Good go to when unsure of local places. Consistently consistent food, service, speed and value

Just got back from there a little while ago. Once again, my wife and I enjoyed the food: burgers,…read moreshakes and fries. I suddenly realized that I had never given a Yelp review for them, and I've been there multiple times, and liked it very much multiple times! As another reviewer noted, the location of the place is awful...I'm assuming they get a great deal on their rent. Other than that, I think Shake Shack is a much more positive experience than 5 Guys.

I'm surprised I have never reviewed Shake Shack Princeton, since I have eaten there enough times to…read moreprobably qualify as a very minor shareholder, at least in spirit. If we were being honest, we would call this location Lawrence Township, but honesty is not always the first ingredient in branding. Location, location, location, even for burgers. Getting there by car is an adventure best left to those with a flexible relationship to risk. The turn off Route 1 feels like a wager against fate, and the alternate path through the outer rings of Mercer Mall suggests a quiet exile. Fortunately, the Shake Shack app exists, sparing one from both traffic patterns and insurance claims. This is how I most recently enjoyed my meal, delivered neatly to my workplace for a coworker's birthday lunch, which felt appropriately celebratory. I usually order the Shack Stack, a dependable monument to excess where a burger and a breaded portobello mushroom coexist in harmony. This time, I strayed. I chose the "limited time" K-Shack Fried Chicken Sandwich, which arrived with promises of a spicy sweet sesame gochujang glaze, scallions, and kimchi slaw. The blueprint was sound. In execution, the flavors spoke in a whisper when they should have sung. The kimchi and the sauce both seemed to hold something back, as if saving themselves for another sandwich. I'm sure some focus group told them they liked it spicy, but just corporate spicy. Many people treat Shake Shack as the summit of elevated fast food. I remain a respectful observer rather than a true believer. Still, the food is consistently good, reliably satisfying, and, if you can avoid the drive, all the better. Four stars, because reliability is a virtue, even when geography is a nightmare.

First time I dine at a Habit Burger. I ordered the Club chicken sandwich that came with bacon and…read moreavocado. I have to say that I really enjoyed it. It was really good. A nice size and tasted fresh and hot. The only thing I didn't like was that the bread seemed to have been toasted with butter. I can do without the extra fat so it's something I have to remember to mention when I visit this establishment again. It doesn't take away from the rating, but worth mentioning and if you like to watch your fat intake. I prefer bacon so I rather cut back on the buttered toasted bread. The place was also clean so overall a good experience. I hope that others that are closer to me are as good as well.

Service is quick and efficient. Staff are helpful. Vibes were my favorite part of the experience--musical throw backs to songs from 2015 were the jam. Light rock, pop songs, all the good high school jams that took me back. We got Double BBQ Bacon Char, double cheeseburger, Sweet Potato Fries, fries, onion rings and fried string beans. Food was decidedly mediocre and nothing to ever return for. Burgers are low quality--super dry and tasteless meat. Zero flavor. You need a ton of trimmings to make it palatable. Regular double cheeseburger was a miss. Double bbq char burger was a tiny bit better thanks to the bacon and fried onions that gave the sad burger some texture and flavor. The bun added nothing, so I'd skip it and get the lettuce wrap instead. Regular Fries were soggy and bland. Skip. Sweet potato fries were the highlight of the meal in terms of quality--super light and not at all greasy. Pleasant surprise. I'd order them again. Fried string beans were meh. Too much batter.

Updated review: I had to write this, because I am so…read moredeliriously blown away by the incredible service. I just got from Jersey Mike's to correct a problem that wasn't actually theirs. Our front door faces the street that intersects with our address. We are on a corner so the garage is on one side and the front door is on the other. My directions are extremely clear and no NO NO driver ever reads them. (I've watched Delivery people wander up and down the pathways in the complex here in bitter cold weather rather than directions it might offer clue to where they're going.) The driver here certainly didn't ....he left my bag in somebody else's driveway at night and of course, those people thought it was some kind of garbage and threw it in the trash I took a flyer and called Jersey Mike's and got this amazing superhero on the phone named John who seemed more upset than me and extremely willing to refund my entire meal, which was more than I had hoped for and so now on top of loving their sandwiches, I also love Jersey Mike's at this location and most of all, I love John Thank you, John !

I stopped by my local Jersey Mike's this week -- which is something I do regularly. I ordered a viral sandwich that turned out a little messy, but that wasn't the issue. The same person who made my sandwich also rang me up -- without changing his gloves. He touched the register screen, bags, counters, and who knows what else, all with the same gloves he used to make my food. Then he went right back to preparing sandwiches... still no glove change. So I calmly walked over to the manager, who had already seemed pretty dismissive when I walked in. I could tell that he wasn't interested in any niceties with me, since he was saving them for the non-minority make that walked in after me. I said, "You may want to let him know that he needs to change his gloves." The manager asked, "Why?" I explained, "Because he made my sandwich, checked me out, touched the screen, and then went back to making sandwiches." His response? "Did he touch cash?" I replied, "Why does that matter? He's spreading germs." But it was clear he didn't care -- not one bit. That will be my last visit to that location. Period.
