Anything you buy here is going to be top-dollar, low-quality, and you're going to be condescended during the purchase. Beautiful locale that would much better pretty much any other business. It's really sad that a business that supports so many of my favored parenting and lifestyle techniques, considered to be "out of the box" or outside of the norm, is run by a dictatorial madwoman. I've had a few e-interactions with Chrissy Helmer and beyond her inability to construct a logical sentence, use correct grammar, or spell things correctly in her promotional materials or advertisements, she has been nothing short of awful. My experiences with her have ranged from her blindly defending a claim that "no matter how many veggies you eat in a day, you will never get the daily nutrients without using _____ product that I happen to sell" (which is completely false and she didn't like me pointing it out) to her telling me that I wouldn't fit into a Facebook group because you aren't allowed to be critical, hold store associates accountable for suggestions, or talk about any products that her store doesn't sell. Are you kidding me? No critical thought? No accountability? How is this a place that is supposed to be so progressive, yet rejects any type of new thought. Chrissy runs her business under the guise of being a kind, Christian woman interested in helping mamas learn about natural parenting. This would be great if she didn't reject anyone who thinks differently than her and has the audacity to challenge a claim she makes. I've had a friend tell me how her pregnant friend left the old store in tears after Chrissy made her feel like a monster for opting to have a hospital birth after an incredibly traumatic birth experience with her last child requiring immediate medical attention for the child. I've seen a friend post in a completely separate forum that she was looking for an item Eco Chic sells new in used condition because money was tight and she couldn't afford to spend $70 on a new toy when she has two other children. Chrissy proceeded to comment that the toy was available in her store, obviously! My friend knew that, she's in the store regularly, but she clearly stated she was not in a position to pay your incredibly marked up prices for a one present for one child. I myself felt judged for not waking my newborn out of his carseat to put him into a carrier when I came in to browse her cloth collection shortly after my son was born. I am a babywearer; I know my child and I know when and where to wear him. Thanks. Back off. I have avoided trying to be petty with this woman, but I can only handle so much pretension. It's really too bad; this store sells so much wonderful stuff and supports local business. I love what the store claims to be about, it's just unfortunate that in reality it's something completely different. Luckily for Chrissy, she's the only storefront for a niche market in this area, so for convenience and instant gratification's sake, people will continue to be referred there (but not without a disclaimer!). I'm only one person. As you can see from other reviews, most people really love her. That's wonderful. This is just my review. Store is great, owner needs work. It sucks to say, but I'll save myself the stress and judgment I've received from her and her staff and get better customer service from Amazon. Or I'll make the drive to Davis or Berkeley to source my baby products rather than buy from a person who sees no value in a conversation between adults that may have differing opinions. PS. It still says "Rescources" in your photo on Yelp. How is it possible that you and no one else has noticed this in the 2 1/2 months that you've been at your new location. Unfortunately I'm leaving this negative review and I've never even had the chance to get past the front doors. Twice now I've stopped by in search of a unique baby gift, only to find a handwritten note on the door stating that the employee(s) were out to lunch. Yesterday I waited 35 minutes for someone to come back, and finally decided to take my business elsewhere. I found a sweet little gift at Kool Kids, also in the Nut Tree, and will go back there the next time I need a special gift. In response to the reply from Chrissy: Thank you for taking the time to write back. I can certainly understand the unique needs of a small, family-run business, but I'd expect you would have some sort of plan for the days when there is only one employee at the shop- perhaps bringing his/her own lunch that day or even ordering for delivery? When I arrived at the shop there were two pregnant mamas out front, also disappointed to find the store temporarily closed. Imagine how a bit of pre planning would impress your would-be clients? As a pregnant, working mom with a busy toddler it was hugely disappointing to know that I potentially wasted the little bit of free time available to me by visiting the store. Just some advice that might help you avoid dissatisfied clients in the future. read more

