Cocktails, wine, and beer including martinis are all half off (just not the signature cocktails). **What We Ordered** My friend got the Mongolian beef with broccoli added, plus fried rice instead of white rice for a $3 upcharge, and she loved every bite. I tried it and it was genuinely excellent. I was craving soup, so I ordered the soup dumplings, but they came in small tin carafes and stuck to them, so when I peeled them off, all the soup spilled out. I missed the actual soup dumpling experience I was hoping for. They'd be fun as a table share item, everyone grabbing one, but as a full meal for myself it wasn't the right call. Wouldn't order again. I also started with a beef skewer off the happy hour menu and it was really good. In hindsight, I should've leaned into more happy hour bites, or tried one of the sushi rolls that looked so good going by. **Bottom Line** Great vibe, great service, great happy hour. I went to Red Phoenix today for lunch. The good: It's a very nicely decorated restaurant. It's very neat and clean. The food was good. I had the sesame chicken lunch special and I enjoyed it. Good Chinese food in South Florida is hard to come by, this was pretty good. The bad: Here are the issues I had: The price. The prices are ridiculous. It's a lunch special of sesame chicken and it's a small portion at that. $16? Are you nuts? The lunch special itself wasn't all that special. It was a small portion of sesame chicken and white rice. It came with a miso soup. That's it. For $16 I would expect at least a choice of egg roll if I didn't want soup. Nothing. I don't like miso soup. I asked if I could swap it for something. No. I said wait, are you kidding? No. I said what about a won ton soup instead? No. We can't change it. I said why? I've never heard of this before. Because our wonton soup is special. It's better than regular wonton soup. Are the wontons wrapped in gold? It's a won ton wrapper, a little bit of meat, some broth, and a few veggies. Let's not get nuts. I said ok fine. How about an egg roll instead of the soup? No. So I paid the same amount and didn't have the soup. Really wasn't thrilled with his matter of fact attitude. If you like miso I guess it's fine. But I don't. I was just very disappointed at the lack of flexibility. For a place that's empty and charging $16 for the same sesame chicken I can get at any take out restaurant, the least they can do is be flexible. I can go to Yin Can Cook, get a larger portion, the rice, and an egg roll for at least $5 less. I am just disappointed because I had higher hopes. We've passed Red Phoenix many times but this is the first time we dined there. The restaurant is lovely - - the decor is traditional Asian style, pinks and red with dark wood. The views of the harbor are striking. Our server, Jack, was terrific. He checked in with us repeatedly, but without hovering. He also accommodated our modifications to one of the dishes. We ordered a range of dishes, from shrimp and pork Shu Mai and Dan Dan Noodles to Mongolian Beef and Sweet and Sour Basil Shrimp. The Shu Mai were perfectly cooked and the wrapper nice and delicate. The filling was chopped coarsely but the flavor profile was spot on. The dipping sauce had little flavor, but was "hot." The shrimp were succulent and perfectly cooked. The sweetness was subtle, with a hint of spice. Served on a bed of crispy rice noodles, it was a perfect base. The Dan Dan Noodles were just as I remembered them from decades ago. But the top dish was the Mongolian Beef - thin, tender slices of beef in a rich gravy with a mix of vegetables - three types of onions. Outstanding! Overall it was an excellent dinner. The tuna tataki was one of the best I've ever had, the flavor was to die for. The spicy tuna roll and hamachi scallion roll were also great choices. The first thing you notice when you walk in is the modern Asian vibe of the decor. You have a choice of regular tables, high tops, a large bar area, or outdoor seating with a view of the marina. There is also a room for private parties. The menu includes a variety of Asian dishes including some with a modern twist. We decided to go mostly with old school Chinese dishes. Our server, Jack, was very helpful especially when I asked for spicy dishes to be modified. He checked in frequently but didn't hover. We started with the shrimp and pork shumai . It was nicely cooked and served with a dipping sauce that at first had no taste or flavor but left a residual hint of spicy peanut sauce behind. The Mongolian beef was perfection. Maybe the best I have ever had. The beef was thinly sliced and perfectly cooked served on a sizzling platter in a rich and delicious sauce. The sweet and sour Thai basil shrimp were perfectly cooked but the sauce was neither sweet nor sour but was a bit spicy. The Dan-Dan noodles came out way too spicy but they were quickly replaced. I had such an amazing time celebrating my birthday here with my friends. The manager and staff were so amazing in helping me secure enough