavors were a little disjointed bc there's so much on the plate. The Apple cake dessert was my least favorite, I enjoyed the cake but both my friend and I avoided eating some of the spices on top bc they were pretty bitter and didn't work for a dessert. I will probably just come here again for cocktails but enjoyed trying dinner. read more

Terrific friendly switched on people working there and the food...boom! Interesting dishes, expertly prepared. My sweet potato pork belly hash was one of the best breakfasts I've had in recent memory. Eden? Is that your name? Is that because you are a little garden of indulgence located in an unassuming area on the near west side? Is it because your food, drink and service make you feel that you have entered a slice of food paradise? Whatever the reason for your name, this restaurant, open about a year at this writing, blew my friends and I away the other night with a perfect trifecta of food, service and drink. We had a group of 8 so when I made the reservation, it showed up that they only had a high top left. Hmm . . . .I'm a girl who likes to dine with her feet on the ground but I thought I would give it a shot and it worked out perfectly. Know that this cute interior has a mix of tables, hightops and seats at the bar. The interior is crisp and cool so don't let the stern facade faze you. This restaurant takes up the corner of Paramount Events so the great news here is there is a LARGE parking lot for those of you who question whether this is a great place to leave your car on the street. A minute on the neighborhood- it's a bit off the beaten path today but I suspect in a few years the hot west loop mania will be taking over here too. This would be a great place to go prior to some event at the United Center given it's close proximity. Now on to the real stars of the show- the service and the food. First on service- Cindy was our server extrodinaire and she rocked our entire evening. She's the kind of server you'd like as your best friend, offering up suggestions, finding things for us to try that weren't even on the menu and keeping the food and drink pacing spot on which was no small feat given the size and opinions of our group! I'd go back again just to see this serving maven even if the food wasn't as good as it was. Ahhhh . . . .the food! Where do I start for every course was better than the one before it? Given we had a large group- we just ordered a little of this and that so in the end, we tried most of the menu. Here are our favorites: for starters the meatballs, mushroom and pork donuts (sounds odd but order them, they are great!) and the carpaccio (spicy . . what gave it that kick? so good and beautifully presented!) For entrees- they were all winners, the pork chop was huge and perfectly cooked, the steak tender and juicy, the lentil brick (sounds odd but was delish for a veggie offering) and the chicken which was stuffed with more chicken (if you are one who never orders chicken when you go out- you must try this!) And then it that wasn't enough- there were desserts, chocolate chip cookies hidden in a glass covered with chocolate, a chocolate cake with a mousse like filling served with charcoal ice cream, an upside down apple cake,and my favorite the strawberry shortcake which was as beautiful to behold as it was to eat! The wine was amazing and we even got a little upgrade to a better bottle. And if specialty cocktails are your thing- they've got those too. I could go on and on but instead of doing so, just go and check it out for yourself. There is no doubt you will be raving about this special "garden of indulgences" too. A delicious take on mediterranean/american food! We came here for NYE, so the place was pretty packed. Luckily there were seats at the bar where we could wait and enjoy their cocktails and admire the decor- I loved the industrial/hipster/clean vibe they have there! The food was on par with how beautiful the restaurant was. I got to try the lamb and beef meatballs, chicken, and steak, and all were amazing. This is one of those places where I didn't know what half the ingredients were on the menu, but everything just came together perfectly! I highly recommend the chicken and gnocchi-- the chicken was cooked beautifully (not dry at all, which is my biggest fear when ordering chicken at a restaurant) and all the flavors worked really well together! We ended the night with dessert (Black Chocolate- interesting... pretty good but mostly interesting) and a champagne toast to welcome in the new year :) read more

