I sat at the bar when I came to eat a solo dinner while in town for work. I had the Gilded Garden and an Aperol spritz. The Gilded Garden was a good balance of the Hendricks and St Germaine and was quite tasty. The Aperol spritz was good too, if you like them. I ordered the crab cake. I enjoyed it, though picky crab cake eaters may not like the amount of filler. I'm not an expert on them, so I enjoyed it. The saffron risotto served with was cooked well and very cheesy (very - if you don't like cheese, you should probably pick a different side option). The sauce was tasty and asparagus was good as well. The bartenders stayed busy but service was at a good pace for me and you could tell there were regulars there. I will say that it was warm in the front room - I think the AC was struggling to keep up because it was almost 100 degrees out. I don't think this is a huge issue as the temperatures were fairly unusual, but just as a heads up. read more

Food is delicious, Salmon was really good, the risotto was rich and creamy. Everything came out super hot. The salmon was cooked perfectly. Big and delicious. My friend had the short rib and she liked it a lot, the tropical siesta was delicious drink. Complimentary peanut butter cookies at the end, I think they are just food service cookies heated up but still good! Bathroom kind of dirty. And the ambiance in the front room with the bar is cuter than the rest of the place. Rest of the place is more low lit and lacking decoration. We paid about 55 a person including tip for a meal and a drink. We are not from Delaware and it was cool there was no tax (though I think they add it to the prices ahead of time). read more

I want to preface this by saying all of my experiences with Corner Bistro have been carryout and I would still very much like to eat in the restaurant. We've probably done carryout from here 20-25 times (maybe 4-5 times a year over the last X years) and I would definitely do it again. The salmon here is generally outstanding and I've also enjoyed the shortrib and the roasted chicken. The kids chicken tenders are also delicious when left uneaten by a kid or a friend's kid. My one comment is that the burger is pretty good, but not amazing, and the appetizers have been a bit saltier than the other food. read more

This is Delaware's top fine dining establishment. Whenever I bring friends back home I take them out to dinner here. The baked brie is always a great way to start off a meal. Brie baked into slices of bread. Like a fancy little pizza. You can dip in either a sweet berry sauce or a savory tomato based sauce. I like to alternate between the two. The must have entree is the beef short rib. There is nothing quite as tender as the short rib here. You could cut it with a spoon. Desserts here are all very good. My favorite is the sea salt caramel budino. So many rich and creamy layers of goodness resting on top of a base of Oreo crumble. Great servers. Great food. Great atmosphere. We just ordered takeout and it was just ok. We wanted it to be good, because we've been there a lot for lunch, but the portions were disappointing for the price. I was going to go some where else for dinner when I happen to see the Corner Bistro on Yelp. I read the menu and knew I had to give it a try. The restaurant is adorable. It has a simple, yet elegant design and decorations. My server, Kelsey, was wonderful. Very accommodating when I told her I didn't enjoy spinach, she let me substitute asparagus. I had the French onion soup, which maybe the best French onion soup I have ever had. It had so much flavor and so much cheese. It does have bacon, so vegans beware, but if you were going to cheat, it would be worth it. I then had the short ribs with asparagus and the sauce was outrageously good. The short ribs were soft and tender and the asparagus was perfect. When the check is presented, you get a homemade chocolate chip cookie. The only cookies I ever get with the check usually have a fortune in them, so this was a nice touch. I HiGHLY recommend the corner bistro! read more

We had a family dinner here recently for my birthday and had a wonderful time. The service was great despite our group of 5 adults and 2 toddlers, one of whom was a bit on the cranky side. Turned out he was just hungry and once he started grubbing, he was fine. Anyway, 3 of us had the short ribs and 2 had the salmon. The short ribs were very good, but the tamarind sauce was a bit on the tangy side for me. That didn't stop me from eating it though. I also enjoyed a really tasty salad with candied pecans and gorgonzola (it comes with goat cheese but I seriously don't know how anyone eats that nasty stuff so I subbed gorgonzola). We ended the meal with some yummy desserts. I think mine was called a bubino or something like that. It was very good - layers of whipped cream, caramel, custard, cookie crust - and very sweet. I've been here a few times for the happy hour and sat at the bar. I enjoyed having cocktails and apps and wanted to come back for dinner. My husband and I came for a date night, and sat in the dining room area (see pic). The music was a little loud, and couldn't hear sometimes. We sat for about 15 min before the server came over, after I said something. He was clearing plates and taking other tables orders as we sat there. He was apologetic but still, come on, it wasn't even that crowded. We ordered drinks, cheese plate, and dinners. It took a while for the drinks to come out but the specialty drink I ordered was a nice twist (chocolate covered pretzel martini). The cheese plate was mediocre, and we love a good cheese plate.... So yeah, could have more flavor or anything to spruce it up. I got the Niçoise salad with tuna, egg, tomato, asparagus and a mustard vinaigrette. Again mediocre to eh. The tuna was over cooked, dry and not that good. My husband got the ravioli and thought it was good but nothing special. Overall I wanted it to be more and came out middle of the road. read more

