As someone who loves lemon, I had high expectations, but once again it was bland and forgettable. Since this is a bakery, I also tried a fresh croissant and asked for it to be warmed. The staff accommodated the request, and it smelled incredible. It was warm, light, and flaky--but sadly, the flavor fell flat. A light brushing of butter on top would have gone a long way. For me, this is strike two. Unfortunately, Lilla Vanilla just isn't worth the money or the calories. Based on my experience--mediocre service on the first visit, bland and overpriced featured items on the second, and only neutral-to-slightly-positive notes on the croissant--I'd rate it 2 out of 5 . I also got a piece of vanilla crumb cake since that jumped out at me. Both were a solid 4/5, with the cream-filled donut getting a slight edge in the taste department. The vanilla crumb cake was a huge slice, ideal for sharing or splitting up into multiple pieces. Service was friendly and prices on par with other area bakeries, with both items running just under $6 total. While I probably wouldn't venture out of my way to visit again, I would happily return if I was passing through the area in need of baked goods or treats, as I'm happy to support local businesses like these.

Sometime there are great sales, other times, paying full price will put a dent in your wallet. The staff is always friendly and show their care despite typically being teenagers. Gender Reveal Ruined-- Followed By The Worst Customer Service I've Ever Experienced…read more I have never written a negative review in my life, but this experience was so upsetting and handled so poorly that I feel obligated to share it. I ordered a gender reveal cake and was extremely clear from the very beginning that this was for a gender reveal and that I needed blue on the inside and white on the outside. When I placed the order, I gave very specific directions: white on the outside, blue on the inside. I even provided a photo of exactly what I wanted. Later that same day, I called back to confirm again: white on the outside, blue on the inside. Then when I picked the cake up, I had a third confirmation point. They read the instructions back to me and again confirmed it was supposed to be white on the outside and blue on the inside. I even verbally confirmed one more time before leaving the store. So there were three separate touch points of communication confirming the exact same thing. This cake was for my first baby's gender reveal. This was a once-in-a-lifetime moment for my husband and our family. I spent time planning this, buying flowers, an outfit, and setting up something incredibly special for us. When we cut the cake during the reveal -- while filming -- the inside was completely white. No blue. Nothing. The entire moment was ruined. My husband found out we were having a boy in the most anticlimactic, confusing way possible. It was heartbreaking and honestly humiliating to have planned something so meaningful only for it to completely fall apart because of a mistake that was confirmed THREE separate times. What made this exponentially worse was the customer service afterward. When I called the next morning, I was met with rudeness and condescension. Later, when someone finally called me back, I was literally asked if I was "sure" there wasn't blue inside -- as if I didn't just cut into and dig through my own cake. I had to prove their mistake by sending photos. During that same call, I explained how rude the first person I spoke to had been. The response I got was essentially, "Yeah... she really shouldn't be answering the phone" and that she's not very good at customer service. That honestly left me speechless. If someone is not good at customer service, why are they the person answering customer calls? Especially when those calls are about major life events and serious issues? It was one of the strangest, most unprofessional interactions I have ever had with a business in my life. At no point initially did anyone apologize. I had to be visibly upset and crying before anyone even attempted to say sorry. Even the owner never called me directly -- he texted asking me to call him about a refund. When I did call, there was still no real apology, just discussion about money. Let me be very clear: This was never about the $50. This was about ruining one of the most meaningful milestones of my life and then treating me like I was an inconvenience when I called about it. People make mistakes. I understand that. But how you handle the mistake is what defines your business -- and this was handled terribly from start to finish. I have never been treated so badly by so many people from one business, especially over something tied to a major life event. I will never use this bakery again, and I will absolutely be sharing this experience with others so they can make an informed decision. If you are trusting them with an important life event, I strongly suggest reconsidering.

Lisa and her partner were so very friendly and allowed me to sample several kinds of cheesecakes that she makes in at 500 square foot industrial kitchen that is attached to her house in Lawrenceville. The first one was the Oreo cheesecake, and it was like biting into a creamy, decedant oreo cookie. Next was the lemon, creamy on the tongue with a lovely lemony finish. The orange cranberry was a sweet and tangy surprise and the cannoli cheesecake - well let's just say I did not miss the crunchy shell!! But they really surprised me when I tasted something I never thought I would have on the East Coast - their huckleberry cheesecake! That is right East Coasters huckleberry was not only a blue hound created by Hanna Barbara, but it is also a sweet-tart little berry that is jam-packed with flavor. So much tastier than its cousin the blueberry. Now I have only had huckleberries in the Wyoming/Montana area of the country and every time someone goes out there I beg them to bring me back some huckleberry jam. Lisa explained to me that huckleberries can also be found in the Poconos and there is a small three week window for which they can be harvested so every year she and her partner trek on up and gather as much huckleberries as they can to create this amazing cheesecake and let me tell you if you never had huckleberries, you need to get your butt either over to Jackson Hole, Wyoming or stay on the East Coast and pick one up at The Great American Cheesecake. All of the cheesecakes are light and creamy, they are not overly sweet and extremely flavorful. There is a touch of Grand Marnier in the cannoli cheesecake and rum and coffee liquer in the tiramisu cheesecake (the only I think I did not have the pleasure of sampling). The Great American Cheesecake has been in existence for two years, Lisa tells me she works full-time but sweets are her passion. She chose to focus on just one thing - making the best cheesecakes she can. She gets the creamy texture by using a cream cheese base, and depening on the cake she will do a mixture of mascapone or ricotta. The cheesecakes are nice and light, creamy and have a great finish on the tongue. Well Lisa, you have done a fine job. Keep playing with flavors, don't be afraid to try new combinations, I will be stopping by for more huckleberry and can not wait to get a tour of the kitchen! Folks, if you are missing Michele Laurie cheesecake, give The Great American Cheesecake a try - I honestly do not believe you will be disappointed, in fact, like me - you will become a huge fan!
