During my trip to the Twin Cities, I worked remotely on a Monday. I was trying to use up all my vacation days for 2024 and was short a day to cover my vacation from December 13th to the end of the month. So, I chose Monday to work remotely because, well, why not? For almost a year, I have been using a DoorDash pass for free. It means that I can get meals delivered for free if each order hits a minimum of $15. I decided to do delivery because it feels fancy to me when I'm in a hotel. I did a search on the DoorDash app and found Eddie Cheng Restaurant. It had menu items that appealed to me. What's funny to me was that it was across the street from the hotel. I could have easily placed my order and walked across the street to fetch it. I'm glad that I did delivery. My manager had an urgent task for me to complete on my final workday of 2024. Getting lunch delivered helped me get this task done quickly and efficiently. I ordered the following items: - Wonton soup - Shrimp with lobster sauce on roasted pork fried rice I didn't get any drinks because I had lots in my hotel room. When you go with delivery from this eatery, the restaurant decides if it's going to use its own delivery service or go with a DoorDasher. I had scheduled my food to arrive between 11:30 am and noon. The restaurant's own driver delivered my food. I had instructions to knock and leave the food at my door. This delivery person didn't read the instructions. He knocked on the door and expected me to open the door. I said politely to leave it at the door and I thanked him. He did. The wonton soup was amazing. The broth looked so clean. It was yummy. The wontons were huge and had a lot of filling. I'd order this soup again. It was excellent. The shrimp with lobster sauce on roasted pork fried rice wasn't what I had expected. I am so used to the version that New China does in Rochester with a lot of yummy lobster sauce that this one was different. It was basically a few large shrimp and veggies tossed in lobster sauce and pan-fried. They all were on top of fried rice. It was good. The shrimp and veggies were cooked well. The lobster sauce was salty. The fried rice seemed bland to me on its own, but was fine when I mixed the veggies and shrimp with it. My food came with crispy chow mein. It wasn't yummy. Pass! I got a fortune cookie, which I liked. We'll see if my fortune comes true... haha! It's good Chinese food. I'd get the wonton soup again, but would try something else off the menu. (8) read more

Eddie Cheng restaurants frequently change ownership but keep the same name. lately when I've gotten food here, I have been disappointed. There is not enough sauce and the sauce is too sweet. It used to be garlicky and spicy and 3 times I've order broccoli with hot garlic sauce and it is neither - hot nor garlicky! There are other items that we always used to order that are also not good like the egg fu yung and General Tso's chicken. read more

The only positive thing about this order of food was the fried Dumplings. There was a generous portion (8) and the filling was scrumptious. That's the extent of what I enjoyed. I ordered 58. Hot & Spicy Chicken (medium heat) and it was not at all spicy and mostly onions. There were a few flat pieces of chicken but an overwhelming amount of onions. I ate very little and pitched the rest. The Hot & Sour Soup was neither hot nor sour and had some odd, squishy mushroom? tops floating on it. I found zero tofu and the broth was just bland. The Chicken fried rice was anemic, all a whitish beige with no sign of veg or chicken. I barely tasted it. The Cold Noodles with Sesame Sauce were actually dripping with a thin, slightly peanutty-sesame sauce. It was bland and the consistency of milk. From my first and last experience: Food was terrible and not as ordered. I ordered chicken with cashew extra extra extra spicy. No spice was added, fried rice was supposed to be vegetable friend rice and wasn't and it tasted terrible. Ordered broccoli and beef - beef was undercook and rice tasted terrible. Chicken wings (8) taste was terrible and chicken was double battered and had parts that had that grayish color as if it was sitting out for a whole, Eggroll was mushy on the inside, This was all discovered in less than 10 mins (would have to go back and look at actual time) after Doorsash delivered. I called Eddie Cheng establishment immediately and got no answer. I drive to the location and got there at 9:28 and the place was closed. Sign says they close at 10pm. I called today, a little after noon and was told I should have kept the food to return it, I explained since i immediately went to Taco Bell I wasn't going to keep the food. Credit card company will see this as well. I told him it was tossed in the trash in Richfield at my friend place and I live about 20 mins away in another city. He told me to tell my friend to bring it back even after I told him I trashed it. I have now driven back to my friends place to recover when I for a refund. I will dispute this with the credit card company if not reimbursed for the full amount, DoorDash called at 9:08 for drop off Takes about 3 mins to walk to front of building Called Eddie Cheng at 9:19 Arrived at Eddie Cheng at 9:28 (Eddie Cheng is about a five minute drive from where food was dropped off). Eddie Cheng was closed. Sign says they close at 10pm. When on the phone with unidentified individual he said they close every night at 9:20pm. I suggested they update their website and maybe not take orders 45 mins before closing to allow customers to time to look over purchased items. Basic, good, gets the job done Chinese. Great lunch buffet special with huge potions and better than Panda. Would not recommend eating in as it is very sad and dirty. Ample parking in lot in front! TLDR: Big portions, good value, decent flavor. read more

