I went to Echo this past Saturday and it was my first time going in almost 13 years. I enjoyed the food selections, and I don't know why I waited so long to return. All of the appetizers were fantastic, and the entrées well portioned, beautiful and umm umm good! The pictures tell the story as far as the food items are concerned. If I had to pick a best of the meal the item would be the short rib boa buns tied with the sea bass. The Miso sea bass was my favorite entrée--it was cooked to perfection and I know I'll get it again! The soufflés (dessert) were quite a spectacle, but they just didn't live up to the flavor expectations that I had. Decor and vibe were nice and chill. And although the lighting was pretty dark, it wasn't so bad that we could see down the table (party of 7). It wasn't too crowded either so the volume was manageable (we always consider that because we had a couple older people in our group). Overall we had a really great time. Service was good. Absolutely delicious! We were told to try this place by numerous people and finally gave it a shot! The service at the bar by Grace was fabulous! Our drinks were top notch and she took wonderful care of us for our first visit! We started with the short rib bao buns, which were delightful, then my husband had the General Taos chicken and I LOVED my flat iron wagyu steak. I highly recommend it- pass on the General Taos- nothing to write home about. We finished with a light airy delicious coconut soufflé and it was just as phenomenal as floating on a cloud. What a wonderful experience at Echo! We booked a reservation on open table. We were greeted with valet parking right out front. Upon entry, we were seated immediately by the hostess. We were promptly met with our waitress, Rachel. She was very knowledgeable regarding the menu and shared her favorite dishes and recommendations. We ended up ordering the chefs sharing menu. WOW! Outstanding! We started with the Palm Beach roll with baked conch over top. Next was the duck boa bun, which had a delicious sweet hoisin sauce and a refreshing slaw inside. The Kung pow lettuce wraps were perfect! A little kick and a little sweet in a crisp refreshing lettuce cup with big chunks of chicken. Third course was shrimp fried rice, chicken pad Thai, the flatiron steak and Miso Sea Bass. The best thing I ate was the sea bass. It melts in your mouth! Lightly caramelized, sweet and salty, served on a bed of bok choy. Steak, rice and pad Thai were all fantastic! The last thing that came out was the chocolate chip soufflé with Baileys whipped cream. What a fun and whimsical dessert! Besides the food being amazing, our waitress was fantastic!! Always checking on us, packing up our leftovers, making sure we were happy with everything. In addition, Isaiah was wonderful!! He shared with us the details of happy hour and the summer sharing menu. I had a margarita and martini both were strong (bang for my buck). We ate edamame and lobster Rangoon for appetizer and both were so tasty. I had never really ate edamame but it was good! This is owned by the Breakers Hotel, and like the Breakers has gone the Disney route. Bar service was excellent, though we really did not really need to go to the bar, if the hostess did her job. Regardless our past 3 experiences at Breakers restaurants in the past month have been epic disappointments. This is the last place I want to see fail, but the Breakers has changed who they want at their hotel. They want large corporate group events which brings in people that haven't the slightest idea of where they are, or it's storied past & with that have no respect for the property or the staff. I have known Echo in Palm Beach for many years and have always enjoyed dining there, although I don't visit as often now because I travel frequently. Last Sunday I took my mom for dinner, expecting the level of service I've experienced there in the past. Unfortunately, the service was very disappointing. When I asked the server for recommendations, he immediately pushed the most expensive item on the menu without even asking what we liked. It felt more like a sales tactic than genuine service. One of the dishes we ordered was too spicy for my mom, so I asked for a very simple sushi roll -- just tuna and avocado. The server said they had "new tuna tonight" and recommended it, so I agreed. I was shocked when the bill arrived and that simple roll was $54. The server never mentioned the price. He also failed to mention that the service charge was included, something that servers at Echo have always explained during my previous visits. To make matters worse, he brought the bill while we were still eating dessert, which felt very rushed and inappropriate. I've always associated Breakers restaurants with high standards of hospitality, which is why this experience was so surprising and disappointing. We went there last week. We were a party of 3 and got seated outside in the front. However, the food was way overpriced and mediocre at best! The sushi is not anywhere near what you'd expect and the Lo Mein was downright awful. The noodles were not a traditional Lo Mein. They were skinny and served a little cold. There was very little flavor to the dishes. After many, many visits to Echo, and subsequent disappointments, I think we are done. Upon entering the restaurant we were pleasantly surprised of the very cozy and romantic atmosphere. We called 15 mins prior for a reservation and we were seated immediately. The hostess was very nice, actually all of the staff were very nice. When we sat down initially we considered leaving, as a huge roach was crawling on the ground and the table next to us stepped on it. We gave the restaurant the benefit of the doubt that we are in Florida and perhaps this wasn't their fault. We ordered the chef's sharing menu at a whopping $105 per person and felt that the price was reasonable. For this, we got to share the Palm Beach roll, kung Pao lettuce wraps, Peking duck bao buns, miso sea bass, chicken pad Thai, Kalbi Wagyu Flatiron Steak, echo fried rice and chocolate chip echo soufflé. Everything was simply put above our expectations. Perfectly made, 5 stars. We also ordered 2 lychee martinis and two 3oz servings of sake which were delicious. I tried the miso sea bass for the first time and it was SO flavorful. I've tried variations of this dish at a lot of places and this was the best I've had yet. The soufflé dessert is a must.... This is hands down my favorite place to go for happy hour in Palm Beach. From 5-6 weekdays all sushi is half price if you are seated outside or at the sushi bar (except for the couple weeks around Christmas when there is no happy hour). The food can't be beat. It is expensive but I think worth it since the quality is so good. Lim, who is a relatively new sushi chef there, is absolutely top notch. We have always had good service. We occasionally forget to order the soufflé for dessert but we highly recommend it. I came here Friday night. It was one of the 4 restaurants who catered to the group of art enthusiats at the Breakers. There is a free shuttle from the resort to the restaurant. I would describe Echo as Asian fusion which combines Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese and Korean dishes. We sat in the private dining section which is closed off to the rest of the restaurant and a prefix menu is offered. FIRST COURSE : Echo Salad or Lobster Rangoon ENTRÉES : Miso Sea Bass or Kalbi Wagyu Flatiron Steak or General Tso Chicken DESSERTS : Molten Chocolate Lava Cake I highly recommend the Kalbi Wagyu Steak. Insanely cook on that beef, it was lovely dish. The Kalbi Wagyu Flatiron Steak, thinly sliced that melts with every bite. The fried rice was the perfect combination to execute this dish. The Bok choy cooked lovely, the overall meal was a dish you need to walk in the back and thank the chef for personally. I will for sure get this again.
