As an Alberta boy, I'm very familiar with this chain but it has taken me a surprisingly long time to visit this location. Finally ended up here for an early dinner. The dining room wasn't open yet (it was a weekend) and while the bar didn't sound appealing, it was surprisingly comfortable. Happy hour on a Saturday? Sold. With some good savings to boot. Great choices to get a bit of a discount off your bill. Our server was incredibly friendly (if a bit forgetful) but relatively zero complaints out of our meal. Food tasted great. read more

First time at Earl's and my experience was just mediocre. My friend and I split a number of items on their happy hour menu. The crab cake and chicken karage were both unfortunately much drier than expected, flavours were OK. Of the 3 oysters I ate, one of them had definitely gone bad and left an awful fishy aftertaste in my mouth. While the old fashioned was presented in a sophisticated manner, it tasted more watered down than what I'm used to (before the ice had melted of course). When it came to paying for our bills, our waitress had punched in some non-Happy hour prices which neither my friend and I were impressed with. We had intentionally placed all our orders before 5pm to have the Happy Hour pricing. A few upsides to our meal were the margherita pizza, and the tacos (and the beautiful seating on their patio). Walked up to this spot following a Blue Jays game. Very impressed with the restaurant turnover with a Leafs game about to start and Jays fans coming in. We did have reservations + encouraged to do so. Drinks were good (cocktail presentation underwhelming but tasted great) + food was fresh. Few missing components however corrected without any trouble. I came here with a group of friends not expecting it to be so busy on a weekday so we did have to wait about 30min, but well worth the wait. Overall, our experience was amazing! I loved the interior decoration and the ambiance, although its a bit loud inside, I felt that the tables were separated enough that I didn't struggle to hold a conversation with my friends, despite the crowded environment. But if you're looking for a quiet, intimate meal this would not be the place. At first, I was a little hesitant about their menu because the prices seemed a little high, but their portions are quite reasonable and instead of ordering entrees we ordered a couple of appetizers and drinks to share. It's definitely more of an upscale dining, not a meal-on-a-budget option. The service was absolutely amazing! Our waitress, Ava, was kind and so through when we asked for recommendations, she really took the time to explain the dishes in detail and cater to specific dietary restrictions (my friend was vegetarian) and let us know what items we could substitute things like tofu in for meat and there were still plenty of plant based options for someone who is vegetarian. She came by plenty of times, which was great because we ordered a couple of dishes at a time and was very attentive. Also every drink she recommended was spot on and delicious. Their cocktails are reasonably priced and they have some great deals on their 'daily rituals' part of their menu if you're planning in advance to go there. Jumbo Lump Crab Cake - 4.5/5 I was worried that this wasn't going to be enough food but it's delicious, the crab is bound together with a crispy panko bread crumb and pieces of corn inside. The fennel slaw on the top worked to cut through any of the heaviness from the cake. For $25, it's not an amazing deal, but not an out-of-this-world price either. This would be a great item to share. Vegetable Tempura - 5/5 If you're looking for maybe one large appetizer to share with 3 or 4 people at an amazing price this would be it! I was shocked when it came out because there were so many veggies piled high on the plate I couldn't believe we only paid $14 for it. The tempura batter was light and fluffy with a nice tempura sauce on the side, I especially enjoyed how they fried green onions and shiso leaf which you don't see too often in vegetable tempura. Also the sweet potatoes were sliced quite thinly so you had almost a potato chip experience eating it. Crispy Tofu Sushi - 5/5 These tiny little tofus were packed full of flavor and suprisingly filling. Again, the combo of the fried tofu and the fresh shiso made the dish taste excellent together and the presentation is adorable. Probably not enough for a full meal but a wonderful couple of bites. For cocktails, the staff could probably recommend you drinks based on your tastes just as well, but my friends who are particularly picky about drinks that 'don't taste like alcohol' really enjoyed the Mango Don Julia Margarita, Watermelon Slush, and the Raspberry Mojito. I give this restaurant four stars. I have eaten at Earls Kitchen + Bar about ten times. Just two weeks ago I ordered takeout for the first time. Earls Kitchen + Bar is located downtown, on the north side of King just west of York. When it comes to happy hour and brunch specials, Earls has the best deals in town. They also have an amazing patio. My wife and I starting going to Earls on weekends for brunch but started going in the afternoons for happy hour as well, after we saw how good the food and drink specials were. Most recently we picked up 2lbs of wings (1lb spicy and 1lb salt & pepper) and a margarita pizza for $25 (great deal!) as part of happy hour, which also applies to takeout. The pizza was average but the wings were great. Even if you don't order during happy hour, I believe they are currently offering 20% on all takeout orders so take advantage while you still can. I will definitely order takeout again and I will definitely be back for brunch or happy hour once the restaurant opens back up. Four stars. read more