This was very disappointing after reading better reviews by some elites . The fried rice was extremely bland . Thankfully the rice was cooked well . The beef short ribs were chewy and flavorless. Definitely wouldn't recommend them at all . The egg rolls had little filling and could even tell what was in them . Lastly the crab Rangoon were just cream cheese filled at best. I wish we woulda just stopped at Perkins down the street . I won't return . I'll add watching the cook carry out fryer grease out the front door while waiting for my order was a huge turnoff . read more

I have never been to Eddie Cheng Richfield restaurant until last night. I could not believe what I was seeing. The restaurant was disgusting. It appears it had not been cleaned in months. There was litter on the filthy floors, a disarray of many boxes of soda in the dining room, The kitchen, which is visible from the cash register, looked even worse than the dining room. I ordered a simple dish and told them I was going to eat in the restaurant. They brought my food in a to-go bag. When I told them I was eating in the restaurant, they brought a Styrofoam plate without utensils. The very small plastic forks were near the garbage can. When I asked for a cup of water, it was very warm. When I was finished, I brought my plate to the trash can that had a swing opening. It looked like it had never been washed - EVER! I had to use several napkins so I wouldn't touch it. The state needs to survey this restaurant. It would never pass an inspection. read more

Make sure when you call to place a take out order. That you tell whoever your ordering with to REPEAT THE ORDER BACK TO YOU. I did not order any chicken wings just crab ragoons and Mongolian beef chow mein and I get charged for a order of chicken wings that I did not even agree to place. I know mistakes happen but this was just annoying. read more

We ordered through door dash and the food was still hot! The food was also delicious. My favorite was the house special lo mein noodles. My only dislike was the fried rice. It had a weird plastic taste that never went away. Get the white rice instead. This would pair well with any chicken dish. If you're going for chicken, the sesame had great flavor and crunch. I liked that it wasn't drowning in sauce but it also wasn't dry. Huge portions that will result in some tasty Chinese left-overs. read more

We ordered delivery, and one of the three entrees we ordered was missing, portions we did get were small and had very little meat, and the actual price was higher than originally shown on the order ("price increased from the time you made selections"). Amazing! This restaurant is great for families. The personnel was welcoming, and the restaurant was spotless. The generous servings that they provide here are one of my favorite features. Me and my husband were there yesterday and were not impressed with anything. We have previously gone there and service was ehh yet food was good. Not this time! The food didnt taste as good as normal and the restaurant itself was not clean, the bathrooms were disgusting, the ladies room toilet seat wasn't even connected to the toilet and there were no paper towels in either the women's or men's bathroom and when we told one of the employees, he didn't even care, he said "use the napkins" (OK, but i had to open your nasty bathroom door with no tissue after washing my hands and all they do it point to the little napkins SMH). That same employee was eating at one the tables and when he was done eating he went straight to helping another employee make wontons - DIDNT WASH HIS HANDS OR NOTHING!! Very good Chinese food for the price. Two dishes and a few wontons/egg rolls and there was enough food for four people. We've never been to this restaurant before and we were looking for some take-away food for Super Bowl Sunday. We had garlic shrimp, egg rolls, "Chef's Special Chicken", wontons and soup. All very good except the hot/sour soup wasn't super hot and a little bland. We will go back for take-away food. The restaurant wasn't super inviting or comfortable. Finally a Chinese restaurant that comes close to CO and CA quality and flavor. Had lunch via take out, ordered egg rolls, wonton soup, chicken fried, chicken lo mein, and Mongolian beef. The egg rolls were crispy with a balance of filling. The wontons in the soup were huge but much better than those tiny ones you see in most places. The chicken fried rice was a hit with my kiddo with the exception of a bit heavy on the onion but she still had two helpings. The chicken lo mein was delicious other than my wife having to pick out mushrooms but half expected as it is 50/50 on places that include mushrooms in their lo mein. Both chicken dishes were white meat which is awesome. The Mongolian beef was like no other I've had, good size beef pieces and a sauce that has a bit of spice. While not near my house this is definitely where we'll have to get our Chinese food from going forward. read more

