I just left the Nordstrom rack store in Vacaville. It really restored my faith in the Nordstrom brand. I was helped by a young person named Rhea, which I hope I spelled correctly. She personified classic Nordstrom values and customer service. She was kind, bubbly, and courteous. I'm sure she probably wakes up that way every day and uses her spirit to achieve and anything she does, but on this day, she represented Nordstrom and the white club experience. I grew up knowing. She explained to me I don't buy item what was the final sale and how all of the policies worked. She was warm and empathetic from beginning to end. What a profile and professional excellence. I hadn't ever been to this Nordstrom Rack in Vallejo. It's across the freeway from the Vallejo outlet mall stores. My sister has been looking for a pair of Hokas on sale and this was the second Rack location she tried. Unfortunately no luck here, but I tagged along and tried on some shoes. They have a very large selection of good designer shoes...the largest choice of Sam Edelman shoes I've seen in ages. The discounts are good, not great. I ended up choosing a pair of EVA Arizona Birkenstock sandals. At $54.95 they are $5 more than buying on Birkenstock direct website, so no savings especially as free membership allows you free shipping. However, I wasn't sure of my size for this brand so it was helpful to try several pairs out in person. The salespeople here were low key and helpful if asked for assistance. The store was large, cool, well lit and had a large selection. The store was larger than the ones I have gone to in Sacramento. I briefly looked at personal care items and they had a nice selection. Otherwise, we didn't have time to look at much else as we wanted to head home and beat the traffic. I am taking one star away for no discount on the shoes and the fact they when I got home I realized the security tag hadn't been removed at checkout . I've been to this location a few times. As a matter of fact, I'm here right now. While I think overall it's a good store with a decent selection of items for everyone, and the prices are reasonable, I'm concerned about the customer service. There seems to be a lack of urgency when it comes to their lines. I've never had enough time to wait in line and write a full review for a store while I'm in the store. The annoying part is in really just here to pick up an online order. My first suggestion is to have someone dedicated to assisting with these types of orders. Obviously they can't stand there doing nothing in between but maybe there's a button we can press to call them up. Secondly, have people you can call up when the line is long. This is the third time I've experienced this and one time the line was so long I had to leave and come back. Overall I do think you can snag some good deals so I'll keep shopping here and online but just wanted to share my experience on a random Tuesday. read more

Now if you are following, I just have too much clothes, mostly from Costco Clearance. Buying stuff I sure do NOT need, but because it's so cheap, it's almost an addiction. The bad thing about these types of discount stores is the random inventory. Not just in merchandise but also in sizes. This location is also so much better than the ones in Emeryville and San Leandro, see other Yelps. This location is clean and organized! Atmosphere - Warehouse style shopping. No thrills. I have shopped in many Nordstrom Rack stores and most of them are very good. But this one is the exception! I like to shop in Nordstrom Rack for the good price and the higher quality. I can always found somethings I like and purchased many items almost every time when I am in a Nordstrom Rack store. But this time my whole family buy nothing! This store doesn't carry most of the items the other Nordstrom Rack does when we are there. Very fewer customers in this store compared to the other Nordstrom Rack too! The shoe selection here .. AMAZING. Soooo many cute shoes for such good prices! I saw some Birkenstock's for $37 -- A STEAL. I will say though, the women's clothing racks were kinda messy and a little lacking. HOWEVER, I found a dress that was originally $49 for $7 (!!!!!!). There is definitely room for improvement, but that's honestly such an easy fix. I'm obsessed with this store and the deals that I found, I will definitely be coming back soon! read more

So clean, bright, and well organized. Customer service was excellent. They have a full stock of amazing finds! Came in to check the shoes and found the ones I had ordered a few days earlier, but they were marked off an extra 70%! At the register, the kind worker, mentioned how I could go about canceling my online order (while it's in route to me I couldn't cancel but once it arrives in store I can call to cancel the order and get a refund). Once it was time to pay to my surprise the heels were an extra $25% off...basically free! Gotta love the Rack! read more

