While we were checking out, Dawn was getting ready to put out a few more squishies. She took the time to show my son each one she was tagging before putting them on the shelf. She absolutely didn't have to do that--she could have just walked by--but that small act of kindness meant so much! The NeeDoh and squishy craze is real and I don't think employees get enough appreciation for dealing with the constant demand. Dawn's patience and kindness made my son's day. He was so excited to add a few new squishies to his collection! Thank you, Dawn, for taking those extra few minutes to make my son's day. And thank you from my daughter too, who somehow always ends up stealing her big brother's squishies no matter which one we buy just for her!

The selection of cards for Father's Day was pretty depleted but that makes sense the day before the holiday. I managed to find a couple and the cutest shawl. Usually the service is pretty good. However on this visit Lisa was my cashier and gave me attitude after I politely asked her not to grab my phone. I held up my phone (with the screen towards her) so she could scan the clearly visible bar code for the use of my birthday coupon. She grabbed my phone. After I said something she said, "well make the bar code larger!" with MUCH attitude. I told her to ask me too - not just take my phone. She was intent on arguing, and added she has taken others' phones, and no one had a problem. I was floored! I have been there too many times to count and never had anyone take my phone (instead of using their hand scanner). Nor have I ever received such attitude. She made what started out as a great experience shopping for others to one tainted by her attitude and unprofessionalism.

I probably called 13 places today looking for contact lenses and I was referred to this location by one of the locations I called, and I am so happy with the customer service over the phone and in person. All of my questions were answered both over the phone and in person, I was made to feel important the moment I walked in the door and the guy I did not get his name? But he was super sweet very helpful and patient with me while I picked out two really cool contact lenses for my Halloween costume . As I said, I literally was using it for the first time and it was brand new. I assumed maybe it was because it was a hot day and the shop was air conditioned. Although, even with that, a quality piece should not be affected. I took it back the next day and some guy who was not the gut I bought it from inspected it and felt the need to remind me several times that they only carry quality products and that they inspect everything before they sell it. OK, defensiveness like that makes me automatically suspect they actually do carry really cheap stuff. The guy kind of made me feel like he thought I was scamming him. Long story short he replaced it with an exact replica, which I was grateful for. However, that one broke last night as well. It broke just by putting it on the counter. Just shattered into pieces. Not trying to be one of "those guys", but I've been using bongs for almost 30 years and I have broken one that was my fault in that time and it was from being kicked over, not casual use. Perhaps I happened to pick the one supplier they carry that's poor quality? But the fact that both of them broke so quickly in the exact same way tells me it's not a coincidence. So, $140 down the toilet. I don't feel like dealing with the rude people there again, so I'll just buy the next one elsewhere.

The animal garden sculptures for sale caught my eye (lots of bunnies!), and the actual farm animals on site, like chickens and adorable donkeys, made me smile. We were able to get up close and pet these lovely creatures (visitors can feed them as well). The place offered endless rows of plants and flowers to explore, from scented geraniums to scabiosa raspberry kisses. We purchased a few plants before leaving, echibeckia summerina orange, red dwarf, and jerusalem sage. Service was great. There's a small parking lot for convenience, too.

They also have all the soil, amendments, and fertilizers you need, in addition to some garden accessories. I think I saw a gift shop too! The place was bigger than I initially thought. When you look at the first section of plants, there is more when you turn to the right and walk across the way. They also have display gardens - very cool! I was looking at a nice variety of heucheras and heard this loud, unfamiliar animal sound. It startled me! I turned the corner only to discover not one, but three donkeys. I don't think I've ever seen one before, but I thought that was amusing. The service was good. Everyone was friendly and offered to help if I needed it. When you're ready to check out, there is a bell to ring so one of the workers can come. Prices are reasonable. Most of the plants are small starts which I don't mind. They make for less expensive plants. If you're obsessed with plants like I am, I definitely encourage you to patronize this small, locally-owned business instead of box stores. They have way more varieties. I will definitely be back over and over again.

I don't recall taking the train ride, but for only $5 it's a must do for kiddos these days. Cheaper than a trip to Disneyland. What I really recall is the giant gingerbread people they used to have in their bakery. My parents would never get me one, but every time I saw them the drool was on. They also had quick breads like zucchini bread and the such. I'm a sucker for zucchini breads and other quick breads. I went a few years back ready to get my ginger bread man and some quick bread and to my dismay they don't have any of that anymore. Being an adult now I was so ready to buy all those things my parents wouldn't buy me. Being an adult has those perks. Now the Nut Tree is a place made up of restaurants and some key stone stores such as Ultra and Old Navy. If you hunt around you can find Sees. I really wanted to go to Sees today, but we ran out of time to make the trek over there. We did have time to explore Kirkland. I've never been to a Kirkland before and it turned out to be a real fun store. They had a great deal on diffusers. 1/5 the price of the ones I saw in Fort Bragg. I found one that I LOVED the scent to in Fort Bragg, but couldn't rationalize spending the money on it. I almost got one of the cheaper ones at Kirkland, but resisted as I really didn't need to spend the money today. I need to save up for the Berry Festival in Woodland this weekend and I bought too much stuff in Fort Bragg this weekend. We did go to Fenton's and shared a cone of black cherry and loved every bite the last time we were at the Nut Tree. It's hard to resist a cone from Fenton's when you stop at the Nut Tree. They are located to the right of the big Nut Tree sign and next to the bathrooms that are on the Left. We walk by it all the time as we go to the bathroom for our potty stop. Just thinking about it I'm drooling. We also stopped buy Old Navy. They always have tons of cute tees for $10, which is a good deal in my book for new shits. They had a ton for cute skirts and dresses, but they weren't a style I'd wear so we walked out empty handed. That was our stop in the Nut Tree this time. It's always a solid rest break and potty stop on our way.
