Came here at 11:00 AM and I was definitely the first person to arrive that day! We were promptly greeted, seated and given a menu! We thought that this would be a more traditional experience where they come around with the carts and serve directly to the table but it's was just an order off the menu and we will get it to you experience. Lol! The food was good! Not over the top amazing and not bad either! Each of the dim sum dishes were just under 6 dollars each! My wife and I ordered about 9 dishes and we were stuffed and ended up with leftovers. The service we got was pretty good! Whenever we needed to get the attention of our waitress she promptly came over and removed our finished dishes quickly! I can see how some people say that they are not friendly and I see it a bit differently as they were there to do their job fast and they achieved that in my opinion! After a few months I went back to give the new owner another go. I'm thrilled to report.... The food was over the top wonderful. Hot and Sour soup, fried pork dumplings, Moo Shu Beef, Char Su, Hong Kong Wonton soup and Shrimp and black bean sauce were genuinely a delight. I've been on the hunt for dim sum near me, and I was so excited to find Real Wok offers it every day of the week! Even better--on Sundays, they roll out the traditional carts so you can pick dishes tableside instead of ordering from the menu. I'll definitely be back to experience that! Honestly, no complaints--everything was made fresh to order. We were warmly greeted, seated, and given both the regular menu and the dim sum checklist. I was impressed by the variety of dim sum options available. We ordered shumai, fried shrimp cakes, shrimp dumplings, turnip cake, sticky rice in lotus leaf, and egg custard for dessert. Our server brought out drinks along with chili oil and black vinegar--without us even having to ask! That was such a nice touch, since those condiments are a must for me but not always automatically provided. The dim sum came out piping hot as each dish was ready, and everything was delicious. I come here often as this is the most authentic I can get that is close by my house. The food is better than most. On weekends, they push around the Dim Sum cart. Service is good but not great. Servers act bothered and don't seem happy. Always feel like they are rather rushing us out or not attentive at all. Side eye when we ask for something. Real Wok is the realest wok. We have been here a handful of times now and consistently have had the most fresh and most authentic Chinese food every time. They also have kind service, the ambiance is simple with lots of tables in the restaurant, and they have a delicious menu for every pallette. By far, our favorite dim sum spot! We're always looking for great Chinese food. The Real Wok is pretty good, but still not the best around. The menu is quite extensive, so there's likely to be an item to satisfy everyone's appetite. It even features a page of "authentic" Chinese food. We stayed away from that page since our tastebuds are geared toward Americanized Chinese food. Alas, even with the large menu, there were no combination offerings. (Yep, we've been influenced by those Americanized Chinese restaurants that offer lots of combos!) Happily, the waitress quickly brought the usual table-fare of hot tea and fried noodles to munch on while we perused the aforementioned broad-ranging menu. I had the kung pao chicken. It was okay, but not great. It featured plenty of chicken though. My wife had the chicken fried rice, which she liked but described as being a bit dry. She added some duck sauce that had arrived with the fried noodles, which helped alleviate the dryness issue. The chicken was cut into thin strips, which was a nice way to serve the entree. Why spend lots of time cutting big pieces of chicken while the meal gets cold? Another person in our group had a garlic shrimp with broccoli entry. It was very good. The portion sizes are quite large and we all took home plenty of food for another meal. The service was decent, although the server forgot to provide separate checks even after she had agreed to do so. Overall, a good dinner. If we are in the neighborhood, we may stop by again. We try to steer away from one place because of the bad service and opt to try the place few streets away because we heard the food, setting and service is slightly better. And you make your way there, no matter what, to have a great time. Had I perused through the reviews for this restaurant before I agreed to go there (on March 2nd, 2024) this present review for Real Wok will not exist. From January 2016 to September 2024, there are 82 5 star reviews for RW. From February 2015 to November 2024, there are 33 4 star reviews for RW. That is 115 positive reviews. From March 2015 to July 2024, there are 29 2 star reviews for RW. From April 2017 to August 2023, there are 108 1 star reviews for RW. That is 137 negative reviews. Secondly, we visited Real Wok on the recommendation of our friends from Melbourne, FL. Before 2018, they resided in Boynton Beach and had good dinning experience at this restaurant. Hence upon their visit to our place in West Palm Beach, we agreed on their recommendation and that is how the six of us (including mom), driving in 2 cars, ended up there. Located in a small mall on Hypoluxo Road, Lake Worth, we missed the dimly lit entrance to the mall and had to circle back. Naturally the staff recognized my friend and his wife, yet the welcome was cordial, and not genuinely enthusiastic. The decor is bland and not impressive. The seating was somewhat uncomfortable, especially for my 80 something year old mom. I kept my thoughts to myself, though my wife noticed my disappointed gaze and hinted in our language "hope the food is excellent". When asked, I replied to my buddy, that I was excited to try the food. Yes, RW has an extensive menu. We deferred to Kenny to order the best. For shared starters we had 2 Fried Shrimp Dumplings (8), 1 Steam Spare Rib, 1 Egg Custard Tart, 1 Steam BBQ Pork Buns (4) and 2 Sui Mai (8). From our side the consensus was the Steam BBQ Pork