An exceptional meal awaits at this contemporary, industrial-style gem in the West Loop! I assume Eden is a Michelin star contender, but you wouldn't know that from the reasonable price point of the menu. Positives: Cocktails: I had the Elevenses: (earl grey infused beefeater gin, lavender orange blossom honey, grapefruit bitters, and egg white). I LOVED this cocktail, and regret not having another. It was well-balanced, not overly sweet, and the gin did not overpower any of the other ingredients. It was perfect. Like Clockwork: (white lion arrack, elite sherry, chocolate orange, cherry bark vanilla bitters) my dinner partner advised me that white lion arrack is a coconut infused spirt from his home country of Sri Lanka, so he was excited to try it. This drink was very smooth, delicious, and equally as well-balanced by the ingredients. This would be a nice after dinner cocktail as well, also nice for cold evenings to warm your soul ;) Food: We started with the Burrata. Served with perfectly prepared focaccia, it was a delightful combination that was salty and savory. I personally preferred it without the honeynut squash, as I enjoyed the textures and flavors of the other ingredients more. But the squash itself was tasty. Our entrees consisted of the Black Truffle Ravioli, and I had the Wood grilled Swordfish. I was so impressed with my dish, and cannot express enough good things about it. I loved the combination of the kalettes, sunflower, and citrus mixed with the fish, which was perfectly grilled. Honestly one of the best seafood dishes I've had in Chicago, and it was a larger portion, which was pleasantly surprising. Negatives: none, really. The white chocolate pumpkin mousse dessert was slightly lacking with all that was going on, but the mousse itself was delicious. I feel it didn't even really need the cranberry compote, pecans, or the cognac garnish. Fabulous meal & drinks, fantastic, attentive service /hospitality, and great ambiance. Came back to Eden for a second time and had a fantastic experience! Our server, Bill, was very attentive and made sure we were taken care of the entire meal. We were lucky to do a tasting menu where the chef introduced each dish to us. It was great to hear exactly what was in each dish because it all was delicious! We had: Suzuki Crudo- refreshing & light; fish prepared perfectly Little gem Caesar - honestly not sure how they made a simple salad taste so good lol... it might have been the olive bread croutons! Beef and Veal lasagna- yummmm Crispy Chicken Ballotine- included both white and dark meat and the eggplant purée on the bottom was delicious Black Chocolate dessert- oh my so good, my lactose intolerant sister ate the whole thing, so that's saying something. Unfortunately our server told us this was the last night it would be on the menu so apologies to all of you that weren't able to try it. Loved the meal here! We came for a group dinner and had a menu set for the evening. It was nice to have a couple options to choose from. I think I went with the right choices, for sure. The squash caponata was out of this world as was the hominy-legume stew. Each dish provided a mix of creative ingredient combinations and flavor profiles that I rarely experience at restaurants, which was refreshing. The space itself is beautiful. Off the beaten path, locally sourced, creative restaurant. -Cocktails were veryyy good. -Service was attentive, polite, and knowledgeable - felt like a fancy outing. -Dessert was pretty tasty too and fun to watch the one on fire. -Ambiance was pretty good when you walked in. I did feel it was a bit on the dim side and we felt a little close to the table next to us. Because it was so quiet you could hear ppl well on other tables. -Food unfortunately was a bit hit or miss. I can definitely appreciate the creativity of the chefs and the fresh ingredients. There are also plenty of vegetarian options. The umami donuts were great and unique. The gnocchi, however, was smaller than I expected but I couldn't have eaten more because I felt the taste just wasn't very good. I normally love truffle and mushroom but they didn't really taste like anything. My fiance's entree was better but still no flavors were out of the ordinary. -Prices were fair overall for the quality of the restaurant though I thought the gnocchi was overpriced. -Herbs were fresh and it's really cool that they have an on-site garden that they pick them fresh from. Overall, I wouldn't be in a rush to come back with all the greata restaurants still left to try in the city. But, it could be a really cute place to go with friends in the warm weather. read more

You can tell the folks at Eden think carefully about balancing flavor and nailing every single item on the plate. What a great brunch experience! First, the food is excellently spiced and flavored, without being overly salty or confusing with too many different flavors. We had the Eden Burger and the Pork Belly and Sweet Potato hash, as well as the cinnamon donuts and blueberry scone with fig jam. All excellent. For drinks we had the 36 and Bellini. Even the fries with the burger can stand alone on flavor - brown butter, herbs, double fried, with a delicious aioli. Next, service is wonderful. The manager and waitstaff really took care of us and even comped the scones (and sent over complimentary donuts) as they were taking a while. Finally, there is a parking lot and that alone makes the experience at Eden 10x better than brunch anywhere else in the city that requires an extra 15 min of circle. Highly recommend the airy environment at Eden for brunch, parties, and dates. We will certainly be back for dinner as we have our eye on a few dinner items! read more

