I love this place. The food is yummy and the service is great. The patio is cute--and very dog-friendly. They've got a nice variety of salads and pasta dishes as well as my favorite traditional chicken enchiladas. It's definitely worth a try! read more

Yummmm....every bite was fresh and delicious and the service was friendly and prompty. This place is surprisingly busy even after the main lunch rush. Decor is a little dated but you don't need to focus on that with the extensive menu and fast delivery. Would definitely go back butmight shy away on a weekend for fear of overcrowding. read more

We came because it was within walking distance of our hotel. We'd come back because it was fabulous! The quiche Lorraine was every bit as good as what I make at home - lots of flavor and their crust was way better than mine. The salads were fresh and... eclectic! We'd not had sunflower sprouts before, but these were very tasty. A reasonably priced half-liter carafe of wine rounded out the meal perfectly. Speedy and pleasant service hit it out of the park. read more

Eclectic Cafe - New American Near Me - Tucson, Arizona

I went here for a weekday lunch. I ordered the mango tea which was delicious - light mango flavor, no artificial sweetener, it was great. And I asked for a to-go cup to take some back to work with me, and I was presented with a HUGE 32 oz cup! I ordered a half ham sandwich with tomato bisque soup (the soup of the day). The soup was tasty, and so was the sandwich. Nothing to write home about, but it was good. The mustard that comes with the sandwich, however, was not good at all. I was warned that it was "spicy", but it really wasn't - it was just horseradishy, and tasted nothing like mustard at all. Thank goodness it came on the side, and didn't ruin my sandwich. The service was great - never an empty glass, and it was very quick! Even though it's a sit down place, we were in and out within an hour. I want to give it 3.5 stars, but I can't quite award Eclectic Cafe 4 because of the gross mustard incident. read more

Damn good Mexican food finally! Wouldn't have thought I'd find it here but what do you know? Had the shredded beef chimichangas and chicken enchiladas, muy bueno! The beans were delicious and the meat was juicy. The portions were huge, the atmosphere is quaint and the service is very friendly. Can't wait to go back and try some of their other dishes because the menu is expansive. read more

The Eclectic Cafe at Sabino Canyon Rd & Tanque Verde is a small treasure on Tucson's eastside. My favorites include the soups--gazpacho, Mexican tortilla or on Fridays clam chowder--the Ruben sandwich and strawberry salad. For dessert try the bread pudding. Open for brunch Saturday & Sunday, I can recommend without reservation the Monte Cristo, chorizo burro with tomatillo sauce and the huevos rancheros. The service is outstanding and the atmosphere friendly. Indoor or outdoor dinning is available. Waits are sometimes required but well worth it. read more

Average service, average decor, totally average food. Not terrible.....just average. We got the chicken walnut/strawberry salad and some beef enchiladas. You could make the salad at home and find better Mexican food at approximately 1400 different places in Tucson. For cheaper, too! read more

When we walked in I thought ....oops! I was so wrong. The food was terrific! The flavor was off the chart delicious! Fresh ingredients all the way and food came to the table hot and ready. Don't let the "old diner" look fool u - this place is a must! read more

We went to eclectic this morning for what we expected to be a nice breakfast at a local favorite. The restaurant was hardly busy yet we were not greeted to find seating and had to flag a hostess down who wasn't particularly welcoming. We were seated and waited not too long for drinks but when our waiter finally showed up he just abruptly asked "are you ready? What do you want?" He was rude during the ordering process and checked on us once the entire time. Our food was sub par at best; one order being under cooked and stale tasting and one order being bland at best. We are not picky diners by any means but were disgusted when we finally received the check which made it appear to be that we were over charged. While we normally would return to an establishment for a second try, we were so disappointed in our experience that we will not be back read more

In my opinion, this is a very reliable choice. True to its name, the menu is varied. The quality of the food is very good. The only issue is that, if seated inside, the noise level is high. I took a guest there this week for lunch and he responded very favorably to the menu and enjoyed his choice. The service was efficient and the server attentive. I recommend it if you are looking for a good restaurant on the east side. read more

While traveling in the Southwest, we came here for dinner after a recommendation. We loved it. My husband liked the burros, and I loved the chicken crepes. We came back the next night and I got veggies and grilled chicken on pasta, he had another burro. It made our short trip to Tucson very nice. Thanks! read more

