You don't need to be staying at the Breakers to enjoy Echo but if you are, it's just a five-minute shuttle ride to pan-asian bliss. The atmosphere at Echo is subdued and sophisticated with dark woods, romantic booths and well-set tables. Outside seating provides an air of Palm Beach when weather permits. The service was perfect from greeting to good-bye. As for the food, it was five-stars for selection, presentation and sheer deliciousness. Now, it is very possible that I was swayed by the presence of the most beautiful and delightful dining companion ever - the woman I married the day before. Then again, room service was nowhere near as good so I know that my discerning Yelp taste-buds were still firing on all cylinders. We started with vegetable tempura and wonton soup which sounds very pedestrian but it was not. The vegetable tempura was made of very fresh red bell pepper, asparagus, broccoli, sweet potato, eggplant and onion. The batter was light and tasty and the soy-ginger dipping sauce must have been fresh-made. The wonton soup featured small, delicate dumplings with a sweet, mild broth, generous slices of pork and green onions. We both had the Miso Sea Bass. Marinated in mirin wine, the sea bass was sweet (maybe a tad bit too sweet but I still would order it again ... and again) and presented with extremely thin, candied, delicate slices of bonita. These fish shavings provided interest to the plate and more sweetness to every bite. The sea bass was perfectly cooked, hard to achieve for such tender fish. We were given a choice of white, brown or fried rice. We had it served with brown rice which was full-grained and again, perfectly cooked. We loved our food but the best was yet to come. We had pre-ordered a chocolate M&M soufflé. When it came to the table, I think both of our mouths dropped open with tongues wagging. This was a masterpiece of presentation and truly fine dining. The soufflé was airy and chocolatey. Melted throughout the cloud-like soufflé were melted chips of chocolate and m&ms. Even if you come only for this dessert, your trip to Echo would be worthwhile and memorable. We loved our experience at Echo and I highly recommend. Though we didn't partake this evening, sushi lovers should be on notice that Echo appears to have true itamae with great skill and the restaurant purportedly does sushi very well. Also on the menu are various dim sum, mushu of the day and other creative small dishes ("Wind"). The entrees also include land dishes ("Earth") of duck, wagyu beef, chicken and pork. "Fire" dishes include open-flame wok selections. "Water" includes our sea bass, salmon, halibut and other fishy things. There are also noodle dishes and more shared plates. Also featured is a price-fixe dinner for parties of two or more. All in all, Echo doesn't miss a beat and keeps reverberating tastiness. read more

While spending a few days at The Breakers resort, I decided to try this restaurant located a short shuttle ride away. Upon our arrival we noticed how loud it was inside, but we weren't put off by it, we instead opted to sit outside. Service & atmosphere: While waiting our turn to speak to the hostess, someone dropped a glass near the bar. The glass shattered and flew so far that some of it hit my foot where I was standing near the entrance. I assumed the staff would come over and address all the glass on the floor and I would be able to tell them that the glass had reached the front door, but the situation was ignored for several minutes. Not the hostess or any other servers in the area came over to clean or block the area. Meanwhile, other patrons walked in and walked over the glass. I felt like this was really dangerous because we were all wearing sandals, and this was an accident waiting to happen. When the hostess did come over, she just stared at me when i told her that the glass had flown all the way to the door. I was ready to leave then because i was getting a bad feeling about the staff and their priorities and their lack of customer service awareness. (In the hour and a half we were there, we saw 6 people come and leave.) We decided to stay eventually being seated outside. The two of us were seated outside at a table set for 6. Our waitress came over and asked if we wanted something to drink, but didn't make eye contact when asking us, clearly concerned with her other tables. She was so dis-engaged i wasn't even sure if she was talking to us, so I waited for her to repeat her question, (still not looking at us) to respond. While we waited for our drinks, other waitstaff also came over to remove the additional place settings, again without even a glance in our direction. Food: We ordered the Dragonfly sampler, which had a nice presentation. It tasted fine. We ordered 2 cold beers, but they were poured into glasses, and in this case i think maybe they should have left them in the bottle or served them in chilled glasses because they were warm in a few minutes because it was so hot. The Echo Fried Rice was disappointing to say the least, it was totally bland, oddly red in color, and with no hint of the flavor of the pork and shrimp it had in it. The Spider Roll, also just lacked flavor altogether. We left the spider roll, the fried rice and the chicken stir fry we ordered and at this point gave up on the meal. We wanted the check, but our waitress was busy having a personal conversation with another customer, so again we waited. Both bathrooms were also messy, and in need of supplies. To sum it up, if the food had been really good, but the service not so great, or vice versa, it still would have been a salvageable experience, but bland food, bad service, and dirty a bathroom was just too much. read more

As Breakers members we have been supporting Echo for many years. We truly enjoyed coming here and the food was consistent. My complaint is about the experience. About 2 weeks ago we called the Breakers to secure the private room for my moms 70th Birthday. We were told no problem, it was reserved. 5 Days before we called to confirm the details, they told us a larger party would get the room. We were in shock, we had been moved and not even a phone call! After being thoroughly upset that we were kicked out of a room we were promised with no notification they assured us they would do a lovely set up on the front patio. We arrived 6PM on Friday as per our reservation, to be told that our table on the patio had been given away and now we could not sit on the patio either. Are you kidding me? This was my moms 70th birthday! We had dinner, which good despite the soggy pancakes with the Peking duck..Out comes desert for my mom, she didn't even put our spoons in the ice cream and the waiter dropped the check. Didn't ask about coffee or if anyone else wanted something. So we had him reopen he check so we could order more desert for the others on the table. We have never felt so unwelcome. We trusted Echo to make my moms 70th birthday special and they were an absolute disappointment. To be painfully honest, at first I was very disappointed with my food. I felt for the price I paid I received very little sushi. After speaking with my waitress, she made it right. I specifically told her what I did not like, and she fixed it immediately. I was not charged extra. I know for whomever is reading this, you may think that's just plain customer service and normal business. However, I have personally choosen to believe that she made it right. This place was so lovely! Went here around 5, caught happy hour! The happy hour menu was phenomenal . She sushi and drinks were on the happy hour menu, the sushi was so fresh and so good! Florida food salvation! I didn't know how much I missed exceptional dining until I ended up here. Expert sushi flavors and preparation. We had some amazing rolls with a bottle of Fair Maiden. These are some of the best rolls I have ever eaten and I actually know sushi chefs. The Hurricane, thank you for using real king crab. The White Tiger, escolar is one of my all time favorites. Spicy Dragon, you can actually taste all the individual ingredients. Oh, and the most beautiful shrimp egg roll I have ever seen. Bring on the bubbles and entrees, Miso Sea Bass, Black Cod and Sea Scallops for a table of four. These is some of the best seafood I have ever eaten, not over flavored or drowned in sauce. A tale of two meals - our drinks were great, I had a Shogun. We opted for the Chef's tasting menu for two people. I started with the Hot 'n sour soup, which is the best I have ever had. The first round of food came and we both enjoyed the lettuce wraps (super spicy), the Peking duck "buns" and the Palm Beach roll. This was followed by their beef dish (which was WAY under cooked to the point of being raw), Pad Thai (which was so over powering I could not eat it - too much flavoring), sea bass (did not try this, but my wife liked it) and fried rice (this was ok).