I normally don't review private group dinners, but this is an exception since the dinner was really that good. I had the burrata, pomme frites, baby iceberg wedge, crispy fried chicken and the carrot chocolate tarte. The burrata was delicious, as usual, but it was also accompanied by fresh veggies and fruits. The pomme frites were also tasty and came with 3 dipping sauces - I was very pleased to see banana ketchup on the menu, might be the first time I've seen it at a non-filipino restaurant! The baby iceburg wedge was plated creatively and was filled with little goodies like gooseberries, fried coppa, chive ash, blue cheese with a yummy smoked tomato vinaigrette. I couldn't resist ordering the crispy fried chicken since it had fish sauce caramel in the description and it didn't disappoint. It also had a really flavorful green goddess sauce that reminded me of green chutney. The carrot chocolate tart wasn't overly sweet and was a great way to end the meal. This gets a full on 5-stars which is definitely hard for this kind of restaurant. First, the location is a bit off the beaten trail, but not so much. But there is plenty of free parking either in their lot or on the adjacent street. That is a plus as usually when you go to this kind of restaurant you end up dropping at least $20 for valet. Second, the ambiance and space were quite classy, yet down to earth. Somehow the host decided to seat us in a private room in the back. This was awesome for so many reasons. We were seeing some friends we don't see often so having a room to ourselves to be able to talk was spectacular. Third, the service was top notch all the way around. The server and the host were just phenomenal throughout the whole meal. In the end the host gave us a tour of their onsite greenhouse in which they grow some of the food used on the menu. Fourth and probably most important was the menu and food. They have a really good variety of options that would satisfy just about everyone from vegan to pure carnivore. Also the drink menu is quite extensive including many great non-alcoholic options. I wasn't feeling well and so I got some sort of "mock-tail" that delicious and had some honey in it. My entree was a salmon that was to die-for. I would highly recommend this place to foodie's and non-foodie's alike. read more

It's really a 3.5 but no halves on Yelp! Went on a Saturday night with two other couples. It was pretty busy in the place. Also very loud! If you don't like noise, don't dine here. It's like the voices echo off everything. We didn't mind. The service started off good but slowly took a turn for the worst. We ordered some apps, then pasta, then entrees. We were absolutely bombarded by about 7-8 dishes. We had told them to hold off on the pasta, but it was brought anyway. They completely forgot the umami donuts and after we were done eating, they asked if we still wanted them. Lol. We put a hold on our entrees as we shifted plates and felt rushed to shovel in the apps and pasta to make room. I think there was a party going on either outside or somewhere. They were struggling and I saw a large tent outside. The drinks were very unimpressive. After my first cocktail we decided that wine would be a better option. Everyone at our table was kind of luke warm with the cocktails. Even at the end of the meal, we wanted one more drink and instead of ordering it here, we packed up and headed to Maudes. The food was actually pretty good! I love the concept of garden/fresh, etc House made bread-one came out with an herb butter and then later when we ordered more, plain butter. But it was good. Nothing too amazing Lamb & beef meatballs-excellent. The freshness of the herbs cane through. Wedge salad-great. I just wished there was a little more dressing to soak up the lettuce leaves Octopus-yum! Refreshing and cooked to perfection. The zip of lemon and chicory yogurt really balanced it out. Pierogi-I really enjoyed this. The sauce was very earthy. The pierogi were pillows of soft dough that melted in my mouth Tagliatelle-rich and creamy with just the right amount of meat. Again, pasta was amazingly done Seafood stew-excellent! Slightly spicy. Mounds of mussels and fish filled my bowl. So good Overall, the food was pretty darn good. I loved getting to peek inside their greenhouse after our meal to see the homegrown herbs and greens they use to cook with. Eden was outstanding, really. We arrived on a Friday evening, and most (but not all) tables were filled. We made a reso on OpenTable and opted for the bar seating beforehand, and the hostess offered us the kitchen counter seating. Well that was a bonus. Ample natural sunlight flowed into the industrial loft-like space. White subway tiles against the kitchen wall. White exposed bricks. Wooden floor panels (reclaimed wood maybe). Every dish we ordered was on point in terms of taste and presentation. If Eden wasn't off the beaten path of the West Loop-ish area, if it was on Randolph or Fulton Market, I bet it would be harder to score reservations here. Beef & lamb meatballs -- so flavorful with the perfect level of moist. Ahi tuna crudo -- one of the memorable items for me. Give the egg yolk a little poke and the runny yolk flows out to the chunks of very fresh rare tuna. Pork tagliatelle -- oh my goodness. Really could not get enough of this. The pasta had the perfect chewy texture