Just a casual Wednesday night and wanted some sushi. Stumble across this restaurant. CAN I SAY UNASSUMING! Eat's Sushi to be honest, sounds like a casual to-go spot. The moment you walk inside it is vibes and ambient. Lighting is great, design is on theme and just good energy. I really enjoy a sushi spot where you have the option to have half rolls or smaller rolls. The reason being you get to try more variety. We ordered -Pink lady. -Albacore delight -popcorn roll - Salmon Blue Crab - Crispy rice with Spicy tuna. All great bites. The best role of the night was the salmon blue crab. Tangy Ponzu, rich truffle oil, creamy crab, avocado, and combined with the thin slice of tuna. Yummmmm. Easily one of my favorite bites of sushi.
Really satisfied with the quality of fish and service here. I believe this restaurant has been opened for about 3 years. You can join a waitlist. We tried this spot on Wednesday around 5 and got seated quickly. By 6:30 the entire spot was packed. There's both sushi bar and booth seating indoors. Love their serving size of 4 pieces per roll. For sushi pieces you can order 1 piece instead of 2. The bluefin and uni were my favorite. The Karage was just okay. I definitely recommend all the fishes. There's options of no rice rolls to choose from as well. The server was great at providing recommendation for first timers. All food came out fast, including the cooked rolls.
The restaurant was so nice inside and the service was really friendly. We've already tried their sister store, Takumi Sushi, so we knew this place was going to be just as amazing. My favorites were the crispy rice with spicy tuna and the spicy garlic edamame so yummy and definitely a must try!
Really good sushi! Came here during lunch time on a weekend and was seated immediately. I love how they have physical menus with pictures to look at. We write the items we want on the piece of paper that they provide. We ordered various items such as seaweed salad, takoyaki, sashimi, rolls, etc. They gave us real wasabi for our sashimi which was nice. The sashimi was a thick cut and super delicious. Interior is nice, love the decors. Staffs are friendly. Prices here are a bit pricey in my opinion but quality is good.
If you're looking for sushi that hits both quality and affordability, Eats Sushi is a must-try. Everything we ordered was incredibly fresh and packed with flavor--you can really tell they use high-quality fish. What I loved most is how extensive their menu is. We ordered a variety of items and there were still so many more options I wanted to try. From rolls to nigiri and hot dishes, they truly have something for everyone. Some of our favorites included the crispy tuna, ex-girlfriend roll, spider roll, caterpillar roll, baked scallop roll, and nigiri. The chicken karaage and udon were also so good and perfectly cooked. The balance between affordability and quality here is honestly hard to find. Portions are generous, presentation is on point, and everything tasted fresh to order. Definitely a spot I'll keep coming back to and recommending to friends.
I've been wanting to try this spot and it did not disappoint. The sushi quality is excellent, the service is great, and the prices are reasonable. One thing I really appreciated was how quickly the food came out. The rolls are also served in smaller portions (4 pieces), so we can try more from the menu without getting too full. The standout for me was the salmon collar, which I always order at sushi restaurants. The pieces were huge and perfectly cooked. Overall, a great experience and I'd definitely come back. This sushi spot is one of my favorites for rolls and few other Japanese dishes. The wait can be really long, as in, waitlist can be 0 wait one minute and the next minute you check, it has 30 people already on the waitlist! Also, you need to be within 5 mi-radius to get on the waitlist. However, once you made past all that challenges, and are seated, the goodness will come. I like the service here, fast, efficient, and no nonsense. I like how their rolls are shorter/smaller, and cheaper, so you won't get too full if you order too many rolls, though we always ended up ordering too much anyway. I also like their tempura, udon, salmon and yellow tail kama (cheek), and takoyaki. I love all their no-rice rolls, hand rolls, and anything with salmon. They are super popular for the good flavor, good rolls, and extensive menu. Their take-out/to-go bags are pretty trendy too. Highly recs!
I don't remember the last time I've had such attentive, kind, and accommodating service during my dining experience! How refreshing! And an experience it WAS. The wait staff are ON it! Bravo! The fish here melts in your mouth, it's so fresh. If you are a sushi lover, you would be doing yourself a disservice not to try this spot. Absolutely delicious! Tucked away in a shopping plaza, you'd never suspect it to be as outstanding of a sushi restaurant as it is, but dare I say, the food is hands down WAY better than Nobu, Sugarfish, etc etc. I will certainly be back! Service 11/10 no notes! Spectacular hiring done here. Food 10/10 (I had the fire island roll w/o onions, miso soup, salmon sushi, madai sushi, and yellowtail sushi) *ask for their fresh wasabi and let it take you to another dimension at first bite! Ambiance 10/10 (great casual date night spot, although I came solo with a sushi craving) Parking 9/10 I can see it getting busy or tough to find a spot during dinner time and on weekends.. just get there earlier to find a spot! I hope they continue to do everything they're doing here - impressive. I am floored and will definitely spread the word!
Really nice service, they don't take reservations so getting on online waitlist is highly recommended. Very fun ambiance inside albeit the music is very loud so don't plan on having deep conversations. The food was really really good. The rolls and appetizers were just ok but nigiri (every fish we tried!) was definitely the highlight- super fresh, flavorful, not over the top. I'd def go back.
How have I not heard of this place before!? I usually steer clear of non-AYCE sushi places, but this will most definitely be added to my top restaurants. As with most non-AYCE sushi, it was a bit pricey, but definitely worth it. My absolute favorite dish we ordered was the monkfish liver, which exploded with flavor! I loved it so much that I ordered another. The ex-girlfriend roll is another favorite, and we got two of those as well. The fish was so fresh and the service was great! Literally no notes, just come!
Tried a sushi spot in Costa Mesa and ordered: * Miso Soup * Shishito Pepper * Baked Green Mussel (2pc) * New Style Yellowtail Sashimi * Salmon Sushi * Madai (Japanese Snapper) Sushi * Seared Jumbo Scallop Sushi * Cucumber Wrap * Baja California Roll Rating scale: 1 = would not order again, 5 = would totally order again Miso Soup - 5/5 Loved the flavor. Not too salty, super comforting, exactly what you want to start the meal. Shishito Pepper - 4/5 Flavor was great at first, but the more you ate it, the saltiness built up. First few bites? Amazing. By the end? A little overwhelming. Baked Green Mussel (2pc) - 3/5 What you'd expect. I'll always love a baked mussel, but nothing super standout. New Style Yellowtail Sashimi - 4/5 Fresh and enjoyable. Solid order. Salmon Sushi - 4/5 Classic. Exactly what you expect from good salmon sushi. Madai (Japanese Snapper) Sushi - 4/5 Really good -- clean, fresh flavor. Seared Jumbo Scallop Sushi - 3/5 Decent, but not something I'd run back for. Cucumber Wrap - 3/5 Didn't love it as much as I thought I would. The ponzu felt like it was missing something -- it was okay. Baja California Roll - 4/5 Better than the cucumber wrap. Definitely on the creamier side because of the spicy tuna and avocado filling. Overall, this place feels like AYCE vibes but you're just paying for what you eat. Pricing is standard. Everything tasted fresh and enjoyable. Service was super quick and friendly my food was literally dropped off by the time I came back from the restroom. I would definitely come back. Sushi is probably better with a group though you don't have to commit to everything yourself like I did I left feeling satisfied and content not overly stuffed, but perfectly full. Honestly, that's the best kind of sushi night.

