This has been a great find! We came for a late lunch and had the place to ourselves. The tuna was making and the mussels may have been the best I have ever had. Our waiter was top notch. We came back the following week for dinner because we had to try it again. It was much busier...of course. They have great choices that are unique and delicious. My experience here started off rocky because we got into a car accident turning into the parking lot, but the manager said to take our time and they would be able to seat us whenever we finished making the police report. The service continued to be absolutely lovely, the host and waitress were wonderful! We split an order of calamari, and had the duck and steak entrees which were delicious and perfectly cooked. The wine list is impressive and you HAVE to finish the mea with one of their homemade cellos. I can't recommend this place enough! We will be back :) read more

The menu listed muffaletta. I ordered it. What I got was nothing like any muffaletta I had ever had in Louisiana. it was a bun contain a very salt lunch meat of some time and a white gooey dressing that oozed out of the bun They should take it off the menu. read more

Reservation via telephone was a breeze and person taking booking was courteous and spoke proper English. A good start. Atmosphere is really cozy and welcoming. Server was good. It toward the end of our evening we felt as if she rushed us a little. Our food was cooked well but everything had just a little too much garlic. Overall good impression. I loved EVERYTHING about Eclipse from the quaint/cozy environment to our wonderful server Justin. I started out with grilled tomato and peach salad (delicious), my entree was a grilled NY strip steak with creamed spinach topped with mochango cheese (they made me like NY strips again, it was cooked to perfection) and I ended my meal with a Dulce Delche Moose (the only thing I didn't like on the moose was the mint, it disrupted all the goodness but once removed ). Imagine that you died and went to heaven..except you didn't die, you stepped into eclipse bistro and realized that IT IS heaven. Well, that's the experience I had. I had the calamari, the pan seared salmon and chocolate molten cake and all blew me away. I sat at the bar and was immediately greeted by a friendly server. The place itself is dimly lit, and elegantly decorated but doesn't come off as pretentious. Most patrons appeared to be in business clothes, but there were a handful of people in casual clothing (myself included).The place felt very welcoming, and there were even some people with their laptops out, getting work done at the bar. Quite possibly the best seafood meals I've ever had. In a city where there aren't many options for restaurants or anything else for that matter, this place is an absolute gem. Stopped here during a business trip to Wilmington and had lunch. All I can say is that the yelp reviews are spot on. I had an order of the petite crab cakes for an appetizer and the lobster broil for an entrée. The crab cakes were right up there with some of the best I've ever had. Very tender, not over cooked and the remoulade sauce that came with it was delicious. Pretty much perfect. The lobster broil consisted of mussels, shrimp, spicy sausage and potatoes in a fennel broth with a piece of bread. The entire thing was perfect. One of the meats could have easily been subpar compared to the others, but everything was delicious, especially the sausage. I must admit, I was skeptical about the sausage mixed in with all that seafood, but it was delicious. The broths was delicious as well and everything pretty much mixed perfectly. Hard to accomplish, but this place provided a perfect experience. Food, service and atmosphere. 100% recommended and I'll certainly be back here on my next stop in Delaware. read more

This place is solid! Great cocktails with the mixologist at the bar. Had the Orrechiette & Hot Italian Sausage which was fantastic and so was the Eclipse Burger and Wedge Salad! The kids had butter pasta and green beans which was very nicely done! If you are in town or in town for business like I was make this a stop. If here ws something I could slightly complain about is that the Crispy Baked Brie is a good concept, but it is small and if you have 4 people this will not work for you. This place is an absolute delight! Just lovely everything- staff, atmosphere, food and drinks. My boyfriend and i both had such a nice time here dining in. We had the bolognese, chicken, side of grits, along with a spot of tea. The chicken was cooked to perfection and the sauce was so tasty- the first bbq sauce that ive actually enjoyed and didnt find to be too overwhelming. The potato side dish that it came with was so great that i could probably eat it every day if i was able to. The staff were so very friendly, welcoming and knowledgable. Coming from NYC, i can tell you that the items on the menu are well worth the price. Been to many places that charge similar prices and dont offer half the quality of eclipse bistro. The meal at Eclipse was excellent, and a surprise find in the Wilmington, DE area. I went to the restaurant with a large group and found every item on the menu to be well prepared and fresh. I ordered the large crab cake entree as my main dish, and substituted French fries with an arugula salad, which was delicious. We started with a charcuterie and cheese plate and calamari, both good. The desserts were the big hit of the evening; everything was freshly prepared in the kitchen. I had a blueberry cobbler with ice cream on top, and definitely recommend it. The restaurant is pricey, but it's a great "special occasion" place. When I'm in Wilmington again will definitely check this place out. read more

