Not 4 stars Under new management. Decent American fried rice taste - HOWEVER - skimpy "As Hell" with proteins. I ordered 1 shrimp & chicken fried rice to go. Was charged extra $15+ for 2 proteins. Got home - had about 4 small shrimp chopped in half (little nubs included). About 3 slivers of the palest chicken I've ever seen. About 1 inch slivers. My son ordered Vietnamese Pho soup and I ordered wonton soup and 2 spring rolls. All the ordering took place on a screen and an human only came out once we paid. When our food came, my wonton soup came in a plastic take-out container. When I told the man that hot soup in plastic containers is linked to breast cancer and that I could not eat it that way, he just said "that's the way we serve it!" So I told him to take it back and was not even offered a refund or a different menu item. My son's pho soup was more bean sprouts than Pho, and was very oily. He did not finish it. The honey garlic chicken with fried rice was equally disgusting. The rice was burnt beyond recognition, and the overcooked, dried chicken was a joke. The chicken teriyaki was so dry and hard. To top it off, the fortune cookie had black moldy spots. When I called to complain, the owner was just as rude as when he took down our initial order. The brisket pho had slices of brisket fat with no actual meat and the walnut chicken had a gloopy yellow sauce and not a single walnut. We met some friends here for dinner. They come here often. They offer a mix of Chinese and Vietnamese dishes. In addition to the half dozen pho (Vietnamese soups), they have fried rices, noodle dishes, appetizers, soups, and signature dishes. I did not realize they had combination dinners until after I ordered. There are no prices on the take out paper menus (which we were given) -- only on their website. We started with an order of summer rolls. They are shrimp only here -- which is how we usually order them. They were just okay, as was the peanut sauce. Our friends got their steamed veggie dumplings and said they were very good. For our main entree, I had their Mongolian beef. It had onions, snow peas and mushrooms with the meat. It was slightly spicy. My husband had their house lo mein -- noodles with a mix of meats and vegetables. It, too, was just okay. Our friends had a fried tofu dish with broccoli and other veggies. They got the (brown) garlic sauce on the side. And a chicken pad Thai dish. This was different than most pad Thai as the noodles were in a sweet sour lime fish sauce. I wish I could give this place less than 1 star. I am updating my review from previous years. Under new ownership and the food is one of the worst Chinese foods I have ever tasted. Almost $75 for 4 combo dinners with hardly any food in them. Our dinner was take-out and for some reason he gave us combo meals which were over 80% rice and nothing else. The garlic shrimp had literally 3 tiny shrimp and the fried rice was just dark colored rice with nothing in it. After tasting the weirdly neon yellow and unusually sweet corn-starchy fake egg drop soup, I should have known how bad the rest of the entrees were. This used to be our favorite place. Like a lot of you, I am sure, I have been to Got Rice many times over the years. That said, it is clearly under new ownership and or new management, and it is not the Got Rice that we all remember. Don't waste your time coming here. It will not be a positive experience. If you do come, here are some of the things you can expect: You will not be greeted when you enter the restaurant. In fact, it may be a good 10 minutes before you even see anybody in the restaurant. You will finally realize that nobody is coming out to give you menus or water or to take your order. You will then order on a computer screen. There will be no human interaction during this time. The table you're sitting at will be dirty, as well, every other table in the place. One table will have a few scattered napkins on it, another one will have some plastic silverware, and another one will have soy sauce. No table will have all of these things. When the guy finally brings your food, without so much as a smile or greeting, and when you ask him for a cup of water, he will tell you that he only sells water in bottles. When you point to the water dispenser, which is sitting right there in the restaurant, he will tell you that this water is for him and nobody else. If you want water, you have to buy water. That will then be the last time you see him. He will not come to check on you, to see if there's anything else you would like, whether the food is your liking, or anything at all. It saddens me to write this review. Got Rice! used to be my absolute favorite Chinese food place in palm beach. I sometimes ate here 3 times in a week. They are under new management and it shows. The dumplings that I usually love were ok, but not their normal yummy pillowy texture. The real problem was the dinner, aside from the fact that they raised the prices a lot, even counting for inflation, dumplings used to be 4.99 now 7.99. Thats a pretty big leap. My dinner was lo mein, fried rice and an egg roll. I could barely eat it. The first few tastes made me gag and the eggroll was a soggy sponge of oil and one bite told me that was over. I don't usually complain in a restaurant. I find that if the plate looks untouched, as mine was, the server normally will inquire about what happened. Not here. Not only did she not care, she didn't even offer me a take home box. I wouldn't have taken the food, but the lack of an offer also speaks volumes to me. I don't wanna make anyone uncomfortable, but soon after getting home I was puking out this disgusting, I hate to call it food. I have been coming to this restaurant for 8 years and I can assure you I will never, ever step foot in there again. I only suggest this restaurant if you'd like to get a good case of food poisoning. Even though the reviews are great at this restaurant, I did not have a good experience here with takeout. I am told the owners have been here for eight years. There is indoor/outdoor eating. A very informal yet attractive setting. The bemasked server was very friendly. I ordered vegetarian dumplings, excellent, pork lo mein, good, boneless ribs, mediocre. Just read the recent reviews and now my last experience here is making more sense. My husband and I have eaten here several times over the past several years and we went last week hoping to enjoy an order of summer rolls and a bowl of pho each. It was kinda cluttered and dirty and unlike previous times no one offered us a table to sit out. An older man behind the barred window seemed annoyed at our arrival. I said oh do I order with you for dine in? He said yes and I tried to order summer rolls but he pointed to them being crossed out in pen on get laminated menu okay I got some veggie spring rolls. I like pho with steak and meatballs and my husband likes just steak pho. I also asked for two beers. He tells me The total and I said we pay now? He said yes. Kinda off putting because we wanted to sit and eat and what if we wanted another beer? He tells me the total and it was $54 something. Seemed high but I handed him a card and he gave me a slip without the prices itemized and I am incapable of not tipping even when I've been told no service is gonna happen so I wrote $8 on the tip line. After that I sit down and notice the cleanest newest looking thing in the restaurant a computer to put your own order in. So I use it to order the same items I just paid for and the total was $46 something. I decided to "bother" The man again to inquire the reason he says oh I tipped myself $4. Hole-in-the-wall gem So far I've tried the red curry (fave!) and the different-than-usual Pad Thai (very good). The best thing about this restaurant is the consistency, and that everyone there cares about your dining experience. Both times I picked shrimp as the protein and they cooked them to perfection. Vegetables are plentiful in the dishes, too. The red curry sauce is absolutely delicious. My wife got the Szechuan plate with shrimp, which is also fabulous. We went here for Valentine's Day because everywhere was packed. This place was busy but most people were getting takeout. I was a bit under the weather so I ordered wonton soup. I put hot oil in it for my sinus and wow it cleared it up. The steamed veggie dumplings were delicious. Crab Rangoon was filled with cream cheese and is always yummy. Red curry is always good but I wish there was more sauce because the sauce is so important to eat with your rice. Everything came out quick and we didn't have to wait too long.