Buns and Sui Mai were both juicy and savory. Each bite left us nodding our heads in approval. I am a big Shrimp dumpling fan, yet my portion was not chewy as I expected it to be. And the next round brought us to Hunan Chicken (2 orders), Mongolian Beef and Young Chow Fried Rice, served as standard portions. Yes 4 entrees for 6 people! At that point I decided to share the Hunan Chicken with my mom as I knew she was not going to finish it by herself. Once again neither my mom nor I could finish the Hunan Chicken, she took a few bites. And as we love our servings spicy, the additional hot sauces brought to the table were sub par in comparison to other hot sauces offered. And did not compliment the Hunan Chicken dish at all. Even with the food being good (the Young Chow Fried Rice, Steam BBQ Pork Buns and Sui Mai), 3.5 stars at best. The price was reasonable being that we ordered 4 entrees and not 6 (under $100). Sadly service is lacking. Common thread in all of the 1 star and 2 star reviews on Yelp. There was no engaging conversation with the server, that definitely shapes a fantastic dinning experience. The staff appeared to be uncaring, unsmiling, and rushed. We wonder why that is so! Please observe that there are 138 reviews with 2 stars or under. And 115 reviews with 4 stars and over. We have been looking for a good Chinese restaurant in the south Florida area, and we finally have found it. Real Wok is by far the best the best we have eaten in. Coming from New York, we crave Chinese food, and it had been the one type of food we could never enjoy. The restaurant is very big with a lot of space between tables. Real Wok is close to us so we come here quite often, it's not the best, but it is really good. They have a good selection of Dim Sum dishes, plus traditional Chinese food. We usually get the Mongolian Beef (really good), Orange Beef (my favorite), Beancurd roll (one of my favorite Dim Sum items) with and the Young Chow Fried Rice (which is delicious). Service is ehh, it's the typical service you get from any Chinese restaurant, the staff is friendly but can be very direct, rushed, etc. The restaurant itself is decent, although could use a facelift, we generally take out. I ordered a chicken chicken with broccoli and the chicken was absolutely disgusting. This was many years ago. I don't know if that was a one-time thing that slipped through standard procedures, which doesn't make any sense, or the suppliers of chicken slip through some slimy veiny chicken without anyone knowing about it or maybe a new chef chopped in some chicken that shouldn't have been chopped in. This was a bunch of years ago over five and I did hear from a waiter when I went back the second time only to complain and I tried to beef with broccoli, he said yes there are complaints about the chicken. The beef with broccoli was fine but I've never been back to that restaurant again. I look through the other reviews and I didn't see anything about slimy chicken and I only saw one review about slimy beef. One review is nothing could even come from a competitor. And maybe it did happen and maybe they were compliance and maybe ultimately the owners either upgraded the level of chicken they used, although the crap that I had didn't look like chicken, or they stopped the bad chef from using bed chicken parts or complain to their suppliers. I've heard some of their other food is pretty good certainly they say they dim sum is good. I just don't see how in Florida you don't have a good chicken dish with good chicken. So I'm wondering if any of you had that same experience. I was trying to read all the reviews all the bad reviews but I was having some issues with my new phone which is probably still in post beta version so there are things jumping around a little bit that shouldn't be and I didn't get to read all the reviews. Good Evening! I would like to say a few things today. I am only putting one star because unfortunately i cannot post the review without one star... Id like to start off by saying as someone who has worked for over 18 years in the restaurant and hospitality industry from miami to Tallahassee opening restaurants and hotels from casual to Michelin i am applaud by the service at this restaurant! On 7-29-2025 at 8:00 Pm My wife and I went to have dinner at Real Wok, upon arrival we were not greeted with hello but with "you're two here sit here". We walked to the table and the server whose name does not appear on check just as w2 but was a mature female asked what we wanted to drink without us even having sat down. After bringing water without giving time immediately asked "what do you want" i in reply said "can we have 5 minutes to look over the menu" that was mind you q 6-8 page booklet. She said "okay" and left came back and asked the same question "what do you want" i had some questions about the menu so i asked about a beef soup that they had on the menu as i wanted to know what else was in the soup. Our server replied while lifting her eyes as to suggesting i was ignorant saying "it says beef noodle soup" "beef and noodle" i then was stunned as the rudeness and unprofessionalism began to show. I proceeded to ask her from the noodle section what she recommended and once again very rudely replied " whatever you want thats for you to pick" i looked over at my wife and proceeded to tell her i wanted to leave and not dine there as our dinner began with failure. She really wanted to eat Chinese food and it was getting late and was worried that by the time we would have gotten there. We then decided to stay there. I opened my rolled silverware and fork still had food debris that had been dried onto it. I told my wife im only going to use the chop sticks. Upon tasting the water it had a foul smell and taste to it and the ice seemed to have mold from the ice machine buried into it. The food came out as per our order 1 shrimp dumplings (They were to be honest one of the better shrimp dumplings that i have had in the area i was shocked) very well done! 8/10 so good i ordered another one! 1 Siu mai (these had to be mediocre at best first of they took 20 