I used to love the service team at Ed Martin. The last two oil changes have me scratching my head. Yesterday I took my 2018 pathfinder in for oil change. 2 hours later they say it's ready and go over upcoming routine maintenance. I leave and about 2 miles down the road I hear an awful clanking sound under the hood like something is falling. I'm driving 55mph and the mechanics tools are falling from the engine bay off the road and bouncing up underneath my car. Six months prior I get a few miles down the road from leaving there and notice the car sounds funny and is accelerating oddly. I check under the hood and see where they left my air filter cover detached. Ironically a coworker I referred to them had identical issue happen to her. Below is a clear timeline of events, the problems encountered, the actions I have taken. ## Vehicle and purchase details - **Vehicle:** 2019 Nissan Altima - **Purchase date:** August 27, 2022 - **Mileage at purchase:** 22,000 miles - **Current mileage:** 33,525 miles - **Dealer:** Ed Martin Nissan, Shadeland Ave First Issue: - **Financing:** I had existing approval from Capital One and requested the dealer not to run my credit; my request was ignored and multiple credit inquiries were made that day. ## Timeline of issues and service history - Within approximately six months after purchase of my car the door locks failed; a private mechanic confirmed three door lock actuators required replacement. - Removing the driver's side floor mat revealed a hole in the floorboard exposing the ground. - When my daughter started driving my car for work, the vehicle repeatedly stalled and would not restart. - Battery replacement and a rear fuel pump replacement were performed (approximately two weeks after first breakdown) March 22,25. Mind you car barley driven from 22/2025. - The vehicle continued to stall; I brought it to Ed Martin Nissan in March. DO NOT TRUST THIS DEALER I purchased a vehicle in January 24'. Two weeks after purchasing, we began experiencing noise from the belts. After taking it in to get serviced, the mechanic discovered that someone had broken a bolt that holds the tensioner pulley off into the motor, drilled it out, filled the hole with JB weld, and then put a bolt back in. This was used to hold our entire pulley/belt system together. Of course, the JB weld gave out and our entire system shifted out of place and began grinding together. The car has been sitting for over 3 months as it cannot be safely driven. I am so thankful the entire system didn't fall apart while driving with my kids. I contacted the dealer after seeking legal consultation and requested that they purchase the vehicle back at my principal balance, which would still put me out thousands of dollars. Although this is the most ETHICAL thing to do as it was sold to me in an EXTREMELY unsafe condition and could have caused bodily harm had we not found the problem so quickly, I was told they were not willing to agree to any arrangements to mend the situation. The last 4 months have been extremely devastating to myself and my family. The lack of integrity, customer service and overall compassion for a human being after making a terrible business transaction at this dealership is disgraceful. When the issue first was discovered I was given the option to put a rebuilt engine with 60,000 miles into my vehicle with 40,000 miles for an estimated $6,000 part cost plus labor and cost to have the vehicle towed to the dealership. Perhaps an audit into the inspection process is appropriate at this time. Regardless, the vehicle was sold to me in an unsafe driving condition. After doing my due diligence in seeing if the vehicle was salvageable, and coming to the conclusion that it is not, I was promptly told the dealership was not willing to assist in the matter under any circumstances. I'm not sure what additional calls to the dealer would have accomplished, which is why my honest review of the poor customer service has officially been published. I have spent months trying to work through this situation. While Ed Martin told me in a two minute phone call that they weren't interested in mending the situation in any way shape or form despite my flexibility and ongoing patience in the situation. First off I hated my car I wanted a hybrid they claimed it was a hybrid and after a few months my payments would be less but they lied. I am paying over $450 when I should be paying around $300 per month. A few months ago the transmission went out and they did replaced it or at least that what they said. YES, I am referring to the Ed Martin Nissan on N Shadeland. I purchased my car in 2017 and took it to the body shop in 2021.9 First of all, buying my car there was the WORST car buying experience I have ever had! They kept me there for over 4 hours while they took my car to the back and refused to return it to me. The selling tactics were ruthless and totally unethical, so much so that my salesman quit the next day from all the lies they forced him to tell me. By the end I was so tired and hungry I would have agreed to anything to get them to let me go. Then, a few days later, they let someone take my trade-in car for a test drive without cleaning it out first and the man found my address in the glove compartment and drove to MY HOUSE to ask me questions about it. Then, my car was in an accident and I made the horrible mistake of thinking the dealership would be the best place for repairs, and boy, was I wrong! After keeping my car for 4 months (yes, there were supply chain issues, but many unnecessary delays were due to their incompetence) they gave my car back to me looking like a mess! The "new" grill was totally misshapen, and when I asked about it they said "Well, that's how it came to us." Any reputable business would have sent it back immediately for a replacement, but not Ed Martin, they just tried to pass it off on me. I had to request