I, personally, love this place. Just happened upon it on the way to Sabino Canyon, and so glad we did. Coming from the east coast (NJ), I found it hard to find super fresh food plus a slightly unusual menu in Tucson. This place affords both. I had the quiche and salad special a couple of times and a very "eclectic salad" my third time here. All were fabulous. The sandwiches and salads (full order) are on the more expensive side, but it beats any fast food or diner experience around. So, well worth the extra few bucks. I would frequent this place if I lived close by. read more

I have been to this place a couple of times now and I cannot say I will ever come back. The service by this one waitress (which I had both times) was not inefficient but very unpleasant. On both occasions she seemed irritated to serve us which did not make for a positive dining experience. In fact, I could not wait to get out of there. To me, it is never a good sign when you look at the door waiting for your check to come so you can run as fast as you can out of there. My food on the first visit was good but not great but my friend had a turkey sandwich make from real roasted turkey. I wanted to try it as a reuben so we went back. I was not thrilled. It was very small for a $9 sandwich and it came with no fries or side. It did not taste great or bad. It was just ok. I did not feel I got my moneys worth out of it for sure. If I want a reuben in the future I will go across the street and eat at Canyon's Crown Pub. Much better sandwich even with the deli turkey then Eclectics. On a positive note - their tea was good. The mac and cheese was awesome but still not worth coming back there to deal with the service. read more

I've been to the Eclectic Cafe now 4 time. Every time I go I get great service and even better food. The staff is always so friendly and helpful, and the food is to die for. Always tastes fresh and delicious. Love this place!!! read more

I have been going to The Eclectic Cafe since I was born. The food is outstanding along with the service. There is something for the whole family! To top that off the pricing is very reasonable! By far one of my favorites. read more

Just discovered this place today. It was packed at lunchtime on a Wednesday so I knew they must be doing something right! I ordered the prickly pear iced tea & the grilled eggplant, hummus & bacon salad w poppyseed dressing. The salad arrived quickly w a fresh baked crusty roll. Unusual salad to say the least & the bread was wonderful. Loved the tea also. I would highly recommend this restaurant. read more

Eclectic Cafe - Grilled Eggplant Salad w Prickly Pear tea - New American Near Me - Tucson, Arizona

Had a very good reasonably priced lunch yesterday. Extensive menu selection with attractive and fresh salads that we had for lunch. Service was good. However, we sat on the "patio" which is essentially sidewalk outside restaurant but the "patio" is partitioned from parking lot and misters provide a comfortable seating area - until a small dog on the patio peed on a standing urn on the patio - small dog small pee. Ten minutes later a large dog peed in same spot (as dogs do) and the resulting large amount of pee was running down the patio/sidewalk as we ate our lunch. Not nice at all. I alerted restaurant staff to pee puddle on patio which they promptly cleaned up. If having dog on a restaurant patio is not a violation of Tucson health code - it should be. In any event NO restaurant should allow dogs on an outdoor patio. Dogs are trained to pee/poop outdoors and outdoor patio is "outdoors" to them. Please, Eclectic management "NO DOGS" on patio. Other diners were also offended by seeing dog pee running down the patio floor! read more

My wife and I and another couple ate dinner at Eclectic last evening. We all have been eating there for about 30 years now, since the place first opened. We sat outdoors since the weather was so nice. But now you are allowing people to bring their dogs to the restaurant and that pretty much destroyed our experience. Number one, I can not imagine that that is not a health code violation. Number two, in two cases there were dog fights where the owners were struggling to keep the dogs separate. In another case a dog barked for about 50% of the time we were there. In yet another case a couple had their dogs water bowl on the floor and the dog was splashing water all over and shaking it's head. We will not be dining there again which is sad after so many years of good food both there and at Franks. Of course it is your prerogative to allow such behavior and perhaps catering the needs of people with separation disorders is more important to your business model, that is entirely up to the owners. read more

