I'm saddened by the direction Eat Chow seems to be headed. They used to have unique flavors on the menu and it seems to be more basic flavor profiles now. They had a delicious BBQ eggs Benedict years ago but got rid of it and now have a basic Benedict. They used to have delicious Thai beef salad and my favorite seared ahi salad but both have been taken off the menu and all that's left are basic salads. I hope they bring back their some of their more unique dishes of introduce some new ones! read more

Let me say I eat here in person and take out frequently. It is one of my wife's favorite places. I hope this a one off. I ordered the steak wedge salad(a favorite). Not this time. No wedge..shredded lettuce. Overdone steak. If I wanted a carne asada taco without the tortilla, I would have ordered somewhere else. Eat Chow, wow! Casual vibes, Big flavors... I'd mention the laid back and cozy atmosphere, but I DoorDash from this restaurant. It's one of the few restaurants on DD that exceeds expectations every time. Eat Chow serves elevated comfort food with a twist. The 8oz Chimichurri Skirt Steak is tender and full of flavor. The steak was flavorful on its own, but the Chimichurri added a flavor I would come back for every day! The thin cut fries were the perfect compliment because they were crispy enough to stand up to the sauce and not greasy like most fries. Likewise, I've ordered the crispy meat tacos which are filled with delicious shredded rib eye steak, cotija cheese, and pico de gallo. Few restaurants can prepare a crispy taco without it being greasy, but Eat Chow got it right. Well done chef... or should I say you're rare. read more

My husband and I were in town on a Sunday morning and came across Eat Chow and are so happy we did. The wait was only about 20min on a Sunday around 11am which isn't bad at all. There is a super cute consignment store a few places down and it's a great way to spend the time while you wait to sit! They have tons of street parking, at least while we were there. The food was good and portions were big. Really loved the cocktails! The dirty chai espresso martini was fire. The perfect mix of flavors and wasn't too sweet which is my favorite. We live in San Diego and don't have an Eat Chow location which is so sad! The next time we are in Costa Mesa we will make sure to stop by and try the churro French toast! read more

Eat chow has been on the bookmark list to try forever. If you're coming on a weekend during social hours, expect a wait. And if you're hungry expect to be famished of boredom before the food actually comes, that is if they don't forget the fatty crispy juicy truffle fries we ordered but never got. All for the better cause I don't need more reason to sweat. Just when you're so done waiting and getting questionably irate, butt is numb and topics trite-fully discussed.. do you forgo all that when your plates all arrive simultaneously. Now this is weeks after I'd been there and I can remember loving every bite but conflicted with wanting to return. The food is worth the wait. It's all so simple but flavors are fully developed, combined; the toast was properly toasted and eggs poached beautifully. Arugula is lightly dressed but flavorful. I've heard fantastic things about Amy's egg white omelette. If you have a bigger party, they might be able to take reservations but not for anything less than 4-5 I'd imagine. Wow! This place is kind of mind blowing. My bf and I arrived when nobody was there. Allison our server was fabulous! She knew how to read the room and set the mood for my bf and I. Started coming here about 4-5 years ago, the food is excellent, the breakfast tostadas and lemon french toast are thee go to menu items for us. Service has always been on point, friendly and attentive the atmosphere inside is nice, seems that they expanded a bit, idk it had been a while since we had last come. I absolutely LOVE Eat Chow!! I have been going since around 2015 and hadn't been in awhile and just came back tonight. Omg "THE Burger" I'm not joking is probably one of my favorite burgers I've ever had. I try burgers everywhere I go and this one was juicy AF, full of flavor, bacon was crispy and thick, and lots of secret sauce!! The sweet potato fries with cojita cheese is another go to for me. Walked in today (Thursday) at 11:30 am, stood by the hostess area while the server and employees walked by us several times. No one offered us a seat or greeted us. A few minutes later a group of guys walk in and the employee tells them and us (through a second hand communication) to sit anywhere. The group of guys that came after us took the booth seat I wanted so we sat outside. Waited for a while, saw the group of guys who came in after us get their orders taken before us while no one came to serve us - so we just left. They have seating available inside and out. Recommend eating outside when it's a beautiful warm day. Expect a little wait when you arrive after opening. I don't know why I expected a french toast that I could easily make at home, but taste wise definitely wasn't it. Maybe it was the bread part of the toast, but it had a weird taste. Almost like gas? Still ate it regardless because I knew it would've been a while until my next meal. Don't recommend ordering this. But do try it out to see if you think the same. I had an absolutely awesome breakfast last Saturday 9/20 at Eat Chow in Costa Mesa. We were in from out of state and were visiting some friends for the weekend that live in Newport Beach. This is easily one of the best breakfast spots that we have been to in a long time. The menu is nice and creative with a great selection without being too overwhelming. I typically get burritos everywhere I go, so I chose the Chow Breakfast Burrito. It was outstanding. Our server's name was Nivea (sp?), and she was one of the highlights of our meal. She was super inviting and had such a great energy. She made fantastic recommendations to everyone and they were all spot on. She always came back to make sure we had everything we needed even with a busy breakfast crowd. I would definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for a good breakfast or brunch spot. I will definitely be back the next time we are in town and would be requesting the same server. read more

