James needs some accolades because his customer service is amazing. I drive almost half an hour away when there are much closer kia dealerships near me because of the service. He actually cares and it shows. I'm also in hospitality and in the service industry the little things that cost you NOTHING means much more. I still remember the nice personal notecard he left in my car that was handwritten thanking me with a piece of candy taped to it. The fact he took a minute to do a handwritten notecard means he put thought into it and appreciated me. This means so much to me. Yes it sometimes takes a long time for my car to get serviced but you can Uber to a nearby restaurant or just stay in the lobby and spread out to get some work done or watch tv. And ... if you are lucky there may be some fresh baked chocolate chip or snickerdoodle cookies complimentary to indulge in! read more

IT WAS WORSE THAN WHEN I DROPPED IT OFF!! I took my car in for a SIMPLE MAINTENANCE service. With NO ISSUES. When I got my car back: PSI on my tires were 25,32,47 30 2 tire valve caps were missing My windshield wipers were taken off and replaced with cheap ones My car was pulling hard to the left after my paid "wheel alignment" Lastly, unknown noises coming from the vents upon starting the car. These are SIMPLE TASKS. If this department can not preform this correctly I would not trust them with anything major. Very Disappointed! read more

Added a "mandatory security fee" of $299 onto their price sheet. A 100% BS fee. IF IT'S TAXABLE, IT'S NEGOTIABLE! Do not add crap fees to eek out every cent! It ALIENATES the buyer. This is actually for a friend of mine who bought a used Soul a couple of years ago that has ended up burning a lot of oil. She was told that, after several tests on the pistons, after driving 1000 miles in between each test, four times, that she would then get a new engine if the car continued to show dysfunction. She has done that and now they are taking back what they said they would do. Basically, they lied to her! This is THEIR responsibility and they should be getting Kia on board because the car has been faulty since she bought it. I know that lying has become a part of our culture, but this is not OK and we do not want this to be part of it. Kia and Kia West need to do the right thing and replace this person's engine now! my car was vandalized while in the hands on this lot! my car was originally there for an engine repai! I was insured tha my car would be fixed being that it was not my fault! once fixed I found out they falsely place a claim under my insurance without my knowing! (fraud) they held my car hostage for days, cancelled my rental loaner car and was threatened to have my car place with a lean! this was the most stressful, painful, and horrific experience I've ever experienced! I purchased a 2011 Kia Soul at the end of 2010. I got what I thought was a great deal on my trade a 2005 Chevy Cavalier. Only a couple hiccups. One: The two banks they got financing thru were the two banks I would not do business with. So I got a loan thru my own bank. Two: I thought the financial guy was arrogant. My 2011 Soul was a 5 speed manual I loved it but, I have started having issues with my left hip making shifting an issue and sometimes painful. I did some research on line KellyBB on my cars worth and new Kia prices for an automatic. Went to my bank and got pre-approved for a loan etc. Just for giggles I drove around the lot watching the salesmen's hopes rise and fall and rise again. In the end we ended up talking with Ryan ( salesman) and Quinton ( product specialist ). I had the price and info on the Soul I wanted to look at and I knew the rebates I should be getting. I got the high end of KBB for my trade $2000 rebate and Ryan called to remind me about the free TV I totally forgot about. In the end new car with auto transmission, and Kia finance beat my banks rate and Ryan lost his iPhone cable. The 5 star rating of Loved it may be a bit strong but the 4 star of Liked it didn't fit either. the paperwork is just stupid. I love having a new car I don't have to shift. read more

While i was waiting I was informed about a recall and asked if I would like to wait or schedule for another time. I was happy to be asked as I've had issues before when other dealerships never asked and just made me wait. The waiting area was clean and comfortable. They have various hot drinks, freshly baked cookies, and vending available. Each staff member we saw or interacted with was polite and even stopped to talk to my toddler. Overall, I was very pleased with my experience. To make it all better my car was washed and vacuumed! This may be standard, but certainly wasn't expected. read more

I purchased a used Kia online and have had it consistently serviced here. The service center staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. They never upsell me and simply do the required service. Their prices are better than Firestone for standard service like an oil change. They are always fast with an appointment and their waiting room is very comfortable with free drinks and snacks. Everyone seems to think that I buy cars at the spur of the moment because one day I'm tooling around town in one car, and the next I've got something new. Truth is, I research the hell out of cars that I want, narrowing it down to just a few, and then make my move when the time is right. I went to Ray Skillman Kia because I knew I wanted a Kia Optima, and I had a positive buying experience a few years back with my Mazda CX-7. I knew I would get a fair deal, not be hassled to death by pushy salesmen, and have a decent selection to work through. Oh yeah, and they have cookies in the lounge (if the salesmen haven't eaten them all). My correspondence began online, as it always does with my car buying experience. I lay out my expectations: I want to know that they have what I'm looking for (and trust me, I'm specific), that I'm not going to spend a lot of time in the dealership, and that as much has been done that is possible online. I kind of felt like I was duped by the Internet Sales department this time though. I worked with one of them, whom I believe didn't really exist, but was one of the Managers or another salesman saying whatever they could to get me in the dealership. I thought I was further along in the process when I agreed to stop in "for a hour or so" to meet with the Manager and get an appraisal on my trade. Instead, the manager immediately turned me over to one of the salespeople on the floor and I began the process from scratch. This ended up working, but it wasn't what I expected. The overall experience with Andrew, my salesperson, was extremely positive. I left in a new Kia Optima, which is exactly what I wanted, and they made it happen. This was truly a positive experience. My rating is based partially on my perception of the Internet Sales department either being completely fake or existing not to provide customer service but simply to bring people into the dealership. read more

