Guinness Beer Battered Fish & Chips
Pearl R.

Such a great pub in downtown sf! I love the vibes and the staff here. So welcoming and sweet!!! Also the food here are really really good. I especially enjoy my fish and chips and the tartar sauce that's the shepherds pie is also a great dish. But when you come here, you have to come for the drinks and their special cocktails!!!

What a GEM!!!! Stopped in on Sunday and was delighted in finding exactly what I was looking for, great food, cold beer and NFL on the TV. They unfortunately didn't have Sunday Ticket but a strong WiFi connection does the trick. The Guinness was poured perfectly and the fish tacos were a delight. The sauce on top was incredible. We also tried their burger and it was excellent as well. Our bartender was super friendly and made sure we were taken care of. But the best part was the prices!!! Two entrees and two Guinness for around $15 per person in the heart of SF is a spot that should be visited if you're a local or just visiting.

One of the fish tacos, the shepherds pie, and my old fashioned drink!

Went there twice in one night while visiting San Fran. Once to have a quick dinner and drink, and the second to have a drink and midnight snack! Dinner was reallly good. I had the Shepherds pie and tried a fish taco. Both were delicious. I really enjoyed the old fashioned drink that I got as well! Better than the speakeasy we went to right afterwards. Much better! Service was awesome and we returned again later that night for another drink and snacks! The owner was also super nice and treated us to a round of shots right before closing! Thanks for your hospitality! Can't wait to return on our next visit back to SF.

I liked the ambience of this place but pretty medicore overall. To be fair we did stop in late but still. Drink prices were out of control expensive they had a specials menu with seventeen dollar drinks. They had better be gallon sized for that price. I ordered sweet potato fries and asked for honey and clarified they had it like 4x and the waiter said they did 4x. Brings them out with ketchup and no honey available. To be fair manager or owner idk took them off the bill. My buddy got the pub burger very average greasy and nothing special. Oh they messed up his order too. He doesn't like tomatoes and sure enough there they were in the burger. Ugh. I'd skip it

This place is so cute, they really deck it out for the holidays. The absolutely nicest people work here. The lady who served us was accommodating and running for our every need and was just so very sweet. The food was delicious, it was pub fare done right. It's British leaning deliciousness. I had the chicken sandwich and it was one of the best I've had in SF. One friend had a salad and it was huge and looked incredible. Another had shepherds pie, which had a really nice addition of cheese on top. But the drinks were the show stopper. Presentation, taste, all amazing! The presentation on all of them was so well thought out. They put so much care to think of every detail. Really all around was just such a delightful experience. This place is my new favorite pub!

The drinks here were delicious. Service was on the interesting side. Our orders were taken quickly. The food came out with the sauces and salad dressings on the wrong plates, so we had to switch to get the curry sauce with the curry fries and the salad dressing with the salad. The food was good but messy. It was cold outside, so the warmth inside felt good for a while, but then we had to take layers off to be comfortable. The bathroom had an odd combination of what was automated and what was manual. It took a long time to get our checks, but it would be a good place to take tourists if you aren't in a hurry.

Sauted Broccolini

Solid 3.5 stars - came here for restaurant week and decided to try it out the prix fixe menu. I don't normally dine in the area since I try to steer clear from tourist traps - Although, I must say I was pleasantly pleased. Ambiance - had that family, Buca di Beppo vibe. So I wouldn't recommend this place for a date, but a great switch up for group, business trip or fast casual dinner. By tavern, then ya - it's more of a group setting kinda deal. The service was pretty standard, but thought it was a little weird that the server came to check on the table multiple times and didn't get my drink order lol. It's fine, I probably shouldn't drink anyway. Since there was 4 of us we decided so try everything on the prix fixe: Starter - broccolini and chicken bites. Bar food basically, but that's what we came for. I love me some broccolini, so that's always an ace. Chicken bites were meh - par for the course. Entree - burger medium rare please. I was overly pleased. You can tell that the meat was fresh since it didn't have the freezer taste. It was actually a great burger - way better than your counter service burger joints (the shaking of the shacks or duper of the super) Dessert - funny enough we all got the bread pudding. OMG - best bread pudding I've ever had. It literally melts in your mouth. Not sure what it is, probably the way the raisins were prepped? Would I come here again? Sure, but I wouldn't go out of my way.

This is an excellent late night spot under fairly new management. Nan and her partner are super friendly , on the floor and helping their team deliver an excellent experience. It's lively late at night with . We had the wings, calamari and fish and chips and Guinness and tequila. Great food, better drinks. A true Union sq sf

Tavern's Classic Mac and Cheese

Went for Daily Happy Hour Food - 4/5. Mac and cheese was creamy, seasoned well, and had plenty of richness from the variety of cheeses. Pasta itself had a decent bite and the bread crumbs added a crispy texture. Slider's had tender beef with a bold flavor. It was a nice medium with good sear. The bun was soft and the sriracha mayo gave it a spicy zing. Service - 4/5. Quick and attentive service. Value - 4/5. They have a limited food variety for their happy hour, but it is offered daily and has a reasonable price of $8 per item. The portions and quality of the food was fitting. Nice spot for happy hour in the middle of the city. Parking - Street/Municipal Garage (Metered)

Nice neighborhood Irish pub in Union Square area of San Fransisco decorated festively for Christmas. Sat at the bar and had friendly attentive service. Fair prices for food & beverages. Attractive interior with different intimate seating options. Nice ambiance with pleasant lighting.. Highly reccomend

