I finally made it Eden today, for brunch. LOVED IT! Zero complaints. Beautiful space, high end feeling, yet casual and not stuffy, and in an unassuming tucked away part of Avondale. QUIET, with sound-absorbing panels in the ceiling (not an exciting detail, I know...but I noticed and loved the effect!) and music NOT-blasting (thank you). Professional staff and good service. EXCELLENT cocktails (we had a Bees Knees and a Greenhouse). FOOD was fantastic. Per their website, their philosophy is fresh, simple, clean, and local, and it comes through in the food. Reasonably priced and portioned. Everything at Eden including the food is pretty to look at too! Brunch at Eden made me happy, and made my day, so thank you Eden! I can't wait to try dinner here. read more

Great restaurant with very nice staff. The food was excellent! Will definitely come back again in the future!

Simple upscale vibe with great seasonal menu with a shared plate focus. They have an amazing cocktail menu with original drinks as well as their own twist on traditional cocktails. Parking is very tough and you most likely will need to park on the other side of Roscoe. We enjoyed having one appetizer, one salad, one pasta, one entree, and 2 sides. That seemed like a great amount for 2. Excited to come back and try the next season's menu. read more

my husband and i had reservations for dinner on a wednesday night. it wasn't too busy and therefore not too loud inside - but could see how the acoustics would be bad if it was packed. parking across the street was easy. our server was friendly, funny, and attentive. the meal was well paced and relaxed but also maybe not the place to go if you're in a rush. we had... - the bread: amazing! both the sourdough and asiago were warm and tasty.. and the butter.... yes yes yes - berry salad: much better and larger than expected. so fresh! - side of asparagus: tasty but not as unique as the other offerings we had - tagliatelle: my husband was wowed by the sauce and said it was the best pork tagliatelle he's ever had (!) - strawberry shortcake and rhubarb: deconstructed presentation which i'm always disappointed with. good overall but not our favorite flavors. - cookie plate: the surprise hit of the night. adorable and perhaps some of the best cookies we ever had - seriously. our favorites were the macadamia apricot (omg) and coconut. we really appreciated the friendly service and attention to seasonal flavors. we can't wait til they release their summer menu. we'll definitely be back! read more

What a hidden gem. Just east of Ashland under the train tracks is this adorable and delicious restaurant. I've had the pleasure of having dinner and brunch and continue to be impressed. Most recently I went for brunch and started with the biscuit and jam. As an avid biscuit eater I have pretty high standards and this biscuit made the cut. The waiter then convinced me to get the quinoa cakes. They not only look amazing they taste just like pancakes! I don't understand the witchcraft they did to turn quinoa into that much goodness but I highly recommend them. read more

Had a sensational dinner at Eden last night, highly recommend! All three of us dining loved the appetizers, salads, entrees, desserts and the inventive cocktails. Service was excellent, the space is stunning, but the food was truly awesome, everything was so fresh, very well balanced menu and cooked to perfection. I live very close and can't wait to return and try brunch/lunch, and will definitely be back for dinner. Very pleased to have found my new favorite spot to bring friends and family, but me and the mister will be back soon to try the other salads and mains in the meantime. Eating the leftover Brussel sprout salad now, all the dishes were next level delicious. Thanks Team Eden for a lovely evening, made my mom's visit to Chicago in the middle of winter worthy. Super appreciated the special happy birthday wishes on the menu upon arrival. read more

Really good place. On Valentine's day they let us aplit the tasting menu, which was $120 for vegetarian. Regular is $150. We also ordered one wine pairing for $50 for the one not driving. And then I got two Eden drinks and Red Crab Bucatini. We sat at the bar in front of the kitchen which meant that we had the food presented by the head chef about half the time. It was great! The drink Eden was very tasty and was very refreshing and slightly bitter (more on the bitter tea side). The meal started with an amuse bouche that used a bitter ingredient, don't remember the name. Very meh but the ingredients on top of that bitter leaf did cancel out the bitterness. The umami donut was delicious and the sauce it was in played very well with the fruit and veggies in the donut. The flatbread was very well baked, crunchy yet not too hard and held the ingredients well, which had lots of mushroom. The mushrooms were great. The gnocchi had a ton of mushroom too and I kept hearing the chef call out gnocchi no mushrooms... If you are not a fan of mushroom, I don't think getting the gnocchi without it is worth it at all. The crab Bucatini was delicious and airy. There was more crab meat than pasta, twas awesome. The curried lentil brick was very good and I liked it but the flavors are very subtle. When I eat lentils at a Mediterranean place its an explosion of spices, and here it wasn't so be ready to really think about what the flavors are. The lentil brick is a medium for you to put the rest of the toppings in your mouth. The cheese plate was also pretty good with house made jam cheese and bread. The night ended with two desserts, the raspberry sorbet in a ball of chocolate they melt and then two pieces of fruit candy. Both great. read more