This review is only for the dealership, not the vehicle (dealers have no control over the quality of the vehicles). My experience at Ray Skillman Kia West has been nothing short of stellar. From the point of sale to service this dealer is to-notch. The purchase experience was very low-key, without the good cop bad cop nonsense and without to much of the"I need to clear this with my manager" stuff. I was given a fair value on my trade-in and was able to get a lot of options/accessories thrown-in as well. I also have no complaints about the service department either. Appointments are easy to schedule and repairs don't take too long. Of course I can't speak of the fairness of their labor rates because everything has been addressed under warranty of course. The customer lounge is nothing spectacular, but more than adequate. It's absolutely spotless and all the basic necessities are there: free Wi-Fi, TV, comfortable chairs/couches, coffee, tea, vending machines, power outlets, workspaces, and if you're lucky--fresh baked chocolate-chip cookies. read more

I took my car in after having issues with it starting. I dropped it off overnight and received a call early the next morning to let me know they had issues starting it and were trying to figure out the problem. Later that afternoon I received a call letting me know what the issue was and that it was fixed and my car was ready to be picked up. Communication was great and service was fast! When looking for a new car for my wife the sales team here is kind of what you expect. They will tell you anything but when you ask about something specific about the car they seem lost. Service here does not accept the coupon that Yelp gives you so a heads up. They only use full synthetic oil. read more