It has been over a year since we have spoken and I left my review. I have not attempted to contact you and have not revised my original review. Here it is a year later and you have revisited this and changed your response FOUR times, each time attacking my credibility. Whom is harassing whom? No matter how many times you change your story, mine remains the same. I will not change it, nor will I delete it so just leave me alone! I don't know what you think you're going to accomplish. I stand by this account and my husband, who himself works in tandem with the CHP, FBI and other law enforcement entities, can attest to my account as he actually had more crazy dealings with her than myself. She is unequivocally lying. I still have the emails and notes as well and would be happy to provide them. We were going to pursue legal action. However, it was just not worth having to deal with her antics further on any level. Why would the owner revisit this a year later? Interesting that the "glowing" recommendation stating that the negative reviewers are lying was made by someone who reviewed this, and only this establishment. How would she know what the truth is if not a party/witness to this issue? Paid review perhaps (Google "Yelp paid reviews".) My review was based solely on my interaction and experience with Chrissy, the owner. I cannot speak to products as I have not, nor would I EVER shop here. Every time we come to California we stop in here while visiting the nut tree for our kids. Cute store & great location but on more then one occasion have we visited & it was closed for lunch or picking up mail or or or.... To me that's highly unprofessional no matter how small it is. They have good items that you can't find most places but the prices are extremely marked up. For example the inspired by Finn Amber necklace I've bought online was $17, while at Eco Chic I paid over $40! read more

Stopped to look at the rack outside the front door because "hippie" type stores (I use the term loosely and positively) tend to sometimes actually carry my size in cute clothes. FYI I'm one of those lucky ones who is too big for mainstream stores and too small for plus size stores. I immediately found a cute shirt that I really liked, tried it on in their comfy back room for trying on clothes or chilling with your feeding baby (nice touch!) and yes, it was cute on and it fit perfectly! I bought it. It was just under $30 which I consider moderately priced and worth it for good clothes. Chrissy was also very nice and i let her know i appreciated the size selection and we commiserated on both being awkward sizes for the fashion industry. I loved this store at the old location downtown, and the new place is even better! This is my shop of choice for all things baby. I also come here for chalk paint and essential oils, organic treats and raw milk! The staff is all so friendly and knowledgable. Today I took my daughter in to get some non toxic fingernail polish and Staci was so helpful and engaging, taking the time to talk to my daughter as well. I had an amazing shopping experience at Eco Chic a few weeks ago. It was my first time there and I was really impressed by the products that they had. I currently cloth diaper my child but have been buying all the accessories/creams/etc online. It is nice to know there is a physical place I can go to to buy things natural for my daughter. I was helped by Mandi and she was so friendly and welcoming. She helped me find what I needed. I bought a handful of CJ's Butter samples and a GroVia diaper cream stick. On a recent trip to the Vacaville Outlets, we made a visit to the kiddie play area. While the kids were burning energy with dad, I took the rare opportunity to visit Eco Chic, I had seen the boutique out of the corner of my eye and was curious....it is a darling little boutique that carries many products for babies and baby mommas. Sadly mine are past the infancy stage, I still browsed and saw that they have lovely unique gifts of faith....then I got sight of their essential oils....what a treasure find! I have done a lot of research and was delighted that they carry a high quality line of essential oils. Sure I can purchase on line, but there is something to be said for face to face customer service from knowledgable staff. I bought an "inspired by Finn" Baltic Amber bracelet yesterday to help with my carpal tunnel syndrome. I tried on a different amber bracelet in-store which was made by the same company but it was too small. The lady whom helped me suggested the type that is elastic vs the screw-on type. I purchased the elastic bracelet but later that night noticed that the elastic bracelet was too small and cutting off my circulation. I returned today, less than 24hrs. to get my money back or exchange for an amber necklace that I could use as a bracelet. A different female employee told me hey don't take products like this back and that I should have tried it on first. She also suggested that maybe I could give it to someone but all she could do was give 10% off another purchase. As soon as I said that wasn't going to work. She apologized and quickly turned around to help another customer. Although, this boutique is cute and carries a lot organic items, I will not be shopping there again. This store has a great selection of carefully selected unique items. I have shopped at Eco Chic on numerous occasions. I recently came in and bought a bottle of a DoTerra essential oil blend and I loved it so much I went home to look up more DoTerra products online. Much to my surprise I noticed I paid a $5 markup at EcoChic beyond the retail price that DoTerra had listed on their website, for the same exact oil. I do realize that shopping local often means paying more, but I don't understand why the oil was marked up an additional $5. It seems unethical to mark up an additional amount since DoTerra is a multilevel marketing company and they already provide retail vs wholesale prices so that their distributors are able to make a profit. After comparing prices with other places for similar products (co-op in Davis & sprouts & nugget), I'm sad to say that I won't be shopping at EcoChic anymore. read more
