California Vegetable Medley and Ribeye Philly Cheesesteak with peppers, onions, provolone, lettuce, tomato, and basil
Joe M.

Feelin' those what is FUN to do on Halloween Blues? You and your Husband, Boyfriend, Significant Other, or Partner will probably split up this evening dividing your attention and time so that one of you is with your children, Trick or Treating while the other one hands out candy to your neighborhood Trick-or-Treaters. Or maybe your Grandchildren are not going to be here this year, unlike your Covid years when they could login from anywhere to attend school, like your house, remember? If you look hard and desperately enough, you can almost find a small silver lining, even in a Pandemic. Well almost, and yes, I can be a little selfish. So what is there FUN for you TWO, to do? Well, you could meet for lunch but where would you go to get into your Halloween mood for mischief and fun like when you were young? Eats & Sweets in downtown Ridgeland, SC goes all out for Halloween which was such a surprise, a hoot, and has great food to boot! As you enter their FULL SELECTION MENU Restaurant, yeah, their name threw us off to. You are greeted by an 8 foot, animatronic, talking Ghoul with fire blazing filled eyes while his arms and legs are moving up and down as if he is moving toward you. Well, your eyes would be on fire too if you had a pole stuck up your Keister! There is a 12 foot Mummy along with an animatronic Rottweiler that charges out from his guard dog house while barking at you loudly. There are some some bails of hay with nestled pumpkins strune about, and all of this is guarding their entrance. You just get that feeling that you're in for a really different restaurant experience, know what I mean? This very quaint and oh, so cute Halloween decorated theme restaurant was just as remarkable in its interior because of its breath, detail, and scope. This fantastic spectacle really lifted our spirits as it literally came to life in front of our eyes. (Pictures) Their Fried Flounder Platter was crisp (panko), moist, perfectly cooked, and was absolutely delicious along with onion rings that were lightly battered and will fill your tum-tum, with yum, yum, which my pristine beauty who accompanied me, enjoyed thoroughly. I slowly, and throughly enjoyed each morsel of my tastebud titillating, mouthwateringly savory, and fully belly satisfying Ribeye Philly Cheesesteak accompanied by provolone cheese, peppers, onions, on a freshly baked roll to which they added lettuce tomato, and even fresh basil (outstanding), upon my request. My only minor wish was that they had added less salt added to their California Vegetable Medley which tasted good. And all of this for a more than reasonable price that will surprise you, as it did us, making Eats & Sweets a tremendous dining value. Now you would think our fun filled, very surprising Halloween journey would be at an end, right? Wrong-go, my freaky friends as our server, a pristine red-haired beauty in full Halloween costume by name of Victoria, who was personable, and patient as we asked her questions about their considerable menu. Victoria was very polite, fun, had clutch timing when delivering our hot food very quickly, and who can flash you a soothing wry smile all the while. We were again, suddenly delighted when Victoria appeared with one more surprise. Two very large, homemade, freshly baked today, chocolate chip cookies in a bag labeled Donuts which was just the right size bag to a accommodate our cookie which was our FREE treat for joining this exceptionally decorated theme restaurant on Halloween! WOW, while it is always the little things that make the difference to diners in their feeling truly appreciated for their patronage, when there is this level of detailed fantasy, frolicking spirit, and pure delight in everyone and everything you see around you; you really feel SPECIAL! POW, right in the Kisser is the feeling of joy, and happiness we both felt after our euphoric, and surreal dining experience at Eats and Sweets today! And one which we talked about, all the way home. So where did you have lunch today? Why do I ask? Because Eats and Sweets serves dinner! So gather up your costume children, your relatives, and/or friends and find your Thrill, not on Blueberry Hill, sorry B. B. but by being enthralled by this thoroughly enjoyable Halloween fantasy fun which will make your All Hollows Eve complete at Eats and Sweets! PS. We were told, "they really go crazy at Christmas!" We can't wait to live exactly whatever that means as I have been a very good boy this year, Lol Enjoy

Grilled Chicken Salad

My husband and I stopped before getting too close to Savannah, GA. Convenient from the interstate. Really clean and cute restaurant. He got the shrimp po boy with sweet potato fries. I got the grilled chicken salad (Cajun chicken). Both were exceptional! The salad could have easily fed 3 adults, it was huge!!! Finished it off with a blueberry lemon cookie (not pictured), which was insanely yummy. Will definitely be a spot we return if ever passing through!

This was such a cute and nice place. The salad was huge and all the veggies were fresh - no brown lettuce!!! Also the special was shrimp gumbo special was a nice surprise. All kinds of Christmas treats for us to take on the road to share with our party. A great find in Ridgeland. Service was fast and nice.

We came here to celebrate Mother's Day with my boyfriend's parents. It was SLAMMED! I don't think it's always that busy, but our waitress said they were understaffed. They also had an all you can eat crab leg special going on, and I feel like everyone but our party ordered that, which I'm assuming also added to the business of the day. Either way, the food was great! It's a cute little bakery, restaurant, and local favorite- it definitely sticks out from other places in the area, probably another reason why it was packed. Our waitress was so sweet and patient during the peak hours , and I know that I'd be so unpleasant if I had to work during that day- so kudos to the staff for being amazing! The portions here are huge! I was stuffed after my side salad- which I feel was like a whole salad! Realllllly well priced and great options. No alcohol is served, but they have cherry coke!

Decided to try this local restaurant after many people recommended it. Wow! We are so glad we did! The service was quick, the staff friendly, and the food delicious and plentiful. They had great looking specials on the menu as well, but get there early in order to get them! My husband ordered the A1 burger and it was gigantic and he has talked about it for days. The amount of fries that came with the burger had all the tables around us gawking! My Swiss chicken was huge and could be finished as well! Would highly recommend this local restaurant!!