and the sauce was so well flavored. The addition of nuts and apples may sound odd but came together nicely before we moved on to the remaining final courses. Seafood stew -- dare I say the best I've had? One of the reasons is that it isn't your generic tomato-based seafood stew that seemed to be the most common way of preparing it at every other restaurant. The broth had so much depth. The flavor was complex but without any heaviness. We learnt from Chef Devon that andouille was used as the base of the broth (hopefully I remembered that right). Additional items go into the making the broth, including octopus. Bavette steak -- it was good, though admittedly we were a little less excited about this dish than the others. This chef infuses diverse ingredients in unique ways to create masterful flavors in every bite. Every dish was distinctive and remarkable, but the market fish, pea pirogies, and bourbon-coffee dessert were my favorites. Do not skip dessert. The restaurant offers a five course tasting menu for $50 ($75 with wine pairing), select weeknights only. I dock a star for operations. We had 4-5 waiters who did not communicate with each other. Too slow, and some odd things happened... - Waiter was not familiar with tasting menu; - First course (amuse-bouche) took 30 min to arrive; - Waiter brought us a second round of the same course by mistake; - Second course took another 25 min to arrive; - Waiter brought us coffee we did not order; - and so on. So definitely come to Eden and enjoy a memorable meal. But perhaps do not come for a business dinner as poor operations may leave you in an awkward situation. read more

Service: Worst waiter i ever had n i have had some shitty waiters. besides her this place was amaizin must orders: foie gras/ uni pork belly/ bone marrow/ lasagna/ market fish/ lamb/ donuts/ chocolate crunch/ apple namelaka Umami donut $8 the donut texture was really fluffy. The filling was really tender just wish it was more flavorful. The coating on the donut was a bunch of savory powders that get stuck on ur finger so dont eat with ur hands. The sauce was really rich just wish there was more cheese in it. this dish was good just not as amaizing as everything else add something to make it up like put truffle in the cheese sauce make the filling more rich add something spicy n vinegary to give it pop Seared foiegras 24$ amaizin: the foiegras was seared perfectly it melted in ur mouth. Its pared with a blackberry componte thats sweet pairs beutifully with foiegras cuts down the richness. Only thing would have preferred sauce over a compote. The bread was nice n butter an toasted so good. The sweetness of the onions cut through the richness only complaint other then forgetting to put ingredients is toast the bread plz bread needs to be crunchy Duck lasagna 20$: amaizin one of the best lasagnas i ever had. This is a lasagna that has every flavor element sweet,salty, bitter, sour. Its a big portion too, there was so much duck n it was so tender and flavorful. The lamb was amaizin big portion supper tender and flavorful. The panna cotta didnt set but it was so tasty theres mint in it and lamb goes great with mint jus put more cause not enough it really cuts through the richness. Theirs a lamb jus on the plate really tasty just would prefer a thicker sauce over a soupy one. The chickpea stew its like whole chickpeas n humus was amaizin phenomenal i didnt share this dish only complaint is needs texture u could fry up some chickpeas its worth the price Donuts: amaizin the donuts were really tasty just the texture was off maybe a lil underdone n add more 3 donuts is not enough! The salted carmel was amaizin cut through the sweetness. Loved the icecream perfect texture just wish it was something unique something acidic to cut through the richness would have been great. Delicious, low key, modern spot! Fell in love with the decor and the fresh feel. Noticed the greenhouse garden outside by the back which was very cool! Every herb and vegetable is home grown that gives it a very farm to table vibe. Came here with a group of three and ordered everything to share. For starters, we did the donuts and flatbread. Two completely different tastes going on, Donuts more savory and flatbread more clean. The donuts were absolutely my favorite! I could eat those everyday! After that, we ordered the octopus and Portuguese Chicken. The octopus presentation was very beautiful but the flavor on the chicken was to die for. Very tender, flavorful chicken. There was a lot of savory sauce with this dish so if you are not in to that then i would not recommend. Lastly, we finished the night with a recommended coconut sorbet. Amazing choice! Very light and refreshing dish to finish our the night. Overall, for two courses, 4 starters, dessert and a bottle of wine, it was plenty of food and the price for it all was amazing. What a heavenly experience here at Eden. I was super impressed by the food, the service, and the decor. Location: Hidden west, near United Center. Off the beaten path, and truly elusive from any possible tourists, it was the perfect dinner option on a week night. Decor: You will not expect the decor to be as elegant as it is from the