The paperwork part wasn't too bad and didn't take too long. Our car sales man's name was Michael White and he was helpful. While waiting for the paperwork for the purchase to be completed, I learned about the business. It's family owned, started in 1950s by Ed Martin. It was bought by his daughter Kathy, and she and her husband, Mark, still own it. They have 10 locations in Indiana. I'd never seen anything like it, I was amazed. I loved the package deal they offer. Our purchase came with gap insurance, glass coat for protection of the vehicle, and lifetime warranty on the engine. Having a lifetime warranty on the engine is amazing. Inside was clean. Extremely frustrating experience with Ed Martin GMC Buick of Carmel. I drove 45 minutes to look at a Nissan Murano, test drove it, and decided to move forward. The salesperson instructed me to go to my bank, get a check, and send a photo so they could start processing and have the car ready when I returned. After another 45-minute drive, completing paperwork, and sending the check as instructed, I was on my way back when I received a call that the car had been sold by another salesperson. What makes this more concerning is that while I was at the bank trying to reach my salesperson, I was told he was out on a test drive with another customer. Shortly after, I was informed the car had been "sold." The timing raises serious concerns about how this was handled and gives the impression that my deal may have been set aside in favor of a more profitable one. Hours wasted, multiple trips, and no accountability. Very disappointing experience and poor communication. I would strongly suggest steering clear of this dealership. This experience showed a clear lack of integrity and respect for customers' time, and reflected poorly on the professionalism of the sales team. read more

So after a week of watching YouTube videos and checking the owners manual I decided I was going to buy a OEM key fob for my 2018 GMC Yukon Denali and self program using gmc's self programming mode. Went to parts to just buy fob because I knew after previously checking they had them in stock. The girl at the desk was extremely rude and acted like I was an absolute idiot thinking I could do that myself. Said there's no way and that their dealership HAD to do it. Went on to try and scare me saying "you do understand the key is non-refundable when this doesn't work". After following the manual, it worked fine, took me 30 minutes, saved literally $300 dollars in labor they wanted to charge me. Either they want service money so bad they will try and make you feel stupid, or they really don't think you can self program a key fob for that year and model even though it's in the OWNERS MANUAL. Both those things are bad for a dealership. Just be careful and trust your gut sometimes. read more

We've bought 3 Brand New trucks and one used car from this dealership. We were told to contact GM Directly by everyone we know. We are sure there is a solution to this situation and we need everyone's input and professional opinions to assist us for a happy ending. We are hoping this review will help move the process along. Even though we live on the Westside of Indianapolis, we always bought from you and have always been loyal and considered ourselves as family. Here's the situation, We have a 2024 GMC SIERRA 6.6 Liter diesel, 22,300 miles at the time. Our truck had 900 miles to go before oil change. On June 11th, 2025 We noticed a warning came up on the dash, low oil , called the Dealership, told to bring it in. Only this dealership has ever serviced all my vehicles. Dealership found there was oil in the coolant over flow, was diagnosed as faulty oil cooler. I went to pick up my truck on July 3rd, 2025, again there was oil in the coolant over flow, they agreed to keep truck there and correct any remaining issues. I picked up my truck on July 15th, 2025, the service manager, Adrienne wanted to go over the truck with me to insure all repairs had been properly taken care off. Again, I found the oil was 1/2 to 1 quart low on oil, I checked it In front of Adrienne, she called Greg, the shop foreman who confirmed oil was low. Greg topped off the oil, I drove our truck home. July 18th, 2025 I noticed the truck was running rough, I found oil in coolant over flow again, I checked the oil its self and it was full. I went to this place yesterday for accessory installation and also had a warning light for my brakes. I can't talk this place up anymore, they had nothing but respect and were courteous in every way possible. The install was lengthy and I knew that going in but they kept apologizing for it taking so long. This place has earned my return over and over again. My wife drove 3+ hours to look at, and likely purchase, a vehicle we were very interested in looking at on CarGurus. She was disappointed to find out that a dealership employee was using the car as his/her personal vehicle and it 'wasn't available'. When this is the situation I don't understand why they post the vehicle for sale. They told her to 'come back later'. I called the dealership while she was still in the Carmel, IN area. I was told they would try to get the car in and call me back. They did neither. We ended up driving to the greater Chicago area a couple of weeks later to purchase the car we wanted. I bought a new 2020 Dinali pick up truck and I found out that Penske was giving me a better trade-in and a better value on the vehicle I was buying. I've called Ed Martin several times and they just say the sales manager will call me. He never does. The finance manager doesn't want to deal with it so he always just says someone will call.... I've had two separate experiences, the first being great and the second being awful. My sales experience with Tyler was overall great. I initially went in to lease a newer vehicle but upon thinking further decided purchasing preowned was a better long term plan. Tyler wasn't pushy during any test drives, which led me to the decision to come back to him for buying pre-owned. Overall it was a smooth experience and I'm happy with the vehicle. My second experience wasn't so great. I brought my car in for an issue that I assumed just was overlooked upon buying it (as it started that evening) of the driver side door not locking with the remote. Not a huge dealbreaker but an annoyance at most. Much to my surprise this ended up being quoted at 500 dollars to fix. So you're telling me, an issue that was overlooked and existed when I bought the car is something I'm needing to pay for? On top of that, upon getting my keys back then attempted to charge me $136 dollars although no work was done to the car. At that point I simply told them I wasn't paying that. Approach at your own risk. I'd advise for service to go elsewhere. This seems like a place to money grab. read more