This place is fantastic. I came here for dinner with my family and we ordered the Sonoran Dog with fries, eggplant tahini salad with grilled chicken instead of bacon, and chicken fajitas. Although the dishes were pricey, the food came in large portions and it all seemed super fresh! The Chicken fajitas were outstanding and so flavorful! It came with fresh guacamole, tangy sour cream, warm beans, and yummy tortillas. The salad was also very delicious. I didn't care for the poppy seed dressing because it was a bit too sweet, but the salad tasted great without any dressing. The salad also came with a fluffy and delicious sourdough roll. The only reason why I would give this place a 4 star is because of the prices and the sonoran hotdog. The hotdog looked great and it came with fries. The only problem was that it was way too salty, making it hard to eat. The flavor and taste was still spot on, but it was just too salty. In addition to having fantastic food, our waitress was very kind and welcoming. She really made our experience more enjoyable with her cheery attitude. Overall I would recommend coming here and I will certainly be back in the future! read more

Stuffed French toast omg. Amazing service, as we were paying our check the bus boy handed me a coffee to go. Which I really needed.

My siblings and spouses had a reunion of sorts here at the Café. A group of 6 - they took reservations but could only accommodate us outside. The heaters were on and I was perfectly fine. Everyone seemed to enjoy it and we weren't jammed in with others. If I have a complaint - its that they offer TOO MUCH on the menu, hahaha. Its so hard to choose. My sis always gets the salad (with strawberries). Anyway, everyone was happy with their dinner and drinks. I think this place appeals to every taste. Not fine dining but very nice, casual. read more

Although this restaurant has been in Tucson for quite some time as I have, my first experience was quite good. However, upon my second visit, I was disappointed to find out that they are not so green and REQUIRES that a coupon to be printed. This really ruined my second visit (as my boyfriend was extremely displeased) and I highly doubt that I will be making a third return. Their food is not ALL that unique and great to warrant not pleasing the customer. read more

This was a dreadful experience start to finish. The seating was uncomfortable and an odd smell permeated the restaurant. After perusing the menu at length and finding nothing appealing I settled on the quiche lorraine as a potentially "safe" choice. At least one of the main ingredients had clearly gone completely off (and it's telling that it was impossible to say whether it was the bacon, eggs or cheese), and to top it all off it had clearly been microwaved, leaving the crust soggy and the filling with a rubbery texture. My companion had a half-sandwich and cup of soup. As other reviewers have noted, the soup was very small even as cups go and the surface looked downright oily. The sandwich was skimpy and very haphazardly plated. Not going back anytime soon... read more

Healthy selection of salads and mainly Mexican food, also sandwiches and soups. A casual friendly popular diner. Tacos were loaded vegetables therefore were the healthiest tacos I have ever been presented. Salsa was very mild. Some hot sauces would have been welcomed.Service was very friendly and professional. Delicious lime mousse for dessert. It is evident they care and are trying to do a good job. read more

Their turkey sandwich is the best - made with real white turkey breast meat that you can tell they cooked themselves. And their Mexican food is really good too! Went their with the in-laws and the menu offers something for everyone. It's hard to spot if you don't know the area/shopping center where it is located, but worth looking for. Did I mention how awesome their French fries are? read more

Delicious food, fantastic service and because we were staying at the Comfort Suites of Sabino Canyon close by to the restaurant, we got a 10% discount on our meal. Would definitely visit again if in the area. read more

I was really underwhelmed when I ate here. The food is meager in quantity, and the service is nothing to boast about. The quality of the food is also pretty drab. The quiche tastes old and mucky, and the salad that comes along with it consists of two leaves of lettuce,a sprout, and a drop of mayonnaise on top. It seemed like the waitress we had wanted to argue with us, and the manager wasn't any friendlier. I decided that I would give the place another chance and visited it for a second time, only to find a cockroach the size of a Pinto scuttling across my table. I'm trying to give this place the benefit of the doubt, but it's really hard. All in all, this place wasn't a really great experience. read more

food is better than ok . pretty good diner food. I especially like the mango curry chicken salad. agreeable service.