This used to be my fave Rack to go to, and even raved to other Rack locations about its seclection and layout. I walked in today and was completely disappointed. This store doesn't even try hide its mess - it's essentially Ross on steroids. Store is now set up in categories like discount clothing stores and clothes are hung on long racks. No brand sections, no categories, no features. This store isn't even trying anymore. It's been difficult to watch the Rack fall from grace, and this experience solidified that it's no longer interested in capturing its usual customer base. It was dead on a Saturday at 11 am. The first time I went into Nordstrom Rack it was a gold mine. At that time, there was only one in the area (San Leandro). As a woman with huge feet and an odd bra size, naturally small band, huge cups - Nordstrom is my go to place to find shoes and bras that fit. What I love is that they are in stock. But at the rack??? Wow, my first visit was amazing! I walked away with four bras and two pairs of athletic shoes for a fraction of what they would have cost me at Nordstrom. But each subsequent visit has been disappointing. I wasn't in San Leandro, but my stepson lives there, so on our way there, I'd go by the rack. Each time I go to another one, I'm even more disappointed than I was the previous time. There's nothing for me. The store (especially the underwear section) was an absolute mess. The shoes they have aren't what I'm looking for. I looked for some socks and was so underwhelmed that I realized that no matter what I found, it wouldn't have been worth the wait in line. I assumed that in this area, that the store would be of a particular quality - meaning much cleaner than it was. I didn't expect that in San Leandro, but for the outlet, my expectations were higher. And if maintenance is such a hassle, they should hire more people at a liveable wage! This is Nordstrom! They can do better and their regular stores don't look crappy, but I think that they feel that when they come to our areas that they don't need to care. The do. I've heard stories about how everyone working in their regular stores have time working in each department and doing every job so that they can get to know the customers, the product, and everything they need to about their brand. Walked in, asked the woman behind the counter (assuming to be a manager) to help me.. she did begrudgingly. Her "help" consisted of walking me over to the area she thought the item would be in and then telling me I had to "look around." This store reminds me of a bad Walmart or Ross. There is a long line at the front check out that snakes around the store. The clothes is unorganized and unattractively piled on itself. It reminds me of Walmart. The staff was not helpful. I was looking for something very specific but, was I was informed by a staff person, there was no one available to help. I ordered some Prada sunglasses from Nordstrom.com and had them shipped to this Nordstrom Rack location for pick up. When I picked them up, they were clearly used. When I tried to return them, the cashier and manager said that they could not be returned to Nordstrom Rack. What? So I can pick them up there, but not return them there? How is it my fault that the sunglasses were used? So my choices are to send them back through the mail or drive all the way to Walnut Creek wasting both my time and gas. Not cool. Nordstrom customer service has gone downhill as well as their quality control. I should not have received a used item. When I ordered the sunglasses, it was not stated that this was their new policy. The men's section is Trash. I love visiting Nordstrom and N. Rack locations in other cities but this one is heavily catered toward the female shopper. The section is way smaller than other locations and the selection is highly repetitive and boring. Even for shoes (my size is 11.5) they didn't even have one full display for me to consider- literally 8 pairs of outdated running shoes to choose from. WOW! THIS is no ordinary Nordstrom Rack! Clearly Management has set the bar higher than all others. First, I'm always impressed by how organized and tidy the store is. Every visit I see staff members on the floor working hard to maintain the appearance. Most important of course is the SERVICE!! Yesterday I had yet another AMAZING experience! I was standing in line to pick up an on-line order. STEVEN immediately acknowledged me. He completed a transaction with another guest and excused himself to assist me. The store was bustling with many people in line. STEVEN was not the least flustered. He was so happy to help me and so friendly asking about my day. I really appreciated his kindness and energy! I went to return something I received from Nordstrom.com and was told I now need to stand in the regular line ( 29 people ahead of me). In the past , there was a counter to the right of the regular line for order pick up and returns. I always love that Nordstrom had the best customer service whether you're buying or returning an item from them. I guess that has changed for the returns. I visited this place right after the grand opening and was able to find some good deals without having to dig through too much. Located in the Nut Tree Plaza, the spot is ideal and does get a lot of traffic (compared to Sakes Off 5th across the street). There are a ton of different racks to peruse through, so I wouldn't recommend it if you're looking in a time crunch and are for something specific, but it's great to look through if you have some extra time. I ended up finding a couple of cute sweaters at under $20 each which was a steal. Luckily, they have some designated racks that are sorted based on price ($40 and under, $30 and under, etc.) so you're not aaalways finding a piece of clothing that's $20, and then another similar one that's $200 right next to it. Other than clothes, they have a wide variety of shoes, handbags, and even discounted name brand makeup palettes which can give Ulta a run for their money. read more

I am amazingly disappointed in this Nordstrom Rack. There are hardly any selections and everything is on clearance which means it's just tossed on the rack and good luck finding a size. Purse selection is the reason I come to NR and there was nothing. Shoes were awful too.