Parking is a challenge in Noe Valley so it took us a few minutes to find a spot on the street approx a block away. We were warmly greeted on arrival at the restaurant by Mariana - the charming hostess, & led to our table at the far end of the restaurant. The space is not too big so the tables are strategically arranged, making it a little narrow squeeze navigating between tables when people are seated. The decor is lovely & the place has a very pleasant ambiance. Our server Marley - a friendly young man who was very accommodating of all our requests. We were presented with complimentary warm delicious bread rolls & butter. We ordered the momos, which we had read all about on the Yelp reviews, & they certainly didn't disappoint. The sauce that accompanied the momos was so delectable, I had to request for another serving of bread to sop it all up! We also ordered the charred brussel sprouts & toasted grape salad and the gems of California beets salad - both were beautifully presented & combined a delicious blend of flavors. The food was amazing, the service attentive! We didn't want to have too big of a meal since we were heading to a show at the Herbst Theatre after dinner so we didn't order entrees or desserts. We plan to go back again soon. I would recommend trying out this neighborhood gem.

The format is a fixed daily menu with two choices per course across four courses. I went with the cured salmon salad, gulf shrimp risotto, seared branzino, and milk chocolate panna cotta. Every single dish landed. The salmon was a refined, clean opener; the risotto was rich without being heavy; the branzino was perfectly seared; and the panna cotta was a quietly elegant finish. A heads up: portions are on the smaller side, but that's by design -- this is a meal meant to be savored, not rushed. Lean into it. Service was attentive and polished from start to finish, exactly what you'd hope for at this level. If a business dinner is what it takes to discover a gem like this, book more business dinners.

The team was incredible, they were so kind on a day that can be stressful for a small restaurant. We had incredible food. It seems like this place is an asian fusion brunch place incorporating french dishes into thai/asian themed dishes which is up our alley. We made a reservation at 1:45 PM and we had to wait for about an extra 30 minutes before getting seated. Initially, I wanted to try their crab fried rice but unfortunately they were out of crab. We decided to get the Alcatraz Escape and the Brioche french toast which were recommended by the wait staff. The staff was generally friendly and accommodating but I can tell they were swamped and stressed out with all the people they were trying to serve. The food itself tasted decent, the Alcatraz Escape had a tasty flavor which incorporates tom yum paste (sweet, sour, tangy flavor) into their scramble with about 4 shrimps. The side of crispy chicken was good but nothing that stood out to us. The brioche was soft but there wasn't much flavoring besides the fruits and caramelized banana. It was served with evaporated milk which made the brioche soft but not adding much flavor to it. The price however was quite pricey. For two dishes as a side we paid around $78 with tax and tip.

The produce is sourced from a tight network of local farms. But it's not as exceptional as it used to be. The San Francisco burger scene has caught up, and Nopa's burger has lost its specialness...but that doesn't mean Nopa has. Nopa opened in 2006 inside a converted bank - high ceilings, a massive bar, a communal table, just - awesome vibes. From day one it became an industry restaurant - One of the few spots in the city where you could show up late night, order off a menu that changes daily, and know the food is going to be dialed in. They specialize in wood-fired cooking, which is why their thick cut, brined pork chop with baked beans is so popular - and...it's good, but their fried chicken is quickly becoming their best seller and THAT, was PERFECT. Crispy skin, juicy underneath, seasoned beautifully. But the dish that so perfectly encapsulates what Nopa is...was this salad. Just trout, and whatever was good at the farm that week. That's Nopa. A neighborhood kitchen, cooking what's in season, for the people who live down the street, on a menu that's always changing. Twenty years in, it's still full every night. And that could have been my entire review right there.

I realized I had not added seating accommodation to my reservation and tried to call, but no one answered. When we arrived, the hostess told us we would not be able to sit in any of the currently empty booths because reservations were coming in later. We were seated at a table off the dining space near the kitchen, my mom was a little too chilly and the booth didn't have enough neck support. I expressed to the host that though I was sorry I had forgotten to add accommodation, that this was just not the way to handle the problem. I was able to speak to the manager, who had been outside taking orders and was clearly working very hard that day. (Her name is quite uncommon so I'm just going to call her M, but I really appreciate your help!) She asked me what my concern was, and I told her, at which point she asked me to wait nearby while she figured out if she could rearrange some tables for us. The bartender was incredibly kind and served me while I waited, and distracted me from imminent tears by sharing intricate details about each drink he was making. I learned do they have a myriad of health oriented cocktails, with ingredients like turmeric, ginger, and aloe liqueur. The manager returned and said that she had already seated my mother in a new space and escorted me to the table, which allowed me to relax and enjoy the meal. At the beginning of the menu, they list the ingredients that are currently in season, and at the back of the menu, there is a color wheel, telling you the benefits of the colors of food. (Purple foods can assist with memory and brain function!). We ordered the asparagus, which was in season, spicy cucumber, and the Aji grill for two. The tofu that came with the grill for two was my favorite thing that we ate. I think you can judge a vegan / vegetarian restaurant by their treatment of tofu. Perfectly seasoned with a crispy outside and I would come back just for this. The cauliflower steak was also pretty tasty. The cocktails are excellent, we tried the BLACKPINK and my mother tried the espressotini and we were really happy with both. I don't know how popular their bar scene is, but I imagine it would be a nice way to meet other vegan and vegetarian folks over light bites. Our waiter Daniel made sure to give us the Mother's Day special dessert the restaurant had created, which was an avocado Grenache with fresh berries. If the experience had started with less stress, this review would be five stars, but I'm very grateful to the staff for doing what they could to correct it and ensure that we had a great Mother's Day! I would love to visit again and update my review :)