Got delivery through DoorDash. Some of the best Chinese takeout I've gotten in the Cities. I got a full order of sesame chicken with "plain" low mein, an egg roll, and a 8ct of the crab ragoons. A lot of Chinese food places around the cities have their sesame chicken as spicy so I've been avoiding it, but it didn't show as spicy for this restaurant and it tasted just like I expected - battered chicken covered in a sweet and tart sauce with sesame seeds. The low mein was great with it too. The crab ragoons had a strong green onion flavour but were taste and pretty large. It came with a huge tub of red sweet and sour sauce which was a little too much but the sauce was good. The egg roll was really tasty but super small compared to other places I've tried around town - for over a dollar, I expected bigger in size. read more

The meat was extremely gamey and was not enjoyable to eat. The trash had a good meal though. :( The fried rice tasted like it was made days before and warmed up. The kicker? Surprise, this place isn't wearing masks while cooking your food! Ick! So sad because I've heard good things about this place. Wonderful food and great service! Our go to Chinese place. If you have an issue with your food, they will make it right. That has only happened once. Friendly staff and quick to the point. Best Chinese food around! We get this every time we are in the area and I even stop on my way home from the airport.

Our go-to for Chinese. The food is always good. We typically get the beef lo mein, pork fried rice, sesame chicken, egg foo young, crab Rangoon, and egg rolls. Their crab Rangoon is by far the best I've had from any Chinese restaurant. All portions are huge and will feed you for days! The staff are very friendly and quick. If you're looking for "standard" Chinese food, this is the place! Don't expect fancy, super authentic from here. You'll be disappointed. My favorite place to get takeout is the Eddie cheng's in Richfield! Always fast and polite service and delicious food. I recommend the garlic shrimp if you like lots of veggies and a little kick. The veggies are so fresh they still have a little crunch to them which I love. We have always been impressed by the food we have gotten here, and the portions are huge (2-3 meals for me). He should not be dealing with your guest. We just want our money back from the food we sent back cold and stale. He kept putting his hands on my door trying to push it open. My go to Chinese place! The food has great flavor, you get a great portion, and the meat is very tender and delicious.

First time trying Eddie Cheng, and used delivery. Delivery was close to delivery time, and courteous driver waited for me to accept. Forgotten soup, but called restaurant and they will discount my next order. Cheese wontons, super crispy (how I like them), not greasy. Egg rolls, little but okay. Kung Pao chicken, ordered med heat, very good. Egg foo young large patties, much veges, brown gravy a bit sweet but good. Sesame chicken very good. I ordered Eddie Cheng for delivery last night and was so impressed that I am still thinking about that dinner ! I am a regular take out fan of this restaurant , but am taking social distancing seriously and do not go out unless an emergency . I discovered that that Eddie Cheng now does delivery in a defined area for very reasonable price (less.than I'd spend on gas driving. there! Since we are in the midst of Covid crisis, I was concerned about delivery process. The delivery man did exactly as I asked-food left in specific area. All containers were carefully placed inside leak free containers. , wrapped in paper bags and carefully assembled inside large plastic bag. Driver arrived wearing mask. Food was.delivered.promptly, steaming hot and oh so delicious. Oh and they have coupons for Eddie Cheng in the 'beyond menu' app -yesterdays coupon free order of cheesy wontons! yum! read more
