Went here for lunch. The place is small, but has an outdoor patio available. The food was good, however I felt my shrimp tacos could have had less cabbage and at least one more shrimp per taco. I got two big mouthfuls of cabbage on one of my tacos and a mouthful on the other. My husband got the breakfast cubano sandwich. He said it was pretty good. Ou service was good. Came here for my birthday brunch in May, and forgot to review.. first of all this place is right off the triangle square, so Newport blvd just before getting on the 55. I love this spot. Parking can be challenging as it's all street and like a couple in the back. I would expect a small wait.. nothing crazy. I really liked the short rib breakfast tostadas and I would recommend them. My mouth is salivating just thinking about it. They have a large oven patio with outdoor seating. Good for groups. They have fresh ingredients in their alcoholic drinks. Visited this location today after taking the dogs on a Sunday morning walk in Balboa. This spot has a really cute outdoor patio that is dog friendly with comfortable seating, and the inside has a clean, modern black & white aesthetic. Ambiance/Aesthetics ~ 9/10 We ordered a dirty Chai Latte to try and it did not disappoint. It was sweet and spicy and you could definitely taste the shot of espresso. For brunch we got the burger and a stack of pancakes to share. The burger was amazing, probably one of our favorites we've had. The salty bacon along with the combo of the grilled onions and the cheese was just a heavenly juxtaposition of flavors that worked harmoniously together. The burger comes with either a salad or you can upgrade to fries or onion rings which we opted to do. We got the fries and while shoestring fries aren't usually my favorite, these were probably some of my favorite shoestring fries I've had. The buttermilk pancakes were great, the perfect combo of crispy outside and fluffy middle. Overall, we loved the food and will definitely be coming back soon. The inside has plenty of seating for a Friday at 6:30 pm and there's a decent selection of kids menu items. The kids menu doesn't include a kid drink I don't recall. It's a little pricey for kids food (buttered noodles were $9 I think and a kids cheese quesadilla was $10-11) but for the convenience it was worth it. The quesadilla was packed with cheese. The buttered noodles were those tubey corkscrew ones (cavatappi, I think). But let's feature the real solid part of the menu where Eat Chow shines; the strong cocktails!!! I waited until my fam arrived with a red sangria and about 1/2 way through I could already feel it. Tasty but no fruit ontop, that's fine. I figured I needed to curb myself at one drink but I'd been craving an espresso martini these days since the suppression of my taste buds post covid. The espresso martini was to die for. My partner and I saw this place as we were driving by and decided to give it a try for breakfast! It's super cute and pretty small. There are both inside and outside seating available. The new location of eat chow just opened! This location is a bit bigger and has plenty of free parking. In OC, free parking isn't always the easiest to find. I ordered the pesto toast and I was blown away!!! I have no idea what they put in the spread to make it taste so yummy!! Sometimes I find toasts with feta a bit too cheesy but not with this one! I couldn't recommend it more! My friends ordered salads that also looked so good! I am giving four stars because the service was lacking. We had to call someone over to take the bill and then they messed up our charges. They are still a new restaurant, so there may be growing pains. Overall, the food was amazing! Such a great breakfast/brunch spot for a sunny Sunday mid-morning. Eat Chow is cute & comfortable, the food is great, servers are kind, parking is (for the most part) solid -- overall, they hit most of the marks! I've been a small handful of times with my boyfriend but the meal from our most recent visit stuck out the most to me, hence my review. Though it was brunch time on a Sunday, we were sat in about 20 minutes (I don't think we've ever waited longer than 30) -- there's a solid amount of seating outside if you'd like to wait but can get filled out because this place pops off (and for fairly good reason) Once we were seated, we ordered the Truffle Parmesan Fries ($12) with a side of Chipotle Aioli ($0.75) -- always a good choice, we love a shoestring fry! I ordered the BBQ Breakfast Tacos ($16) & Corazon Margarita ($14) while my boyfriend ordered the Chow Benedict ($16), Double Espresso ($3.50), & Cookie Butter Cold Foam Cold Brew ($7) (both of our orders came with potatoes. They really, really know what they're doing with a potato, perfect amount of crisp & squish!) His Benedict was pretty good, they know how to do a hollandaise well & the ham was pretty enjoyable (I always go for a Salmon Benedict myself but this was pretty solid) The Cookie Butter Cold Foam Cold Brew was super enjoyable to him and pretty good to me, he's the coffee connoisseur so he knows way more than I do, I'd say his good review is trustworthy! As for the Corazon Margarita, it was fine. It honestly felt like it lacked a bit of flavor but it was very pretty, great for photos. Additionally, our server actually misheard me & brought the Corazon Mimosa out originally. Getting a free drink because the house made an error is always a great time but unfortunately, it was a bit too syrup-y for my liking! I think next time I'll just opt for the Espresso Martini ($14) that it looked like many people were enjoying. The star of the show was absolutely the BBQ Breakfast Tacos, hands down without a doubt. That Japanese BBQ sauce??? Out of this world. The bacon & goat cheese? Phenomenal. I would come back solely for these tacos, I was genuinely sad when I felt myself getting full & realized that I couldn't finish them all. Get them, trust me, TRUST ME! The restaurant is actually much smaller than I anticipated and glad we came early. Be prepared to wait to if you aren't there in the first hour after it opened. Ordered their tostadas, chilaquiles, and French toasts. Portions were generous and everything was beyond delicious! We somehow managed to polished the 3 entrees between my husband and I. Our server Amanda was very attentive and when we told her the truffle parmesan fries didnt taste much like truffle, she took it back to the kitchen to make sure it had more flavor. The salad sounded really good, but I ended up not really liking it. I thought I'd try something new today, so that's the only reason I got it.