I do not know why car dealers feel the need to lie or mislead. Is this all just a game to see how badly they can treat the customer? Ed Martin Buick GMC is no different. We made an appointment for service and were told over the phone that if we waited one week, they could get us in and out in a day. The day comes for the appointment. The service advisor, who I am not sure knows much about cars, said it might not be done today. This is a one-hour shock/ strut replacement at best. Later that day, we were told it would not be done, so we had to call to find this out. The question was asked why do we have an appointment then? The appointment is to save your spot in line. Precisely, our spot in line is when we showed up. That is our time for repair. Not a day later if the car were to be done a day later, then that would be our appointment time. If you make an appointment at a doctor's office, do you sit and wait, and the appointment gets you a spot in line? But this is a perfectly fine explanation for crooked dealers. They are all the same. They have had the car for two days and still have no word on when we will be complete. Unfortunately, these were special shocks, and we had to go to the dealer. The parts were ordered prior to the service appointment, and they have arrived, so we are not waiting on the parts. To top it all off, one of the other service advisors was completely unprofessional towards my wife during check-in. Dealers are a dinosaur industry that will soon fade once the manufacturers figure out how to go direct to customers. Service like this! read more

I had to reschedule my initial visit due to my work travel. They had my car for 7 days to do a complimentary inspection, fix a recall, and to look over and price out a few concerns of mine. My main point of contact dropped the ball on many things - from communicating pricing, to calling me back and even getting the rescheduled appointment put in their system correctly. I called them 6 times on Monday because I needed my car to get to work the next day and I was promised a call back each time. I finally got confirmation that I was able to pick up my car @6:04PM when they close at 6PM. The guy on the phone was rude and had horrible customer service skills which is why I will not be going back. Then when I picked up my car, they said I had to come back to get my key fob replaced since they had broken it. I was promised a call by 12PM the next day (Tuesday) to get an update on my key -- no one called. I then showed up and was able to get it replaced within an hour (which I think is normal). My biggest complaint is having to deal with the Customer Service Rep for the Service Team - his lack of follow up and customer service skills were completely apparent. The saving grace of this incident was the Service Manager (I am blanking on his name right now). But he was absolutely phenomenal. He apologized and listened to me and did his best to get the situation resolved. He went out of his way to suggest different servicing options and championed my key fob getting replaced that day and ASAP! Thank you so much to the Service Manager -- if I were to ever go back, I would only do so if I worked directly with him. read more