I really loved this place, the car buying experience was as good as it could be. We have brought our vehicle in for maintenance and did the 30,000 maintenance recommendation. They were supposed to top off all fluids, but low and behold my wiper fluid light came on after a week of getting out of the shop. I don't use wiper fluid often and I had just added some on my own about 1 month before. I took pictures to show that they did not top it off at all. It bums me out that I have to mention this, we spent $300 on that, so I'm a bit disappointed. We will be back, but you can guarantee that we will be checking under the hood before we leave. IF YOU DID NOT PURCHASE A VEHICLE FROM HERE YOUR BUSINESS AT THE SERVICE SHOP ISN'T WANTED!! This was usually my go to dealership for service on any of my vehicles up until now. I set up an appointment for my vehicle to get diagnostic test completed which they stated it would be appx 2 weeks late "due to Covid". I tried to be understanding of that and when the actual appointment date arrived I received no call regarding my vehicle that again had been at the location for multiple weeks. I call service center @ 1pm to get an update on repair(s) needed. Service advisor stated the technician was to diagnose vehicle after his/her lunch and I would receive a call back regarding vehicle... Well, I will assume the technician never showed back up for lunch because I never received a call back regarding vehicle. I get off work and realized I never got a call back so I called the dealership. I got transferred at least 3 times explaining the situation and how I was seeking any information on vehicle that has been there for 2 weeks already just sitting. Finance, sales/leasing and reception quoted that service was now closed and imagine my frustration as I called earlier for an update & absolutely nothing not even a call back to say we still have not looked at it. It became a situation of phone tag & not it as each person is sitting on the phone but not helping since it was close to closing time so they could care less about the situation I'm dealing with. Last person stated I was yelling even though I was not and hung up while waiting was speaking. Management, finance and sales team are extremely rude. I was informed by the sales/ leasing consultant " you don't appear to have purchased a vehicle from our dealership so there's nothing I can do". Which aggravated me more as I have been bringing my vehicles for service and never known that they treat you like crap if you didn't buy a vehicle from their dealership. I will definitely be getting all my vehicles serviced at a place with better communication, professionalism and customer service. Sad that he stated he was as cooperate as I was going to get with my complaint of lack of communication of vehicle being serviced. Skip to pick up. The mechanic removed half a tank of fuel to replace fuel pump and they gave it back on E!!!! I asked service advisor Nick why fuel wasn't replaced he stated they didn't remove fuel to replace pump... I would definitely not recommend... If you didn't purchase a vehicle from there to not get it serviced there because your business isn't welcomed... words of Sales management.... I came in for an oil change and it included tire rotation with I did not get because they said I didn't need it at the time. I have used Ray Skillman Kia West twice in the past month for service. They have been absolutely wonderful on both occasions. The first time, I had a flat tire. They were able to get me in to service my vehicle that same day. I was fully expecting to have to purchase new tires, but they were able to patch it and save me the expense, letting me know I had a few more months left on them. I really appreciate them being so honest and not trying to sell me on something I didn't need. Unfortunately, I got another flat (not the same tire). Yay, Indiana roads! Not only was Lyndsay able to squeeze me in the next day, but Brad in parts got me a really good deal on new tires. They even sent an employee to my job to pick up my car and leave me a rental!!! On December 18th 2020, I took my car in for a problem that consisted of a burning smell. It had been making the smell on and off for over a month. I decided to wait there while they were working on my car. When I pulled into the bay. I told the guy what it was doing and went in to sit. Before I could get settled into my seat the guy asked me to come back out into the garage area. I went out and he had popped the hood and pulled a big cover thing off and there was some oil sitting on top of it. I asked him what would cause this issue as my car only has about 62,000 miles on it. I've only taken my car to this same dealer to have all work / oil changes etc done. The guy said that either it was from someone over filling the oil or from usage of the car. I had my oil changed just with in the last month or 2 there at that same dealer. I told him I've only brought my car into this same service department the entire time I've owned my car. I've been the only owner of the car. He shrugged his shoulders and didn't have anything else to say. He said he would get me a price to fix the problem. An hour later he came back with price of $455.47. Are you kidding me? This could've been your establishments mistake and I have to pay this price? Seriously!!!!!!! Well I need my car to get back and forth to work and to take care of my child. I asked how much longer it would take. About a hour and half he said. I waited over 2 hours more and wasn't very happy with the way this was handled. I WILL not be taking my car back to this Kia dealer. I will drive out of my way to another Kia dealer from now on. The guy that was helping me at the start wasn't very pleasant. They have offered absolutely no help at all whatsoever in helping remedy the situation and what they did offer was insulting(they helped me by telling me it was my fault.) I have been to about 7 dealerships in my lifetime and this is the only one I would ever return to. Past dealerships treated me as if I were ignorant because of my gender, but not Ray Skillman! I traded in my 2012 Kia Soul for a brand new 2017 Kia Niro and I cannot express how happy I am with the experience. My salesman was named Solar and he's a pretty sweet BMX rider. He was the most honest and genuine salesman I have ever met, versus the typical salesman with a s***eating grin. He let me test drive and answered all of my related questions before we ever spoke about $ or trade-in, meaning he spent about an hr doing all of this without even knowing if I was soley looking. Although I am paying a little more each month than I was hoping, I had the option of paying lower. The warranties are what bumped up my payments, but honestly, a new car that relies so heavily on technology is not something I want to risk. All in all, I would recommend this dealership to anyone looking to be treated with respect. read more

The salesman, although apparently a Skillman high seller award winner, had a lot of trouble answering the questions I asked. He answered, but just not the specific question I asked. For example, I asked on a used Kia Soul what options other than the standard equipment was on a particular vehicle. He started going through all the standard equipment. When I pointed that out he agreed it was all standard. When I asked the question again the just said all this comes standard in this model. I gave up at that point. This is just one example. I gave up asking him any questions and pulled out my iPad to do my own research. You can find out just about anything on any car on the Skillman lot on line. When we were looking new Soles, I asked about the Exclaim model and his response was they there were expensive - they could run up to $30k - like I couldn't afford a $30k car. I had already told him, in response to his question of how much I was looking to spend and if I was going to finance all or part, that I was looking for "bang for the buck" and my financing decision would be based on the interest rate (which he kept telling me was based on my credit which he was sure "you know" and "is fine" - like I didn't know how credit scores operate). He did finally check to see if there was an Exclaim model available, but the only one left had been sold that day. (Maybe it had, maybe it hadn't, but they didn't have one so it didn't really matter at that point.) Once we decided on a vehicle, and I told him what I was willing to pay for it and why (I had done my research). After a bit of back and forth, I finally just told him my bottom line - if you can get me this car for $XXX plus sales tax and no other mickey mouse fees, I'll buy the car today. At that point he took my offer to a sales manager without question. The manager I dealt with was excellent. He was curious about how I came up with the offer I made (as the sales person could explain - no surprise). I explained, and even showed him the website I used. He got it quickly. He went to his office to see if he could make my offer work and came back a couple of times with questions which were easily answered. When he came back the third time, there were a couple additional costs that he thoroughly explained. They made perfect sense and totaled about $235. The deal was struck, and after a bit too long of a wait, we met with the finance person, signed the papers, and were on our way. Would I go back? Yes. But I'd ask for the sales manager I worked with and tell him what I wanted in a sales person so he could arrange for someone other than just whoever happened to walk up to me when I drove in. read more