Eat's Sushi will forever be a fav local sushi spot for me! I've dined in multiple times but ordered takeout via a delivery app this time. The order came packed neatly in a reusable bag, complete with chopsticks, soy sauce, wasabi, ginger, napkins, and soy sauce trays. Love that I could basically recreate the full dining experience at home since they gave me everything I needed for a good meal! I ordered the Spicy Tuna Roll, Tuna Cut Roll, Spicy Scallop Roll, Spicy Crunch Roll, and Shrimp Tempura. All the fish was so fresh (as usual) and reasonably priced. The Tuna Cut Roll had some really tender fatty cuts of fish which was a welcome surprise! Generous amount of fish in each roll. So glad I chose to order Eat's for lunch today! read more
EAT'S has been on my radar for a while, so I'm glad I could finally try it. Located in a shopping center, there was ample free parking. I was a little nervous when they closed down their remote Yelp Waitlist for the evening (they don't take reservations), but a quick call confirmed their not-so-long wait time. When you walk inside, there is a tablet for the Waitlist. I went on a Friday evening on a holiday weekend, and the wait was around 30 minutes. The inside is well decorated. The menu has pictures, and you order from a paper you notate. Throughout the experience, the customer service was excellent. Our server was very attentive, and food came out very fast. The Yellow Tail Sashimi was a highlight for my sister and I. The sauce was delicious and the fish was fresh. They had a large variety of options for rolls. We tried 3-4. They were unique and tasty. I would say they were not as tightly/cleanly rolled as other places. We ordered SO many things, and the price came out to be very reasonable. read more
Arrived Friday around 530pm and the wait wasn't too bad. We ordered a bunch of items and the standout was the salmon skin salad and teriyaki beef. The salmon skin was crisp and salad was loaded with lots of onions and a bright tangy dressing. I was surprised at how good the beef was. It was smoky tasting and the bed of onions added another level of sweetness. read more
What's not to love about Eat's!? The sushi is out of this world, and all for a price that is not out of this world. For a person who loves to try a variety of items, this is the place to go! All of their rolls are 4-5 pieces, allowing you to try almost everything on the menu (if you come back as often as me) Service is always amazing and kind. This place probably has the best sushi I've had so far. The quality of the sushi was fresh and tasty. The sashimi was so delicious. That's probably my favorite item. They have different options for that different cuts. I think I got the most expensive one And I was not disappointed. It is a little pricey but it's worth it. If the price is too high, they do have another location where it is a bit cheaper, but this place is much better. We only have one sushi roll. We wanted to try it everything that was on the menu. The service was great very friendly very helpful. They have an awesome team there. They give you a sheet where you could put in your first order and then finally your second order. And they bring your sushi pretty quickly. I really enjoyed the set up the mirrors, the paintings on the walls. They were pretty cool. I kind of felt like I was in Japan eating sushi. It does sound corny, but I did feel like that. Definitely wanna come back again. read more