Off the beaten path, locally sourced, creative restaurant. -Cocktails were veryyy good. -Service was attentive, polite, and knowledgeable - felt like a fancy outing. -Dessert was pretty tasty too and fun to watch the one on fire. -Ambiance was pretty good when you walked in. I did feel it was a bit on the dim side and we felt a little close to the table next to us. Because it was so quiet you could hear ppl well on other tables. -Food unfortunately was a bit hit or miss. I can definitely appreciate the creativity of the chefs and the fresh ingredients. There are also plenty of vegetarian options. The umami donuts were great and unique. The gnocchi, however, was smaller than I expected but I couldn't have eaten more because I felt the taste just wasn't very good. I normally love truffle and mushroom but they didn't really taste like anything. My fiance's entree was better but still no flavors were out of the ordinary. -Prices were fair overall for the quality of the restaurant though I thought the gnocchi was overpriced. -Herbs were fresh and it's really cool that they have an on-site garden that they pick them fresh from. Overall, I wouldn't be in a rush to come back with all the greata restaurants still left to try in the city. But, it could be a really cute place to go with friends in the warm weather. read more

This spot has phenomenal vibes! We had a great time sitting on the patio. We ordered a bottle of white wine which was a nice starter and the burrata (sp?). We were disappointed in the number of pieces of bread that came with the burrata - we had to ask for extra bread to make it worth the $18 price tag. The lamb shank was delicious. It fell right off the bone. The pita that came with it was soft, buttery, and warm. Portion sizes were smaller than I was expecting. That's all. Our server Jeanne was phenomenal! Kudos to her and I hope someone from Eden reads this and can recognize her for her superior ability to welcome guests. read more

First time visitors who had been meaning to come for awhile. We had a terrific experience. From our friendly welcome at the host station, through our server Bill to the efficient and kind bussers, it was a lovely visit to an establishment that strives for excellence. Bill, our server was smart & fun. His recommendation of the octopus appetizer was great advice. He always made sure that we wanted for nothing. The table visits from the manager, Mark(if I remember) made us feel welcomed and appreciated. Jeremiah's(again, I think I caught that name ) wine advice was very appreciated. The whole evening was glorious. Fantastic first visit. . read more

The service was excellent, the food not so much. It is not for me. The decor has a subtle modern sophistication  with white wash, brick exposed walls and very little wall decorations. The stainless steel covered tables mix well with the walls & the soft indirect lighting adds elegance to the place. We were the first customers of the evening during this visit. The menu indicates American Mediterranean style, and shows the chef's dedicated imagination to his craft. The appetizers (Starters), and the small plates (First Course) are not bad, but did not wow me, or blow me away. From the Starters, The Umami Doughnuts are a popular choice, but The lamb and Beef Meatballs get my vote as a better choice. From the First Course, I'm partial to the Salmon Crudo, but, my date stands firm for the Grilled Baby Octopus. The main course is where I was completely disappointed. Maybe it is me, but when I ordered the Seafood Stew, I was expecting something like a Boullanese or a Chopino, or even a Greek Fisherman's Stew; instead, what I got was a good flavored, well reduced stock and very little else. I originally intended to order the "Cumin Grilled Lamb", but it is served with couscous, which I don't particularly enjoy, and when I asked if it could be substituted by anything else, I was told I could order another side dish. (No substitutes) By the way, the menu indicated "grilled baguette" with the seafood stew, but it was substituted with something like pita or flat bread. (So much for no substitutes). I guess if I were to go back, or recommend someone to do so, it will be for wine, drinks & small plates. Ease yourself into it, maybe you will like it better then I did; after all, it's all a matter of taste. read more

Had a fantastic lunch! Service and food was top notch! Love the location near Roscoe Village, too.