The only shocker was a friend convincing my to try grappa - I won't be doing THAT again, but the gelatto chaser was divine! Picked an unknown bottle of wine that was a winner, though! Traveled all day from California to Philadelphia and then drove for an hour to get here. I was immensely rewarded for my travels. I started off with the Steamed Mussels. It was a pleasant surprise to get a heaping bowl of tender mussels swimming in a delicous tomato broth flecked with what appeared to be crumbled bacon. I eagerly plucked every morsel out of its shell and devoured them along with the broth and the super crispy toast points. Next was the braised lamb shank. It was perfectly cooked and tender served with an extra saucer of sauce. The meat was fork tender and I wished for a mallet to get to the marrow. To close out the meal, it was all about the molten chocolate cake. This is not a very well written review and I am being distracted by some weird cellphone zombie movie with John Cusack... Why is he doing this movie?!?!? Oh well, eclipse is definitely worth traveling across country. read more

So the team was in Delaware on a project and we wanted to have a gathering for dinner with good food and good drinks. The team did a bit of searching and we landed upon Eclipse Bistro as our choice for dinner. We called ahead and were able to lock in a reservation for our party of 8 and made our way over for dinner. The restaurant itself has a small parking lot to the right of it and the inside of the joint is quaint with a cozy setting. There is a bar and there are also plenty of tables to fill out the room. We were quickly greeted at the door and seated promptly at our table. We were given menus and given the size of our team we decided to order an array of food. The bar is well stocked and has options which led me to my macallan's as per uze. After perusing, we decided to go with the calamari, the lamb meatballs, and the tartare for our appetizers. Everyone ordered their own dishes with myself going for the ribeye. The service was good and prompt and I never had an empty glass without the question of "would you like another". The appetizers came out quickly and all of them were good. There was enough variety to satisfy some of the picky eaters at the table. The calamari was crispy on the outside (although I wish slightly less batter), the meatballs were tender and had good flavoring to it and the tartare was standard good as well. The ribeye was good with the porcini butter and was cooked to the right temperature requested. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their assortment of dishes which included the scallops, the salmon, the chicken, the Bolognese, and the list goes on. We all enjoyed our dishes and thought they were all good. Definitely a good spot to enjoy for atmosphere, variety of food, ,and taste especially while in this area of town. read more

My family and dined at Eclipse Bistro to celebrate my brother's recent successes at his law firm. We had a large party. The establishment was very accommodating. They even provided a special menu for the occasion. Overall the food was amazing and well above my expectations. One thing that stood out to me the most was our waiters patients with my young son, niece and nephew. He was really attentive and brought them all the bread they wanted. I was very pleased with his willingness to make the dining experience special for everyone. I will definitely return to this establishment. read more