that they send it back for a new one. The hood of the car was not setting correctly, with one side higher than the other and the spacing around the edges was way off. They just said "Sorry, that was the best we could do." REALLY?!?? To make matters worse, I spoke to the general manager who had the audacity to say "People always think we can put their car back together like new, but that's not always true." SO EVEN THE DEALERSHIP CAN'T FIX A CAR PURCHASED FROM THEM??? Needless to say, my insurance company took a look, and found that they totally left off a weatherstripping piece on one side and failed to fix a sprung hinge, so I will be getting it PROPERLY fixed at a reputable shop. I sure wish I could give them negative stars. Unethical, dishonest, incompetent and disrespectful. AVOID THIS DEALERSHIP AT ALL COST! EDIT: YES, this is the dealership I purchased my car from in 2017 and took it to the body shop in 2021. UPDATE: The current GM contacted me to apologize for the awful experience I had. So I was going to take the vehicle back however a customer service representative called me to check on my experience! I told her that I've always have a great experience however there's still noise when turning the corners so we schedule a time to bring the car back in on Thursday! I then take it there on Wednesday evening just to drop it off because I wouldn't be able to drop it off the next morning! Not real impressed with their service department. My truck that has 13,000 miles smells like it's burning oil due to their tech spilling oil all over the top side of my engine. I get it, accidents happen, except for that fact that he didn't even try to clean it. Just threw the engine cover back on and let me find it when I smelled the smoke 20 minutes later. I just bought a Nissan from Capital City Ford. Yes ik a Nissan at a ford dealership. Anyways. When I bought the car it had a dash light. It comes on stating i-key system error. The guy at ford place said take it to Nissan they can reset the system. Cool beans went to Nissan. I found a mechanic named PJ. He took my key checked over the error code and told me to go get a new battery. Walks me up to the desk told the guy what I needed. Got a new battery went back to my car to test everything back out and that didn't work. I went back in talked to the guy that replaced the battery, he didn't know too much but PJ saw me again and helped out some more. He than ran a little test to see what was causing the code. I had purchased a 2020 Rogue Sport S AWD in December 2020, and although I liked the car I really didn't love it. (I had recently moved from Noblesville to Elwood and was a little skittish about how bad driving around town would be with my 2018 Kicks since it was FWD. Well, suffice to say that although the Sport was equipped with AWD, it just didn't "fit" me. I missed my small car. After having gone through 2 pretty horrendous winters here, I realized that the city does a pretty good job keeping up with the nasty white stuff and I drive mostly in town so I truly panicked unnecessarily. Today Bruce was fully capable and did a great job getting me back home into a car I truly love and enjoy driving. It was well worth the long drive to see him and get this all resolved. Purchased a 2002 Trans Am and was told the car was in excellent condition. Had it shipped to Texas. Upon receiving the car, I noticed several shades of yellow and confirmed that the car had been wrecked but not on Carfax. To add insult to injury, it was a manual shift car and the shifter knob came off whiles I was driving the car to park after taking delivery, almost causing me to wreck. My salesman and management there were not cooperative. After retaining an attorney, they agreed to take the car back but I had to pay a cancellation fee, along with roundtrip shipping. I incurred $2,000 in out of pocket costs when it was all said and done. It took several call and emails before they would respond. Never trust a car salesman. read more

I hate to do this, but I am having to change my review for this dealership. I have been battling a credit dispute due to their finance team not paying off my trade until it was 30 days past due and hit my credit report. My credit dropped about 100 points due to this. Despite reminding their team almost weekly to send in the payment, it took them months to do so. I have received a letter from them which they sent to the Kia Finance, but I am still waiting on this to clear up after months. I have wasted hours of my time on this, and don't feel they have put the emphasis to resolve this dispute which seems appropriate considering their mistake. Once this is resolved, I'll likely change my review. But I expected them to be all over this and instead I feel that I have been forgotten and in their mind the job is done. This is something that may end up costing me a large amount of money if I do end up having this on my credit with no resolution soon. I was very happy when I drove off the lot, however, they failed to complete the transaction and now I am highly disappointed. Took my five year old Nissan Altima that I bought new from ed martin here after being rear ended. Worse decision of my life! Thought they could match the Factory pearl paint because they are the dealership, not the case. Went to pick up the car and the color wasn't even close and there was a big glob of bondo on my door. I didn't accept the car that Thursday, Friday the very next day they called to tell me it was done again. Went to look at the car and now it was three colors. They repainted the bumper and nothing else. And where the spot of bondo was looked terrible like they had to sand through my paint to get it off. The manager Scott took Zero responsibility throughout entire process, he kept pointing the finger at the insurance company. The insurance co. didn't paint my new custom rainbow white car. I bought my