This has been a restaurant that has stood out to me many and many times when driving down route one. I have wanted to try it out and today was finally the day. I didn't even realize the overall rating until we had already sat down and ordered. So, was hoping it would impress me more than the average would make me believe. If you can tell, based off my 4 stars I believe they deserve a higher rating. I do not believe it to be the best Asian restaurant and by no means is it the worst either. Service was extremely quick and our waiter was friendly! Granted, it was not busy at all considering it is non-tourist season. We received our cocktails and food right after before we even tried a sip! No complaints about that! Another huge plus was both drinks were under $10 which I think is hard to find nowadays. I enjoyed their Shark Tooth and my wife got their Sloe Gin Fizz and both were tasty. My wife then got the pork lo mein lunch combo while I got the General Tso's lunch combo and both were perfect sized portions. The overall vibe/ambiance makes you think Asian cuisine that is also a smidge more upscale than your typical local Asian restaurant. In the end I would say look past the average rating and give this spot a try. It may not blow your socks off but for the price I found it very much worth it! Two lunch combos and two cocktails under $50 before tip is harder to find these days!

Wow. This place is a freaking mansion. The statues out front, the fish tank inside, the spiral staircases. It's magnificent. The carpet is straight out of a movie. But, the food is out of this world. We have been in Maine for about 3 hours, and instead of eating a lobster (yet) because I didn't see one in the tank, we decided Chinese food in the state furthest away from our home. We shared the General Tso chicken, with an egg roll and pork fried rice. We also got the Chicken Hong Kong style chow mein. And woah. Just hold on. That pork, so pink, so sweet, so flavorful. The pig wasn't even upset because he got put into a food so good. The General Tso, perfect breading, lovely sauce, great chicken. The chow mein, basically the star of the show. It's hard to find HK style noodles that really hit just right. You have to get the perfect blend of soggy, and crispy, with either a veggie or a protein. If you can make that bit, you've won the game of life. Spoiler alert, we made that bite time and time over. The chicken is fantastic. I could cut it with a spoon. I loved everything about this place, including the backhanded fortunes that came out of the cookies. The one and only downside, they don't have sweet and sour pork any longer apparently. Which is unfortunate because the pork was a hit, and sweet & sour pork is a STAPLE. It's obvious why they've won a bunch of food awards. This place is killer. I would fly back to Maine from San Diego just for this dinner. Srsly.

Second they at this spot. It is right down the road from school and I love soup. First visit was a disaster. Hoping to have a better experience this time....dissatisfied 1 hot and sour soup. Meh...marginal. I get better from my local take out spot for $2 vs $5 2 crab rangoon super sweet. It's like they added sugar to the filling. They must have. Tastes like cheesecake. No sign of crab or anything other than sugar and cream cheese 3 egg roll Such a basic in chinese asian take out. This was ok bit had a flavor of cinnamon? Weird combo. I can eat the worst of egg rolls but left this one after a few bites 4 pork ribs overcooked and dry, lots of gristle and grease. Second time this place fails basic lunch. Wont return. Save your money and find a different spot. Better chinese Thai Asian eats elsewhere ETA definitely wont be back. The staff is rude and this is the 2nd time a server was out of line with their comments and actions.

Wasn't terrible, but the Pepsi had a off taste. Fried rice was a little disappointing. Besides that it wasn't bad!

Very good, standard Chinese food. A little greasy. Good flavour. Nothing fancy. Just normal Chinese takeout.

First things first - parking is super easy, it's a free valet service (not obvious at first, as there is parking behind the restaurant, but you're greeted right away when you pull in). We walked through the bar area, over to the restaurant area (surprisingly the bar was quite full), and were able to choose a table by one of the two fireplaces. On the restaurant side, it feels very cozy, and homey, exactly where you want to spend a cold night, inside eating dinner. Our server was lovely, greeted us right away and provided menus. I started with a cosmo (they had flavored versions like strawberry, but I elected to go for the classic). For an appetizer, we started with the bacon wrapped scallops - the bacon was maple glazed, and wonderfully crispy, with the scallops cooked perfectly, and some micro-greens scattered on the plate - delicious. For entrees, my mom had the baked seafood stuffed haddock which came with a lobster sherry cream sauce, a massive pile of perfectly cooked green beans, and mashed potatoes (yum). I went with the duck special, which was absolutely delightful. It came with Brussels sprouts, and I subbed out the au gratin (I very strongly dislike sweet potatoes), for mashed potatoes. It was delicious. We were so full, we opted for dessert to go (chocolate cake), which was generously portioned, and decadently delicious. We really enjoyed the meal - this was a wonderful dinner to celebrate my mom's 80th birthday!

We started with scallops wrapped in bacon and their bread service. The butter was sweetened and the bread was great. The scallops with bacon were excellent. My husband enjoyed a few vodka with cranberry and he wasn't disappointed. He chose the crab stuffed shrimp and sincerely loved it. The rice and green beans were great but he was full from the shrimp. I chose the filet with a lobster tail, fingerling potatoes and asparagus. Everything was simply superb. Dress was casual and the place was clean. Not thinking they are accessible though as there were steps going in the two doors we used.

I finally made it over to North Star Cantina in Wells!…read more Opened in November 2025, North Star Cantina offers a nice vibe and atmosphere for food and cocktails. The place has a full service bar with seating, several tables with small lamps, and comfortable lounge seating. This is a great place for couples, small groups, or single folk to hang out. They also feature live music on the weekends. The food menu offers a selection of smoked meats, tacos, waffle stacks, charcuterie boards, mac & queso, tot mess (loaded tots), fried pickles, flashed asparagus, and chips & queso. The bar offers signature & seasonal cocktails, beer (cans), wine, and mixed drinks. I stopped by here on a Monday evening and took a seat up at the bar. Those high seats at the bar are a bit tricky. I was given an ice water and a clipboard with pages of drinks and food. I decided on the Charcuterie Board ($30 plus tax) and a Mac & Queso side ($8 plus tax). The food was served to me in 10 minutes. The Mac & Queso was conveniently served in a black paper takeout box, which had firm elbow macaroni smothered in a thick white cheese sauce, rich flavors. The charcuterie board (chef's special) varies depending on the ingredients on hand in the kitchen. The thick wooden board was loaded with 2 hard cheeses (cut in thick slices), 1 soft cheese spread, 2 kinds of round crackers, green seedless grapes, big green olives, sweet gherkins, 3 smoked meats (brisket, sausage, turkey), orange jam, sweet & sour dipping sauce. There was enough food on the board to share for 2-4 people. Other boards served here had nuts, strawberries, grapes, different cheeses, and only 2 smoked meats. I needed some to go boxes for the much of the charcuterie cheeses, crackers, and meats. The check was presented which was $41.04 with tax and before tax. I was able to pay the check on their portable Toast handheld POS with credit card. Overall, I enjoyed some good eats and good friendly service from 2 bartenders and a manager. This local lounge is definitely Yelp event worthy.

The brisket tacos were packed with flavor, and the liquid gold queso really is as good as everyone says. I typically wait for my next trip to Texas when I'm craving great quality BBQ, not anymore! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and we loved being able to relax, enjoy delicious drinks (the espresso martini was a standout), and even play Go Fish with our family at the table. Northstar Cantina just feels easy and fun in the best way. We'll definitely be back.
