I haven't been to a buffet like this in years. It's kind of exactly what you'd expect. Groups of all ages coming to get an easy meal for all the picky eaters and children piling their plates high. I liked the variety of dishes to choose from. The peppered squid was a test outside what I'd normally trust at a buffet. Unfortunately, it was a bit crunchy from being dried out under heat lamps. My last weekday lunch at Uno was something like $14+, so decided to come back to East as it's been maybe couple of years since my last visit Today, I had to make a trip to Ft worth to pickup something with my son, so decided to stop by for lunch. It was $14.95 for all day Sunday, which was fair. I always like to start with Mongolian, and that was perfect as expected. The sushi, well, those were not as good as the rice used is just plain old rice and not even close to the real thing, even for a sushi at a Chinese restaurant, so don't bother. Aside from that, I've tried a little of everything else and they were all good and fresh. The fried shrimp especially were tasty, made a mess of myself but we'll worth it. Service as expected was decent for Chinese restaurant as I had low expectations, but the 2 waitresses kept coming back to clear our plates and refill the water at least 3 or 4 times. Aside from the pretend sushi, this was a good experience and deserves a 4 star. Keep in mind, I'm only comparing this to other Chinese buffet I had in the past. read more

Needed to eat somewhere not bbq related and was craving Chinese food. This was worth the price. Good customer service asked if I can see what was being served before I sat, no problem. Nice same-same variety of food you'd expect from a Chinese Buffet restaurant. Didn't go for the Mongolia Noodles cuz I just wanted to stuff my face without waiting. I was satisfied with the selection but the only reason not 5 stars.. sushi wasn't at par with what I've been use to at these spots and my favorite cheese wontons were good but not warm and stale. I used to absolutely love this place a few years ago. I would take dates here, and even brought my grandma and twin here when they came in town. That must have been before things went bad. I used to work at a Chinese restaurant that had a buffet and to-go side- so I understand how things run. This place is no good- the food is sitting too long- all is dried out, over cooked, and bland. Everything taste the same= greasy. I came on a Monday night at 6:30 so it should have been the busiest time of the night- the food was terrible. The last time I went, the food was terrible. Only one dish was hot (chicken on a skewer) and it had just come from the kitchen. EVERYTHING ELSE WAS COLD. It is dangerous to serve food that has been sitting out at that temperature. Chicken=cold. Seafood=cold. Eggrolls/Spring rolls=cold AND soggy. Green beans=cold. It was horrible. I could not tell the food was cold at the steam table. When I got to my table, I realized it. I almost did not eat because of the temperature, but I did. Then I worried about food poisoning for hours. Luckily, I didn't get it. And to make matters worse, they have raised their prices due to loss of business during covid. Staff is mixed ethnicity which is usual for Texas. That's one huge plus about Texas, it is a melting pot of multiple cultural experiences. Buffet is common Chinese cuisine nothing setting them apart except they do have big selection to choose from-sauces are similar to other establishments. They have Mongolian grill with full selection of meats, However I am Vegan so I enjoyed six different vegetables in garlic sauce. I have nothing bad to write; their very clean, smells good, food was hot and staff never forgot about me. Ohh, they do offer Sushi for vegans but I elected out at this time choosing other selection of veggies. One big plus they do offer real homemade hot mustard condiment. My nose is currently dripping. I always get buffet to go so today I only tried several items. Crab ragoons, eggrolls, egg flower soup, orange chicken ans sesame chicken all fresh and good. The honey chicken was bland. My favorite was the mongolian grill. The selection is decent and they have more sauces than normal buffet places. I loved it! I wish I would have came here before I wasted so many visits on uno. The food tasted fresher and the grill has more selection. At 4.29 a lb to go at East I got all the items for less than 9 bucks. I will definitely be back...probably again this week! read more

First off, it's a Buffett!!!! So, with that said, what you would expect that comes with a Buffett is very present. The atmosphere is a bit depressing, I wish Asian Buffetts would stop trying to be what they are not: i.e. "fine dining." We don't need painted cloud ceilings and l.e.d lighting and chandeliers, but alas this is what you will get! People slopping tremendous amounts of food and wasting it, yes, of course. Like I said, this is typically the crowd that these places attract. I checked in on Yelp and got a 10% off offer which made already a cheap meal even cheaper. Stick to the Asian food varieties on the Buffett, several of them were quite good. The American fare (pizza) and such looked gross, as did the dessert selection, quantity beats quality here as well. I used to love East Buffet but I was there a couple of weeks ago and their little cakes for dessert was moldy on the bottom. The staff apologized and didn't remove the moldy cake for about 10 minutes. I researched the Irving Restaurant Inspection site and East Buffet has a grade of "C" which is poor.