car new from ed martin Nissan and will never do any business with them ever again. Bottom line is that they want to get every car and person in and out as quickly as possible regardless of quality or satisfaction. Bring your car here be prepared to have Problems. When we picked up the car it had a bad wheel bearing after being in the shop. They said that wasn't from being dropped hard on a jack and in fact they hadn't even jacked the car up. Seems odd they were able to pull my frame change my bumper tail lights and all without lifting the car. I was contacted today by Ed Martin Nissan salesperson this morning that a 2011 Ford Ranger I was interested in just came down in price. I immediately went down to the sales lot and learned that the truck was on the lift being worked on. I checked back later that day and was told it was still being worked on but that Mason the sales manager would notify me if it was done before 6 pm that day so I could come back. I got a call from Mason later that day. But just to let me know the truck had already been sold. He did not give me the courtesy of a call to give me a chance to make an offer. This was after I clearly showed my interest by visiting the lot for the second time for the Ranger, and by checking back by phone. I also let Mason know I had the funds to pay by cashier's check immediately. The person who bought the Ranger just happened to be on the lot when the Ranger became available. So it's not like seller had any prior commitment to this buyer. Especially in this climate when small trucks in good condition are so hard to find, this way of handling the sale by Mason was really disappointing. On Monday I signed for a lease on a new Nissan Rogue SL. I had inquired online first and Matt reached out to me to answer questions I had. I was able to give him my financial information in advance and he gave me a printout with the options I could choose for a lease. Doing it this way was so enjoyable. In the past I have sat at the dealership while I wait to find out about financing. This was completely stress-free after taking care of that aspect first. This was my first time to this Nissan location. The dealership was very clean, inviting, offered complimentary beverages, and everyone was very friendly. Matt greeted me and my husband at the door and introduced us to Jordan, who would be helping us choose a vehicle. Jordan was very knowledgeable, demonstrated the features of the vehicle for me but was not too drawn out with his explanations. He answered my questions concisely and didn't waste time "feature dumping," which I really appreciate. He showed us a few different vehicles and pointed out their differences even though they were the same model. After we signed our paperwork, he helped answer more of my questions I came up with and even offered to help me with the technology inside the car and setting that up. The transmission went out in my 2007 Nissan Altima as soon as I got over the 100k mile mark. I called several mechanics for price quotes, including the Nissan dealership on 96th street. Not one bothered to check if my transmission was still under warranty, but they quoted me prices between $3500-$5000. I called Ed Martin Nissan and spoke with P.J., one of the managers. He was very friendly and professional. He looked up my VIN and saw that the transmission was under warranty to 120k miles. He gave me the number to a towing company and I brought the car in for a diagnostic. Two days later, I had my car back, with a new transmission installed! I could not have asked for better service. I expected a warranty repair to be pushed behind others who were paying. They were great! I highly recommend them. read more

Our Sentra's transmission failed en route to Dayton, Ohio from our home in Chicago in late April. The nearest dealer was Ed Martin. Literally rolled into the service department (since transmission was failing) around 1pm on a Friday - obviously no appointment. Robin Jeffries greeted me and took care of my situation as if I had an appointment (and as if I was a long-time customer). Within one hour she had me on my way to Dayton with a loaner (covered by the extended warranty which Ed Martin honored). Robin called three times during the week the car was in service, providing status updates and confirming completion, along with total cost (again, thank you extended warranty). I returned the following Saturday to pick up our Sentra. On my drive back to Chicago, Robin called with news that she calculated the bill incorrectly, and was refunding a certain amount. She apologized for the inconvenience - and the receipt arrived a few days later. After a month the Sentra runs perfect. Since we live in Chicago I can't say I'm returning - but if I lived in the area, Ed Martin would be my place for service - with Robin helping along the way. read more

DON'T GO THERE!!! I would give negative stars if I could. I wouldn't buy a car from them ever. Mason the manager and Eric the salesman were extremely rude. Went to look at a 2008 Toyota Camry with over 218,000 miles on it. They wanted $4000 Through text I offered $2500, they said $3800 then I countered with $3200. They agreed to that amount. I said that I need to see it in person. I Test drove it and it shook, used the brakes and it shook came to a stop and it almost cut off. The right fender was dented and chipped and rusted. The hood had rust pits all over it. The trunk had rust on the inside. I started mentioning these things to Eric and he says well it's a 12 year old car you'll have that with a crappy attitude. He's says well it's an as is car so there you have it. Then says are you wanting to look at something else or are you gonna keep beating me up about my car. He was very unprofessional and so was Mason. I asked Mason if he allowed his salesman to be rude to customers. He said that he was simply stating that it's a 12 year old car.
