While the interiors are modest, they make great use of the little space they have with a bakery counter and tables with a selection of seasonal/holiday treats. They had a decent variety of Easter themed cupcakes, chocolates, and cookies when I stopped in. Since it was my first time there, I asked the staff member what she recommended, and she beamed at me grabbing me a long cream-filled donut. I also got a piece of vanilla crumb cake since that jumped out at me. Both were a solid 4/5, with the cream-filled donut getting a slight edge in the taste department. The vanilla crumb cake was a huge slice, ideal for sharing or splitting up into multiple pieces. Service was friendly and prices on par with other area bakeries, with both items running just under $6 total. While I probably wouldn't venture out of my way to visit again, I would happily return if I was passing through the area in need of baked goods or treats, as I'm happy to support local businesses like these. read more

The owners have kept the exterior as it was when this place opened many years ago. Upon opening the door, you are met with the warm aroma of sugar, flour and other goodness. Many wonderful pies, cakes, cookies, and of course, their famous donuts. I particularly enjoyed their long donuts - perfectly fried, fluffy, filled with vanilla cream, which was smooth and just the amount of perfect sweetness. They do lots of custom orders, and do a lot to support the local schools. I recall seeing nice music themed cookies for sale which were in support of the middle school music program I believe. Very nice. We were lucky enough to meet the owner; she was enthusiastic, helpful and the perfect person to continue the joy of this bakery. Lots of parking side and back. A friend of mine recommended this place and said that it's been around 98 years! So I got their famous cream, filled doughnut, and it was very yummy! I also picked up a spinach breakfast pastry for the next morning. I did eat it, and it was very beautiful and very delicious. The decor has a beautiful and preciously retro decor. I loved seeing the old photos and the nostalgic feeling you get from being here. I also really loved being cared for by the staff. There is nothing sleek or modern about it, and thank goodness for that. It feels honest. I asked them for a custom Green Day themed birthday cake for my wife, who has always appreciated a slice of nostalgia served with her celebrations. What they made was perfect. It looked like something straight out of their most recent album art, vivid and clever and alive. It also tasted like joy. The cake was moist, the frosting smooth without being cloying, every detail cared for as if it mattered. And it did. The people there are professionals in the old sense of the word, which means they take their work seriously. You can see it in the variety of their offerings, from doughnuts to Danish, all lined up like little proofs that craftsmanship still exists. In a world where everything is turning into a brand and every bakery is trying to sell you the same glossy mediocrity, Eet Gud stands as a small act of rebellion. This bakery had some of the best and freshest donuts you could get in town. Their donuts were never dry and they always were filled with plenty of filling. The ambiance was always nice because of the fresh smells of baked goods and goodies. And the staff were always extremely friendly. The best part about their donuts wasn't just that they were never dry, but they always had plenty of filling no matter what donut you got. Get a jelly filled its filled to the point where every bite has jam. Get a Boston Creme every bit of it will have custard or creme to fill you up. Eet Gud is our Saturday destination for post-theater class treats. It's no surprise I chose them for my mom's birthday cake. My mom is a huge fan of black and white cookies. I brought my inspiration picture and Tracey and her decorator handily managed the details: mini cookies, ganache top, chocolate cake layer, vanilla custard layer, vanilla cake layer and vanilla buttercream frosting. Everyone raved about the cake, even the cake haters! My husband who is not a fan of cake and icing asked for this exact cake for his birthday. I don't know if it is bad luck or what, but the last three times we have come here, we have gotten stale donuts. Each time I say I will give them another chance, but I think I have to call it. The first time I went we went in the middle of the day and I chalked it up to that maybe. We got the "famous long john's". There wasn't much cream and the dough was just stale. Then we went again on a Saturday morning and same thing! We thought maybe we just ended up getting a batch of yesterday's donuts. We decided to give it one more chance this week. My boyfriend had a minor surgery early Monday morning and I wanted to treat him. We got one chocolate delight, a long john and an old fashion sour cream. Same thing! The long john was so stale, and barely any cream, the old fashion sour cream was way over fried and yet still stale, and the chocolate delight had a good amount of cream, but the dough was just stale. How could donuts be stale at 9 am on a Sunday morning? Terrible! And they are not cheap!!! Will not be coming back!