Came here with my boo thang this past weekend. We found this place on Yelp. With all the good reviews, why not? We weren't sure which side was the entrance to the building. Outside has a patio with plants. It was pouring rain when we went, so no one was sitting on the patio. There is a parking lot right across the way as well. You just have to cross the street and you are there. When we walked in, we were greeted right away and seated. We loved our booth in the corner. Perfect so I could kiss and cuddle my man while dining in lol We ordered the truffle Mac and cheese, crispy cauliflower, a panini and the 3 amigos. First off, that truffle Mac and cheese did not deliver. The sauce was too thin and watery. Not enough cheese. The flavor was flat as well. We ordered it without bacon, and they messed up and made it with bacon. They re-made it for us. So maybe they rushed it since they had to re-make? I don't know. Secondly, the crispy cauliflower. This does not taste like your typical fried cauliflower at restaurants. It comes with a sauce on top, tomatoes, garnish and lemons. For my boyfriend and I, it just had too much going on. You really didn't get to enjoy the crispy, fried cauliflower with all the other stuff thrown in there. It was overwhelming. Sometimes less is more. Ya know? The Brie panini was very sweet and seemed to lack something. I liked the mushrooms in it. But it was an odd tasting panini. Like is this a dessert or sandwich?! Didn't care for that sandwich. All the ingredients are good on their own. But thrown together, it just wasn't a good mix. My boyfriend ordered the 3 amigos and gave decent feedback for that dish. So overall, we liked it. Didn't love it, but liked it. Would we go back? I'm thinking not lol But the booth was comfy and we enjoyed being able to watch the rain through the windows while we ate lunch. I hadn't been to Eat Chow for a while (no particular reason). Went back last Saturday night and the food is still as great as ever! The crispy cauliflower appetizer was delish! I had the warm chicken curry salad and it was fantastic. I rarely find salads that are worth raving about. My husband had the spicy sausage pasta; I had a taste and it was super yummy. The butter cake was decadent and wonderful and to top things off, our server (sorry that I don't remember her name) was super sweet and attentive. A very solid brunch location with a small parking lot across the street. Not very busy on a Saturday morning around 9am so we got our food quickly. I got the chorizo bowl with egg/avocado and it's very savory. A hardy portion and a good amount of bacon mixed in. Not spicy at all honestly but it was very filling especially with the crispy potatoes. Their orange juice is fresh squeezed so that's always a plus. The chorizo was good, but it could use a tad bit more crunch. My wife ordered the short rib tostada. She enjoyed it and was a decent size portion. My wife actually had to take the other portion home. She also ordered a latte. The waitress spilled a bit on the platter and even though we told her it was fine, they took it off the bill. The parking isn't too bad. I went Sunday morning and there was plenty of street parking even after I left. It was a pretty long wait but it helped that they had seats for us. The staff were also checking in on us and our spot on the list constantly without us having to ask so that was nice. The truffle parmesan fries were REALLY good. I would come back just to eat those again! Definitely try it if you stop by here. I loved the cafe mocha. I don't like strong coffee so it's the prefect drink if you want a pick me up and have a sweet tooth! The eggs Benedict were okay. I didn't really like the hollandaise sauce compared to other places I've tried. My friend had the spicy chorizo hash which the server also said was one of her favorites to get. I got the short rib breakfast tostadas and was pleasantly surprised by the flavor considering this isn't a full-on Mexican restaurant.
