This restaurant is probably my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in the DMV area. I work very close to this place so I just walk here during my lunch break maybe every other week. They give you a free appetizer which is shrimp crackers/chips with two different hot sauces. The employees here take your order quickly and bring it out to you quickly as well. I've had the pho, vermicelli, and banh mi here so far and they were ALL delicious. I love how they cook the vermicelli and banh mi meat. It's super flavorful and delicious. It was empty when I arrived at 6pm but was packed when I left at 6:45. Service was fine for a single diner who needed nothing. Food took longer than expected. I appreciated the free shrimp toast as I was starving. I ordered the pho ga. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of chicken. I wish there had been more jalapeños on the accoutrements plate. Everything came out hot and stayed that way. Broth to noodle ratio was good. I thought the sriracha sauce was less spicy than other places I've been. First pho place I've visited in Northern VA after being introduced to pho a year back. This pho best my favorite restaurant down in richmond. Ordered their chicken white meat pho (#25) - fresh and delicious. It also came along with some free rice crackers (in picture). Food came out super quick (3-5 minutes once I ordered). I went back for the steak pho and it was delicious. The broth is clear, not greasy, buy still flavorful. The small was filling but it was so good that I will get the large next time. They are very accomodating. My husband could only have broth because of surgery the next day. They gave him a large serving for only $3. We even got one more to go. My vegan girlfriend and I came her for lunch. We were given big puffy crunchy shrimp cracker puffs to snack on. She couldn't have any, so I ate them all. She got lemongrass tofu, I got curry tofu. Both tasted amazing. I wish the curry tofu had a bit more curry. The hot oil here is amazing. The chili sauce is also good, but the hot oil is some of the best i've had. We've been coming to this restaurant for several years now. Every time, the Pho has been good, the service attentive and on point, and the staff family friendly. Usually a family of six, with kids no older than eight, tends to turn heads and produce sour looks. Each time, no matter how busy, they've been patient and kind, with good service. Wow! I found this place by using the "PokéStop Nearby" Yelp filter to grab a bite to eat while catching some Pokémon (I know). It sure surpassed my expectations of what looks from the outside to be a little Vietnamese hole-in-the-wall. The inside is modern, clean, and spacious. I ordered the shrimp and pork vermicelli bowl and added spring rolls per the recommendation of our server. While we were waiting, they brought shrimp crisps with two dipping sauces on the house. The shrimp crisps tasted like snacks one could buy from any Asian grocery store, but the two dipping sauces were great. Just the right amount of tang and kick. Once the food arrived, I dove in and began scarfing down all the tasty bits - shrimp and pork. So fresh and light without being greasy or overly salty! And as soon as my water glass emptied, a server would appear to refill it. To top it all off, we even received complementary flan. I plan on becoming a regular here. TL;DR? Perfectly good Vietnamese grub in Old Town Fairfax! Came here on Sunday, also known as THE coldest day in all of existence, after Sisters Thai was too busy for us reservation-less plebs. The restaurant was mostly empty, which meant we got excellent, attentive service! We were treated to a complimentary prawn chip appetizer, and also ordered the garden roll (summer roll) and the East Wind shrimp appetizer. Both were delicious -- their peanut sauce is bosssss. For my entree I got the vermicelli bowl with spring rolls (a personal favorite), and my boyfriend got the shaky beef and a bowl of pho, which I ended up sharing with him. The pho broth is very rich and flavorful, and everything was nice and hot. For dessert, we also got a complimentary mango sticky rice! Came here with a strong craving for pho and banh mi and that's exactly what I got. The restaurant is very quaint and inviting with fast service and decent prices. The banh mi was pretty large, but the meat has great flavor and the cilantro added a nice touch. The pho was pretty average, the portion of meat was a little small, but the broth was delicious. Whenever I get pho, I always order Tai which is a topping of thinly sliced rib-eye. They do not offer this at East Wind -- instead they use New York strip steak. When I asked the proprietor why he does not offer the former -- he said that New York Strip makes for a more tender, tastier cut of meat. He was right. My pho was PHO-Nom-Nom-Nom-menal! We were right away provided with shrimp chips that came with two various spices/oils that hit the spot. We were then greeted with our appetizers. I went here for lunch and took advantage of their lunch special. There were lots of options to choose from on their lunch menu including pho, vermicelli bowl, soup, rice plates and more. You can either order the main course for $6.95 or get an appetizer, main meal and a drink for $10.95. They also provide free shrimp chip appetizer with 2 hot sauces and a free flan dessert! They had great service as well. They refilled my drink immediately after I finished drinking and they cleared our empty plates quickly. I ordered the chicken vermicelli bowl and it was great. I loved the taste. And surprisingly, the noodles were warm. Perfect for a cold day. I also shared the beef summer roll appetizer. It was decent. It was a bit small but still delicious. I have been here 3 times as I work nearby. (Coincidentally, with my sister Kimberly V. who was the last to review this place!) Had a good time, I was not a fan of the bun bo hue- I found it to be slightly oily and lacking in flavor but the Pho was fantastic and the specialty vietnamese dishes such as the clay pot was amazing. I like that they offer NY Strip steak with their pho, the tender meat makes a huge difference. I normally don't even order the tai at other restaurants because of the toughness, but the brilliant addition of NY Strip makes me love pho again! This is my go-to restaurant for pho. The servers are always friendly and the service is quick! I've tried many of the different bowls and have enjoyed all of them. At the beginning they have some sort of chili pepper dip thing with rice-ish cake things which I love. They usually bring a flan type of dessert at the end and it's not my favorite but I think it's just the texture.
