    Dubai parfait (very good!)
    Vince S.

I don't usually start with 5 stars on a first visit unless I'm very familiar with the cuisine or business. I feel it is warranted here and plan to go back in a few days to confirm this. I am familiar with desserts in general, and on this one township road there are already 2 very good choices nearby, with others scattered about in a few mile radius. SS felt different to me, and seemed to have found a niche that I hope will be appreciated by others too. This is a middle Eastern pastry shop, and I had the chance to briefly speak with the owner and baker, I regret not asking more questions. But I have a good excuse, I was more focused on looking at the items available. On this day there were 4 choices of baklava, I'm happy with the pie sized slice of chocolate pistachio. Crispy and slightly sweet top and bottom, with a tasty chocolate pistachio filling. The one that got away was a more syrupy version in a decorative tin that I plan on buying next. The front case contained, for lack of a better word, parfaits and a few more traditional European pastries. I went with the Dubai parfait, maybe my favorite dessert of the year ?? Layers of pastry cream with a chocolate cake bottom and chocolate ganache top. The pistachio layer was thick and had great texture and flavor. Other items observed were several chunky soft looking cookies that will be included in my next haul. Also interesting crispy tea cookies of intriguing flavors. These were packaged ready to go and would be nice in gift baskets. The shop itself is cute, if you are not allergic to pink;). As for me, I'll hit and run, and then mutter to myself when I finally start eating the items.

So happy my husband introduced me to this gem of a bakery!!! I just stopped by today to get more amazing cookies and try another Persian sweet. The zaban, I know I'm saying this incorrectly, however the most amazing, light, delicate Persian sweet. The dusting of pistachios and honey drizzle was a perfect combination to the flaky, light pastry. I can't wait to eat the cookies later. I'm so very excited to try more sweets from here.

Went to lawrenceville and found this place . It's an awesome bakery . Wow . A hidden gem . Fonts and display outside could be better . Doesn't look like a bakery from outside . Tough to spot this with the cursive fonts . This place is surely "not to miss" bakery, .. they had baklava , pista sweets , Dubai chocolate sweets etc . Was too tempting . Got chocolate croissant and I shoood tell you , it's one of the best I have ever had in NJ . Tried few other dessserts and it was really good . Coffee could be better . Lots of parking outside . Good experience overall . Good service too .

Sorry, but your response is a lie and what I have attached proves it. Also, you have the same "reviewers" spamming your ratings. I have attached the exact review, photos of what you sent, along with other reviewers having similar complaints. There are similar complaints on Doordash and you have a 4.4 Yelp rating. Lying is bad for business, getting caught worse. You cannot send a blob of oil and slime in a bag for $10 and expect no reaction. The photos I posted speak for themselves along with the other negative reviews on there. As a patron, it is important to share our experiences so that good businesses can do better and we are protected from ones that do not do the right thing. Three photos were submitted on the order. Support agreed the cookie was unacceptable and did not appear to have pistachios in it. We gave you the benefit of the doubt and asked if it was perhaps a mistake. We opened the cookie and showed top, bottom, and inside in the photos. We also submitted a photo of what was advertised. The resolution I would expect is for a business to check with the kitchen and verify what happened not to argue over whether the word visit applies. Do you fight with anyone who you send bad product to? We have agreed we will not be going back at this point. Frankly, the portions were tiny, the prices excessive for the quality ($40 for three single-serving bakery items), and there are many warm and friendly bakeries in Princeton who respect and appreciate their customers. __________________________

Case in point, Pillsbury's Tunnel of Fudge Bundt Cake contests in the late 60's/early 70's that brought the heretofore niche German ring cake to homemaker prominence in the US. The specter of the Pillsbury Dough Boy dressed as a latter day Burgher Meister/Meister Burgher was truly comedy gold. That doughy androgenous spokesthing was truly they/them before those designations were even on the cultural horizon. You might even say the Doughboy was the Ziggy Stardust of Package Goods marketing. He did however bring the Bundt Cake into the mainstream for which I am eternally grateful. All of which is to say that Nothing but Bundt Cakes is terrific offering these high density circular treats with enough sweet icing to melt your molars. Great stuff all around and in the bakery desert known as Princeton a very welcome addition. Five very easy stars.

The woman at the counter welcomed me and let me know they had samples of red velvet cake to try. After having their red velvet cake with chocolate chips inside, I loved how these did not. Even in small portions, the cake was amazing. A couple of days prior, I received an email about their new churro bundt cakes, so I already knew which one I wanted. I appreciated how the icing and chocolate drizzle were soft on top. The cake itself was moist (one thing they nail every time). The star of the show was the chocolate drizzle that oozed from the inside when you got to the center. This cake is easily a 10/10.

I came…read moreacross a post on social media about a magazine naming The Gingered Peach as one of the best bakeries in New Jersey. From there, I gave them a follow on social media and checked out their website. Sadly, the bakery is about an hour from where I live, but it's about 15-20 minutes from where I work. However, they usually close at 3 pm, which means I would be scrambling in right before they close or I may not make it at all. Bummer! Needless to say, I saw they do dessert orders for the holidays, so that was my golden opportunity! For Thanksgiving, I ordered a purple sweet potato pie and a banana pudding pie. I got to select the date that I'd be picking up my pies, which was on a day that I had to go to the office. During the week leading up to Thanksgiving, the bakery was closed for regular operations. They were only open for dessert pick ups. The pies were a hit! The banana pudding pie was everyone's favorite. Needless to say, for Christmas, a larger order was placed for banana pudding pie, salted honey pie, apple crumb pie, and mashed potato rolls. Now for Christmas, the bakery was open for regular operations and you had to pick up your pre-ordered desserts at their sister business, Melba Ice Creamery, around the corner. Because it was Christmas Eve and I already had a slew of sweets pre-ordered, I decided not to try to go to the bakery that day. Nevertheless, the goods were a hit again! The only downside is that the crust on the banana pudding pie was a little different the second time around, making it tougher to slice and get out of the pan. It was still tasty though! Would I return? Absolutely!

That said, I don't believe in writing a place off after a single average experience, so I decided to give it a second chance. This time, I ordered two different viral crunches along with a croissant. Unfortunately, the results were disappointing across the board. The Mixed Berry Crunchy was cute in presentation, but that was its only redeeming quality. There was no bold--or even subtle--mixed berry flavor. At $10, it felt wildly overpriced and not worth the calories. Next was the Lemon Crunchy, which is supposed to feature a lemon blueberry flavor. As someone who loves lemon, I had high expectations, but once again it was bland and forgettable. Since this is a bakery, I also tried a fresh croissant and asked for it to be warmed. The staff accommodated the request, and it smelled incredible. It was warm, light, and flaky--but sadly, the flavor fell flat. A light brushing of butter on top would have gone a long way. For me, this is strike two. Unfortunately, Lilla Vanilla just isn't worth the money or the calories. Based on my experience--mediocre service on the first visit, bland and overpriced featured items on the second, and only neutral-to-slightly-positive notes on the croissant--I'd rate it 2 out of 5 . I seriously contemplated giving them 1 star but to be fair, the viral crunchy presentation was appealing and the croissant did have good texture (even if the flavor missed).