This was our first visit here. The gentleman who was at the front door I think may have been the owner was super friendly taking us to our table! The atmosphere is very intimate and perfect for a date night with someone special. Our waiter was amazing! He was friendly and knew everything there was about the menu! Food, wine, an excellent martini, and ambience, but the high quality service made Eclipse our new favorite restaurant. I love me some Eclipse Bistro. It's just the right amount of pretentious. They care about their food deeeeply, and every bite is jam-packed with flavor, style and panache. Their waiters (is it just me, or are they all exceptionally cute and gay?) know the menus, and most of them have been serving there for years. This speaks volumes. They won't get their panties in a bunch if you accidentally use the wrong fork... So yeah: just the right amount of pretentious. Their flatbread appetizer with with blue cheese crumbles, fig jam, and caramelized onions is simply wonderful. Simple, elegant, nom. The grown-up beverages are expertly mixed and are deceptively strong. If you're undecided, tell the bartender to surprise you; you will not be let down. Normally I don't give out 5, but given the location (Wilmington, Delaware), service, price, atmosphere and taste, this place deserves it. This was my second visit, and if I ever find myself in Wilmington, definitely not my last. We had a large group and ordered many many dishes. Here's a breakdown of some of them... Apps Mushrooms on toast - delicious! Mushrooms had a nice, warm smokiness that made these a hit Crispy Calamari - I appreciated the creativity (spicy mayo, capers and olives - I love olives) but I hate mayo. Crab cakes - these things are gold. They break apart so easily, moist and tender and the accompanying sauce was a classic. Cheese - pretty standard fare, nothing sticks out except for the tasty marmalade and honey which comes with it. Entrees Organic chicken - delicious crispy (albeit a touch over seasoned) skin, decent moisture (but not melt in your mouth, which is very difficult to do with chicken, but I've seen it done), really really good jus, and the wilted spinach and red mash on the side were amazing. Last visit I had the Lamb Sirloin, which was a touch dry, but the sides (Israeli couscous and veg) made up for it. I also tried the standard seared Duck, and the Duck special - both were really good, but the special wins the day, hands down. A touch salty, but Duck is usually fatty ( = salty) so this is somewhat expected. Dessert Raspberry sorbet - same thing I ordered last time; light, refreshing, fruity, always a hit I also tried the smores which (having had it last time as well) I really recommend. Not too marshmallowy, just enough graham cracker and sweetness. Paired with the cool sorbet, this is a double whammy. The service was very friendly, they topped our wines and waters promptly, and stayed open as late as we were there (given we were the last ones there on a quiet Tuesday night). I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants a bit of fine dining in Wilmington, without resorting to standard, overpriced Steak/fish chains. read more

Class without the stuffiness of many east coast eateries, Eclipse was the best of my restaurant visits in Wilmington (read: only restaurant), and still managed to impress. The entrée was a Portuguese fish whose name I asked the server to repeat to me twice, though I still was not able to find mention of online, so he may have been making it up or I may have misheard him. Anyway, it came in an escabeche sauce that was spot on, and over a simple corn, asparagus, and serrano ham hash that paired excellently with the fish. I wasn't normally an eater of fish skin, but given the deep, crisp texture paired against the soft and tender fish, I couldn't not eat it. I made a special trip up to Wilmington, and I put a lot of thought in to choosing the one restaurant at which I would dine during my visit. I didn't choose poorly. read more

Don't judge a restaurant by it's cover. Judge it by the food. All we could say after the meal was just how good the food was here and how pleasantly surprised. From the looks of the restaurant, it appears to be a very casual new American bistro joint. However, the food shown beyond what we saw. We ordered: Mini Crab cakes - These crab are juicy. Of all the crab cakes I've had, these are the first to be: (a) not crunchy at all, (b) feels like it melts in your mouth as you eat them, and (c) full of flavor. I did not really need to add the sauces. Caprese - Comes with green and red tomatoes and they add leaves of basil on the dish. The mozarella was good enough as a stand alone app. Very well marinated and dressed. Pappardelle - HUGE HUGE plate. Can I say HUGE? The noodles are well cooked and there is a good balance in the portion of meat/sauce/ noodle. Pork Bracole - There is a theme with the pork. All the pork dishes we had were extremely well cooked so that it remains juicy and tender. Pork Loin (Special) - It was not only the pork but the peppers and the polenta that really made that dish shine. We were so full that we did not order dessert. Yes, a shocker...
