We did. Day one -nothing heard. Day two - nothing heard. Called office. Told it will be at least a few weeks. Got transferred to the Manager, Ryan, who promptly stated that the contract we signed did not have a delivery date on it. Don't trust these guys - they will lie to get your business and then tell you that you are locked into a contract. Never again.

William the mechanic was polite, thorough and knowledgeable and the labor charge of just under $200 was reasonable for the high-quality service provided. The problem was with the price of the two exact springs was 500% more than what it could purchase the springs for. My mistake was we brought Academy in for a routine $200 service call and then found out a spring was broken. I was stuck. Subsequently I had another reputable company come in on the same day to provide an estimate for the other side of the garage. Their price was $350 vice the $718 we shelled out to Academy. We could have gotten both garages refurbished for that price. Very disappointed that we got ripped off!

Their technician replaced this spring with the same type (250 lb. x 32 spring), but he indicated that given the weight of the wooden door, a heavier spring should have been installed back in 2022. (A 262 x 40 lb. "High Cycle"). I have written Door Doctor multiple times including certified return receipt to have the proper spring installed, but they have yet to contact me and resolve the issue. Unfortunately, this experience has been completely unacceptable. I signed a service agreement, paid a deposit, and was told the replacement panel for my damaged one would take 4-6 weeks. Two months later, after hearing absolutely nothing, I called them and discovered they had forgotten to place the order. They apologized and assured me it would be ordered immediately. After more weeks with no communication, I contacted them again in early July. I was assured they would look into the issue and provide regular updates. On July 24, I received a text saying the panel would arrive the following week and someone would contact me to schedule installation. Nearly a month later, after hearing nothing, I called again on August 20. They initially had no idea where the panel was. During that conversation, I learned the order apparently wasn't even placed until July 1--more than three months after I paid my deposit and more than a month after I had called them when they told me they had forgotten to place the order. The next day, I was told they had located the panel and it was ready for installation. Even then, it took nearly another week for someone to contact me to schedule. Installation was finally scheduled for August 31. I took the day off work and waited through the entire service window. At the end of the window, they called and asked if they could reschedule. That was the final straw. I canceled the job and requested my deposit back. The employees I dealt with were always pleasant, but at some point apologies become meaningless when nothing changes. Forgetting to place a customer's order once is a mistake. Failing to place it promptly after the customer discovers the mistake, repeatedly failing to provide promised updates, losing track of the order, and then wasting an entire day of the customer's time is a pattern of extremely poor business practices. After five months, I have no repaired door and am now waiting for my deposit to be returned. Based on my experience so far, I fully expect I'll have to chase them for that too. I cannot recommend Affordable Door.

Overall, I'm very disappointed. Prince William Garage Door installed the original garage door on a…read morenew home we purchased in 2016 and was contracted by the home builder. Since installation, the motor has had nothing but problems. The first few problems the home builder engaged them to make the repairs and we didn't have to pay, but after 1 year we had to call PWGD directly and pay them for the numerous repairs as it was apparently no longer under warranty. Come to find out from three other garage door companies, normally the warranty is 3 years on new installs!! Recently we needed yet another repair as the garage door was opening by itself. I called in and spoke with the owner, Ricky, who was overly talkative about how amazing he says he is and went off on a politics rant, but spent a lot of time explaining to me what he thought the problem was with our unit. He also said Liftmaster is "Chinese junk" and that he would never sell one (yet he had no problem selling one to our home builder). He said the solution was to replace the Liftmaster motor with another brand that had another 1 year warranty, or I could pay them to come check the wires in the existing motor and he would provide zero warranty. I told him I would call him back at the end of the day with a decision. I called back an hour later to book the appointment to have the motor replaced with his recommended brand, and spoke with a receptionist who said they were very busy and needed to call me back. By the end of the day I hadn't heard anything so I called again and left a voicemail. I called again the next morning and left another voicemail. I never heard anything back. I guess they don't want my business? I ended up calling another company who came out and replaced the motor (for less than PWGD quoted) on the same day, and told me no matter what happens they'll fix it for free for 3 years. As a business owner myself, a customer having this many problems with a single unit clearly has an issue that should have been addressed sooner. If I was in PWGD's shoes and saw the service ticket history, I would have replaced the motor as a courtesy considering it's never worked perfectly and should have been replaced from the start under warranty. That's how I treat my own customers at least...plus we've consistently gone back to and paid PWGD to repair it, totaling more than the cost of a new unit. The only reason for two stars and not one, is the fact that the owner did indeed spend quite a bit of time on the phone with me originally when I called in to remotely diagnose the issue over the phone, so I will give credit where credit is due.