My stepfather, my daughter, & I had been looking at vehicles all day. By 430 we were tired & giving one final dealer one chance. We called ahead of time to ensure the vehicle was available. The receptionist was informational about the vehicle & what to do upon arrival. Kurt was not only physically ready for us after a 45 minute drive, at the front with the vehicle but he also had it freshly washed.. After introduction & a fill up, he explained & apologized that they haven't had a chance to detail it, but it will be done if i decided that I wanted to take it home. (Which being someone who used to work at a dealership i can understand why it may have had to wait to be detailed). I then took it for a very short drive (not being from the area I didnt want to get lost). Needless to say roughly 3 minutes into the ride & I knew that my momma (R.I.H. momma) was up there telling me yes, I approve! But let's be honest, I knew from the minute I initially arrived that this WAS going to be my car. . . (After a detail of course.) He was informational on the vehicle & carfax, as well as very understanding to anxiety & being emotionally overwhelmed. After talking for a bit, I found out we had things in common. . . Oddly enough Favorite colors and being ocd about OUR PENS. Lol. (Thank you for mine btw I might have a new pen type). I went in for an oil change and brake fluid flush. For the fourth time in a row I was advised they c only due the oil change because they were short handed. I requested full synthetic oil. When I received the bill it only said oil change, nothing about what type of oil was used. The lady advised they used a synthetic blend for $65. She offered to change the oil for if I waited and pay $30 more. Another person stated it was full synthetic. Since te receipt only says oil change, I still have no idea for sure what was actually put in and couldn't get a straight answer. i have no idea how Ed Martin Buick gets any high reviews. I've had many great experiences at the Ed Martin Buick service center. Amy and Carol in the service department are so helpful and attentive to detail. They kept me updated on my car and got me a loaner / shuttle when I needed to leave my car for longer than a few hours. They won't try to upcharge you or upsell you here, they just fix what needs to be fixed quickly and affordably. I'll continue to have my car serviced here for the foreseeable future. I've also have experience working with the sales team here. My salesman Richard was very helpful and knowledgeable about every car on the lot. He was available when I contacted him and was very patient when I changed my mind about specs/colors. He went above and beyond to locate the exact car I wanted and ensured that I got the best price on it. I highly advise everyone I know to NEVER BUY A CAR OR GET REPAIR WORK DONE AT Ed Martin Buick GMC. My car is now back in their shop for the 4th time in 3 weeks for this same issue. I've paid more than $700 in repairs and they still can not figure out what the burning smell is coming from.They've had it since Saturday, which is when I took it back in (for the third time) because there was visible oil leaking on other parts under the hood. **PICTURED BELOW* I was assured that the issue is fixed this time. Today, they actually drove my car out to my job completely across town to deliver it with the SAME burning smell that I took it in for. I smelled it immediately when I opened the door and also when I opened the hood. I even had a coworker come outside to confirm the smell. He smelled it immediately too and said it was coming from the vents. I then found where it looks like the front bumper isn't even flush with the rest of the car and looks like its been messed with. I refused to accept the car back and sent it back with him because it was still not fixed. How do you have a car for 6 days (for the third time) and still can't figure it out?? I even allowed them to drive the car home for two days to make sure any residual oil was burned off before they gave it back to me because that was there excuse for the lingering smell the past two times. So I called their GM, Zach, who I met with on Saturday and he tried pushing me off to Cathy, their service manager, again. On Saturday I asked him to come outside and see the work his people did on my car. He said "Well I wouldn't be able to tell if it's right or wrong either way, so you just need to talk with Cathy." Ummmmm....How does someone with no knowledge of cars become the General Manager of Ed Martin Buick GMC ???? I have no knowledge of cars but I can sure tell that oil leaking on other parts and a jimmy rigged heat shield is not quality work. So after getting off the phone with Zach, who was not one ounce of help, I called back and asked their WITCHY operator, Jackie, for the name of whoever owns the dealership. She argued with me for a moment, then informed me that Mark Harrison is the COO, proceeded to rattle off the address to the Ed Martin Acura store and then she HUNG UP ON ME immediately. I called back and she said "what do you need!?" EXCUSE ME?????????? That is probably the worst way she could've handled the call. Again, TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE I have really kept a cool head about this, been polite and haven't gotten shitty with any of them until today. I've given them the opportunity THREE times now to fix their shotty work because I truly believed that it was better to pay a little more to have it repaired at the dealership where they are supposed to have top notch mechanics than to take it somewhere else. Never Again. Here I am, still without my car or any answers, and I've wasted $700 on worthless repairs. Obviously me writing this is not going to fix my car or reimburse me for the money that was wasted. I'm simply writing this to warn family and friends to save you the time, hassle and money of buying a car from Ed Martin Buick GMC or having repairs made by their shop that cant even correctly diagnose and fix a car after three tries. I recently needed to upgrade my car and decided to try something new. I've always owned vehicles in the past, but my friend recommended Ed Martin Buick GMC as the place to go and seek out something other than my usual Ford Escapes that I'd always owned and maybe even lease a car instead. It turns out; I'd been going there for years with my Ford to get it fixed when I was in town before I moved here. Carol Mooney has always been a dream to work with scheduling on short notice, and John Richardson has repeatedly worked on my cars doing a fantastic job and fast, no matter how badly I'd beaten them up driving. Well, I can't tell you how happy I am with my newly-leased 2020 GMC Terrain! I met with Dennis McNamara, the best sales and leasing consultant I've had the pleasure to work with, and he went over all of my options with what I wanted and gave me help with what I needed in my new car. Dennis took the time to answer every question I had and let me test drive several cars. He needed to make sure that I was genuinely comfortable with my decision in the end. I was going to buy another car outright, but Dennis spoke with me and understood my needs would be better suited if I leased. So, I did. I ended up with a brand new car, with no issues, and is fully covered the entire duration of my lease. When it came time to close the sale, Todd Lewis, the Finance Manager, walked me through everything very carefully. He took all the time I needed, without rushing me, to explain and ensure my understanding of the lease options and costs along with some additional options that just made sense based on how I use my car. Both Dennis and Todd were excited to see me over the few days I worked with them, and both were truly honest with me about pricing, terms, and quality upfront. The service department is horrific. They make deceptive claims for needed repairs, then call to get approval to charge for the repair. I believe making false claims to charge for a repair is illegal. After speaking to the General Manager (which was pleasant to speak with when purchasing our vehicle) about the deception of the service department, he tells us what we were told. We know what we were told by the service department. Either, "his people" are not telling him the truth or he's not acknowledging what we were told by "his people". Do not buy from Ed Martin. We bought a vehicle from them only to find a multitude of problems with it after signing the paperwork. When we test drove the vehicle, everything seemed fine except it needed a new radiator and the tires needed balanced. We were persuaded to sign the paperwork to purchase the vehicle and told that we could pick it up the next day. When we drove over two hours to pick up the vehicle the next day, we test drove the vehicle to confirm that the radiator and tire alignment had been completed properly. During the test drive, we noticed a whining noise in 4 wheel drive. We expressed our concerns to the used car manager, who told us they would check it out and deliver the vehicle to us the next day. Two days later, the driver arrived with the vehicle. The service manager said that they thought the sound was normal, but would pay to have it inspected by the Ford dealership in our town. The driver also mentioned that the tire light came on in the vehicle while driving it to us. He stated that he called the service manager and was told that whatever was wrong with the tire light would be fixed. After getting the vehicle inspected, we discovered that two of the tires did not have enough air in them, which was causing the all wheel drive whining sound. We were also informed that the tires were over five years old and dry rotted, making them unsafe to drive on. Our local shop also noted that the alignment was off, which we were told was already done. The oil pan is leaking, as well as the exhaust manifold. When we contacted the dealership to expressed concern regarding the unsafe tires, they told us that we were wrong and that "Tire safety is a matter of opinion." Their demeanor was completely different than when we took possession of the vehicle. They had promised that whatever was wrong with the tires would be corrected, which was obviously an outright lie since they are now refusing to correct the issue and we are buying brand new tires before the temporary tags have even expired. I feel that the employees at this dealership did everything they could to get us to buy a vehicle from them and as soon as we took possession, they treated us like we were an annoyance. read more