Three clusters of crablegs

It was a busy night, all tables were full, but they were clearing and seating new guests ad quickly as possible. Staff was pleasant, foot was very good. Our table had the crablegs, the ribeye, and the chicken sandwich. The loaded potato was enough to be an entire meal, cooked perfectly and loaded to the top. Dessert was the Pineapple Spilt, half a Pineapple filled with vanilla icecream, topped with strawberry, carmel, fudge and topped with whipped cream. Prices were very reasonable. We will definitely eat here again.

Soooo good!! Come hungry because portions are generous. Service is excellent and friendly. My husband and I were traveling south when we stumbled upon this place. So glad we did! I hope we can stop here again someday.

Cute clean quaint resturaunt. Specialty is the Habachi with chicken and shrimp and local guys next to us said it was awesome! Wish we would have ordered it. Had the shrimp Poboy and chicken salad in croissant shrimp was a 5 but chicken salad was a little to creamy for Me. They did put grapes and walnuts on it which made the flavor. Very clean and friendly local restaurant. Baked goods are Plenty and look delicious, they serve ice cream also! Worth the quick pull off the road.

I was not entirely sure what a "waffle pop" would turn out to be, but I ended up with two of them in an order, freshly made and topped with one fruit and one sauce of choice. Getting bananas with blueberry sauce was a good choice, one of many I expect. My strawberry matcha with boba was compromised by them running out of strawberry boba, but the regular tapioca balls did just fine soaked in a robustly flavored beverage. Their donut selection was appealing, but I simply did not have room. It would be tough to get out of there without getting a ton of sugar, and this place did not seem to have a ton for the more niche special dietary needs. However, it did have a lot of interesting messaging as a community space, with resources directed towards military families in particular, which moves me to look favorably on the place. And their stuff is delicious.

My web search for coffee found this place just a couple hundred feet from my hotel, opening in just…read more5 minutes (7:00). So I walked over. It was not at all what I expected in a strip mall near a chain hotel. What a cheerful place, the walls yellow, the windows decorated with big bright suns, the menu boards artfully illustrated, kitchy motivational signs everywhere. I was greeted with a geniality matching the overall vibe by a woman whom it was apparent was the owner. I complimented her on the name "Sunny Summers". She told me it was named after her two daughters. There was a young girl working with her so I asked her if she was Sunny or Summer. She didn't say anything. As it turned out she was neither - just an unrelated employee. I had only come in for a cup of coffee but I saw the donuts and couldn't resist. Many of them were outrageous sugar bombs - and beautiful to look at. But I settled on a more sedate cinnamon-sugar. Glad I did. It was fried to order then dusted with the topping and served not in a bag but in a cute box sized just right for the single. So when I ate it in the car 5 minutes later it was still warm, and fresh as can be. Does she always do this or was it because I arrived just after opening? Unsure, but it was a spectacularly good donut. The coffee, too, was excellent. Strong, no bitterness or sourness, and from a local independent roaster. The other foods mostly fit in the category of sweet indulgences: donuts with crazy toppings, "waffle pops", french toast. A few lunch items like panini. The burger offering was made with pancakes rather than the traditional bun! Now a few words about the proprietor. I was astonished by her outfit that left little to the imagination. At 7 in the morning! It was hard to keep my eyes where they belonged but I managed! (Sorry, I have no photos, for obvious reasons.) I realized later, when I did more research on the place, that this was part of her shtick, playing off her reputation as retired professional wrestler Lacey Evans. Before that she was in the Marine Corps serving in the military police force. An interesting choice of careers for sure. There's a board with prepaid receipts that the less-fortunate can use to get food. That's great. I wish I had known about it when I was there, not later during my research. I would definitely have prepaid a meal. Also, discounts for military and first responders. Not necessarily how I would do things but I know her intentions were good. The world needs more places like this. So a plea to anyone reading this: You may not be able to give up your Dunkin and Starbucks completely, as I have. But just try it for a month, or even a week: next time you need a fix check Google or Yelp for independent coffee shops, try something different, even if you have to go a little out of your way. You may just discover a new favorite hangout.

We found parking right on Paris Ave (perfect spot to start our journey) but as we got out of the truck, we noticed Harbour Village with a true throwback vibe (as soon as I noticed the huge vintage gas station sign)... and there at the side of the road was Corner Perk. The place is so enticing on the outside (white and red building with open deck with plenty of seating)... we decided to check it out and the inside was just as pleasant. Lots of wood trim and colorful accents and the girls that welcomed us in were "perky" (no pun intended). My wife got a LAVENDER HONEY LATTE and I got a CHURRO LATTE. We noticed they had lots of breakfast options (omelettes, quiche, skillets, breakfast burritos, baked goodies and more). We didn't get any but we were tempted. We sat outside and enjoyed out coffees; my wife loved her latte and my Churro was sweet and delicious... and off we went for our hike thru the Cypress Wetlands. Afterward, I reminded my wife how good some of the bakery stuff looked so we ventured back in for round two... This time I had an Iced Cold Brew (can't recall if any special flavor) and we also got a couple items to snack on.... we shared a over the top, super rick BROWNIE and we also got a slice of BANANA BREAD (both were excellent).

I arrived at Biggby just before 6am and settled in for a solid two hours, staying warm, enjoying my coffee, and catching up on writing Yelp reviews. They did a great job keeping the coffee flowing as customers cycled through. The drive‑through never seemed to pause for more than a moment, and every so often a few people wandered inside to warm up and grab their drinks. All in all, it was a very pleasant morning, the sort of stop that makes an early start worthwhile. I will happily return to Biggby for their consistently great coffee.
