A local favorite. Everyone who lives in the valley knows this is the spot for breakfast and lunch. It's busy for a reason :) Well worth the wait even during the Sunday church rush, just remember to be kind and tip your servers, they're working hard. You never have to wait too long for your food, which is excellent. My personal favorite and regular order is the Chicken Fried Steak. Worth your visit any day of the week. I stopped in again today (1 year later). I had lunch today. My "bbq" sauced chicken sandwich with fries was very tasty, and quite eye catching (see picture). I also had an order of toast, which was for my dogs. It was a nice touch that it came with a sliced strawberry on the side. My dining companion enjoyed her burger. Parking can be very tight here, but that is because they are so popular (and also that Montanans tend to drive Pickups and SUVs). I had my dogs with me, and mentioned to the waitress that I could not find a shady spot in which to park, and it was a hot day. She helpfully, and kindly, suggested I leash them to a tree in the rear of the patio seating area. Problem solved. The dogs had shade. I could keep an eye on them. And they enjoyed the order of toast and some fries to boot. Excellent service, friendly staff. read more

My boys and I visited here while on vacation for brunch. It was highly recommended. We arrived a 11 and had to wait an hour for a table. The service was excellent once we were seated. The boys ordered a chicken sandwich and a chicken Cesar salad. I ordered chicken fried steak and eggs. The chicken sandwich was was quite large and came with a mountain of fries. The ceasar salad was also a larger portion and was average. My chicken fried steak was dense and overcooked. It wasn't tenderized enough. The eggs were slightly undercooked. I was seasoned well. I wouldn't order it again. Next time I will try either the eggs Benedict or hamburger. I plan on returning next time we are in Bigfork read more

Went for Sunday brunch last weekend on our way to the north fork! The food was decent nothing to rave about the photos actually look better than the food tasted! The service was ok a bunch of high schoolers as the wait staff. They hover and spill water and coffee during refills... You have been pre-warned. Nice patio seating to enjoy the warm summers! Get here early for some reason every Sunday they end up with a line and a long wait. We beat the rush by 30 min and I'm so glad we did I would have gave this a 2 star rating had I waited for this food. read more

This place doesn't disappoint. Although they had signs expecting delay and patience for service due to understaffing; I didn't notice it one bit. The girls kept my water and coffee full. Cute building. very Montana. The wait staff are friendly and attentive. The restaurant is clean and social distancing is in place. They have hand sanitizer located at the entrance. The music is nice and relaxing for those that enjoy soft country tunes. I ordered a chai to drink and the Spanish omelette. The chai was served in a beer mug and tasted good. The Spanish omelette had lots of black olives and peppers (too much for me). The cheese was stringy. The salsa was good. It was served with house breakfast potatoes which were tasteless and soggy cubed potatoes. I heard some other guests mentioning the hollandaise sauce in their dish was really nice so I want try the Benedict next time. I also had a regular tell me he always has the Rancheros and loves them so I may try those on a future visit. I like this place but I need to find a dish that just does it for me! read more

When I first walked in, I was astonished. The old cabin feel of the place sparked memories of my grandparents' cabin. It was a cold morning and the wait for the inside would be 40 minutes, so we chose to sit outside. The patio the a great setting, lush scenery with a small waterfall. We were cold and then staff members came out and brought of heaters for warmth. Staff: The staff was extremely nice and friendly. My family is very picky about their food and the waiter got our orders 100% perfect. All the tables were nice and clear of UFOs (unidentified food objects). Food: The food was excellent; every bite was like heaven on a plate. I got the banana and chocolate chip pancakes. The banana was the first taste, then followed by the chocolatey taste of the chocolate chips that wasn't too chocolatey due to the sweetness of the pancakes. The eggs on the side were also excellent, but they were a little undercooked and clumpy. (Definitely recommend the chocolate and banana pancakes for breakfast.) The food presentation was OK, I felt the banana pieces on top of my pancake could have been a little neater but that isn't a huge deal because the taste of the food is most important. Service: The customer service was fantastic, our waiter checked on us frequently, but not too much so that it was annoying. The food took a while to come which was a downside but luckily before we sat down they warned us about that because it was so busy. Conclusion: Echo Lake Cafe had great food, service, and settings. The food was heavenly, a lot of love went in to the making of our food. The service was right on point although the food could've came out a little faster. The setting had a warm happy cottage feel to it and brought back happy memories of my grandparents' cabin. Echo Lake cafe is an excellent breakfast place outside Bigfork. For those staying nearby, or possibly traveling to Glacier, etc, I highly recommend stopping. Hot cakes and potatoes were my favorite parts, but everything was good. One of my fellow patrons gave me a bite of their biscuit, which made me wish I had gotten one of those as well. We were fortunate to get there right before a big group of people, so the wait time was not bad, but my guess is that this place can get pretty busy, especially on weekends. So go early--very early. They we're out of things. Breakfast things all perfectly cooked, hot and delicious. every cocktail and espresso drink is carefully crafted, as we had nothing to do but watch them all for a long time.