I really want to like this place --- it's adorable and convenient to where I live, but I've just never been that impressed. We stopped in on a recent Friday night because we had a gift card to use. There was plenty of seating, and we were placed in a smaller back room that we had to ourselves for much of our dinner. The atmosphere is classy but still casual and our server was friendly and appropriately attentive. We started out with cocktails, both of which sounded delightful on paper: I ordered the Ginger Pear, which was seemingly flavorless despite supposedly containing ginger simple syrup and lemon. My fiancee ordered the pumpkin spiced Old Fashioned which was just okay. Neither of us was enthusiastic enough for a 2nd round. For our meal, we split a few items. The highlight of the meal was the salmon entree. The fish was perfectly seared and seasoned, and the lemon risotto side was tasty. The burrata starter was good, but nothing out of the ordinary, and the beet salad was good as well. We didn't indulge on this particular occasion, but historically we have loved the budino for dessert --- creamy and delicious! They do serve a free baked sweet with the check, so we did get to try a chocolate chip cookie despite declining dessert. Overall, it was a decent meal --- I'm just never mind-blown. This is one of my favorite places to dine in the Wilmington area! They have great outdoor dining seating, as well as a very classy and cute internal decor. I've never had to wait for a table, but in my opinion this place should be popping off. For brunch I highly recommend the crispy French toast. The crispy texture really puts it over the top, and it comes with a delicious caramel sauce on the side. The lobster and shrimp roll is also a great choice, they really stuff that potato roll full of large chunks of lobster and shrimp. For dinner, we always like to start off with the baked brie which comes with both a savory and sweet dipping sauce. We tried the cheese plate once and the slices of toasted baguette were rock hard, plus I am not a blue cheese fan, so I would not get that again. For entrees you can't go wrong with the short rib which was tender and melt in your mouth. Their dessert options are divine, I loved the salted caramel budino and key lime pie. I highly recommend this place to anyone searching for good food in the north Wilmington area! I did not know about this restaurant before today. There aren't many restaurants in North Wilmington that are farm fresh and use sustainably grown ingredients. The decor and atmosphere was amazing! Everything was fresh and simple yet very beautiful. Everyone greeted us as we walked in and were friendly throughout our dinner. The soup was very pepper forward but delicious. There was also huge lumps of crab! The tacos were spicy but had pickled onions and slaw to calm them down. The rice that came with the tacos was okay- nothing exciting. We also got cookies with our check which is a fun bonus. The only two things I can say about this place that I didn't love was the bathroom being a foot or so away from the bar and that there was no social distancing at the bar at all. I came to the Corner Bistro on a Sunday evening after Costco grocery shopping.. and have to say I was debating on posting because I hope this place is hyper successful but I'd like to also keep them a hidden gem as well (sorry, local PA / DE dweller so..). From the get go, friendly and welcoming reception by Sarah and Johnny who was behind the bar. Food wise, menu is well balanced and the kitchen is quick and tasty. Dishes a bit on the hotter side are my preference but it temperature was good enough. Tried a beer (Peroni is always a good choice) and the Boneshaker Zinfandel for the main. Both beverages were really good. Dinner wise, the beet salad is really good and tasty and I was lucky to get the last special of crab cake and risotto with asparagus. Great flavors and presentation, balanced seasoning and really good and varied options in the menu for every taste! Finally, one of the few things I love more than food is music, so the ambience and the music of this place is absolutely perfect for a dinner date or night. Staff is friendly and diligent, all in all a great place that I look forward to return for lunch with work colleagues! read more

Food is great though their portions are not particularly large. Still the price-value is great. Love the black bean soup and hoisin meatballs. The ambiance is good --we have a favorite booth in the back that is cozy and like home. The other seating is not all that great though and the lighting is a little dim. The bathrooms are clean but pretty small and super close to the unfriendly bar (see below). The service is good --BUT the wait staff are not all that outgoing. I took my wife to dinner here last night. We hadn't been here in years. It's a little dark inside. So she had to use her phone to read the menu. She ordered the fish tacos. Off the limited menu. They were by far the worst fish tacos I've ever seen in my life. I have never seen cod that color brown. We obviously had to send it back. Had brunch today and it was fantastic! I sat in the bar area, which was very nice. The bartender was very friendly and did a terrific job. I came in during a small rush and she kept up with all the customers and delivered solid service. The Crab and Red Pepper bisque was to die for. I literally don't think I put my spoon down until I saw the bottom of the bowl. The shrimp and lobster roll was decent, but I bet there are better items on the menu. This place is tucked away a bit from Rte 202. I have been here a few times and have found it a bit on the pricey side. Today I wanted something different so I stopped by for brunch. The mimosa was nice leaning a bit more on the champagne flavor. I went for the crab and red pepper bisque which has a nice creamy texture to it. Next was the crepes which was served with braised short ribs. Loved the savoriness to this dish but was a little surprised that the crepes were sweet as well. The sweet crepes through off this dish. I finished my experience with the key lime pie, which I enjoyed the lime flavor and texture of the filling. The crust was extra thick at the end which gave a nice finish to the meal. read more

Recently, after making our order selection online, I called to verify our selections were gluten free due to my wife's allergy. Yelpers came through on this one! I really liked Corner Bistro! While visiting Wilmington for work, I wanted to grab a bite from somewhere local. I avoid chains at all costs. Listening to the previous reviews, I ventured in. What a super cute and charming place! Being cold out, it was the perfect amount of cozy. The place was packed for lunch which is always a good sign. Perusing the menu, it took me forever to decide as everything sounded awesome! I ended up with the black bean soup and a wedge salad. Both were fantastic but I have to say that soup really stood out. It's hearty flavors mixed with the creme fraiche created the perfect consistency. It was a delicious option on a chilly day. The wedge had a healthy amount of bacon and other fixin's to compliment what is typically bland iceberg lettuce. The service was excellent and friendly and the prices completely reasonable for the quality of their food. I don't know if or when I'll be back to Wilmington but I will definitely come back to Corner Bistro when I get the chance. read more