space for our group. We were provided a private room that fit us comfortably. The manager even went as far as making sure the temperature in the room was comfortable. Service was beyond anything I've experienced, it was amazing. There was a DJ that played good music especially when my birthday cake came out. The sparklers on the cake was a beautiful and unexpected touch. I really could go on an on about the ambiance and service. Was out of this world. The food was a different story. Received mixed reviews from my friends. One issue was that the general tso's chicken was supposed to be spicy but there was no spice. It was actually very sweet. The egg fried rice also tasted a little sweet which I wasn't a fan of. Another friend was taken about by the pot stickers, stating that the meat didn't taste like chicken and ended up sending the dish back. I also had the pork dumplings that were served with chili sauce but they were very oily. The wait time for the food was also a little long as well which we weren't crazy about either. Kung pao chicken isn't browned, no zucchini, tastes like if you tried to make it at home, so nothing like kung pao chicken. Mongolian beef is good, but hardly any beef. Duck fried rice is bland. Way, way too expensive for what they're serving you. Don't waste your time or money, there are plenty of better tasting, less expensive Asian restaurants around here. First all the ambiance was worth the price of admission. Beautiful and very relaxing.. Our server was ouststanding in every way. We were lucky to be with our family style friends since menu was pretty diverse with Asian cuisines. Possibly best sushi we ever had. String beans with seafood was outstanding. The vegetable pancake delicious and light as a feather with a GREAT dipping sauce. Was told the entree Won Ton Soup was very good. Only one having a drink and the Makers Mark rocks was a solid pour. I'm happy to say the price to value ratio was spot on. The quality of the food in that venue in PBG was extremely fair for these times. It has taken a few days for me to process this because I was so excited to go there, but then once I got there, I was insulted. Not by the price, what some people may think was over priced, but I was insulted by the quality of food. For about $26 I ordered crab fried rice . I believe I was given frozen fried "crab" rice. No hint of garlic, ginger scallion or onion. No sesame oil. They may have tossed a 2 oz can of crabmeat in it at most. Very disappointing. My mom ordered sesame khicken and I should have known to just get shrimp but of course it was mystery meat. I took most of it home. I was able to Dr up the fried rice at home but I wasn't trying to play with that mystery meat. It was about 3pm on a weekday. The place was empty and it took 30 mins for our order to come out. I felt like they tried to wait and make it seem like they were really cooking before they put it in the microwave for 9 minutes and send it out. That's what I was thinking.. I keep seeing this pop up on my social media feed so my friend and I stopped by to check it out. The decor was really pretty, fairly large space, they offer valet as parking can be limited. Large bar both indoor and outdoor seating. At first we weren't aware of the outdoor patio seating so the hostess guided us and got us seated. Ordered a cosmo off happy hour menu that was okay more pink in color and on the sweeter side. Not what i am used to and my friend had a beer which she enjoyed. We ordered couple rolls that was very fresh and also the tuna delight, which was absolutely delicious and not typically something I would order as I can't do the texture of tuna. However, taste & freshness was 10/10! The peking duck was cooked nice and crispy the way i like it. The food did not disappoint. The beef skewers had good flavor but a bit on chewy side. And while the inside of the restaurant was decorated nicely, the outdoor space looked like we were sitting in a parking lot next to a broken plastic plant. The food was ok. My sushi rolls looked plain. The desert was a disaster: Tiramisu had sour cheese. As soon as we walked in, we could immediately feel the rich Chinese cultural atmosphere. The interior design is truly unique, elegant, and full of character. From the displays of ancient imperial costumes, the pipa and guzheng elements, and the Chinese painting-style ceiling decorations, to the maple and cherry blossom trees and the welcoming pine trees, the entire space feels both classy and grand -- almost like stepping into a beautiful traditional Chinese painting. When we questioned it we were told "it's because we serve family style". Honey....not sure what kinda family you come from but that's not what family style means. We came here on a whim one Saturday afternoon since we had seen it was opening and when we came in, it was the last day of their soft opening! We sat the bar and was greeted right away by Michael (I believe his name was and I'm so sorry if that's not right, because he was