As someone who is highly allergic to MSG, I was especially impressed that when I asked, I was assured that no artificial ingredients are used to enhance flavor. That gave me the freedom to enjoy a wide variety of dishes across the menu--and every single bite was exceptional. I went Saturday night, ordered the Kung Pao Chicken. I took one bite and could barely speak for 15 minutes due to the overwhelming abundance of Szechuan peppers. Server made herself scarce so I couldn't get my water glass filled to calm the reaction. Sure, it was marked as a spicy dish on the menu, but I picked a huge mountain of peppers from the dish (about 4 dozen)and piled them on the adjoining plate. Unacceptable. Also the chicken was undercooked. Sent it all back with some stern words for the chef. Service was ultra slow. Friends of ours at the next table never got their food, so they left after asking for the manager multiple times. And let me tell you -- what a blessing that turned out to be. Everything we ordered was absolutely incredible. The chilled sweet and sour pork was fresh and perfectly balanced. JB's roll was outstanding. The seafood spring rolls were light and packed with flavor. The fried rice with beef and shrimp was cooked perfectly, and the pork dumplings were phenomenal. What impressed us even more was that the place was busy -- and I mean busy -- yet the service never skipped a beat. They were attentive, quick, and on top of everything the entire time. Last night, I brought my family to the restaurant. First of all, congratulations on the grand opening of your restaurant! As soon as we walked in, we could immediately feel the rich Chinese cultural atmosphere. The interior design is truly unique, elegant, and full of character. From the displays of ancient imperial costumes, the pipa and guzheng elements, and the Chinese painting-style ceiling decorations, to the maple and cherry blossom trees and the welcoming pine trees, the entire space feels both classy and grand -- almost like stepping into a beautiful traditional Chinese painting. On paper...it's a fabulous place. Interesting ambiance and menu. And while we were there for soft opening, it wasn't even up to soft standards. Slow service is fine. Husband ordered coke, server comes back and plunks a drink down and says "it's Pepsi hope that's ok." The apps and meals came out all together even tho we specified we wanted the apps first. When we questioned it we were told "it's because we serve family style". Honey....not sure what kinda family you come from but that's not what family style means. One of the dishes wasn't what we ordered. One of the dishes came out cold. Manager apologized and dish went back. When tge correct dish came out it's a good thing I cut into it first because the chicken inside was raw. All of it. Not just a little. At that point I lost my appetite. Won't go back. We came here on a whim one Saturday afternoon since we had seen it was opening and when we came in, it was the last day of their soft opening! We sat the bar and was greeted right away by Michael (I believe his name was and I'm so sorry if that's not right, because he was really great!). Since it was still in soft opening operations, there were a few things that still needed to be put up, but obviously understandable. The overall look and feel of the restaurant was nicely done and nice views of the water behind the bar. For drinks, we were recommended the lychee raspberry martini and the spicy margarita. Both were very good! We were just coming here for a few drinks before we headed out to a birthday dinner, but we just had to try some of the apps per the recommendation of our bartender! We got the Black Truffle Chicken Siu Mai, Sichuan Pork Dumplings and Matcha Shrimp Balls! WOW - the Sichuan Pork Dumplings were probably some of the best apps I've had, I wanted to order more!!! The Shrimp balls were amazing too! Not what I expected (they're not in ball form) but super delicious. The Black Truffle Siu Mai was okay - the flavor was good but the texture overall was meh. The bartender did bring up the change of texture from the other apps we ordered so we were a bit prepared. We can't wait to come back here!!!!! read more

A pleasant surprise! First time at Red Phoenix. Quickly seated with drink orders placed shortly afterwards. Our server was pleasant assisting us with menu questions. This is a new restaurant. Beautiful ambience. Went on a Monday night so it was very quiet. Our waiter Michael couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. A friend had suggested a seafood roll appetizer, which had large chunks of delicious shrimp inside. The spare ribs came out on their own little hibachi to keep them warm. They were meaty and delicious. The sauce on top was a tad too sweet, but somehow I managed to eat 4 of the 6. The tuna and salmon rolls were just OK, but the spicy tuna roll was very good. My husband enjoyed the wonton soup that had a very light broth and some bok choy and the seaweed salad that included slices of cucumber and lemon. Very fresh. We would go back again. read more

I understand this was a soft opening, However, our experience tonight was pretty disappointing. The restaurant was not busy while we were there. One of our plates was brought out wrong at first. The chicken came out about 45-50 minutes after ordering, and the vegetables didn't arrive until about 20 minutes later after the chicken, so our meals weren't served together. I was asked if I wanted white rice or egg fried rice and chose the egg fried rice, which came with an upcharge. When it came out we could hardly find any egg in it and didn't have that nice fried rice flavor. You could tell the FOH staff was frustrated because the kitchen was struggling. They felt very bad at the situation so we very much understood. The biggest issue and why I felt the need to even write a review was finding a hair in my rice after taking two bites. I let the server know immediately and didn't eat the rest of it. When the bill came, we were still charged for the rice. You couldn't comp us $3 after all of that? I understand mistakes happen, especially during a soft opening, but it would have been a nice gesture to at least remove the rice from the bill. I'll visit again once they've been open for a while because I believe this could be a great spot once they've figure things out. read more

They just opened about 2 weeks ago. We tried to get in without knowing it was their opening night so it was mobbed. Went today at 430 for HH and it was pretty empty. We ordered from their HH menu and it was all delicious. And the HH vodka is Tito at buy one get one free. The bartender Tiffany was a pleasure. Mongolian beef. Very tasty. NEVER got our second one shrimp in lobster sauce. We decided to try this restaurant on a rainy day just before the grand opening. We took advantage of the early happy hour menu, which, we initially were disappointed to learn, was only available at the bar. We got this bad news after we were so impressed with the dining room's classy modern decor, white tree props and intimately arranged red table-clothed tables. However, upon taking our seats at the bar, we can only offer compliments to the designer of this restaurant! Windows lining the entire length of the bar treated patrons to a dazzling marina view that even a cloudy day couldn't ruin! Those sitting outdoors shared the great view but fortunately, didn't block ours. We sampled hot saki, served in an upscale bowl filled with hot water and an appetizer--lightly breaded squid with not-too-spicy Thai chili sauce on the side. My husband and I absolutely loved both! We also shared Mongolian beef, which to our surprise, came too spicy for us to eat. But the staff immediately took it back to the kitchen and graciously remade it without the hot spice. The only downside is we could find no small dessert options--only large portions that apparently were meant to be shared. We hope to return and try other menu items. read more