My mom made an appointment with Jenny for 5:15 on 5/20/20 to look at a car. Jenny had been texting my mom that same day saying she would have the car ready for us to look at once we arrived. We get there at 5:00 and the secretary tells us that Jenny went home sick. Ok- no big deal. So we asked if someone else could show us the car, and the secretary didn't even know what car we had scheduled to look at. Finally someone comes to help us only to let us know that the car we had come to look at was sold a couple hours ago. We drove an hour and a half to get there and Jenny went home sick without letting anyone know she had an appt scheduled with us AND the car was sold to someone else?! What kind of business is this? Super unprofessional and we definitely don't recommend booking an appt to look at a car with Jenny. Complete waste of time. read more

I inquired and then applied for a 2021 GMC YUKON. I was not able to get approved for the lease and so we spoke about a finance option with them. I sent them all documentation and proof of income. After that I never heard from anyone ever again. I called 3-4 times spoke to the lady on the phone and the general manager Zach whom I spoke to once ignored all my calls and never called me back. I ended up getting the vehicle somewhere else for a far better deal. This company is completely uninterested in business with real customers. It's a shame they couldn't call me back or pick up the phone. The sales rep also stopped responding to any texts or phone calls. As soon as they couldn't get a deal done with me on the lease they ignored me completely as if I wasn't a potential buyer anymore. Horrible business ethics. Shop GMC somewhere else where all customers are treated well. read more

Was in the parking lot looking at cars for about 15 minutes and no one ever came out to acknowledge me. I have never had that experience at a car dealership and was looking forward to buying from this location. I am not sure if I needed to go inside first, but at dealerships usually this is not the case. read more

Talk about a mistake waiting so long to get a new car! I had been pricing out different vehicles for awhile and the salespeople and managers were more than patient and polite! My salesperson walked me through my new GMC and got me the best deal in town. Introduced me to their service team and I immediately felt like one of the family instead of just a number. I highly recommend all their sales pros but Tyler and Coup were the ones who helped me! Their managers Jared and zack greeted me each time I walked in and made time to talk. After searching local inventories, I went to Ed Martin Buick GMC to purchase a high end Denali Sierra... After a couple of hours to go through the process, at the final stage the Salesman informed me that the truck with the very VIN in my paperwork had been sold before my process ever began. Spoke to Management who had no reasonable answer for the lack of disclosure PRIOR to running me through their gauntlet and dinging my credit score, and offered to find a comparable vehicle. Bait and switch tactics and unethical car sales leadership. I'll buy my next $70k GM from another Indy area dealer. read more