Stopped in for a quick bite, and ordered the tortilla soup. It came out super fast and was delicious - with nice big slices of avocado. Great friendly service to! read more

The wine is good quality, for $7 a glass your paying for it. The food is fantastic, exceptional enchiladas, good salsa, lots of cheese. The service is spotty, though, and the people clearing the tables make an unbelievable racket that startled my friend and I several times during our dinner. Actually, it was just one person, clearing the tables who threw the dishes into the dishpan with gusto. Our server, however, was charming and just attentive enough during dinner. He was very busy when we arrived and we waited about 10 minutes after being seated to be offered drinks. Would definitely go again and recommend to others. Busy on weekends. read more

In case anybody is driving around Sabino Canyon and Tanque Verde and are hungry, there is this little place called "The Eclectic Cafe", my wife and I went there today and didn't even make it to our food coming out of the kitchen before leaving. There was a swarm of flies in the place and I honestly believe that we could have received better service from a burnt waffle rather than the waste of oxygen that graced us with his presence. We decided that we would just get the food "to-go" and I guess that made this cave-man angry and he threw our food in the bag like an ape. Once we returned to our house to have a nice breakfast, we discovered that not only was the food thrown in the bag, making a mess of it but, it was the wrong order. Thanks a lot for bringing such joy to my life and making this morning so eventful!! We went to this place because somebody recommended it to us as a nice place to go to have a relaxing morning, I now question that persons ability to make decisions and hope nobody else EVER has to deal with this atrocity of a cafe and feel as violated as I do. That being said, if you are into that type of place then, by all means, go there and enjoy the horror. read more

After experiencing a bad dinner and discussing it with the manager I feel I must change my rating of the Eclectic. We have been coming here for over 10 years but will not return. After having a very poor dining experience and all the manager would do is say well the next time you come in I'll by you desert my confidence in them is gone. He had the opportunity to make it right at the time but did nothing. The salmon was over cooked and my wine glass dirty from previous use. Sorry Eclectic too many other places that want to please and understand the value of a customer. read more

When you live in Austin, TX and are giving a surprise party in Tucson, call the Eclectic! Mark and Jason took complete care of me! The catered food was delish, they got me a wonderful decorated cake, the person they sent to serve ended up being my parents favorite waitress from the cafe! All in all, the party was wonderful and everyone wanted the name of my caterer. Thanks guys and of course Tammy! See you next time we are in town. read more

This was our first time here on a whim. I was excited because I have heard nothing but great things. We looked at both the breakfast and lunch menu, and there sure were a lot of choices. Classic American, Mexican, and Italian. I'm a huge breakfast food fan, so when I saw the zucchini bread french toast, and there were only a certain amount served per day, I was all in. My husband ordered the machaca burrito, and my son had the kids chicken fingers. My meal was good, but not great, it tasted more just like zucchini bread than french toast style, and a few edges were a little too well done. My husband's burrito was humongous, and was served with chicillias, definitely not spelled correctly. He said the burrito was just good. I tried the chicillad, and it was super dry, and couldn't really figure out what the heck I was eating at first, he didn't say he didn't like it, but he left it on his plate. My son's chicken fingers were good, but the fries looked nice and crispy, but when you but into them they were greasy, and a bit mushy. The only drink we had was one cup of coffee, which I only had a sip of, and it was just meh. Our server was attentive and we had our food fast! I didn't pay too much attention to prices, and my husband paid the bill. When I was online later on that day I noticed the charge on our credit card of almost $44, I thought that can't be right. Well, I guess it was since I called and verified. For just ok tasting food it was expensive, especially 2 breakfast plates, a kids meal, and one cup of coffee. Unfortunately I won't be going back there. read more

We visit every time we go to Tucson. Love the chicken fruit salad and the fries are the best Ive ever had. Never had a problem with the service even on weekends read more

This is a good place to go for a decent meal. They offer a reasonable array of offerings. If you like pasta and want something different, go for Mark's Chicken Chorizo. If you want a lighter bill of fair, try the pasta with grilled veges. They have a different quiche every day with a side salad that's very filling. And, they ALWAYS have a coupon in Valpack or other local mailings for 1/2 off one entree with the purchase of one entree. We like to go to Eclectic regularly when we just don't feel like cooking. Their tortilla soup is amongst the best we've had. read more

love this local fav! The chilequilas are a great side dish to any of their tasty choices. And boy do they have a lot to choose from! The zucchini bread french toast is really good. The side of fruit was a little disappointing but the french toast was so great I didn't need the side. Their breakfast burros are large and full of stuff. Every dish is really filling without being completely overwhelming which I enjoy. Great location - especially to hit after a nice hike up Sabino Canyon! read more
