The kitchen is not very clean I would say. Some of the dishes are good but more oily than I expect. The fish is not fresh and I strongly don't recommend it. read more

Not genuine Chinese Hunan cuisine. Food is not properly and seriously cut into small pieces.

I had the bullfrog, stir fried lamb and the silken tofu. All three entrees were excellent and came in good family style portions. The frog and the lamb are very spicy (and you should expect that with Hunanese food). read more

They just opened a while ago and it's a good place to go to. A lot of food are spicy but not a problem for me. The only problem I can think about is it's too noisy in busy hours. I will go back again. Suggestions: Turn down the background music or play some smooth music during busy hours because with the music people have to speak louder which makes the whole environment even noisier. read more

Super long line, super spicy The kind that burns the stomach without the numbness. We came per friends recommendation, arrived at 6:15 Sat evening, don't get sat down until 7:20. Thing I don't like was plastic cup and multi-chipped edge plate. All of them !! The hammer chilli egg plant was fun, it has thousand years duck egg inside, fun, couldn't imagine that combo. The other 3 color egg plan was also fun, practically eat a bowl of raw garlic. The spicy tripe was delicious too and so was the spicy sour fish. The stir fry lamb was a bit regular. Overall very spicy and loaded with salt and it must be that way. Will have to check out the Cupertino branch when they open. read more

Overall good food, good service, nice ambience. I liked the fried rice and lamb very much, was not fond of their fish head.. Tofu was also good. read more

It was so much better than expected. I really enjoyed it. Bought 3 different dishes and all of them were so good. Most definitely eating from here again. read more

I've been here almost once a week for the last 3 months. One thing I always order is off the menu, white pepper fried with pork. Honestly, it's so good I wish they would make it a permanent on the menu. The portions are large and prices match that. The fish in this picture is my #2 dish. I can eat these two any time, any day. If you want consistently good and flavor packed food, come on down !! read more

This is definitely one of the most authentic Hunan style Chinese food in the bay area. They opened in February this year and I can't believe I haven't tried it till now. Though it's really delicious, please be prepared about the spicy level of all foods. The less-medium-more spicy level is based on Hunan standard, not anywhere else. The place is clean and we had good service here. read more

The food is authentic and flavorful--I would give 4 stars BUT: My friend who isn't of East Asian descent went on his own and he only got an English menu which did not have ANY of the actual Hunan dishes on it. It was basically a glorified Panda Express menu and he left very disappointed. The servers here really need to give both menus to customers of all races and not assume that anyone who doesn't look Chinese can only stomach chow mein and fried rice. read more

The place is my once-a-week lunch place. I have tried many spicy food restaurants in the South Bay, so far this one is on my top list. Main reason is that most dishes have the right amount of salt! (Wanna say "all dishes" but I haven't tried them all yet). They take order pretty quick and most time get them done in 10 or 15 minutes. The shredded Tripe and kids size steamed egg are my recommendations :) read more

First time here since some pictures and reviews were good on Yelp even though there were only a few. The first dish was served fast but it took forever for the second and third dishes to be served. We ordered fried rice, and it was so simple with fried eggs and some green onions but cost an arm and leg!!! Never ordered that cuz it's not worth it. The stir fried beef with peppers totally burned our tongues and made us sweat like a pig! We were so numb that we couldn't taste anything. Wish the waitress warned us when she was taking our orders. Finally the fish fillet with sour soup was served after a long wait, and there were only three or four small pieces of fish fillet and rest were were all spices and few veggies. Totally not worth the price again. We felt being cheated on the price and quality of the food. Won't come back again. read more

Easterly - the serving was small with almost nothing inside for $10.99. It's not the fried rice we have in the typical Chinese restaurant. - Chinese Near Me - Santa Clara, California

Bring a strainer.... I used to think this place was decent. However, they apparently got a new chef and weren't offering the authentic Chinese dishes, so we ordered Orange chicken and Kung Pao chicken. They both tasted the same, although the Kung Pao was sweet and drenched in oil. When I brought this up to our server and showed him the sea of oil, he just said sorry and walked away. Didn't even offer to take it back or try something different. RIP Easterly read more

If you are in search for really delicious spicy food, check out Easterly. I visited this place 3 days ago with my family, and it was pretty neat. We had awesome time. Staff was very friendly, they tried to help us with our order. You should be ready that most their dishes are really salty and spicy. Like. VERY. So if you are not ready or not so familiar with that kind of food, ask them to add less. All in all, good place. read more

For the first couple times, I visited here and left disappointed because I just did not think the food was worth the waiting. However I went with friends who knows how to order food here and I was impressed. I learned that you want to order spicy food here. The spicy food here are so delicious. Whether it's the boiled fish, stir-fry beef and lamb, spicy cabbage with minced pork. Anything spicy are just so delicious. I wouldn't recommend anything else but I see here because they are just not that good. so if you like spicy and don't mind the waiting. This is one of the best in town for sure. read more

Went here for lunch and there are mostly Chinese people that eat here. So this says something for the authentic ness of the food. I ordered the chicken with basil and it tasted homemade. It did not have a unique flavor that I could enjoy. This is a not a place I would try again but it could be that I am not a local and hence don't have a taste for the unique speciality. read more