outside. I was expecting grunge, yet I got chic and modern vibes from the glass and steel. Very airy and open space. The lighting and fixtures are stunning, and so is the bar area. Even the bathroom is picturesque. Service: Very good. Accommodating. Not over the top. Just right. Food: Absolutely fantastic. Brussels Sprouts. Boy oh boy. This is my favorite vegetable, and Eden's stole my heart. And my soul. Melt in your mouth good. Perfect balance of crunch and chew. And then to put shredded bunches of duck in too?! Shut up and take my money. Chicken & Lentil Soup: one word: ORGASMIC. First, the portion size is incredible. Each bite you got a bit of chicken, and the broth was packed with flavor and kick of spice. Get this. Braised Pork Shoulder: The fact that this came in a mini dutch oven had me so giddy. When I opened it, and the air filled with steam and revealed this big ol' chunk of meat with this stunning piece of candied blood orange on top...I didn't know whether to scream, cry, or pass out. This pork was so tender. So JUICY. So flavorful! The citrus mixed with the meaty white beans underneath the pork along with the pork itself, had my eyes rolling to the back of my head. I was getting full because of the soup, but I'd be damned if I didn't finish every bite of that dish. Warm Apple Cake: perfect and refreshing. The cake was so moist and when mixed with the melting vanilla ice cream, it was a light yet decadent way to round out my meal. 5 stars, Eden. You really have a great thing going here. A little further out of the loop than I was expecting. Dress casual as interestingly the only well dressed couples were at the bar. Cocktails were just okay. Had the 36. The house made artisanal bread was fantastic but $5. Had the pork tagliatelle which was quite good but you have to like al dente(which I do). Had the short rib (they've since changed their menu and had to think a while before I remembered what the entree was) which wasn't as tender as I was hoping for. All in all a pleasant meal read more

I love Eden. I really think this is one of my favorite restaurants in Chicago. To begin, I adore the atmosphere. Its modern with a clean design and exposed brick walls... the place is Instagram worthy from head-to-toe. The environment is really inviting-- easily the type of place you could get lost in several drinks (which by the way, are STELLAR here). I visited with a group of my colleagues and we had an incredible meal. It was honestly so hard to choose-- the menu is inventive, colorful and everything sounds utterly delicious. I went with the duck lasagna, which sounded special. Boy, was it ever. The portion was hearty, the duck was perfectly tender, and the presentation was beautifully capped off with bright grapefruit slices. Its clear they take pride in creating a beautiful plate. All of the servers had wonderful personalities, and I really appreciate that the GM went out of his way to make sure I had a comfortable chair for my injury. What a wonderful place to celebrate any occasion for a stylish and delicious meal. Eden felt a little bit off the beaten path (at least to me, because i'm not from the area), but trust me, Eden is as good as it gets in Chicago! read more

Can I say YES! Huge fan... With this being the only second week of brunch I have to say kudos. First off they PARKING! If you live in the chi you know how great this is. So you already start ahead of the game with this perk. Off the beaten path on the West side close to the united center. The space is beautiful. When we walked in we were greeted by the host and a young lady who took our coats. As we sat and reviewed the menu I was immediately excited bc they had pescatarian options but lots of options for everyone. Everything is made in house. The bread, the doughnuts, and a lot of items farm to table with a garden being right out back. We decided to share the Quinoa cakes and have mimosa's (champs of course) These Quinoa Cakes were so good I asked the chef for the recipe. They were served with grilled pineapple, slivered almonds, lemon, on a bed of buttermilk ricotta with caramelized pineapple syrup. #yummers For my main meal I had The Soft Scrambled Eggs with avocado, blue crab, fried sunchoke, and chili oil. As a side I had Crispy Fingerling Potato (AMAZING) This dish was filling without having to feel too full. I loved it. Other things that caught my eye the biscuits with honey butter, Maple Brûlée Ruby Grapefruit and today the House-made Pastry of the day was Cinnamon Roll. (no sweets for lent) Will try these next time. Not an extensive drink menu for brunch but they do have a full bar and Sean the bartender made our visit that much better! Now why I didn't give it 5 stars. Our server was horrible. He wasnt attentive to our needs or our table and his excuse was that it was their second week of brunch. Uhm sir if you work as a server, service is service no matter if its brunch, lunch, breakfast or dinner. And he worked all his other tables I watched him. Which leads me back to Sean. He saved the day. He worked the bar and our table and was amazing. He even make me a bourbon drink that I had somewhere else and made it perfectly! The bar and bus backs were amazing