This restaurant is in a nondescript shopping strip set back off the road. It's on Forrest Hill Blvd east of Congress Avenue. I don't think I ever would have found it while driving by -- except that I saw it on Yelp. There is ample parking in the lot out front. There are a couple other restaurants in the same center that I'll check out in the future. There is plenty of seating inside -- tables as well as booths. The menu has a mix of Asian cultures -- from pho to pad Thai and traditional Chinese offerings, too. My husband had a small salad to start. He wasn't that hungry so he ordered a small tom kha shrimp soup. He said was very good and had a nice amount of shrimp in it. I ordered their Singapore rice noodles. I asked for not too spicy and it had just a tad bit of curry in it. It was delicious. The portion was huge -- 3 or 4 people could have easily shared the dish. It had pork, duck, chicken, and shrimp in it along with scallions, bok choy, carrots, onions, and bean sprouts. The noodles were cooked perfectly. I have dinner for us for another day as I could only eat a small bit. This place is a keeper. There's a lot more on the menu that I'd like to try. We will definitely return. read more

In a hidden strip center just off Foresthill Blvd, this is one of several restaurants anchoring the plaza. I'm glad we chose Haos Noodles! Clean inside with booths and tables. Friendly service and good food. An extensive menu offering many of our favorites. I chose the Tom Kha Shrimp and a house salad. The salad was a nice sized salad with tasty ginger dressing. A large group of us went here a few weeks ago. The place was packed and there was only one waitress taking care of everyone. Needless to say the service was slow but understandable given one person. The food here is great, the pineapple fried rice is probably my favorite! It's delicious. We had a group of 14 here tonight and everyone was pleased with their food. We had some appetizers from dumplings to fresh rolls and other things, and people ordered a variety of dishes, from pepper steak to pad Thai to shrimp with lobster sauce to curries. The food at Haos Noodles is very good. Just do not go there if you cannot wait a really long time. On Saturday November 23, I placed an order for pick up at 6:48 PM. I was told it would take 30 minutes. My husband arrived at the restaurant at 7:10 PM. The food was not ready until 8:00 PM. It took 72 minutes to prepare three items for pick up. I had never been here before and I saw they had some Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese and Philippines food on the menu. To me it seemed like a no brainer to give it a shot. The owner Alyssa was exceptionally friendly and made me feel very welcome. We talked about our mutual love for Thailand and it really made the experience of eating there all the better. The food was delicious. I started with the shrimp in a blanket and for my main course I had the drunken noodles. Soooooo yummy. They dont have any filipino foods besides the pancit and lumpiathings unlike the pictures online from prior menus. There is halo halo on the menu but that rings hallow -hallow as they no longer have it anymore.n There is not much of an identity or specilization to focus on as they claim many types of food but its not known if they can do any especially well. The portions were large and tasty with a bit of sweep. We were the only ones there but the seating is actually nice for the strip plaza. The veggie egg rolls were crisp but way too watery with gut like cabbage spreading outside with liquid so it was too watery The pancit was a a bit salty but it did the job. The egg drop soup was a bit more sweet that you have from a typical chineese take out. I am not sure how they are going to make it considering the price point and lack of identity. Returned from summer break to this wonderful restaurant. New owners have pared the menu down a little but still lots of choices. Started with fresh rolls-crispy and good. Husband had wonton soup with noodles and wontons and said broth was delicious. He had beef in a massaman curry sauce and said it was delicious and big portion so took half home. If you're a returning customer expecting what you've come to know and love, um, the old Haos is gone. We've been ordering delivery from here for years, usually more than twice a month. Because we loved it. So consistent! Also better than any Chinese food around. And not only Chinese but Pinoy too, and so many others. Per my phone log, our last few orders have been: 11/29/20 12/12/20 12/24/20 01/02/21 01/08/21 01/21/21 Recipes have changed. For example look at this egg roll. Not only is the wrap different but the filling tastes different. It now has some mystery acidity. We ordered what we always order. Here's veg Lo mein. The portion is smaller and rice is no longer in a cardboard pint? (Maybe this is from the lunch menu and we inadvertently ordered lunch because of the time in which we placed our order?) I really hope this isn't the new normal. They didn't ask if we wanted lunch specials. On our previous order, I ordered "the stuffed eggplant," like I have so many times before, expecting the usual baked pieces of eggplant rolled around shrimp, in a salty black bean sauce. I got some noodle salad surprise thing. Ok, so maybe one needs to order exactly word-for-word from the menu from now on. Does this dish have a different name? I've never had to use it before. Came by for a quick lunch. This place came highly recommended by at least two individuals. 1) Place was somewhat clean and somewhat welcoming. 2) Waitress was friendly and somewhat attentive. All of my food came almost all at once. Main course came in first then a few moments later came the appetizer. I was not happy with the order of arrival. 3) Ordered the Thai Ice tea. It came way too water down. I could not finish it. Missing a lot of flavor. Also ordered the Spring Rolls handmade (NOT FRIED). Those were delicious and the peanut sauce was on point. Ordered the Tom Yum Seafood soup. It looked good but lacked A LOT of flavor. I would not order it again. Overall, besides the spring rolls, I did not like my food and drink. Due to this I will not be retuning to this location. There are way too many choices around that are better in my humble opinion when it comes to the items I ordered and tried. Ordered a simple order b/c we were looking for somewhere close with decent Pad Thai. I called to make a pickup order and learned that the place is under new ownership/management and all of the menus are incorrect (yelp, qMenu, and its own website). Okay, I understand growing pains. I ordered probably the simplest of Thai and Chinese dishes, Pad Thai and Chicken Lo Mein to set a barometer. $28 (w/ tax) later, I get two large containers of flavorless noodles with protein. Nothing was terrible, but the Pad Thai had large, flavorless shrimp (when I asked for chicken) and way too much noodles for the sauce they used. Luckily we had a lime in the fridge, so it helped liven it a bit, but I've made better myself. The Lo Mein was ok, but it lacked that distinct taste of take-out lo mein that we secretly love. Again, we had to add a bunch of soy sauce just to get some flavor. Anyways, I'll give two stars since they folks there were very nice and new management can be a process to go through, but 1) they need to fix/update their menus, 2) work on their recipes, both stat! Started with the Shanghai Wontons as they had good reviews. The woonton wrappers were almost gelatinous and runny on the bottom. Very starchy flavor overall with not a whole lot of complexity. There were some plain sesame seeds sprinkled on top and a little drizzle of bland oil. Not sure what kind it was but definitely not seasame oil. I had to add some hoisin and sriracha to make it edible. The filling had no flavor I could discern. For my main course I had the beef and rice bowl. One yelper called it "Korean spicy beef" but on the menu it's just "beef and rice". It came out in a sizzling bowl of about 2 qts. The best part about this dish was that some of the rice was crispy from the heat of the metal bowl. Unfortunately, the flavor was... well, boring. The impression was that no one took the time to actually season it at all. Certainly there was no Korean, Szechuan, or any other flavor discernible. Strangely, when I dug around in the hope of kicking up any hidden bits of flavor from the bottom of the dish I detected a hint of seaweed a few times. Once again, I added some hoisin and hot sauce. Unfortunately, the dish was so bland I couldn't finish it. I don't think I'll return. read more