I was so excited to try Eet Gud Bakery after reading my fellow Yelpers raving reviews. Alas, my experience did not live up to the hype. I ordered a selection of 5 donuts on Friday around 3. The Good: Service was wonderful. Super friendly, upbeat and the girl even threw in a free donut, since I was a first time customer. The free donut was the special Long Johns. And this particular donut was delicious; soft, fresh and creamy on the inside. There's a vast selection of other pastries, cookies and cakes to chose from. Perhaps, next time that is the way to go. The Bad: My other donuts were not so Gud! The Coconut Ring and Chocolate Ring were both extremely dry. Not what I would expect from a bakery where their donuts are baked fresh each day. Even a Dunkin Donut (not my favorite) is fresher than these two offerings. The blueberry donut and apple cinnamon were better. If it's later in the day, I think the best option is to stick with the Long Johns and try some of the other fresh baked goods in the counters. I'll definitely stop back next time in the area, but this first visit left me underwhelmed. read more

I never heard of this place until my friend told me about it and said I have to try it if I like a traditional and fresh bakery. I was so excited to try it once I heard this. I got to the bakery early in the morning when they opened which I recommend coming because everything is fresh then. I got the long John, a sugar donut, French crullers, and some bread. I've lived in the area for many many years and I always hear how this place is so good and the community loves it. I decided to stop in last minute for my mother's birthday to see if they would have a small dessert and a candle for me so it would be a one stop shop. I was able to be helped right away, the customer service was very friendly with extra help and finding answers answers to questions I had about certain desserts. I hate to go down a star on my closest neighborhood bakery, but after a handful of recent less that four star experiences I must. On my last 4 or 5 visits, when I was usually just looking for a small tidbit to fill my sweet tooth, I came away with sometimes stale and other times bland deserts. And every time felt like they were over priced. Part of the problem is lack of signage with descriptions and costs. And the logic they use on pricing overall escapes me. For example, the donuts( which are probably the safest bet) are around a buck. But a similar size fruit filled doohickey( with little filling) can be over 3. Once when I just wanted a chocolate chocolate chip cookie, the cashier knew they " might" be stale and let me taste it first, she was correct. Their bread comes mainly from a well know area chain bakery and can be purchased there for less. The land and building has been on the market for awhile now, and it was very close to being purchased by a well known and more upscale bakehouse. That fell through but it seems like their days are numbered. I'm not completely giving up on this oasis from my childhood, just being more selective when craving something sweet. read more

I was nearby Eet Gud Bakery and had to stop by to pick up some treats. They were....... Bear Claw (Cheese-filled) 4.0/5.0: Basically an arc shaped Danish, this cheese-filled version was very good. I particularly enjoyed the cheese filling with a robust cream cheese flavor. The crackled sweet glaze on top was nice too. Note that besides cheese, the Bear claw is also available with various fruit fillings. Donut (Powdered custard) 4.0/5.0: Another enjoyable experience as the donut pastry was soft and just sweet enough from the powdered sugar. The custard was properly made; perfect consistency and mild flavor. Ladylocks (also known as Cream Horns) 5.0/5.0: Having previously purchased and enjoyed these delicacies, me and my sister had to get them again. Thankfully I can report we experienced the same indulgent tastes from before...........a must try! Long John (Chocolate cream) 4.5/5.0: I had to try this pastry after reading many lauding yelp reviews and it was definitely praise worthy! The pastry portion was light, soft, and buttery. As you walk into Eet Gud, you are greeted by a friendly lady who you instantly want to adopt as your own grandmother. The counter ladies have also probably been working here forever and are sweet as pie. Sadly it looks like the bakery which was once a hot commodity, is now not serving as many customers. There are still a few great choices, but when encountered with tons of empty shelves it leaves you wanting more. I got a Boston creme, a stick donut, a glazed, an apple cider, a cinnamon bun and a pumpkin.....no I did not eat all of them myself. I did however cut them all into 4's and taste them ALL....for the sake of this review only of course. Like Amalia said, I think the creme filled donut was OVERKILL, wayyy too much. The pumpkin was my least favorite, it wasn't pumpkin-y enough. I was surprised at how much I liked the Boston creme, mostly because the filling wasn't overwhelming and the regular glazed which of course never gets old anywhere. The others were just good, and exactly what I expected. The size of the donuts are pretty large, and great price (just bring cash if you are spending under $10). I will return, for some of a slice of cake, which looked great and the breads smelled delicious too. Plus I can't get enough of the grannies behind the counter and the "everything is made from scratch" sign. Places like these, that seemed to be stuck in a time long ago have such a sweet allure. So yes, come here to support a great local bakery instead of a dunkin donuts, so these grannies can keep their bakery thriving. read more
