‼ Long Post Alert: Dissatisfied Customer at Hot Chicken Flaming Feather Burger (Lawrenceville, NJ - Next to Costco)‼ I really hate that I even have to make this post, especially with everything else going on in life, but I feel it's important to share my experience. Today, I found a long black hair in my food at Hot Chicken Flaming Feather Burger in Lawrenceville, NJ. Naturally, I lost my appetite. I don't know about you, but once I see a hair in my food, I can't eat anymore. It's done for me at that point. We had spent $60 on our meal. When I brought it to their attention, the manager took the food and asked if I wanted something else. I politely declined and said I'd prefer a refund. That's when things started going left. Instead of simply apologizing and refunding the money, the owner came out aggressive, questioning me, demanding to know whether I saw his staff wearing hairnets. He tried to turn the situation on me like it was my fault. He said he could only refund the money if I could confirm whether I saw them wearing hairnets or not. Huh?? I found a hair in my food -- why are we even arguing? Then, it escalated further. He tried to kick us out without giving us our money back. He only wanted to refund the cost of the one item (the chicken taco) that had the hair in it -- not the rest of the meal, even though we didn't eat any more of it after that. And yes, the attitude stayed nasty. Aggressive tone. No accountability. Just rude. So I had no choice but to call the police -- not because we were aggressive, but because the situation was escalating and we were being threatened and disrespected. We needed protection. Once the cops arrived, it was deemed a civil matter, so the owner reluctantly gave us a refund for just the taco -- $13 out of the $60. That's it. To make matters worse, my husband had generously paid for the meals of three students behind us, and didn't even ask for that money back. We just wanted a refund for our own food that we couldn't eat. And if that wasn't enough -- I later got a call from the police saying someone claimed an "African American was being aggressive" at the restaurant. Excuse me? That is not our responsibility and certainly not true about us. Let's not try to twist the story. So, I'm making this post to say: I was a paying customer. I found a hair in my food. I was mistreated, disrespected, and denied basic customer service. I was threatened and then racially stereotyped afterward. Do NOT support Hot Chicken Flaming Feather Burger in Lawrenceville, NJ. They don't value customers. They don't value respect. They don't value basic decency. Especially to my Black community -- please stop spending money where you are disrespected and disregarded. This was an awful and embarrassing situation. I'll say it again: DO NOT EAT THERE.

    Wagyu smash burger

The wagyu burger was decent, nothing insane flavor wise but a good meal. The wait times can be quite long though and the service could definitely be friendlier. The shop is pretty nice inside though with the decor and lots of seating. Price is too expensive for what you're paying for in my opinion.

It's good. Nice spicy sandwich. I like the country music flare but a bit more money to buy a sandwich.

Review for Meatheadz - Lawrence Township, NJ…read more After hearing a NJ Transit conductor rave about Meatheadz, I finally decided to check it out--and I'm glad I did. This place absolutely lives up to the hype. I went with the Plain cheesesteak with fried onions and pepper jack cheese on a seeded bun, along with an order of Meatheadz loaded fries. Let me just say, that cheesesteak was a monster. Fresh, perfectly cooked, and swimming in melty cheese--it's easily the best cheesesteak I've had outside of Philly. The portion was so generous I could barely finish it, and for anyone arriving hungry, you definitely won't leave that way. The loaded fries looked fantastic too, but I had to box them up for later (that's how filling the sandwich was). The prices were moderate and fair for what you get, and while the place was busy, the energy felt lively rather than chaotic. All in all, Meatheadz is absolutely worth the trip if you're craving an authentic cheesesteak experience. Rating: 4.25 out of 5

A nice size and tasted fresh and hot. The only thing I didn't like was that the bread seemed to have been toasted with butter. I can do without the extra fat so it's something I have to remember to mention when I visit this establishment again. It doesn't take away from the rating, but worth mentioning and if you like to watch your fat intake. I prefer bacon so I rather cut back on the buttered toasted bread. The place was also clean so overall a good experience. I hope that others that are closer to me are as good as well.

Service is quick and efficient. Staff are helpful. Vibes were my favorite part of the experience--musical throw backs to songs from 2015 were the jam. Light rock, pop songs, all the good high school jams that took me back. We got Double BBQ Bacon Char, double cheeseburger, Sweet Potato Fries, fries, onion rings and fried string beans. Food was decidedly mediocre and nothing to ever return for. Burgers are low quality--super dry and tasteless meat. Zero flavor. You need a ton of trimmings to make it palatable. Regular double cheeseburger was a miss. Double bbq char burger was a tiny bit better thanks to the bacon and fried onions that gave the sad burger some texture and flavor. The bun added nothing, so I'd skip it and get the lettuce wrap instead. Regular Fries were soggy and bland. Skip. Sweet potato fries were the highlight of the meal in terms of quality--super light and not at all greasy. Pleasant surprise. I'd order them again. Fried string beans were meh. Too much batter.

If we were being honest, we would call this location Lawrence Township, but honesty is not always the first ingredient in branding. Location, location, location, even for burgers. Getting there by car is an adventure best left to those with a flexible relationship to risk. The turn off Route 1 feels like a wager against fate, and the alternate path through the outer rings of Mercer Mall suggests a quiet exile. Fortunately, the Shake Shack app exists, sparing one from both traffic patterns and insurance claims. This is how I most recently enjoyed my meal, delivered neatly to my workplace for a coworker's birthday lunch, which felt appropriately celebratory. I usually order the Shack Stack, a dependable monument to excess where a burger and a breaded portobello mushroom coexist in harmony. This time, I strayed. I chose the "limited time" K-Shack Fried Chicken Sandwich, which arrived with promises of a spicy sweet sesame gochujang glaze, scallions, and kimchi slaw. The blueprint was sound. In execution, the flavors spoke in a whisper when they should have sung. The kimchi and the sauce both seemed to hold something back, as if saving themselves for another sandwich. I'm sure some focus group told them they liked it spicy, but just corporate spicy. Many people treat Shake Shack as the summit of elevated fast food. I remain a respectful observer rather than a true believer. Still, the food is consistently good, reliably satisfying, and, if you can avoid the drive, all the better. Four stars, because reliability is a virtue, even when geography is a nightmare.
