Came here with a small group for late night libations. We sat at the bartender. Bartender was cool but a little off at the same time. We were welcomed upon entrance, service on par. We didn't order any food; drinks were mid to strong for us. So guess it depends on what you order. Wasn't packed in there considering it was Friday night. Good for us, not so much for the restaurant. Welp we gave Aquasan another try. It's nice to hear directly from the new manager after an abysmal experience with an apology. We originally visited Aquasan for our anniversary and had an amazing experience. Revisited again because we really do love the food, ambiance, and drinks. We have it a go for Valentine's Day and had a really disappointing experience. The new manager reach out an apologized which is always great to hear and seeing people take ownership. The decor is awesome! Super cute Asian-tiki tropical ambiance. I recommend going here for tapas. My husband and I came with my in-laws and just ordered a bunch of dishes for the table which was perfect. We tried the cucumber banchan, ribs, bao buns, pop pop shrimp, kfc chicken, krab Rangoon spring rolls, and brussel sprouts off the happy hour menu, and a few of the cocktails. It is a little pricey for the size of the dishes but overall solid experience. We were a little apprehensive after reading other yelp reviews, but we are glad we gave it a try for ourselves. Really wanted to like this place since they rebranded but it was not happening. We got four seats at the bar. Bartender was nice but only interested asking us if we needed another drink, not water. Had a reservation and was excited to try the new concept. I always liked Aqua Grille. I can't rate the food because we ended up walking out before we even were given the opportunity to order drinks. Eighteen minutes and no one (probably more but I only decided to start keeping track after 5-10 minutes). The place was dead with 5 or 6 tables and multiple servers. They walked up and down dozens of times. Horrendous, apathetic type of attitude. No apology. Whoever is managing this place ( if there even was a manager on duty) should really reconsider their role. Needless to say, we won't be back and we will let others know of our experience. Had himachi with ponzu sauce from the raw bar. This was a new experience for me in terms of the surprise when I took my first bite. So well presented. The fish was perfectly fresh and the sauce, while exciting, wasn't overpowering. A very delicate and excellent dish that I can't imagine possible to improve on. We ordered a second one :-) Had a couple of small appetizers. Very creative little bites one wahoo and the other was salmon. Tasted great but a bit small. The crème brûlée was super as well. We shared that. I give this spot five stars because it really is great. Plus it's in Juno. This is a new level for Juno. Lovely happy hour. The bartenders (there were 1 and 1/4) didn't keep up. The main bartender likes to engage with his regulars and does so for a long time ignoring the rest of the bar. The other bartender is afraid to engage. She walked around pretending to put bottles away and avoiding eye contact with customers at the bar. Getting an answer to a simple question -what are your house wines- confounded both. They handed me the wine list that doesn't show any house wines (they are $9/glass and the Pinot Grigio was awful. The other white was Chardonnay). After 30 minutes I ordered two items - a salmon nigiri for $6 and a taco and tequila for $8. Both were one bite. The bartender forgot to give me silver or chopsticks or soy (it seems there is one bottle ). They were both tasty. After I heard the bartender explain that the "steak tartare" was not glutten-free I knew he was clueless. But he was the MC. Talking a lot and laughing while drinks were emptied The place is very nice. Wood floors tables are spaced to give you room. The wine list is pricey as is the menu. This is an unfortunate review to write. When we walked in the vibe was bright, fun and welcoming. Our server was kind and responsive but clearly young and poorly trained. When he introduced the menu to us he said "well it's family style and I guess that's all you need to know" We ordered a few starters including a chicken sando. Two bites in and there was trouble. Completely, and I mean completely, raw. I stopped eating and calmly waited for our server to check on us who immediately took it back to the kitchen. I waited for a manager to come over but nobody ever did. The floor was a mess with waiters auctioning off food to random tables not sure who ordered what. I was offered the empanadas that the table next to us received but apparently didn't order and they sent back apparently as compensation? I asked the waiter if the manager was aware as if I did get sick, I wanted to make sure he knew about what had happened with the raw chicken. He assured me he did, which was odd since he never came over. I pretty much lost my appetite after that and when our bill came, I noticed the chicken sandwich was still on there. Not to mention nothing comped but they still wanted to charge me for it! The manager walked by who I waved over and he said "oh sorry about that little thing earlier". I replied oh you mean my raw chicken? Yea it's still on the bill. He said sorry and took the bill and removed the $7 sandwich and had the young waiter replace the bill on my table. Poor kid. What a spectacularly atrocious evening at Temu Blackbird. Our server gave the first impression that maybe this would be a good night giving a brief intro to the menu, and that's where the good part of the night ended. We waited for water for a very long time and another server noticed we had been there and asked if we needed water. Drinks, both water and from the bar, took forever, while the food came out before the drinks even did. Throughout the night we had so many different servers touch our table, not in a good way where they're all helping but because they can tell we're looking for help for reasons like the food is here and 2 people don't have silverware. The menu sounds like chatty g wrote it, things that don't sound at all like they should go together or are even food some of the time, make up to components of the dishes. The menu is chaotic and trying too hard. Flavors were bland while the dishes were cooked poorly. Steak tips dry and overcooked, beef tartar didn't really taste of anything, the waffle on the chicken and waffle sandwich tasted like it was cooked at 3pm prior to service and they slapped some fresh chicken between the limp waffles before sending it out, other things were fine but not worth the price. They said to order family style but I don't think they know what that means because the dishes aren't really designed to work family style. I asked about portion sizes I was told they were big, they were not, we left hungry. This restaurant feels like it was designed for Instagram versus a good meal. They poured so much into the aesthetics and tiki cups they ran out of time and money to worry about things like food quality, and proper training for front and back of the house. Rangoon spring rolls cold. BLT bao bun, pork belly was sadly overcooked. Grouper bahn mi slider... was it even fish? Duck empanada cold, limp and lacking flavor. Chicken and waffle had good flavor but cold stale waffle. Surf and turf sushi roll was slightly redeeming. Wine was warm and had to ask for ice. No manager touch for table?