Both my two friends and I agreed that this place was one of the best brunch spots we've ever been to. The food was a 10/10. We had the creme brûlée'd grapefruit, smoked ham and caramelized onion crepe, breakfast burger, eggs Benedict with crab meat, and doughnuts with miso caramel sauce. The burger was incredibly well seasoned and a perfect medium rare, just as requested. The tomato jam on the burger was super flavorful and added the perfect amount of sweetness. The crepe was nice and light and the ham was not too salty. We finished the meal with the homemade doughnuts dusted with sugar and cinnamon, which came with a miso caramel dipping sauce. The sauce was a very nice mixture of salty and sweet and overall a fun play on salted caramel. The miso was very strong, however and definitely lingered in your mouth a little too long. It also would've been nice if the doughnut came out warm. Will need to come back here in the future! read more

I was here once before and my mail was fantastic. They changed their dinner menu to offer small and large plates which really gave us a chance to try several different things on the menu. Amazing. Simply amazing. Our server, Kirsten is a gem. She was able to explain the menu in such a fashion that it was easy to understand the flavor profiles and concepts of the dishes so I didn't feel like an idiot. Decor and dress code was fresh and innovative. Casual but respectful of the presentation. Wine list was extensive, would like to see more Washington wines (LeEcole or more from Woodward Canyon please!) But cocktail menu was delightful - and Kirsten was amazing at picking different cocktails for us t.o try. We had the Brussel sprouts, umami donuts, bone marrow seafood stew and lamb entree. Seriously amazing. Lots of dishes to share, but with drinks, be prepared to spend at least 200 bucks. Incredibly worth it though. Farm to table menu; greenhouse on site. Bring your girlfriend, boyfriend, parents. Make reservations; after 7pm the place gets packed. read more

A 360 turn-around from last time I was here. Food was warm, delicious, and presented beautifully. Wine was top notch (Tamperillo) and Bill, even though overwhelmed, had enough character and personality to make everything smooth. Chef said hello which was a very nice touch. I took my friend here to celebrate her birthday. Everything was perfect from start to finish! First off the hospitality was definitely felt. We were also really impress with our waitress knowledge of the menu and her recommendations. We described what type of drink we were looking for and were told to go with the pina pisco. It was sweet, but still had that hint of citrus we were looking for. For our starter we decided to check out the empanadas. We had one of each (beef and potato and the mushroom). OMG we couldn't get enough of the broccoli-pipita purée. I can't even describe the unique taste to you, but just know we wanted to lick the plate afterwards. For our main entree we both went with the 22oz painted hills ribeye with Bearnaise, coffee, and hazelnut. What an interesting combination that works so well together. The flavor profile of this restaurant is so creative and made for a really memorable dining experience. A good side to have with the ribeye is the crispy fingerling potatoes. Again excellent flavor. They were seasoned so well! For my friends birthday they served us 3 different desserts to try. We were already stuffed, but couldn't help ourselves they were so good. Our favorite would have to be the coconut tapioca cake, which is funny because both of us would have never chosen that on our own. We had such an amazing dining experience! Next up the bottomless Mimosas/bloody Mary brunch is calling our name. read more

We were big fans of Eden in their last location so we were very excited to go back to their new Avondale spot. First off this place is much cuter than the last. The patio is gorgeous and off to the side is a location where folks can play cornhole while waiting for their table. The food was incredible. We had the burrata (which was served with a life changing focaccia), mushroom wraps, ricotta gnocchi, and the Brussels sprouts. The Brussels sprouts were perfectly seasoned and covered in a delicious cheese. It ate more like a potato chip than a vegetable. Definitely a must try. The service was also great. It was noticeable in 2022 for a restaurant to have such a large amount of staff. The food came out quickly and our waitress was great. We will back soon. read more

Overpriced food. Everything we ate was just ok - nothing amazing. Very poor quality steak... Very fatty (not a good way) and chewy. Nice vibes, cocktails and bread. Nice outdoor seating area. That's about it. Service is 3 out of 5. read more

Average at best. Food was OK, service was fine. Location is odd, their catering service took all the parking.

