Awesome pastries here at Kalmans. I usually do not eat cream pies, but their Boston Custard Cream pies and cakes. Cinnabons are delicious here too. Bakery blew me away with all the dfferent cakes and pies. Awesome place to have a snack if you have a sweet tooth. read more

I first saw this Bakery posted on a FB reshare and couldn't believe it was only 3 miles away...I made my way over the next day. On my first trip I purchased a sticky bun walnut bread poppy bread and a couple other random items. I devoured the sticky bun as soon as I got home, I love sticky buns with walnuts, and this one was exceptional. The walnut bread was also delicious! I recently went back to try some more items, I bought the husband this time...just like the first time we were greeted by the friendly owner, and helped right away. We picked another assortment of pastries including this huge cheese danish. Again the sticky buns were devoured as soon as we got home. They were fresh, and full of quality ingredients...I would highly recommend this small local bakery for your family's baked good needs. Great family-owned bakery! All kinds of tasty treats available. Fresh homemade donuts on the weekends (Fridays through Sundays). All delicious, but my favorite is the chocolate-glazed custard-filled (Boston cream)... very generous amount of velvety custard, tucked into a pocket of tender yeasty dough... just perfect. Stopped on Saturday morning for donuts. Not a large variety which is ok. There were only a few donuts left in the case but it was later in the morning so I figured they had just sold out. Purchased a half dozen donuts. When I got home one of the donuts was fresh and the rest were all a day old. If you're going to sell day old product, you should let people know when they are buying. Other pastries looked good would give it another shot. read more

If you are ever curious about what goes on in Roebling, NJ, the former company town owned by the steel company by that name, Kalman Bakery offers another tasty reason to satisfy your history bug. The row houses down near the river are interesting, although this burg has definitely seen happier days. But, plan to stop at Kalman's for a sweet treat on your way out of town. This family operation bakes up very good cookies, cakes and donuts at low budget prices to meet the needs of the community. The coffee is decent, too. When I visited last week in the late morning, I was the only customer. I was greeted by a woman behind a high refrigeration display case. She explained that everything was made there, and that Tuesday was the start of their week and all was freshly baked. The traditional Old Fashioned donut looked like a blooming flower, while the Glazed was a pillow of sweetness and light. So good with the java washdown. Now that I know where it is hidden, I will be back to Kalman's as time and sweet tooth allow. read more

This is a decent little bakery. I think the people that love it are probably locals. I see it a lot; grow up in the area and think the food and drinks are the best in the state. This place wasn't bad but it wasn't amazing. I bought two donuts and another little pastry. I wasn't blown away by any of them. I will say the lady working the counter was very nice however and she took the time to answer all of my questions and tell me what her favorites were. So I always appreciate that. The food just isn't amazing though so I gave it three stars. If you pass it, it's worth a stop in. It's just not worth going out of your way for. Parking is decent and there is a bar across the street so that is nice. read more

If you're a fan of flavorful sugar cookies, this is a destination for you. The hint of almond makes the cookies especially tasty. We shared the cookies and an apple crumble that was also good. This after we split a *huge* hoagie. Plenty of meat and cheese with lettuce and tomato on a fresh baked bun. The soda was a bit pricey but everything else was a good deal. We enjoyed sitting at the picnic benches out front with our dog who got her own treats from the pet store next door. A very pleasant picnic. read more

Never been disappointed with the deli or bakery. Front staff is always efficient and friendly regardless of how many customers are waiting. Pretty sure it's a family business with actual family working there which makes me even happier. They sell day old items at a discount instead of passing it off fresh like other places. read more

I am giving them 5 stars for their donuts! They make a terrific powdered cream donut (long john). All of their donuts are delicious and always fresh. They have expanded in the past couple years to include a little deli section and for $5 you can get a hot sandwich and a soda at lunch time, in addition to their selection of homemade salads. If you buy 4 pounds of lunch meat (@$3.99/lb) you get a dozen rolls of your choice for free. Their breads are not just fresh, but reasonable and a great addition to dinner. They have ruined me for all other donut shops. read more

If I could give Kalman's 1/2 star, I would. When you walk in, it appears dingy and dirty. As I looked around, the thought of eating anything from this place was very unappealing to me, but nevertheless I gave it a shot. Was very disappointed. The meat and cheese I purchased was not fresh and seemed lower grade than what I normally buy from my local grocery store deli. Looked at the pastries and donuts and they didn't seem like anything I would want to waste calories on either. Stay away from this place! read more

To Heather ^ everyone knows that Monday is their day old day and half price that has never changed!!! everything is made fresh Daily and always delicious. Waiting 5 mins for service is NOTHING they slice all their meats and cheeses fresh when ordered nothing is pre sliced sorry it doesn't magically appear in a minute it takes time for something good and you obviously don't realize that and just want to complain for no reason. In my opinion Best bakery I've ever been to!! it bothers me that people complain when they have no idea what they're talking about. read more