What I got (2nd and last round): House Fried Rice, Chicken $9.99 The chicken for this dish was clealry boiled/blanched in advance, in bulk, and was dry and completely void of any kind of seasoning. Rice was mushy and oily. Again, they clearly used hot, steamed rice, instead of cold rice. Yuck. Kung Pao Chicken $11.25 Last time this dish was wonderful. This time, very poorly made. It's quite clear now that this restaurant practices what I've seen a lot of Indian restaurant do: they prepare their meats in advance. The chicken for this dish was boiled/blanched in advance, in bulk. Then they grab a bit from the stash, add sauce, etc., and stir it up in a wok/skillet. By doing this, the chicken isn't really cooked in the sauce, and is without seasoning, making it bland and dry. Pathetic. Shame too, the sauce is actually quite good. But this lazy practice ruins the entire dish. Mongolian Beef $11.99 This was worst of all. The beef (if that's what it really was), was bland, really dry, and impossible to chew. Again, like the chicken, I'm sure the beef is prepared in advance with no seasoning, instead of being cooked in the sauce & spices. And, who makes Monolian Beef with grren beans INSTEAD of green onions! Really!? These green beans were raw and also nealry impossible to chew too. You can do better in your grocer's freezer. All in all, Easterly started out good, and has quickly failed. I won't be buying from them again. read more

I've been ordering the Thai Red Chicken curry here for several years and I'm never disappointed. It's many of the same entrees as previous owners. (Yan Can) The portion is more than any one person can handle. The chicken is all white meat. The service is hectic at the lunch hour so I usually come at the tail end so always have a peaceful experience. read more

I've never seen orange chicken made like this! So colorful with real orange slices, red and green bell peppers! The taste was pretty good and for $11, you can't beat that price! Overall, I would come back and try other dishes because if they can make orange chicken like thiS, I'm sure other items will be just as colorful and flavorful! read more

My favorite Chinese restaurant in Bay Area. I go there every week and recommend every dish on the menu. Waiters are kind and patient. Once my friends tried to move a very hot pot on the table, the elder waitress saw him and then pat his hand immediately and saying 'watch out, don't touch!', with blame but concern, like a mother caring her child. And she helped us moved the pot. My friend was moved and became a fan of the restaurant since then. read more

Very dirty restaurant. My stomach feeling very bad after eat lunch today, will not back again.

Ordered take-out from them and was given the wrong dish with ingredients none of us is even willing to try. We called the restaurant back and told them about the situation, They started denying and shouting they would never make such a mistake, and started shouting and blaming us for placing the wrong order. We explained nicely that we ordered the right dishes, we even had those conversations captured on our dashcam (We were on speakers when ordering) The moment they realize we had proof, they lowered their voice. However, they still deny the fact they made a mistake and start accusing us of making up evidence. They demand us to return to the restaurant and show them the dashcam clip, they need to see it to believe it, in order to give us a refund for that one dish. We were already 40 minutes out, so didn't even bother. We were short on 1 dish so my son ended up ordering something else from another restaurant. Horrible experience and I would NEVER order from them again. Besides, the food isn't even good. read more

The quality of food is not stable, due to the dish I ordered didn't states is spicy, but when it comes, it was WAYYY TOO SPICY, after talk to the waiter, they did remake it but I recommend they should put some suggestion on the menu so we won't order dish that we are not tend to eat. Another dish we order, rice with ribs, we found hair in the dish, so they cancel the order and we end up order something else, but the service is really horrible, and without any apologies. Since it is a open kitchen, therefore the smell is very strong inside the restaurant and hard to talk to my friends since it's very noisy inside. We will not come back again if they haven't make any improvements. read more

Really wanted to enjoy the food but the service isn't exactly the best and I stood around for around 5-10 minutes with the servers glancing at me but never sitting me down or paying me any attention really. I guess you have to be a bit more assertive here to get their attention. Even throughout the meal it was like the servers weren't really keeping track of their tables? It seemed a bit disorganized. As for the food, the menu was just bright pink paper stapled together and a lot of my menu was in Chinese so it was difficult for me to really know what I wanted. When I finally did get my food, I got the Fried Noodle with Egg and purposely chose that because it did not have any sign for spiciness. (Because of my stomach ulcer I am trying to avoid spicy foods) Turns out its QUITE SPICY!!!!! My boyfriends Beef noodle soup which was supposed to be spicy was way less spicy than the supposedly not spicy fried noodles. The noodles were Okay but please be warned they lie about the spiciness. It's also quite oily. Will probably not be back. read more

We've been here before but today was not a good visit. We ordered a sweet glutinous rice cake, chicken soup, poached fish fillet, and stir fried pea tips with minced garlic. My first issue was that when they served the soup we had to ask for bowls! Who does that! You can't eat a soup on a plate. The soup was not flavorful- it was watered down and the boiled chicken had no flavor. The pea tips were way too salty and we had to almost "beg" for our rice. The fish was ok but not great and I was disappointed in the rice cake - it was at best mildly sweet. For the prices they charge here the service should be top notch, the food should be outstanding the people should be friendly. None of those are true. I would not recommend as they have already over played their hand. read more

Ordered Takeout. Food was average, not great and have had better. Just fyi.. portion sizes are small and prices are not cheap for the amount of food you get. We were a party of 6, so ordered 2 orders of spring rolls (there are only 2 spring rolls per order), chicken lo mein, beef broccoli, orange chicken, general chicken, kung pao chicken, 2 orders of white rice. It was not enough food for 4 kids and 2 adults.. read more