really great!). Since it was still in soft opening operations, there were a few things that still needed to be put up, but obviously understandable. The overall look and feel of the restaurant was nicely done and nice views of the water behind the bar. For drinks, we were recommended the lychee raspberry martini and the spicy margarita. Both were very good! We were just coming here for a few drinks before we headed out to a birthday dinner, but we just had to try some of the apps per the recommendation of our bartender! We got the Black Truffle Chicken Siu Mai, Sichuan Pork Dumplings and Matcha Shrimp Balls! WOW - the Sichuan Pork Dumplings were probably some of the best apps I've had, I wanted to order more!!! The Shrimp balls were amazing too! Not what I expected (they're not in ball form) but super delicious. The Black Truffle Siu Mai was okay - the flavor was good but the texture overall was meh. Had lunch here last month, with no expectations. Fortunately I was pleasantly surprised . Ordered both the Mongolian beef and king pao chicken. Food was authentic and very flavorful. And thought, Will be back for sure. Also thought it was better the other upscale Chinese restaurant, blackbird. However, I came back today and the food was so bland. Server made herself scarce so I couldn't get my water glass filled to calm the reaction. Sure, it was marked as a spicy dish on the menu, but I picked a huge mountain of peppers from the dish (about 4 dozen)and piled them on the adjoining plate. Unacceptable. Also the chicken was undercooked. Sent it all back with some stern words for the chef. Service was ultra slow. Friends of ours at the next table never got their food, so they left after asking for the manager multiple times. We went to Red Phoenix tonight for the first time, and it was phenomenal. This is coming from someone who lived in China for three years and has experienced authentic Chinese cuisine firsthand. We ordered the half duck, and it was absolutely outstanding. The skin was perfectly crispy while the meat remained juicy and flavorful. The Szechuan spicy dumplings were delectable--definitely enough heat to make your throat tingle, but completely worth it for the incredible flavor. They were also kind enough to make us a no-rice sushi roll, which we really appreciated. We prefer not to eat rice with sushi, and it was both delicious and beautifully prepared. The pork belly was another highlight--rich, tender, and absolutely delightful. Beyond the food, the owner is charming and welcoming. The restaurant is owned and operated by people from China, which adds to the authenticity of the experience. The atmosphere is beautiful, there's a lovely harbor view, and they offer happy hour specials as well. I would absolutely recommend giving Red Phoenix a try. You won't regret it. read more

And let me tell you -- what a blessing that turned out to be. Everything we ordered was absolutely incredible. The chilled sweet and sour pork was fresh and perfectly balanced. JB's roll was outstanding. The seafood spring rolls were light and packed with flavor. The fried rice with beef and shrimp was cooked perfectly, and the pork dumplings were phenomenal. What impressed us even more was that the place was busy -- and I mean busy -- yet the service never skipped a beat. They were attentive, quick, and on top of everything the entire time. Ignore the good reviews. They're all people who eat trash Chinese food and so anything even slightly better is perceived as good. The service was slow, the food comes out slow, servers ignore you, no one asks "how was everything" and the food is 3x the price of Chinese takeout for maybe 1.2x the quality. Just go to the many other legit Asian restaurants in the area and SKIP THIS PLACE! If you don't believe me, look on OpenTable. Those are the real, honest reviews, as you must of had a reservation to leave the review. Plus, people who use apps like OpenTable typically have real dining standards. This is a new restaurant. Beautiful ambience. Went on a Monday night so it was very quiet. Our waiter Michael couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. A friend had suggested a seafood roll appetizer, which had large chunks of delicious shrimp inside. The spare ribs came out on their own little hibachi to keep them warm. They were meaty and delicious. The sauce on top was a tad too sweet, but somehow I managed to eat 4 of the 6. The tuna and salmon rolls were just OK, but the spicy tuna roll was very good. My husband enjoyed the wonton soup that had a very light broth and some bok choy and the seaweed salad that included slices of cucumber and lemon. Very fresh. We would go back again. read more

My kung pao shrimp was not spicy at all and way too sweet, the wonton soup was just ok but the wonton itself had a funk to it maybe the pork was outdated in the wonton filling? Everything food wise that we got was about same as u would get at any local south Florida Chinese hole in wall place only marked up a bit in price.