My friend raves about Eat's and she said it gets really busy. So on a Friday evening, before 6pm, we came for dinner. We were seated quickly and the place was getting filled up quickly. Service was friendly, except the male manager who was kinda cold and did not have a smile when greeting customers. The rest of the waiting staff were all very friendly and efficient. The menu is expansive and has tons of options. I really like how food comes in smaller portions here. For example, each roll has 4 pieces (vs 6-8 pieces) and nigiri is single piece. That means you can order a variety of food without feeling stuffed by one or two things. Yellowtail Collar- 3/5 slightly overcooked and bland Salmon Blue Crab roll - 3/5 not much of a flavor, though they didn't skimp on the crab Monkfish Liver - 4/5 really good but thinner slices would have been better IMO We also got Baja Cali Roll, Fire Island Roll, Tiger Roll,Hot Night Roll, Spicy Crunch Roll and Bake Scallop Roll. All the rolls were good. For nigiri we got blue fin tuna, salmon, yellowtail, smelt, sweet shrimp, toro, bay scallop and seared jumbo scallop. All the nigiris were really fresh, the rice can use a bit more vinegar. Our total was about $153 with all those food, and we got free drinks with Yelp check-in. It was an excellent deal in today's economy. A solid 4.5 star experience. read more

THE BEST! I always come here when I am done with a shift and need a quick bite to eat. Affordable and fast with service, always polite and kind. The inside has dark lighting, which is sort of nice to get the full experience. Favorites are the salmon and tuna sushi. read more
My sister and I came in on a Tuesday night and had to wait just 15 min! So many of our friends recommend this place - and we have to say.. the hype is real The salmon/crab appetizer was definitely our favorite with its delicious truffle sauce. We're a big fan of non-rice rolls so we loved the mountain hand roll and cucumber wrap. Zen roll & baked scallop roll wete also super delicious. I also have to say that service was 10/10!! Our food was served so fast, our waiters were quick to refill waters and check up on us. The interior is decorated so cute with lanterns and the music/vibes were great. Will def be our go-to sushi spot from now on! read more
We first tried this place for dinner and left with a very good impression, so we came back on the weekend to try their lunch. Even though the restaurant was quite busy, we were seated right away. The food was excellent--exactly what I was hoping for. The sashimi was fresh and flavorful, and the sushi had a perfect balance of rice and fish. The highlight for me was the Seared Jumbo Scallop Sushi, which stood out with its rich, smoky flavor. The only downside was the edamame. We didn't get it until we were nearly done with our meal, and only after asking the waiter--who said they were still making it. It's a bit puzzling why something so simple took so long. That said, the overall experience was still very good, and we enjoyed a satisfying lunch. read more

Came for a casual dinner for 2 and let me say - expect a wait. The inside is also bit small but that can only mean you'll be well taken care of. I expect a bit more difficulty getting in if you're a larger group. Overall the sushi was great! The fish was high quality and everything was reasonably priced. We ended up ordering way more than the average 2 person dinner but were able to finish it all, and happily at that. I'd recommend this spot for anyone looking to fulfill that sushi craving without having to sacrifice an arm or leg! read more

For our first visit this was AMAZING!!! Quality of ingredients were fresh. So hard to pick a favorite, we demolished all of it. Got here right before they opened for lunch to avoid a long wait. Was seated quickly and the food came out in a good pace. Nice decor inside. I only wish the parking lot was nicer. read more

