The paper Dosa is really big. Ample sambhar and chutney are also served. You cannot go wrong with the pastries for something sweet after the meal. Service: the service is subpar. Their pastries and cakes are nice light and not too sweet. Thier paapdi chat is noce but their food is not good with takeout as even if u request them thry dont pack their chutneys and sauce seperate so it gets really soggy and not edible hence three stars. Also if u order idlys they give u sambhar but i once asked for just plain sambhars for taking home but they dont do that. I was ready to pay for it but they refused. There seems to be a fair variety of bakeries in downtown Princeton, but there's something that makes this one different. No, besides being in the middle of a bedroom community. It has the mainstays to be sure: tiramisu, creme brulee, etc. They're all individual size and look tasty. Given the name, it's no surprise they also have full size decorated sheet cakes and the like. Personally, I only have a mild sweet-tooth, so I actually headed to the shelves on the right as you enter the door. The fact that this is actually an Indian bakery then becomes apparent, with Mava (Khoya) bread, and the rather large but otherwise generic looking dinner rolls labeled as Pav bread. I have yet to try the Mava, but the Pav is actually really well done - moist, soft, and a hint of actual flavor and character to it. A completely different level from what you'd find in any supermarket bakery section. That's right, I'm writing this review based on "plain" bread rolls. I believe the care taken on the simple things shows a lot about a business. Is the bread before an Italian meal worth eating? Is the rice in sushi or in a donburi a good variety, or does it need to be covered in sauce? I will definitely be back to try the fancy bits another time when my sweet-tooth comes out to play. read more

I had the chicken tandoori roll. The chicken was tasty, but the roll was kinda gushy. I would still like to try their falafel, some of the mumbai dishes, and dosa. The ambiance of the place needs serious work. There's random paintings that clearly have nothing to do with the type of baked goods or food they are serving. The roll reminded me quite a bit of Kati Roll, especially because it was nice and overpriced the way most Kati Roll places are. $6.25 plus tax for one Chicken Roll is really over priced. Excellent South Indian food! Nothing beats home cooked idlis and dosas but this place comes pretty close out of the many South Indian restaurants I've tried. Service is fast and the place is neat. There's indoor seating but can get pretty crowded on the weekends leaving no place to sit. The bakery part.. Delicious, fluffy, eggless cakes!! Im gonna give this place a five star because it seems to be underrated by other yelpers. I would have never thought that this place has banging dosas from their name "cake walk" lol but they do!! I love any dish with potato and dosa has lots of potato filling so I really enjoy it. The only down side is the fact that I am not familiar with all the foreign names on the menu.. it would be helpful to have an explanation of what the food actually is under the foreign name. We like to stop by Cake Walk for the dosas, vada (lentil donuts), uppatham (onion and pepper pancakes), and idli (steamed bread). All of them are quite tasty, especially when you get them freshly cooked. The Gobi Manchuria roll, on the other hand, isn't all that good. All orders come with spicy dhal and a coconut chutney that is so delicious that the leftover often gets taken home. Try not to show up right before closing, because you might end up getting stale, lukewarm snacks that have been sitting in the kitchen for a while. Beware of this place .. they say they make EGGLESS CAKES and in fact they are not, My daughter is allergic to egg and she ate their cake twice , both the times she ended up with bad egg allergy and we had to take her to Doctor. When i called these people asking what is the ingredients they started being defensive and said they are using eggless cake mix and they dont know the ingredients of the cake mix. They're really 4 stars but I want to bump up their rating to an appropriate 4 stars on yelp so I'm giving 5. I got their paneer tikka panini. So delicious! It's a big sandwich and very tasty. They have rosemary in their panini bread which adds to the flavor. It's just spicy enough to not take away from the taste. It's a popular choice as while I was waiting for it to come out a bunch of other customers came in ordering the same thing. I saw some other customer get a huuuuge dosa. I might try that next time. Well, I will tell you that you should probably try and steer clear of their fusion and let them cook what they know. We've had a few of their fusion items, such as the chicken tikka panini and the chicken handi sandwich. Meh. They are good ideas, VERY poorly executed. On the other hand, their straight from South India dishes are great! Whether you're looking an entire meal or a quick snack after work, you really can't go wrong. After doing some grocery shopping at the asian market, feeling hungry and curious decided to check out this place. Walking in the smells (if you enjoy middle eastern cuisine) were so inviting. After reviewing the menu and coming across somethung I recognized I ordered the falafel wrap. As I waited, I questioned the guy behind the counter on some of the items people were ordering so I know what to order next tine. He was very friendly and open to describing what they were. My falafel wasn't what I'm used to. Typically falafel are round shape in a Naan wrap but this was more of a spread in a panini which was great and the flavors were really good and the price was a nice bonus. There is a good collection of South Indian dosas, vadas, and the likes. My favorite is the sambar vada, but is unfortunately available only on weekends. The Dosas, Idlys, Uthappams, etc are prepared fresh and are nice, hot, and very edible. Besides the South Indian items, there are sandwich varieties and other street food (prepared safely away from the streets!). The wraps, paninis, etc are quite good as well -- and very filling. In addition, there are all kinds of puffs with all kinds of vegetarian and non-vegetarian fillings (I for myself am a vegetarian and cannot speak for the meaty kind). Other things to try -- those pastries that are single serve. This is not a proper sit-down restaurant even though there is place to sit. The constant crowd movement makes it noisy and cold in winter. I'm not of Indian background, so am still a little confused about a lot of the menu choices, but I've really enjoyed the dosas (like a thin crepe filled with potato curry), and the curry puffs are outstanding. It's very cheap, and the staff are always friendly. Be sure to save room for a cookie or cake for dessert.