minutes to come out after our main entrees were already at the table and they were over cooked shriveled up and noticeably previously frozen product) 2/10 Honey garlic chicken that came with fried rice (not the best mot the worst the sauce was good but not enough so they ended up being partially dry) 4/10 Beef udon noodle ( these were amazing truly a delicacy noodles cooked perfectly and beef tender not over salted and not over sauced just right) 10/10 We ordered two cokes and thats it. After dinner the server came and asked if we wanted to take the left over chicken when server grabbed my plate my chop sticks and proceeded to tell me "you finish and eat chicken" my mind was already blown as to the way they treat customers here. I said just put it to go. After clearing the table the server comes back and drops off the check saying the following "the tip has already been added" my eyes opened wide which is when i grew furious and asked her. "Excuse me? You did what? Where do you state that gratuity is included does it say it on the menu? Did you tell me before i ordered? Who decided how much i should tip? How dare you?" She proceeded to tell me i need because i dont make a minimum wage" insinuating that she did not get paid and strictly lived off of tips! I in turn said "excuse me that is illegal so i highly doubt you are not receiving a paycheck and if so you need to report that to the state!" She stormed off speaking in either mandarin or Cantonese to her peers and supervisor clearly about me based on the situation again rude! Upon returning the check without the gratuity included but the options for selecting my self as viewed up top. I then Went off to tipping appropriately based on quality service rendered! Luckily work in the industry and know how it is i did tip 10% due to lack of manners and respect towards the customer and the establishment. Moral of the story here is you should treat all your customers with respect and be courteous it's a part of the job. The fact that after everything the manager/owner wearing civilian clothing not in uniform didn't even bother to ask what happened pr anything as is she did jot even care what was really happening in her restaurant that to me is repulsive! My only regret is not having stood up and walked away from the beginning when the red flags were flying everywhere. We have been a few times and it is always the best tasting Chinese food we've ever gotten in this area. However, the food is not consistent. Sometimes it is great and sometimes it is just good. The soups are great but today the thick crispy noodles served with were stale. The steamed dumplings are meaty and delicious and the dipping sauce is great. The pork fried rice is our favorite dish - but it does vary from time to time. The service is very efficient and our meal is served with hot tea. It's a nice enough restaurant to dine-in but it seems that much of its business is take out. Good dim sum for what it's worth. Always burning hot- cut it open before eating it so it cools. It's not extraordinary food but it keeps you full enough to make you want a nap. This is not a dim sum experience where they push carts around! You order from a dim sum menu (hot menu items also available). You sacrifice the carts for being seated immediately upon arriving. There's also a bar on the inside although the ambiance isn't 5 stars. It honestly looks a little run down on the inside and out, but don't judge a book by its cover. My family and I have been going to real Wok for years now. We've never dined in and we've taken out roughly 10 years and the food has always been good. In fact I would say better than good. Lately we've been ordering takeout and it's been steadily declining in quality and taste. This past weekend we decided to try and give it another chance and did a takeout order. To our surprise, the food was worse than before. All four dishes ordered were inedible! I couldn't even swallow my moo shu It was awful! We wound up throwing everything out and I will never return back to this establishment. There aren't any good Chinese food restaurants in Florida and this we thought was a great go-to but sadly, they have declined rapidly into a low rate restaurant. It has taken me quite a while to write this review. We have been here a few times and now I feel is the right time to express how I felt. I rarely give a place a 1 Star but if there was a 0 option this place earned it! My mother always said if you don't have anything nice to say , don't say it! (Sorry Mom!) It was okay but it was obviously steamed and gelatinous with the "pan fry" a quick finishing move. Dim Sum combo followed with several items to give us a variety of tastes. Siu Mai was the overwhelming winner. * Do yourself a favor and order a side of hot mustard. It isn't on the table but really adds depth to the dumplings. We tried a couple more items because we were curious. Beef Balls were a strange overcooked tasteless meatloaf ball served with peas and carrots in Worcestershire sauce. Chiu Chao was a delicious pork and peanut dumpling that I could have eaten a few more of, and the steamed custard bun was the perfect ending. Soft and just sweet enough. Service is very friendly and helpful, but slow as hell, put your whole order in when you see him because he won't be back for awhile. My wife felt like Chinese so we went back to Real Wok. My wife ordered an egg roll, the house chop suey and I ordered the wonton soup and the seafood rice. After seeing so many people arguing over Real Wok in Lantana (N. Military & Hypoluxo), figured I'd go back for some Dim Sum today with my daughter. At 1:30 there were about 10 tables occupied. They aren't serving from carts, but that's OK. Overall, it has the feel of a NY Chinatown restaurant. Tom, the waiter, is affable and always remembers you if you've been there before. Har Kow, Shumai, Sticky Rice, pan fried Dumplings, Hong Kong Wonton noodle soup, and a few other dishes. I don't expect it to be NY, SF, Seattle (has an amazing CT) or Shanghai, but it's darn good for a place in the middle of PBC. New owners are nice (3 months).
