The space was interesting and huge feeling given the massively high ceilings. You paid for it given this omelet was worth half of what I paid for it as food alone. Sat at the bar for a beer on Sunday at about 3PM. They were out of both brands of draft beer I ordered. Well, I don't know if they were actually out or if they were just too lazy to change the kegs. In general, service was just uninterested and the bartenders were more interested in talking amongst themselves and only showed the absolute minimal interest in the customer. I've been here probably half a dozen or so times with my boss, as its his favorite place for lunch. Consequently, I've never had to pay, and that I'm glad of. The service is usually okay, but if you catch someone at the end of their shift they will definitely let you know it. I think they are used to tourists who they will never see again. There's usually a vegetarian option or two, but nothing is all that memorable or remarkable. My boss's chicken Caesars he always gets look really dry and unappetizing. Its kind of a standby though because you know they will have something for everyone and will very likely have a table. Because its in an enormous atrium the acoustics are kind of strange and if you're with more than one person it can be hard to hear. Its also kind of drafty. The god dam server that was taking our order was completely horrible. He was fucking horrible from the beginning. He was rushing us and being extremely rude. I ordered a Strauss burger and my girlfriend ordered the shrimp Salad. The part that was the fucking most infuriating was when we got our check. The bill was for a total of $76 and some cents which is fine. But I payed $50 dollars cash and the $26 was gonna go on the card. The fucking idiot was trying to keep the $50 cash for himself and changed my girlfriends card for the whole amount. The fact that my girlfriend had to check her bank account to confirm the fact that this piece of shit was trying to rip us off is complete bullshit. This guy definitely should not be in food service. REVIEW FOR BREAKFAST BUFFET We were staying at the Hyatt and had the chance to eat at Eclipse one morning. The spread is sizeable; the "cold" section has oatmeal, yogurt, parfaits, lox, cold cut platter, cheese (brie and feta on that day), an assortment of croissants and muffins, toast, bagels, and fresh fruit. The "hot" section has your standard bacon, sausage, eggs, hash, breakfast potatoes, and an omelet station. I found myself satisfied with at almost every item, and impressed especially with the parfaits (put fresh berries with mascarpone cheese together and you've won my heart over instantly), bacon (it's hard to cook bacon well, especially in bulk; this was thick and cirspy), and eggs (again - it's hard to make good scrambled eggs, and these were perfectly creamy). The quality of the sausage is lower than the other items, in my opinion (chunky and a weird, almost artificial taste), and I think I can make a better omelet since these were overcooked. Still, the majority of the items were fresh and well executed. I like my breakfasts. This one pleased me. (A word about price - the whole breakfast spread is $23.95 but you can just get the cold items (the continental breakfast) for $15 - they don't advertise this.) read more

What a fantastic experience at Eclipse Kitchen & Bar. I was impressed with the selection of appetizers and creative beverage menu. Additionally, the seating was very comfortable as our party was able to have a great view of the impressive atrium. This hotel has tranformed over the years and looks fantastic. Visited the Eclipse Restaurant & Bar with a few friends after work and WOW, I was blown away. It looks like the restaurant went under a huge renovation -- brand new seating and decor. My expectations were exceeded by the delicious food, craft cocktail choices, and awesome atmosphere. I would recommend ordering the brussel sprouts, flat breads, and truffle fries! Nice place to relax and unwind. Just don't expect rapid service or even semi decently speedy service. Apparently if you can drink a beer in less than 20 minutes, you still don't get another until that 20 is up. Or so it seemed. Such gorgeous decor and I only have just discovered such place. Warning, the place is a bit chilly so additional clothing is advised. There were plenty of seating for happy hour. However, their happy hour appetizers were lacking. There wasn't anything filling that interested me. The fries were yummy but still. Please change your menu to better appetizers! Very disappointed, we didn't do Santa's breakfast last year because of the remodel but probably won't do it again. The new restaurant lacks ambiance and the feeling from the initial sit down is to get you out as quick as possible. Waitress drops tab on table after pouring first cup of coffee. I had a couple of Hendrick's Gin Martinis here last Friday as I awaited my wife who came into the City on BART. It's comfortable and they have a good selection of spirits. I was quite disappointed, though, with their pathetic selection of appetizers. I opted for the Chips with Hummus mostly because it was the best choice out of 3. My group of girls came here for a bachelorette party weekend under and employee rate. This employee rate let us eat at the restaurant for half off. I was pretty sad that the menu was so limited as opposed to the in dining menu. 3 of us came to eat and start drinking before another night out. One of us got clam chowder, another got the quesadilla and I got the garlic and chicken pizza along with a bloody mary, a mojito and I got a dirty martini. The quesadilla came out and looked like taquitos. Plating wasn't really anything special, probably the same way they would plate at an Applebee's. The seating was nice, it had a lounge feel to it. We were really confused when we walked up because no one greeted us or told us where we could sit so after a few minutes of standing we sat down at the end of the bar. I'm not sure about everyone else food and drink but my pizza was yummy, the bartender (Bobbi, I think) looked at me as if she knew I wouldn't finish it and brought extra plates for me to share but I eat a lot and even though I only ate half my pizza, I definitely looked forward to eat the rest of it when we came back from the club. My dirty vodka martini was also pretty good, not too olive-y and not too vodka-y. I think our bill came out to around $60, but like I said, half off the food and happy hour drinks. Happy hour is from 4:30-7:30 EVERYDAY. Not the best service but some of the servers were really helpful when we were planning our bar-hopping before clubbing. They have normal bar food, burgers, salads, soups, pizzas. Not much else. read more

I came here for lunch during Dine About Town. The food was fine... not bad, but nothing too special. For DAT it was a good deal, but I don't think the food is worth the prices they charge. The reason this places gets four stars is because of the amazing service. Eddie and Tony were both friendly and attentive, and they really made the experience great. My family and I recently stayed at the Hyatt for a couple days. Our stay was nice, the hotels lobby is beautiful so we decided to try the Eclipse, which is right in the center. First I was carded after ordering my drink, the waitress looked at my ID and insisted it wasn't me which I took as a compliment at first until she had the manager come take a double check. He apologized for the inconvenience but I was still turned off, we had one drink and left. My mom wanted to try breakfast there for our last day before we left so she made reservations. It was 10am and we were right on time, told the guy in the front who I'm guessing was the host that we had reservations. He was soooo stuck up and rude it wasn't even funny, he was like "it would help if you gave me your name and time for your reservation." Dude how many people really have reservations this damn early in the morning?!! He was a jack ass who obviously hates his life and job as if that's our problem. The food and drinks are very good but the staff could use some work, it's not hard to be polite to customers who are paying a lot to be here. read more

Though the hotel was beautiful and the food was good, the service at the kitchen was terrible. We waited for 20 min before they came to ask us for our order. Prior to that we attempted to order at the bar with no success. The waiters didn't seem to be communicating at all. Refills on drinks were impossible to obtain and and a simple request for ketchup seemed to never come. Overall the hotel with their decorations and food were great but the service was terrible. Had a nice lunch with a friend here yesterday. Nice array of menu choices for lunch--salads, sandwiches and hot entrees. Very gracious and attentive service. It's a nice space to the side of the dramatic lobby. What I especially appreciated was the quiet. We could actually have a nice conversation without the need to shout.