Food service and ambiance are always a 10/10. Love eating here at any time of day. Their sushi is consistently delicious and fresh and that's all you can really ask for. I love their no rice rolls and this last time we tried their salad with sashimi and liked it a lot! There was a lot of liquid at the bottom which was not pleasant but nothing was slowing us down. We always get a Philadelphia roll because we can't resist. But also recommend the caliente, mountain hand roll, and the fire island. Love their miso soup too. And their spicy garlic edamame is the BEST!! It adds up quickly but treat yourself! Raw fish isn't something you want to pinch your dollar on anyways read more

Ever since coming here, I think about it often. One of the best sushi experiences I've had in awhile that's not omakase. I came on a Sunday night and it was fairly busy. The space is pretty small so there's a wait. Luckily, we didn't wait too long for a table. Our waitress was also nice. She checked on us to see if we needed more food and such. The sushi here is high quality and the price is unbeatable, in my opinion. I love how they do half rolls so you can try many options. Four pieces for around $7 is really good to me. Their variety is also unmatched. They even offer no rice rolls that are also really good. Plus, their variety of fish... chefs kiss! read more

Eats Sushi IS AMAZING The food, the prices, the atmosphere, the staff, the cooks, even the bathrooms are great. I got their food to-go once before and it was very yummy. My partner is a big gyoza aficionado and he has tried many a gyozas and these are his favorite and we live far from here. I like how they offer half rolls for about $7-8 because I like to try lots of different flavors. We went here recently for a valentines dinner and spent about $55 for all the food pictured. Really affordable and great quality - we couldn't even finish everything and had to take it to go! They were very packed this day so I suggest going on the wait list. So freaking yum read more

Nice little restaurant at the corner of a plaza. Service always attentive and friendly. Always love going here when I want some sushi. Not really much to eat. Quality is always solid and consistent. Good fish to rice ratio. Really recommend nigiri, mussels and I LOVE the mountain roll. I will say, my favorite fish are yellowtail and salmon, in which this place does really well. The other fishes and roll are solid and taste as they should. read more

I was in the mood for sushi and was in the area so ended up here. The sushi was overall pretty good, I really liked their popcorn roll and black spider roll. The sauce that they marinated with elevated its taste imo. I would say this place is comparable to other sushi restaurants in the area for the prices that they charge and the food quality that they offer. We also went on a Saturday during lunch time and didn't have to wait at all which was really nice. Service was pretty decent as well so no complaints. The ambiance was fitting for a sushi restaurant but not mind blowing. Verdict: I may or may not come back, but definitely enjoyed the sushi we ate. read more

Was in town for work and came in on Tuesday with a coworker. We were sat immediately, no wait. Very chic and clean restaurant with great lighting. We ordered several rolls and all were delicious! Crunch roll, tiger roll, spicy tuna roll...yum! Prices were very reasonable as well. Will be back again! read more
Small space but incredibly fast and fresh menu options! We were lucky to swing by while in the area during the Super Bowl therefore no wait, as we know on any other day there is at least a 10-15 minute wait with a line out the door. Note: it is a la carte and not AYCE but they have quite a few appetizers and dishes for non-raw and raw fish lovers alike. I like how they don't try to sneak any extra charges and it's pretty clear on the menu and requesting for items how much they would be. Tip: join their waitlist in Yelp What I tried Appetizers -cucumber salad: refreshing and honestly, good portion with a creamy side sauce -takoyaki: this small dish never ceases to amaze me at Japanese restaurants. They always cook it perfectly with dried bonito flakes adding an extra fishy taste and texture -baked green mussel: plenty of mayo and eel sauce drowning on top of the mussel. The mussel is actually very soft. -salmon collar: heavenly and melts in your mouth. Salmon is well seasoned and charred. Ponzu sauce was also incredible with a hint of spice. Rolls -energy roll: explicit like its name, this was on the heavier side, a lot happening both inside and outside of the sushi piece. You can def see the layers in the sushi and feel it in your mouth when you take a bite -black spider roll: def a fav roll. I'm a total fan of water eel which paired well with the spicy mayo. I really enjoyed this. -freshwater eel roll: smaller pieces than expected but very cutely organized and cut I didn't use too much of the soy sauce and ginger when eating the rolls because I felt the rolls were already jam-packed with flavor Sushi -madai: beautiful presentation and wonderful, citrus bite -sea urchin: truly delicate,y me,the in your mouth. First time and I didn't end up dipping this in the soy sauce, so it tasted like the aquarium. -fatty tuna: there was a lot of the connective tissue which made a bit too chewy in my opinion read more