Came here today to try their happy hour menu. Bill was $30 including tip and tax. The yam fries were delicious and a generous portion, the margarita pizza was decent considering the low price, and the chicken Cajun burger + Caesar salad were excellent and super juicy. We will definitely come back soon to try out their happy hour brunch menu. I think their happy hour prices is what makes Earl's a good choice to go to as otherwise, I would probably try somewhere else. We had an absolutely rubbish experience when we booked for a part of 15. The entire party stood waiting for an hour as they make a mix up with our reservation. Luckily I had emails to show tot he guests waiting so they could finally get a table. The issue with this experience can go on and on but I never left a bad review at the time as the restaurant apologized and wanted to make up for the bad experience at anytime, with no expiration to the offer. I reached out to use our offer last month and no one was willing to assist and rather made me send them the original email to understand the issue. After multiple follow ups they said I should hear back with a gift card in a few days. It's been a month now and a few follow ups but they have chosen to fully disregard my email. Not sure how this is considered making up for a bad experience. It shows how much they care about customer experience. Clearly do not trust the service and do not trust the management on expecting to do any make up for you, should your experience be as bad as ours. read more

Been to Earl's out west, but this was my first time to the Earl's in downtown Toronto. Was in the office (yep, getting back to that now) so I popped across the street for a Sante Fe Chicken salad ($22). Salad was pretty good, it had lots of fresh ingredients and a nice lime/vinagrette dressing that tasted good but was a tad more creamy than I usually prefer. I got the dressing on the side so I was able to drizzle as I ate. Special mention, they gave me maybe a quarter of an avocado, it was very fresh. The chicken plentiful (looked like I got a small breast) but it was a tiny bit dry which is why I didn't give five stars. Weirdly, it tasted blackened -- not complaining about that -- but maybe they should have just called it a Cajun Chicken Salad instead. They take vaccine passports and contact tracing pretty seriously so there's a bit of a wait (maybe 5 mins) to get in at noon. I would imagine things might get more crowded after max capacity limits are eliminated (I was there the week before) so best to get there a bit earlier and you should be OK. read more

I was delightfully surprised when I was brought to Earls by my girlfriend. We were sat outside in late October which I thought was a little odd as the temperature began to drop. Our waitress came, and took our drink order and left. After waiting 40 minutes with our drinks to order we began to freeze, our obvious look for attention managed to grab another staff member to ask us if everything was okay, she happily moved us inside and we were then served by a fantastic waitress Molly. She was very attentive and cared about our experience. She got our food out to us quickly. The food was amazing and I'm glad we chose to stick around. While visiting Toronto, I ate at Earl's two nights in a row with a couple friends, both who had previously dined here before. This was my first time, and I'm officially a fan! We walked in on a Wednesday night, and the space was filled with multiple patrons who looked as if they just got off work. We were able to choose our own high-top table along the wall. The first night I ordered the Bacon & Cheddar Burger with garlic fries; both were amazing! I pretty much polished off the fries before even taking a bite of my burger. They were so golden and crispy, and the garlic with the Parmesan dipping sauce enhanced the flavor significantly. The burger was flavorful and perfectly cooked, I never even asked for a specific way which is usually 'well done' for me. I also ordered the Red Sangria, it was impeccable and a perfect complement to my meal. The second night, I ordered the Cajun Oven Roasted Salmon, and my goodness! As I delicately sliced the salmon into even pieces, it literally just felt apart. Not to mention, the flavor was out of this world! Unfortunately, I wasn't too fond of the less flavorful rice and squash, but the salmon more than made up for them. There was a $7.00 (CAN) on Frozen Bellinis so I ordered two those of those as well, and they were absolutely delicious. Might I add that there was a DJ this night! I cannot wait to return to Earl's to try more entrees on the menu particularly the steak and steak frites! In some ways this restaurant is better than I expected - they have a fairly large menu with something for all food allergies, intolerances, or preferences. The location is rather convenient and we were able to make reservations easily, although it seems to be walk-in only during certain peak hours. The interior is also large and spacious, which makes it suitable for work lunches or group