Cute little cafe just off of Lonsdale. I ordered breakfast and shortbread cookies. Breakfast was a healthy start to the day with the avocado, eggs, toast and salad. The chai latte was alright. I stopped here for coffe on a very windy and rainy day. To my surprise there were interesting quiche options and tempting pastries. I opted for a gluten free date square and it was amazing! Coffee was great as well. Perfect place to relax close to Lonsdale bur far away from the noise. read more

We wanted to go out for a Sunday morning breakfast. Read the reviews of Echo so decided to go. Got there and was surprised to find that there was parking and the cafe had only 1 person in it. There was a reason for this. We ordered simple eggs and toast, my husband had the bacon also. In short it was miserable!! Firstly, no hashbrowns, one of the eggs was overdone and the whites were tough, and if you call a generic, tasteless slice of bread thrown on the grill "toast" you are surely mistaken. The "toast" was tough, warm bread! The only thing good on the plate was the slice of tomato - let's face it, you can't really screw up a slice of tomato. Will not go back, nor will I recommend it. read more

Update 4 November 2017: The owner has contacted me, apologized for my earlier experience and said staff were advised (I'm assuming to be more lenient as far as the breakfast cutoff time). I really appreciated the contact and will definitely visit. I'm still unable to comment about the food or drinks :-) I was there literally 2 minutes past noon and the place was completely empty. When I asked for a breakfast item, I was told they couldn't make it because breakfast ended at 12. I do understand rules but I also believe that you can bend them a little bit especially when it's only 2 minutes past and you have a single customer in the house. This is definitely one way to lose prospective customers. I can't comment about the quality of food or coffee because I didn't try either. read more

Rad spot for when you need a respite from the LG emerg waiting room because you don't spend enough time in an environment like that and your frazzled nerves need a bit of a break. Dropped in for the "soft opening" of the cafe. Double short espresso was both double and short - which cannot be taken for granted. Rhubarb pastry was very good. I'm a little less heartbroken that the previous cafe in this location closed - at least now I know I'll still be able to get a good espresso. I'll definitely be back. read more

I thought my grill cheese and tomato bisque were excellent. Tony's sandwich, since it was thicker, had cold chicken in the middle. and he complained his soup was not warm enough, and not big enough. My mocha was great and so was the chocolate croissant. read more

This is a really cute place. My husband and I were staying in North Van and decided to check it out for lunch one day. The atmosphere is modern but welcoming and the staff are very friendly. And there are lots of different seating options including a comfy love seat. He ordered the soup and grilled cheese, but asked for ham on the sandwich as well, and was pleased to see that they weren't skimpy with it when it arrived. I ordered the quiche and quinoa salad which were both light and delicious. To go with it I ordered an iced Belgian mocha which was wonderful. They used real chocolate in it not syrup or chocolate milk and both my husband and I enjoyed it thoroughly. We would definitely go back if we were in the area again. read more

We had high expectations for the Echo Cafe because of all the great reviews on Yelp. We came for brunch and the cafe was practically empty... When we walked in it had great ambience but our meals came out one at a time, like 4-5 minutes apart from each other. Mine had to be returned for them to reheat (ordered the country quiche which had wonderful flavor) and upon its return it was still cold in some areas and a few spots so hot it was like an inferno- they may need a new microwave that heats more evenly. My family had various breakfast sandwiches all of which were adequate but nothing to rave about. On a positive side... The coffee is awesome and my caramel latte totally hit the spot. read more

Packed some shortbread to go and I can't wait to eat them! They make them in many different flavours :) if you are in the area, we highly recommend you to go try to them out. read more

Delicious! We ordered the lunch combo - tomato soup with grilled cheese. We also ordered the bacon, eggs and toast as well as some pastries and a breakfast burrito. All the food came out quickly and was delicious! Sorry - no photos! We were starving and ate it too fast! I'd definitely recommend this place! My one concern is the seating - we were a party of 6 which made it tough. We all had to seperate. Worth it for the delicious food though! read more

The quiche was disgusting. Staff could not answer questions such as where is the bread from? The seats are very very uncomfortable and fall backwards when you hang you coat on them. The tomato soup was amazing though. Will not be returning and am puzzled as to it's review for breakfast with so few options. read more

My husband and I are visiting from California and stopped here for lunch. The avocado veggie panini and chicken salad wrap were recommended to us, and they were DELICIOUS!!! I wish I had taken a picture of the food but we ate it too fast :) The bread and flavors were so good. The young woman who helped us was very kind and helpful. I ordered the chicken pesto sandwich and bit into a small (white) rock. I got a refund which I think is the bare minimum in terms of compensation. The owner was very, very apologetic and nice about it, but one side of my mouth was in pain all day. I will visit the dentist soon and see if there is any damage. So far there is no follow up from the cafe's suppliers, so I cannot comment on that yet. I loved the food (besides the rock), so I would love to come back here once they have resolved this issue. read more

I think I found my new coffee spot! An errand took me off the beaten path today to 14th. I usually grab something on Lonsdale but I remembered that this "red" cafe was nice so I went in. I was warmly welcomed by the new husband and wife owners. Most of my praise would only be an "echo", as the friendliness, quality food, and pride in their products have already been mentioned. I enjoyed chatting with the wife (didn't get her name yet) and hearing about the challenge of sourcing truly organic teas that also have flavour. As a result, she has less of a selection but they are all very high-quality. I value quality over quantity any day (all of their food ingredients are organic as well) so I admire her discernment and integrity. But, I wasn't there for tea this time ... coffee!! I had an excellent Americano. They also have some interesting, home-baked shortbread - flavours like Earl Grey and Green Tea. I said they would make a nice gift and she said she packages it up prettily in a box. I think the warmth and enthusiasm of these folks, and of course their delicious offerings, should be rewarded with lots of customers! I will make sure to return soon and often. read more