as well. Kudus to all the staff that step up and made this experience that much better! I can't wait to go back for brunch and dinner as well. They have a chef's bar and I want to experience that. Checked out Eden for the first time. Made the reservation for our anniversary through open table and was only able to get a 5:00 pm seating. ( for $20.00. Which I don't understand but let's move on) so I received a call an hour or so prior to arriving to ensure my arrival which I confirmed. I was asked if we were celebrating a special occasion, upon which I said we were, it's an anniversary celebration. They said that they would make sure that they recognized that. We arrived, basically only people in the restaurant, was seated immediately and ordered our meals. We tried the burrata at the recommendation of the waitress which was great except it may of needed a few more pieces of bread . It was proportionally off. But great though. Our meals were good. We had short rib, fish and steak. Best thing was the short rib. Ordered potatoes for a side which was also good. Cocktails we're good. Had several different drinks and of course dessert. Tried the cookies and the chocolate cake. Both were great. Probably the best part of dinner but they forgot to acknowledge that it was our anniversary. I felt embarrassed. Why would you ask if we're celebrating something and not acknowledge it. It would of been nice if they at least wished us a happy anniversary. I would go back for the entrees but not necessarily the starters. Umami Doughnuts stuffed with striploin. Unfortunately these fell short for me. There was NOT enough beef in the doughnuts and the cheese sauce was like a cheese foam. It was too light for the quantity of dough. You get 4 doughnuts to an order. Winter Squash Caponata - cold appetizer. Small cubes of winter squash, with grapes, shallots, and parsley. Served with slices of baguette. I was hoping this would be a warm, roasted squash dish but I think they was my lack of knowledge regarding caponata. Skirt Steak - the best dish of the night. Sliced steak with fingerling potatoes, mushrooms, and served with a bearnaise sauce. The steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly. It was a great (large) portion size as well. read more

I came in here for resturant week with a fellow Yelp friend, and we were both EXTREMELY excited for our visit. After reading 5 star Yelp review after 5 star yelp review, we had very high expectations. When we first walked in the door, I was floured by the beautiful decor. It's all white(my fav) which was smart because it makes the space look much bigger than it really is. There is also tons of greenery around the resturant(other fav) giving it a really fresh and hip feeling. We were seated immediately and our server explained the menu. He was really friendly and did an excellent job checking in on us the first half of our meal, but after they removed our entrees it seemed as if he had gone missing? It took way too long to get our desserts, not that we were in a rush, but it's something you notice. We were a little disappointed about this especially because all of the reviews we had read called out the astounding service. Anyways, on to the food. Between the two of us we sampled the whole resturant week menu. Everything was good, but nothing felt very "wow" other than the pork shank and the chocolate caprese. Both starters were good, but a little boring. The semolina gnocchi dish was very good for a vegetarian dish, but my friend still felt hungry after. Overall we thought that 1 option for each course was very light and the other was a ton of food. For example, the chicken soup was big and filling but the salad felt very light. Similarly the gnocci was very light but the pork dish was huge! I guess I just feel like they didn't put their best dishes forward for resturant week. I will say that pork shank was amaaaaazing. The blood orange glaze on top was really something else. Also the chocolate caprese was a wonderfully creative dish that I can't out of my head. The basil sherbert was so tart, but it paired perfectly with the sweet chocolate and milk ricotta. Delish! Definitely interested in coming back to try the regular menu. read more

We had a special work dinner here, I'm glad my coworker found it--amazing place! For special events they have a lovely back room that is simply decorated with a large table, facilitating conversation. The food was more along the simple, wholesome ingredient range without any crazy experimentation, more interesting combinations of vegetables and meats/sauces. Overall, my boyfriend and I didn't find anything really stand-out here. We got the salmon croquettes and fries to start. The salmon croquettes were specifically recommended by our server, but they were lackluster. They did have a smoked salmon flavor, but I was expecting some chunks of smoked salmon, and there were none. The fries were great, but you can get great fries a lot of places. For entrees, we got the gnocchi and seafood stew. Again, we didn't think either were that special. In fact - pet peeve of mine when ingredients are left out - the menu said the seafood stew included prawns, but there were none.