Where do I even start? I love Eats Sushi! The best spot when you are craving sushi but don't want to spend a fortune. I love that they do smaller portions for rolls (4 vs the usual 8) so you can try more things. They are typically busy but service is fast and friendly! Honestly the interior is really nice and inviting as well. Everything was fresh and tasted delicious!!! Highly recommend this spot read more
We had dinner here last week. There is plenty of parking available. The restaurant itself feels warm and inviting. We ordered chicken karaage, beef bulgolgi and a black spider roll for appetizers. The karaage was easily the best ever. Crispy outside with moist chicken on the inside. The portion was a really good size. The bulgolgi was also a good size portion. The beef was soft and flavorful. We really should have gotten a bowl of rice to go along with both dishes. The black spider roll was delicious and was filled with soft shell crab, spicy albacore and eel. I also got a bottle of Sapporo and liked that it came with a chilled glass. I know most places do that but there are still places that do not. We ordered a chicken teriyaki bento box. The chicken was tender and so flavorful with a delicious teriyaki glaze. The rice and salad pair perfectly. We also ordered a tonkotsu ramen. They only make a limited amount each night. The ramen noodles were nice and bouncy. The dashi was rich and creamy. Quite possibly my favorite ramen broth ever. We also got a sashimi plate. While everything was amazing, this was the star of the meal. Large, thick cut slices of sashimi that melted in the mouth and served with real wasabi. My third time coming here and it never disappoints. The ambiance is so cute and perfect for a fun date night or dinner with friends. The food is always fresh, beautifully presented, and seriously amazing every time. The wait is usually about 1 to 1.5 hours but it is totally worth it. Being able to join the waitlist online makes it so much easier since you do not have to stand outside the whole time. I will definitely keep coming back!! read more
This place is an amazing sushi restaurant to eat at. It gives a variety of options for nigiri, sashimi, and rolls. Most of the rolls come in 4 pieces, which gives you the option to try a little bit if everything. The sushi itself melts in your mouth with every bite. I was really impressed with how fresh the fish and sushi tasted. My favorite was the New Style Salmon Sashimi. The truffle sauce tastes amazing. Great spot for a casual sushi meal. The fish and quality were fresh and delicious. I liked that the sushi rolls were decent priced and only 4 pieces. Came again on a weekend night for dinner. Wait time was about an hour and thirty so we killed time by getting dessert first. Service was prompt and food is delicious as always. We got sweet shrimp, salmon, and pepper bluefin tuna nigiri as well as a zen and salmon roll. First off this place is so cool! The interior transports me to Japan as soon as I walk in the door! The staff is amazing! They are there should you have any questions and check back with you. So polite! The menu is perfect for me. Not too big to be overwhelmed yet large enough you know you will find something you like. You can even bring your non sushi friends as they offer ramen, tempura and bento boxes! The food so good and also affordable which is sometimes hard to find at sushi restaurants. I had this place bookmarked for a while and was really excited to finally try it for sushi Friday night. I'd been eating healthy all week and was ready for a cheat meal. Checked the Yelp waitlist...an hour wait! I figured it had to be good if there's a wait, right? Wrong. We ordered and were so ready for the food... but with every plate that came out, we got more and more disappointed. The sushi didn't taste fresh, the seaweed on my hand rolls were soggy, the flavors were just okay, and nothing really stood out. By the time the last roll came, I wasn't even hungry anymore...and not in a good way. Honestly, I was expecting way more for the wait and hype. Big letdown. 2 stars for great service, easy parking, and that I got some grocery shopping done since Stater Bros was in the same parking lot. But for real, are they paying for these 5 star reviews? :( read more

I came here to celebrate my friend's birthday at a popular sushi place in Costa Mesa. Ordered: Jalapeno Bombs California Roll Crunch Roll My friend ordered her favorite sushi. Ambiance is beautiful, cozy and nice. Staff were friendly. The service was fantastic. Recommendation - come early as the line can be really long. We both enjoyed our lunch! read more
ORDER i've tried around 10 different items and LOVEDD every single one. i honestly cant rave about this restaurant enough. everything is top tier, from the rolls to the sauces down to the pickled ginger. the quality is amazing!! nothing is ever fishy. they prioritize customer satisfaction so everything is always perfect. there's usually a wait, but it always goes by fast. id recommend joining the yelp waitlist or check out takumi sushi down the street (basically the same restaurant, same menu and all) ;)) SERVICE 10/10 service AMBIANCE fairly small, but spacious. benches outside to wait + they have heaters which is honestly so considerate. tons of parking. read more