meet-ups. I was honestly quite happy with everything: service was courteous and prompt, food came out efficiently and was well-presented, portions are good and prices are reasonable, the environment was very nice (chandeliers, pretty tablecloths, comfortable chairs)... except. EXCEPT the food was extraordinarily salty! I ordered the cajun salmon, which while extremely tender, was so overly salted I could barely taste anything else - a pity, because I could tell that I would've loved the spicy seasoning. Even the vegetables that came with it were salty. The burgers? Salty. The chicken on a salad? Yup. We ended up just passing the jug of water back and worth over the table...I don't understand it. We went in during a Friday afternoon for a quick round of drinks, which also happen to be the day where there's 2 dollar off signature cocktail (every Friday). Instead of getting different cocktails we got a pitcher of lime mojito (menu gives it a pretty name - big spoon 4 servings). Although the menu said one serving each has one ounce of alcohol, it's very light, almost like drinking lime juice. Not going to order this if we come back again. We also ordered four shots of fruit hoops, which is bright red in colour and very sweet, just the way I like my alcohol! With a Panasonic still happening, best to book seats so you aren't stressing. Just go on their website. Knocked off a star cause it's LOUD as hell. I had to yell to talk to the person across me. I got tinnitus so maybe that is why I had to yell? Who knows? So I'm gonna be real - fellas, ladies. If you wanna take your DATE here, not a good idea. Especially if they're shy or soft spoken. My boyfriend and I recently had a fabulous meal at Earl's during our trip to Toronto. We'd been unable to get a spot for dinner during the week, so on our last morning we decided to stop by right when they opened to see about a table for lunch. (After walking by what looked like such a cute place going to and from our hotel all week, we really didn't want to miss out.) Thankfully they were able to seat us on one of the few patio tables they had open. I started with a cosmo and he had a spicy margarita. We shared an order of hot wings as an appetizer. The wings came out quickly and were very crispy, which we both loved. I had the hamburger with sweet potato fries and he had the bacon cheeseburger with truffle fries. I have a dairy allergy, so the attention the staff and management paid to that from start to finish was really meaningful. I was checked on multiple times and made to feel very safe. (Side note, the vegan and gluten free bun they offer is phenomenal!) Our burgers were absolutely delicious and just the right amount of food. Some places really make burgers into a monstrosity, so we both appreciated the reasonable portion sizes given that we were about to take a long drive home. Customer service wasn't stellar. We popped in for drinks and to watch the latter part of a baseball game. There were 2 hostesses at the station and we were asked to go to bar on the left as the other one wasn't opened. Our female bartender was quick to serve and to follow up when our drinks were getting low. But, the male bartender was less attentive, seemed a little tipsy and forgot to bring our check. We sat for a while trying to get either's attention. No luck for several minutes as they were talking to each other not serving the half-empty bar We finally paid and headed out and none of the THREE people at the host station said a word as we departed. These missed small tokens of courtesy set a bad tone, as if people have forgotten that they are in the hospitality business. The service was excellent. Several staff supporting our table - not just one server to cater to our needs. The room was beautiful. Large, open concept with lots of natural light. Comfortable and varied seating. 2nd floor for dinner time! Tasteful decor. The food was well plated. We chose a large variety from the menu to share for lunch. I appreciate their attention to adding fresh herbs and spice accents to their dishes. Wagyu beef sushi was disappointing - a second sliver of beef on each piece may have helped find it's flavour or texture OR less rice to balance the portions. Breaded calamari too much like popcorn shrimp. Chowder delicate and good. Crabcakes would be good paired with a bit of raw veggie to help ring in the taste. Had the prawn cocktail. A nice place for business lunches. I would go there again if it was my neighbourhood and i had the budget. I've been to Earls several times for drinks, dinner, and brunch. What separates Earls from other Toronto restaurants is the reasonable pricing and great ambiance. BRUNCH: They have a "Brunch Happy Hour" which prices the menu items at an incredible cheap price. We ordered the Avocado Toast & the Chicken & Waffles. The Chicken & Waffles was pretty disappointing. The chicken was bland and dry. It definitely needed some more flavour that didn't come from the syrup, which was also average. The Avocado Toast was yummy. Lots of avocado but a relatively small portion and my boyfriend was not full from this. The mimosas are $5! DINNER: I enjoy dinner here due to how quiet it is on the dining side. My favorites are the Margherita Pizza & finishing with their very delicious Sticky Toffee Chocolate Pudding which is described as: warm pudding cake, chocolate and toffee sauces, with vanilla ice cream, candy snap.