Had lunch with a friend this week. Loved the salad I had and the French fries shared with my friend. Service was excellent, attentive and relaxed and friendly. We enjoyed being able to eat outside. My family and I chose Eden and, specifically, their airy loft HighGround, for my brother's graduation dinner in Chicago. The space was compelling: white-washed brick highlighted by strategically placed greenery and a large window overlooking elevated train tracks (don't worry, the room is decently sound-proof). The concept is likewise intriguing: seasonal ingredients, either locally sourced or picked fresh from Eden's urban garden, paired exquisitely and presented with flair. Now I'm about as carnivorous as they come, but I've found that the restaurants that really know how to properly prepare fresh produce, herbs, and edible plants/flowers are able to unlock flavors, aromas, and emotions that offer a subtle but worthy alternative to the typical steak or chop. Eden is no different. Not only was each dish well-balanced and satisfying, but also gorgeous in its "foraged" presentation. And don't get me wrong, there is plenty of seafood and meat on the menu; it's just that the vegetables almost always stole the show. Although I realize that few if any of the courses we sampled will be available when you visit given the rapid turnover of available ingredients, to give you a taste of what to expect: we had smoked salmon croquettes with artichoke and black walnuts, an asparagus dish with dried mushrooms, an absolutely exquisite strawberry salad with balsamic vinegar, watermelon, and tomato, then finished with steak served over an earthy vegetable puree with sliced radishes. The dishes used the natural bitterness of plant-based ingredients to great effect. The meat was slightly less rare than I liked, but tasted great all the same. The one flaw in the experience was a pretentious server who made a a few patronizing faces and comments while we were ordering drinks/food, but we were otherwise pleased with our meal from start to finish. read more

Great food, beautiful location, the staff are super fun. My new favorite restaurant in Roscoe Village.!

Time: Reservation for 7:30pm on a Friday (seated at 7:30pm) Ambiance: upscale, casual Good for vegetarians: yes Meal: Roasted baby beets - 3 stars Burrata - 3 stars Pork belly, octopus, & countneck clams - 4 stars (could have been a 5 if we had been given more bread) Ahi & shrimp spaghetti alla Puttanessa - 5 stars Grilled Rohan duck breast - 3.5 stars Wood grilled Skuna Bay salmon - 4 stars Pistachio opera cake - 5 stars Overall experience: We decided to go to this place for restaurant week but ended up ordering food from the main menu. I have to say that the service was amazing, everyone was very attentive, polite, and I never felt like our table was forgotten about. They offered to coat check our coats and our waitress was very friendly! I think overall the food was okay, I genuinely enjoyed the dessert and majority of our table really enjoyed the spaghetti. We initially had ordered a couple glasses of the Malbec and the bottle had gone bad- our waitress was quick to get us new glasses from a fresh bottle. I do have to say that this place is quaint with the decor, but can get very loud. We had a table behind us that made it almost impossible to hear the person I was sitting next to. I highly reccomend trying the pistachio dessert and the spaghetti if you get a chance. read more

Had dinner here with a larger group in one of their private rooms. The food was supper fresh and amazing. I would say their menu is just createive enough to come back more when I am in that part of town. The only complaint was that for a party of 12, the noise level in teh back priate room was too loud and the table too large to hear each other. I'd go back with a smaller group. read more

Best brunch I've had in ages! The avocado toast was perfect, and the pastry were endless. A great spot for a weekend treat.

Eden was phenomenal! Let me list the pros: delicious food, great service, cute decor and ambiance, and best of all..they have a parking lot!! Cons: I couldn't eat everything on the menu.. My sister raved about eden awhile back but I never had the chance to try it until today! I came with my other sister for Sunday brunch and we were impressed. We made reservations ahead of time and when we arrived it was still fairly empty (granted it was only 10:30am). We both ordered the breakfast bowl but I added pork belly to it and she had crab. Man, this dish was sooo good we devoured it. We were literally in and out in 30-45 minutes from start to finish because service was quick and we also eat like starved children. The breakfast bowl had a base of rice and coconut broth layered with kimchi, quinoa, and corn with the pork belly/crab and egg on top. The flavors were on point with the coconut broth adding a nice creamy, tropical base. I love anything with coconut and you can't go wrong with asian fusion dishes. The only thing was the kimchi had a slightly off flavor, it was a bit too sour for my taste (my sister said it tasted like nail polish remover to her haha). Our server was very quick and friendly, nothing to complain about! I can't wait to come back for more brunches and I would also like to try their dinner menu as well! read more

We went to Eden for my fiancé's birthday dinner. Everything from the food to service was impeccable. They had written him a hand written birthday card and gave us free dessert. We got three types of bread with homemade butter and herb infused olive oil. If I could have it shipped to my house, I would.
